Watching the backs of bass fishermen looking down at their electronics during the entire television broadcast is definitely disappointing.
Yeah I know man and watching their backs prior to FFS as they cast and cast and cast and not catch anything was really terrible to watch as well. It’s the exact same thing. Instead of looking forward, now they look down.

Two things you realize your complaining about watching other people fish that's the equivalent of people who watch the NFL draft and complain. The other is they have developed how to show the livescope screen which will help solve that issue.
This argument always makes me think of the time when Takahiro Omori won the Classic years ago. He went to this place where the water was muddy and there was a little bit of current, and he just was there on pure instinct- His instincts were screaming at him where to fish, and he went with his instincts- there were NO ELECTRONICS to tell him there were some hawgs up in that brush- He had years and years of dedication, years and years on the water, he had turned his brain into a bass finding computer- and on that day his brain had figured them out better than anyone else- And when he set the hook on that huge hawg that nailed his crankbait- He kept saying over and over ¨I knew it!!!! I knew it!!! I knew the fish would be here!¨
So here is the tragedy- The joy and the thrill that Takahiro felt on that day when he FIGURED OUT where the fish would be and then he won the classic- These guys now days will never experience a thrill like that in bass fishing...Without those stupid machines they probably couldn´t even catch a bluegill with a cricket and a bobber.
Gimme 1985 anyday- Bill Dance versus Roland Martin Versus Tom Mann versus Jimmy Houston... That was REAL BASS FISHING! They had those slow crappy boats with a flash unit- and they knew MORE about bass fishing than these modern pros will ever understand, period! And as a child, I loved to watch those tournaments on TV!!!!

It really sucks that FFS is allowed in the High School Bass Association Tournaments as well. We dont have one and there are a few other kids that dont have one. We dont even have a chance compared to all the other kids whose dad has the FFS. We were on Rayburn a couple weeks ago in the tournament and all you seen is people standing on the front of their boats staring at a screen trying to catch deep water fish. Just ridiculous. Its not that Im ticked I dont have one, I just dont think it should be allowed in High School. Not all kids can afford to have FFS setup. Make these kids all fish on a level playing field. At least at a minimum, have FFS allowed tournaments and FFS not allowed tournaments. I would like to see all these anglers bring in the fish they catch without FFS. It wont happen.
Ray Scott is rolling in his grave. How can you ban things like the number of lines on the water at one time, the maximum allowable rod length allowed, the number of hooks allowed on an Alabama rig, etc, but yet you can have 7 giant graphs and 12 different transducers ? What’s next using drones over flats with range finders or using underwater drones with cameras so you can count how many fish are on a structure and confirm their the correct species and size ? I totally agree Randy that the guys winning now are mostly talentless hacks. It’s like a Sim Racing driver competing against an actual professional driver in a real car on a real track. In reality they’re not even close in terms of talent. Fishing is being dominated by lazy gamers right now NOT professional fisherman.

I showed my wife this video and another 1 of them using FFS (I have never mentioned ever to her about FFS) I just wanted to see her reaction.
She looked at me in astonishment that why would they allow this and is that legal? My wife said do those young kids really need $50K of electronics in order to catch fish? Where did they get the $$$$ for that and $80K for a boat. etc etc etc
My wife said these Influencers, Tik-Toker's, etc. generation of young adults are all looking for attention and want to out do each other. They do not want to work for it, they just want it given to them.
Then she said your not going to buy 1 of those are you? You always catch fish and do good.

When people say just because you see them on FFS doesn't mean they will bite are wrong. Scott Martin proved that at the tournament at Lake Okeechobee where he chased down this big bass for 1hour until he caught it. Instead of it being a reaction bite it was an irritated bite. Irritate them until they bite.

You ain't seen nothin' yet! Have you seen the heads-up FFS display the guy put into his eyeglasses, like a fighter pilot's helmet? They don't even have to stare down at their unit anymore. It was pretty fun to see these pro's setups ... it's all about efficiency for them. The reason they all have so many graphs is that they want to dedicate a graph to a single function. Each graph is dedicated to do8ng only one thing so they have one for FFS, one for mapping, one for 360. They are also running multiple transducers so they don't have to constantly switch between them. Is it truly necessary? Not really it just makes things easier for them. You don't see recreational anglers doing this. We just have 1 or 2 graphs on the console and 1 or 2 on the bow and just switch modes between them when we need to use different modes. The world of bass fishing does not revolve around pro tournaments. The fact that 200 guys have $30k of electronics on their boat is pretty much meaningless to the rest of the 5 million bass fisherman in the US ...

