Today I checked out Betty White’s house in Brentwood California after she passed away not even one year later they sold her house which she bought in 1968. I could not believe my eyes the house was demolished and completely gone. It was really sad to see that such an iconic place was just erased.

l did synthetic putting greens for landscape west in Torrance cali. We worked w/ some very famous people while l was there in the 90s. The landscape architects are like family to these people. Kardashians. Roseanne Barr. Pete Carroll. Sugar ray Leonard. l just built the putting greens but my friend that owned the company had many 'perks' like stays at vacation properties, gifted cars, golf cart, clubs and membership, lifetime restaurant freebies etc etc. You are correct.

Great video GIV. I loved Bette White , like millions of people. You look like you’ve gotten a little color, LA is good for you. I don’t think people need homes that big, some of those homes only have 2 people living in them. People have too much money. Don’t think that you are less than them. I live near Lake Michigan, we have homes on the lake that people only live in during the summer months. Massive homes.

When I first moved to LA in1988 I was a visiting nurse. I visited many Brentwood and Bellaire residences. From what I learned most of these people own businesses or have inherited money. I also learned most of these people were not happy. Of course I can only speak about the people I met, but what looks so good on the outside is not always what it appears to be on the inside.

@@inproper3952 there are many people from all walks of financial life that are not happy. As I always say, "I'd rather be rich and miserable than poor and miserable." At least you'd be having something working in your favor. There are more miserable people who are poor than rich. Why? Because the majority of people are not rich. We lie to ourselves about these things, which we shouldn't. However, money only resolves issues that money can resolve. It all depends on the mindset of the person with the money, how they view and manage it in comparison to life. And yes, money can buy you health too. You can afford the best healthcare it can buy, but only to a point. Personally, my mind doesn't view people as being rich or poor. It's the way my thought processes were conditioned by the way I was raised. Judge people by the content of their character, period. I know, and have known, people from all walks of financial life. At the end of the day people are people. I think when people inherit money, aka generational wealth, that's where the problems may arise in some cases. When the poor come into money, and they have the wrong mindset, they don't manage it well. That's where the misery can come into play for some of them. And when I say inherit I am especially referring to those who are born into wealth. In the cases of many of those homes you see in this video, the majority are probably families with generational wealth. As for a home, home is when you are with the people that you love. Without them, it's not a home. That's true for the poor as much as it is for the rich.

In the 1970s, I met Betty and her husband Allen Ludden at CBS Television City after they had appeared as guests on the TV game show, "Tattletales." I waited outside the studio after the show to meet them and get their autographs, which I still have. They were both very nice. I was a teenager. They didn't have to be nice to me, but they were, and I'll always remember that. I did tear up when I heard that Betty had passed. She will be missed, and now so will her house.

Betty White wanted her home demolished and put it in her will. Her family was asked to carry this out. The new buyer wasn’t even allowed to tour the home. She didn’t want her privacy violated, nor her life turned into a circus. She wanted her private space that she shared with her late husband to be kept private. By tearing down the home they had together, she took those private memories with her.

I used to get kind of depressed when I was younger and seeing those rich people. Older I get, I realized some of them are just miserable. They get divorces or get into bad addictions etc (some); I was able to retire at age 51 and my home is paid for, I have really no bills, I could pretty much travel any where and buy things I want (not everything); but guess what, it doesn’t bring me joy. You can have all the money in the world and still be depressed and lonely. Some one said this recently; before you buy something you want or something you think you need. Remember, you have things you bought in the past that you really wanted badly and now it’s just taking up room or you don’t care about it anymore.

But mostly, having so many people die and being the person that had to deal with the possessions and property its too much. And I wont force somebody who cares about me have to do it. I think the gardeners or landscapers that receive the check are happy and get paid well. If they work for a company's behalf, their check might not be as large, but I think still happy. My husband worked in an office making more money, but then transitioned to landscaping making less, he was SO happy being outside, moving, and seeing the end projects of his landscaping. It was way worth it for him. His clients would be surprised to see he was the one working on their lawns because they (sadly) didn't expect to see him since he looked like he worked in an office.

Built in the 1920's it was closing in on age 95. They scraped it a year ago and now squeezed a 12 unit, 3-floor vertical apartment unit is on the 1 1/2 plot parcel. I moved from LA to Idaho 20 years ago. I went back to LA for a funeral 4 years ago. I couldn’t believe have far down the sewer it fell. My last house, which was beautiful with lush landscaping, now is in disrepair and all the landscaping is dead and there are weeds as tall as I am. It WAS a beautiful neighborhood, but not anymore. There were people openly using drugs and illegal aliens are the majority in some places. And yes, it is true that people are using the sidewalks as their toilet. You can walk down some streets and actually see people taking a dump, right in public in broad daylight. I used to work in a jail and thought I had seen everything, but it even shocked me. I will NEVER go back there again, not even for a short visit.

A HOUSE BUILT IN THE 50'S WOULDN'T PASS CODE NOWADAYS, ESPECIALLY IN CALIFORNIA... YOU CANT RESTORE A LITTLE HERE & A LITTLE THERE, CALIFORNIA HAS STRICT GUIDELINES & CODE REQUIREMENTS & FOR GOOD REASON... I DONT BELIEVE THE WORD "REMODEL" IS EVEN PART OF THE VOCABULARY OUT THERE, YOU'VE GOTTA PULL A PERMIT JUST TO INSTALL A NEW TOILET IN CALIFORNIA, THATS A FACT... IT'S NOT COST EFFECTIVE TO RESTORE, REHAB,OR REMODEL A HOME OF THAT AGE (BUILT IN THE 50'S)... ALTHOUGH IT WAS BEAUTIFUL BACK IN THE DAY, I THOUGHT BETTY'S HOUSE LOOKED "TIRED", LIKE IT HAD SEEN BETTER DAYS... IT WASN'T THEIR PRIMARY RESIDENCE TO BEGIN WITH, IT WAS MORE OF A CONVENIENCE, FOR WHEN THEY WERE ON SET, IT WAS THE LOCATION THAT SURVED THEM SO WELL...
