Your videos are golden! I am a steelhead junkie, but my son loves bass fishing... so you're helping me help him! And I am one thankful father!
That''s awesome. Thank you
Been watching your vids for awhile now, and I think I have figured out why I like yours over all the others on UA-cam. You don't take yourself too serious. When something doesn't go exactly right, you make light of it with some self-deprecating humor and drive on. Don't ever change that, Gene. Oh, and the information is pretty useful too. :)
In full summer I've got two bank fishing rods and setups. Frogging with my 7 ft, medium heavy, braided line, and my weightless Senko deadsticking rod, 7 ft 3in, fast action with about 12 lb mono/flouro. If they're not hitting on top, I try to catch them with a slower presentation. Just cast lift and drop, they usually hit on the fall. If you catch weeds just pop it like a jerkbait.
I’ve been fishing wrong for years. Thank you for your videos. They have helped me get the joy of fishing back. God bless.
Glad to help
Love the bank stuff lately! Been fishing almost all from the bank this year instead of kayak b/c of circumstances and your videos have helped me. Thank you!
Same!
60+ years fishing and I still learn something . Keep it up 👍 .
Your bank fishing videos are the most helpful for me. Appreciate ya bud!
I need to practice on grassy lakes more .videos just in time thanks fluke!
You're alright in my book. 100%. When it's hot as HELL time to get gone to fish another day. Don't need you to catch fish in front of me, I need you to show me set ups, spots to fish and techniques on how to get clear of heavy cover while actively looking to fish it. I fish in what is raw woods surrounding a lake. You can see obstructions, lily pads, grass, lay-downs. My friend caught a solid 1.5 lb fish and there's bigger stuff in there. YOU'RE THE FIRST youtuber I've found that hiked into the dang woods and fished with trees and stuff challenging your cast. THANK YOU for these awesome tips. I'm glad I found this video because I'm fishing right now (August/dog-days-of-summer) in the northeast on a good size lake that isn't experiencing heavy fishing pressure. Time to go looking for part 2 of this video!
Thank you
Wow the Flukemaster does fish a fluke !!!!! Thanks Gean !😎
My county (Marin Co Ca.) only allows bank fishing. So thank you for doing those videos. It can be hard to bank fish. Thank you for the great content.
I had to watch this video again, going to hit up a small golf course pond here in southwest Texas and your comments on the heat are about what it feels like out here.
I am in Pentwater MI and fishing a very grassy lake and look forward to trying these techniques out tomorrow
Another great video, right now bank fishing is all that I do so this was incredibly helpful with what rigs to use. I need to find more of your stuff for my type of fishing. Thanks !!!
Like the discussion about grass
Really like all your techniques and how you willing to teach those that don’t fish or know much how to fish new ways I’ve learned so much from you and chad all I use to know was a Texas rig and started watching you guys along with some other and learned so much hope to fish with you and chad one day
Great video. Nice to see that everyone can have a tough day in conditions like that. Appreciate your work. I always leave with some good information.
Recommending all my fishing buddies to this channel. You're the best Fluke!
The most informative channel. Thank esp for this one.
This is perfect tips for my pond
Was that “The Air Force” that I just saw coming out of you? It’s too hot out here 😂 😂 😂 seriously I enjoy your videos.
Thank you for the bank fishing content! Wanting to take up fishing again after I loved it as a kid. Looking for knots and hook tying info. Thanks 😊
hello how are you I hope all is well I have been watching your channel for a long time and I enjoy how you take time to show people how to fish from the bank its a lot of people that forget that everyone does not have a boat I try to take what people are showing and apply it to my fishing from the bank but i take my hat off to you also bass geek and TJ81 you guys rock
Great vid. One of the better ones on youtube.
Glad to see your just like us you not catch them ever time. The mojo rig or split shot rig is one of the best I caught my PB of 7.2 lbs on that rig! Thanks for your videos. I’m a big fan.
This was fantastic for guys like me (no boat) keep up the good work.
Flukemaster is such an OG.