Not a single one of us have any chance at cashing $100,000 checks 6-9 times a year. Not a single one of us rely on this to put food on the table. If you’re a recreational fisherman, buying a $100,000 Ikon/Cat/Vexus/Phoenix/FXR. You’re either filthy rich, have money to blow, use it as a tax write off, or care too much about what people think. If you’re a rec fisherman with 6x 12”-16” graphs on your boat, you’re outside your needs. You don’t have to buy a LX21, VX21, 921 elite, FXR21, F21 Predator etc. i have a ‘20 F195 Falcon, with 2 helix 10s at the console that came on the boat, a helix 10 and Garmin 126 with LS at the bow. The boat has 28hrs on it when i bought it in ‘21 and I paid 56k for that boat. I had a ‘97 Sprint 286 before that. My truck is a 2015 Silverado. And i have a bunch of boxes of ol monsters, jigs, crank baits, and creature/craw baits. I’ve cashed in $3k-$8k checks out of both boats. MULTIPLE 30lb+ bags, With and without LS, on a $4 pack of Junebug ol monsters, and some cheap ass strike king foot ball jigs. Again, if someone is rec fishing, and spending that kind of money, that’s their own decision… kinda like the pros that use FFS, nobody makes you do that. Period.
My whole boat, motor, trailer, trolling motor, and electronics combined isn’t even worth $50,000!

What good are all of those transducers and graphs without a very expensive, GPS-controlled trolling motor to keep you "spot-locked" over the fish you find? So, we gotta get rid of the trolling motor, too...right? You mention $50,000 so many times it should be a drinking game, but how much does a steering wheel cost on an F1 car? Oh yeah, about $50,000! Are people whining that they ain't racing anymore?
It's as simple as this, sir...if you don't like it, don't use it. If the governing body(s) of the sport think it's hurting the sport, they'll restrict them. What you don't seem to understand is you and your nostalgic viewpoint cannot define what viewers and sponsors want to see. You have this holier-than-thou, doom and gloom outlook on every single topic out there, and it's getting REALLY old, man...really old. If you want to advocate for a "low-tech" tournament circuit, where a bunch of old-heads go out and catch a lot less fish for the cameras to record, then put your money where your mouth is and put that tournament circuit together! If you think that's what viewers and sponsors want to see, well, you're wrong, but go ahead and practice what you preach. Otherwise, learn to accept change and stop living in the past. My forward facing sonar is bluetoothed to my dc reel so the perfect amount of line is cast and the reel is self cranking so the corresponding bait runs at the right distance and depth.
Spot on again Randy. I am 60 years old. I have a 2022 Tracker 170 and no I am not a tournament angler but I have caught fish my whole life just fishing. 50K for electronics?? Dude I have purchased houses for less in my life. Ridiculous. And I have stopped watching any fishing shows or videos with FFS it is just boring.

If it doesn't exist yet it will in the next five years. A bluetooth connection between sonar and reel to control braking so it lands at the right distance

The next generation of FFS will tell you exactly what each bass weighs so you don't waste time on that 5 pounder in front of you if you need a 6 pounder to put you in the money. And if you don't want to be old-school, looking down at a screen, you can get a pair of Bluetooth glasses for $5K.👍
I’m sorry but pro fishing is an absolute disgrace. To think about how kids and other people that are just getting into fishing are seeing this as their first impression of fishing is horrific.

Although I dont disagree. It’s funny, a guy I know that’s been fishing all his life has said to me, “ I see no difference. Sometimes I catch fish, sometimes I don’t. I haven’t noticed a change in any of my fisheries.” I think it’s all perspective. I watch these types of vids so, In my mind fishing is over, my hobby is done. He watches nothing so, In his, “what are you rambling on about, get that lure wet and let’s listen to nature and not your worries.”
If Ray Scott was still alive I believe he would tell all the Never Scopers to shut it and deal with it. Ray was a no nonsense guy that had a dream to further the sport in any way possible. FFS will never be banned, limited sure but never banned.

