@@veloworks9266 A close relative lives in Bradford-on-Avon, which is the HQ for Moulton bikes - so not far from you in Bristol. Maybe you could ask them to provide you with a tour, explain where they are going. I am old enough to recall when Moulton's first arrived - but tbh I still don't understand their raison d'etre. Obviously a different place than Brompton, but what about Bike Friday? You do quality interesting content - keep up the good work!
I table agree with you, it was well worth spending the money to get such a good result. That bike will go on forever and will give a huge amount of riding pleasure. There is nothing like a Moulton and they are all collectable classics. I would personally gone for a Shimano Alfine 8 or 11 speed hub gear as I find the derailleur puts the chain too close to the ground. But it looks great how you have done it.
@@Bicyclehub hi thanks so much for watching and your comments. For us it was reducing the weight at the rear end and balancing it. We are going to do a follow up video soon to see how Sarah’s getting on with the gears 👍
I really admire your knowledge. At my age I take my bikes to the local shop, but I wish I had taken the time when I was younger to learn more so I could've enjoyed that feeling of accomplishment that comes out in your videos. It's a beautiful bike!
Well done! Even though you didn't intend to you raised the gearing! I run a run a 3x because I have a braze on! Also I mentioned my later APB had a 1cm hole in bb another yt channel toasty ride has an incite that a hole in bb no likelihood of rust, no hole rust likely. Billy Bonkers nice, great that they fitted!
Thanks John and for the nice comment. The more custom / elegant bikes in our collection all have holes in the BB to drain water - this is largely because they’ve been made by hand but it’s good practice 👍👍
Thanks for watching. What I do with the torque wrench is have my hand further up as the ratchet mechanism will need manually turning to start the bolt off and my small finger and the next one are always at the base of the wrench and that’s where the leverage comes from. It’s not so clear on the video 👍
Get job Paul, it's a beaut. They do ride outs from the Moulton factory in Bradford--on-Avon down the N4 from you, I'm sure the guys there would love to see it. We rode together briefly on an Audax in Bristol last year (red trek520) and you spoke fondly of Argos Racing then, great to see it finished.
Hi Chris, thanks for commenting and watching! I would agree we need to get on one of those rides! What’s the groups called? Have you done many more audaxs?
Retro builds are pricey and the more "exotic" the worse it gets. I actually managed to go and see Alex Moulton as a student in my final year of ID/T (Industrial Design / Transport), Coventry in 1989. Unfortunately there was only one train to and from Bradford on Avon in the day but he kindly forwent his afternoon "nap" to see me. He got a little short tempered at my lack of understanding of bike engineering when I asked about small wheels going offroad, but did at least give me a go on the then brand new Moulton ATB (not XTB). Honestly, it unfortunately felt like a bit of a seesaw going uphill as the front and back suspension were a bit too forgiving. But heh, it was generous of Dr. Moulton to give up his time and entertain a pretty clueless student!! If I came across one now for a 100 quid I'd probably put my heart into doing it up too!
Fantastic. Great to see the progress - & result - to a lovely “new” bike. 😊
Thank you and we appreciate you watching and commenting! It’s a dream to ride and I’m struggling to let Sarah ride it as I want too 😂
Absolutely wonderful video what a team
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed it. We are very happy with the end result 💙
@@veloworks9266 So was I brilliant job , this bike deserves to go back up to Scotland to go on some of your past rides
@@andrewmuirhead86 yes we were just talking about an Islay tour or a tour of the outer Hebrides!
Great bike, stunning colour and good value. Very environmental friendly to restore what already exists rather than use energy to create something new.
Thank you for the lovely comments! And glad you like it 👍🤩
Great series. See if you can fix the order of the videos in the UA-cam playlist, to make it easier to play.
Thanks for watching and also letting me know 👍 I’ll check it out tomorrow and fix it 👍

Love your vids….A quick point if I may? You need to hold the torque wrench by the grip 01:58 to get an accurate tension 👍🏼

Great story thanks for sharing!!! This made me laugh that he deemed to forgo his afternoon nap for you 😂 Lovely to hear
Sorry for wrong choice of word!! Sounds the same! Should have been insight.