Be sure I've learned a lot! Thanks from Brazil
Good to know how to fish grass when getting hung up on that stuff. Usually just rip through it. Will definitely try letting the line go slack and double popping it to keep fishing that cast.
Fantastic, classic FM teaching video.
Glad you liked it!
Wow. As usual Gene you taught this old man a thing or two...3....ect. Thanks for your videos and for what you do!
You are very welcome
Hey Flukemaster love the content. We want to keep you around eat better.
You just helped me realize I caught my first bass in 27 years with a mojo rig variant. Mine had an exposed hook
Awesome! Thanks for putting your gear (with affiliate links) in the description!!
Best none catching video I’ve seen thanks for the great info really that’s hot I would Have died
Spinner baits I always use top water. Use different cadences slow, medium then fast. Then change up cadence so it seems realistic moving creature or bait fish using different cadences. If you pause no more the 2 to 3 seconds tops so Spinner bait don't sink too much.
It's just a Fluke that Flukemaster has a Fluke tied on 😅👍
THANK YOUUUUUU GENE!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m about to go do just this very same thing
Thanks for the lesson Mr Jenson love your videos Fish on 💥💪🏻👍🏻👊🏻
One of my favorite UA-camrs!!!!!!
Funny, I use a split shot / light carolina rig on accident on grass, haha.
Wish you were able to fish side by side with me… you sure know your stuff. Thank you
You been teaching me alot since many years I will teach you something when you go around forest you need to use a 2piece rod or use a rod sock
I have been whiplashing bass in matted and grass areas this year with worm lures.
Thank you Gene I learn lot today awesome video. Thanks again
Glad to hear it
LOL, note to self: Bring plastic worms, bring water, bring fourth rod, and portable AC unit! Enjoyed tips on fishing edges and how to pop grass off my rig!
Great insights... Grassy lakes/ponds abound! You mention 3 or 4 rods, which are you leaving home among the 4?
Topwater plug like a baby torpedo around grass will help you locate them. If they don’t commit to da bite then you know what to do throw da worm. Yeah!
Really helpful, even you did not catch any fish this time, LOL . Thanks
Good Stuff Gene,,,🌴🏝🐊💦🍃🐠Thank’s Flukemaster,,,,!!!!💦💦💦We have a lot of weedy water down here in Jacksonville, Fl.🌎🇺🇸🦅⚾️
Great video! Thank you Sir!
Gene, great video, thank you sir!
thank you for the informative video
At this point in the season, ALL of our lakes in SW Pa are grass lakes.
Tough fishing lately around here!
Same here in MD...I miss all the farm ponds in central PA
Can you do a fall transition video for bank fishermen? Lures and techniques for us that have no boats. On my way to buy some of the lures you suggest right now!
Great info Bud
Enjoy your explanations. So helpful to a newbie like me. I see bass fishing as a real challenge and I will win!
Glad to hear it!
I’m fishin in New Mexico at Lake Roberts damn I’m frustrated with all the grass and constantly pulling up weed and grass
Nice new intro! Love the content also!
What bag are you using to store your spinnerbaits? I like that.
Canyon lake Texas here hydrilla is becoming a huge issue
If you can cast your fluke rig on a bait caster , you can cast a floating worm!
Love your videos!
damn good video and information!
Good info. I look forward to part 2. I like the bank fishing videos. Thank u.
You're awesome!
I hear a lot about search baits. To me the name implies that they are not used to continue fishing once fish are located. Am I wrong? PS Thank you for this bank fishing tutorial. I recently gave up my fish n ski Nitro for a tri toon for mama and the grandkids.
Gene, can i use a flipping jig as a swim jig? I have very little confidence in jigs and don't want to spend a lot of money buying jigs i will not use. I have 3 jigs and they are all flipping jigs but want to try them as swim jig but i am not sure.
Did anyone else see the blow up behind him while he was talking at 15:18 😆
Just like all us anglers like hanging on the edge of the water hahaha
Any ideas on what bait to take to Michigan in September in a Jon boat ???
Do you tie all your leaders on with a swivel. And my Texas rigs always slide down after 1 cast. What am I doing wrong.