A $500 rod doesn’t point to where the fish are.
Somebody needs to setup an incentive program that will pay the top two anglers who don't use FFS a bonus. This could be similar to how boat manufacturers pay a bonus to the top finisher using their boat. A sponsor like Bridgeford would make a huge splash with a program like this and it would allow the anglers who don't use FFS to actually win some money.
That’s a great idea. Give a fish weight total goal for a season or tournament to reach and have it teared so if you hit this weight without ffs pays this and if you hit this weight then you hit the second tear and get this much money. I love this idea.
I like this. $1000 Strike King bonus for fish caught on a Strike King jig…or something similar.
Randy could even set this up himself. Ask for fan donations and then give out "Randy Blauket Awards" to the top finishers who don't use FFS. Imagine if he raised a lot of money for that from fans. It would be a strong signal to Bassmaster.

I quit watching ALL bass tournaments due to FFS and won’t watch any till it’s banned. That’s not fishing….I’m 78 and still fishing. Also the millions of panfish they’re catching….DISGUSTING!!!

Watching on the Fire stick but came on my phone to comment. I am no longer listening or probably even watching pro fishermen who use this crap! It is the same technology used in military to find the enemy. The BASS ARE NOT A THREAT TO YOU... I'm sick of watching and admiring pros who use this equipment to catch fish. HOW CAN YOU CALL YOURSELVES A PROFESSIONAL FISHERMEN USING THIS EQUIPMENT???... Bass fishing is about skill and this equipment deletes that skill. All you have to do is learn basically is to read the screen and drop the bait in front of their mouths. I don't except sportsmen who use steroids and I don't respect fishermen who call themselves pros but use these tools. Soon your average bankers will be better than the pros because they are out on the grind while you pros use your Dial a Bass. Use it for fun, use it for bait research but using it to call yourself a pro is pathetic! Have been watching your channel for many years, was about 80% against FFS but saw Chris’s video yesterday it made me sick. Watch Matt Allen on today’s Tactical and it may make you feel a little bit better. He is fishing on a tin boat, no electronics and nailing them explaining how he looks at conditions and applies it to his fishing.
It’s freaking pathetic in my book! I won’t watch anything that involves FFS! I’m still confident regulations will come in the near future. Spotlighting is NOT fishing! I must say that even though Wheeler is the man, I was absolutely routing for Rojas last weekend to win the BPT!

There’s absolutly zero data to back up any of these claims. None, no scientific data or any other. FFS has been around for a long time, especially in the crappie world and every fishery around that I know of is just as healthy. It’s a bogus claim with no data to back it up and that’s been proven over and over and over again.

They are starting to ban cell cameras for hunting because people have taken it way too far far. I go to the outdoor to get away from stuff like this and the art woodsman ship is a lost art and people are sitting and waiting on a deer to be on cell camera sent to the phone and they go out and hunt that spot which like I said they have went to far with it. I walk one acre of public land and I see 20-30 cameras
I’m in southern Indiana and I see a lot of regs start in the west and move our way so I think you’re right in that as long as it’s allowed on that lake or that state the tournaments will allow it. I’m worried in 30ish years fish will be a protected species because of electronics like this and it’s going to get better and cheaper so every person will have it and not everyone is smart enough to know how to handle fish that is pulled from deep water where fish go to hide. It’s not sustainable at all. Really it should only be used for fish study type of people

Dear Bassmaster and MFL, both of you are destroying our precious Bass resource because all you care about is the all mighty dollar. You show on every Tournament you have that you do not care about the Bass or the fairness for all fishermen to have an equal chance for winning a tournament. IT’S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY! Because of your greed in sponsor dollars from the electronic companies you have sold the sole of Bassmaster and I’m sure Ray Scott didn’t start this sport for you to be greedy and destroy it.

A compromise would probably be to make a new branch of tournaments. Electronic heavy that allows foward facing sonar and a tournament for old school. Bassmaster Classic and Bassmaster Futures

First time I’ve partially agreed with you. I’ll never support banning FFS, but those setups on Zaldain’s video were flat out ridiculous. There needs to be some sort of regulation similar to a salary cap in the NFL. Something like 4 graphs max.

I would be more concerned about where the graphs are being mounted and from what I see in the video those graphs are mounted in the sight of vision while driving a boat in which is a distraction and in which is dangerous .There will be alot of boat accidents in the near future If there aren't any regulations or laws to control this. As far as FFS if you have the money you should be free to do as you please with your own boat .D.E.C.laws are there to protect the fish and wildlife.I do not however feel that new technology that has came about recently should be allowed to be used in tournaments .I was never all that thrilled when depth sounders and graphs were invented.I am an old school fisherman it is me against the fish.Somedays I win and I can catch a few but somedays I don't that is why it is called Fishing and not fish catching but I like the challenge .