Ponds are like that! Don't always get 'em! Do you think throwing to the middle and bringing your bait back to the shore is less effective than throwing to the bank from a boat and retrieving back to the middle?
I would prefer kayak fishing pulling the bait from the bank into the lake/pond, as opposed to dragging from open water towards the bank. Frogs jump off of brush close to the bank, they don't just plop down in the middle of a lake and swim for the shore, so the presentation is more natural. That being said I have had gotten bites in open water with no structures. It depends on a lot like how deep the water is, how pressured the fish are, time of day, water clarity etc. But matching the hatch and throwing the most natural presentation is always best whether you're pulling the bait in or out.
Fluke - Why are you using a swivel for your fluke/weightless worm? What is it's purpose?
I believe it helps stop line twist
Gene is there a difference between underwater grass and weeds? A local pond I fish in has a big area that is covered in thick weeds that go from about 2 foot below the surface to an average debth of about 4 feet, to the bottom of the lake. I do fish the edge with a pretty good amount of success,
What if it's a shallow lake, with a hard or sandy bottom? One end it's only inches deep, and there's a shallow creek (approximately 6-8 inches deep) that feeds into it, at the other end it's 20ft deep with a spillway. Lots of overhanging cover along the edges, with a few trees that's fell over into the water. What are you gonna throw?
I cannot find a stretch of grass water near me despite trying. It's out there somewhere.
can you drop shot fish in a weedy lake
LOL perfect it's moody. Kinda like my wife. hahahhaha
So the bass lived for another day.
I wanna meet ya, just because my name is Jordan as well(great name!). I know I’ll learn my lesson big time!
One of my local lakes is ALL matted grass. What weight size would you use as a bare minimum?
So what kinds of hard lures can u use in a grasses lake I have a grasses lake by my house and I don't know what to do
Did you link the punch rig for those grassy patches on top of the water? I don’t see it
I end up getting snagged all the time in grassy water , no luck at all where’s the darn fish?
What bag do you use to carry your spinner baits ?
What I learned from this video: Go early or late. That's my motto in the dog days.
I caught two bass over 6 pounds at 2 pm yesterday. In fact for the past month the best bite has been between noon and 3
Flukemaster I need to come fish your lake then. I’m going to give the split shot rig a try today b
Flukemaster I’m curious which of these techniques you caught them on. Or was it a different one?
Hey Gene, what happened to your 6’5” frog rod? I looked for it on 13 fishing’s site and couldn’t find it.
It was discontinued when they thinner out that model.
Fishing a natural lake or good sized pond is easy if you’re able to wade into it…
But, if it’s a “Barrow Pit”, which means a man made lake or pond…do not wade in it!!!
You can get swallowed up!
I have waded into barrow pits and all is well…but, I was being stupid…ignorant…
I have lost friends who were swimming in barrow pits and they got sucked down!
I know some of you ain’t gonna believe me, but that’s on you, I’ve done my part by warning you.
Do you have any tips for getting a lightweight bait out there? I can't seem to get much dostance on a spinning rod unless it has a 1/2 oz or more
Lighter line will help you cast farther. Get some 10lb braid and cast across the lake.
Is the Carolina rig a good one for this type of lake?
I think if it's milfoil it's good if you have enough of a leader. But if it's matted grass it might not be the best, your Carolina will never drag the bottom. A Carolina is probably okay if you're not punching grass or fishing topwater. If it's matted you're going to pick up a ton of weeds.
John Caputo thanks. It’s a lot of matted grass 😔
Last
the big issue i have is to find a lake which has fishes
I will say that your video was a bit too informative I will say that your video was a bit to informative as in there was just so much information to try to retain you know some things that I feel like you would need to explain on other videos which is good for you I mean more content but also if I were entirely new to fishing this would probably confuse me I don't know maybe not but I will say that was very informative and I appreciate that aspect
First
when you only have 1 rod 😢
Big bass are moody huh well that makes sense being that the biggest bass are females 🤔🤔😆
Too much talk just fish