Sad, but then they turned fishing into a boat race decades ago. If you really wanted a competition, that would be a sport, and find out who the best fishermen were. you'd need to limit the boats to pedal drive kayaks with no sonar. Now that would be something. You could probably allow an ice chest with beverages, even beer and some dry storage for cigars and or doobies. Now that would be fishin. I think A I is for people that lack intelligence, people that have intelligence don't need it.
Not to mention $5,000+ trolling motors.
And another $5000 plus in lithium batteries just to run all those electronics!!!
I use FFS but I still think it must be regulated. Like one ffs transducer per boat. 2 screen units in the front and two in the back. (Max) This is going to far now and it’s out of control IMO.
No practice days, no FFS, limit tackle, rods, etc.
Just got back from the Toledo and lake Fork tournaments. After six days on the water as a marshal, I'm starting to agree with Randy!!
I’ve been a BassMaster member for 15 years.. I’ve emailed them & let them know how boring watching the Elite Series is.. I don’t plan to renew my membership & that’s sad.. I hope they do the right thing. It’s getting totally out of hand
Watching bassmaster for hours on end is not a comparison to what you may have watched in the past. You used to watch a one hour show loaded with fish catches. Would you consider watching an angler go jig fishing for several hours where you might get six bites all day. I consider Blaukat as a knowledgable fisherman who has much to offer but he is the one who used to jump over logs and load his boat with water to enter areas that would normally be off limits. Thus the rules were changed to prevent this from happening. The one thing that FFS has proven is that 90% of the fish are behind you if you are casting towards the shore, something that Elwood "Buck" Perry brought forth more than fifty years ago.
Same with MLF .
Not all use it but most and the one's who win , do.
Imagine going hunting with $50K worth of electronics in your tree stand to tell you where every animal was in the woods. If they truly wanted to earn the "bass master" label, they shouldn't allow any electronics.
They should capitalize on this by having 2 tours. The man’s tour and the screen stare tour

Randy, i dont really know what to say. I watched the sunday morning bassmaster elite sunday and i think they realize they have created a monster.8 of 10 boats were in the same area livescoping bass. I think its the beginning of the end for livescope for bassmaster

I watch the video that you were talking about it is crazy but I do agree with you but I see the future i fish for many years and I am a scooper now you have to fish and let fish nobody is holding a gun to their head and making them fish they know what they’re doing and I know they have to compete and that’s what they’re doing

Keep posting and hammering this home, but my man get some sleep, you look tired, not worth the headache. It needs to be a prefishing tool, not a tourney tool, they are going to drown themselves because it is not entertaining.
At one time these pros didn’t have electronics and were still catching fish. Now they just catch more fish 👍🏼 as a matter of fact, I’d say it makes them even better at fishing without electronics because they used these things to see where fish are and can tell where fish would be better after electronics than before they had it.
What it really comes down to is people are jealous they can’t afford what these pros have (myself included) and so they want to strip them of what they have to help the little guys like me feel like it’s a little more fair when we are all in different “tournaments” in the first place. And I’m a really old fashioned fella but even I would like to have the best tools to help me catch fish if I could.
This would be like legalizing night vision for night hunting big game , it’s already illegal to use a flashlight!

Guess fishing is going to turn into who has the most money..not bashing just saying the average working man isnt going to be able to keep up most of the time,we might have a 3-5month window to have our best chance..but when they predominately go offshore,summer,winter they definitely have the advantage..not complaining,and congratulations to all that can afford it all but i do have to agree with you..even if i could afford it i dont want all of that in my way,a couple on the front and couple at the console is more than enough for me

There needs to be a limit on screen inches and transducers. Just something to think about. FFS is no different than sight fishing for bedding bass.

Sounds to me like there is a "Fishing Industrial Complex".
FFS has done to bass fishing what Barrett Jackson and MECUM has done to working on old cars. It's not all just BASS or MLF, it's bleeding into all levels of fishing and it makes me some days to want to sell out. 50K for electronics is pure insanity when we have people making 50K and struggle just to make ends meet.
