@@NicVieriMechanic The only piece of advice, is to line up the MAXXIS logo with the air valve. This makes the valve easy to find, when needing to add air. Many bikes come like this when bought new.
@ I’ve lined the size logo up instead. But yes I think that would look better with the Maxxis logos. The only strange thing I noticed is that they aren’t evenly printed on the two tires.

I could have happily sat through one that was 3 times as long. There were times when I would have liked the ambient sounds to be a touch louder but as others have said, the absence of an overdubbed soundtrack was very welcome.

@@rickgiolito5980 I’ve been rinsing 700x50c for about 8 months, but I just prefer 27.5. So decided to switch back to it. I’ll swap between two wheel sets over the next few months to help me decided what to stick with.
I ride my rocky mountain Solo A50 in this spec with race kings and I absolutely love it. More capable and comfortable and so much faster on everything off road
With the ENVE bars it turns out a lot neater. Specially with the way the bars don’t have a hole at the end. Unless you hacksaw the ends off. Been doing it for a few years now without any issues, but mostly just on ENVE bars
I love the bike, but here's a quick tip for the video aspect: Remember to give an overarching shot of the bike and components, then go into the details. That way, it can help non-bike people follow what's happening and give the video a slower and methodical vibe.

I think RtR is an excellent thing. It’s one of the main reason I hate cup and cone bearings in wheels as well. Everything should be made to last longer or be repaired easily. Have you had a look at Sour Bikes yet. They are from Dresden. Looks pretty good. Would love to try one.
@@NicVieriMechanic No havent, did now for 1 1/2h and tbh im not sold... at least yet. Their Gravel Purple Haze is 3000 for 2x11 GRX /w Duke wheels and hub... Genesis offers the 2x12 croix for 3000... Frame+Fork is 1400€ but no mention of any inovative Tube shaping and the steel is just some "CroMo". Also 300g heavier than a Secan, which is 1500€ish. Groupsets are a bit weird the shimanos: 2x11comes with 47/30T 11-32T(!) kassette, the 1x11 with 40T 10-45T and the 1x12 with 40T 11-45T. Idk, if I see one live and ridden it ima let u know.

I don’t think the ridiculous divebombs will ever stop until they change the rules in F1. It’s the biggest most popular series out there, so is inevitably going to be the most influential. Hopefully they see sense and get the rules changed before next season.
So far they have been great. Went out in a ride yesterday and it was mega slippy out, but the Ikons didn’t miss a step once. One of the other lads we were riding with wasn’t as lucky though. Snapped his leg 😬

I've just fitted an AXS Rival groupset and could do with you showing the bleeding process. I had to buy a new rear shifter and caliper as the first one leaked when unscrewing the syringe and the new one isn't really much better. Is the rear supposed to be softer that the front?
That is going to be the other side of the channel. Some How-To videos. The rear could be the tiniest bit softer, but not noticeably at all. As soon as you get the procedure for bleeding right, it’s mega easy. I’ll get the video made.
The main bonus is that you can decide which side you are routing from. So if you want to go from the hoods down to the callipers. You cut the Caliper side. And vice versa. 🤷🏻♂️
Just curious, since Backyard is a _custom-only_ shop, what's the percentage breakdown of your customers who choose SRAM AXS vs. Shimano Di2 vs. _anything_ mechanical?
It’s about 90% SRAM I’d say. We used to be 90% Shimano, but with the new products it’s slowly swung the other way around. I’d say less 10% is mechanical now. Mostly GRX and the odd Campag build we sometimes do

It's the way I prefer to wrap my bars, center to end, so no finishing tape needed. And they don't unwrap for me (which some say is the reason to wrap in the other direction).

I tend to swap between tires every couple of joints to test different ones out. But to be honest these have been really good one the first two rides. Well at least where we ride. My usual go to is Michelin
@@Tarmaccyclocross except a mountain bike is way slower on the flat stuff. And can’t stick road wheels on one either 🤷🏻♂️ Current mountain bikes have become super good. Almost too easy to ride on technical trails. Gravel bikes offer that fear of death we used to have. A lot more can go wrong

The current campag stuff looks great, but it just doesn’t work as well unfortunately. If only they focused their wireless tech into the Ekar group set instead of a slightly less crazy expensive Super Record. On the wheels front. They wouldn’t last 3 months up here unfortunately. Their cup and cone bearings are just not up to the wet and mud we have 😞
Just the mere wording, gravel bike - pisses me off beyond reason.. its a fkg cyclo-x bike for god's sake! and an mtb is now a Motocross bike WITHOUT and engine, which can't go uphill
Well technically speaking it’s not a CX bike. They have higher bb’s, much steeper angles, are designed to shouldered easily and limited to about 35mm tire clearance. Hybrid would technically be the right term for “gravel” bikes. But does it really matter what you call it? 🤷🏻♂️
It's really not. A CX bike is like a road bike with a nuts BB height and clearance, designed for short blasts. Gravel bikes...are a bit more chill. Even if there's zero gravel in the UK 😂
@matthewlewis2072 their is in Wales and Scotland mostly on forest tracks/fire roads.. but then an MTB could tackle these no problems, then mtbs became a motorbike without an engine and does more distance up and down than 'up a hill'... NOW 'gravel bikes' can do what an MTB used to do cept they've got drop bars just like John Tomac used to have, 1 day, someone will (re)design an 80's mtb 🙃

Hi, why do you only use the anti seize on the crankarm and nowhere else?
That’s the only bit that tends to seize on. I use waterproof grease for everything else.

No, it’s not always necessary. If you face a chromed frame you risk damage it. Which will cause you loads of issues with time.

I tend to swap between tires every couple of joints to test different ones out. But to be honest these have been really good one the first two rides. Well at least where we ride.

Current mountain bikes have become super good. Almost too easy to ride on technical trails. Gravel bikes offer that fear of death we used to have. A lot more can go wrong

Nice video NIck, but putting SRAM on this gorgeous Made-in-Italy bicycle is like scrawling a mustache on the Mona Lisa with a felt pen. Should have been Campagnolo - groupset + wheels. If you're gonna slap SRAM on something, get it from China!
The current campag stuff looks great, but it just doesn’t work as well unfortunately. If only they focused their wireless tech into the Ekar group set instead of a slightly less crazy expensive Super Record.
On the wheels front. They wouldn’t last 3 months up here unfortunately. Their cup and cone bearings are just not up to the wet and mud we have 😞

Just the mere wording, gravel bike - pisses me off beyond reason.. its a fkg cyclo-x bike for god's sake! and an mtb is now a Motocross bike WITHOUT and engine, which can't go uphill
Well technically speaking it’s not a CX bike. They have higher bb’s, much steeper angles, are designed to shouldered easily and limited to about 35mm tire clearance.
Hybrid would technically be the right term for “gravel” bikes.
But does it really matter what you call it? 🤷🏻♂️

It's really not. A CX bike is like a road bike with a nuts BB height and clearance, designed for short blasts. Gravel bikes...are a bit more chill. Even if there's zero gravel in the UK 😂
@matthewlewis2072 their is in Wales and Scotland mostly on forest tracks/fire roads.. but then an MTB could tackle these no problems, then mtbs became a motorbike without an engine and does more distance up and down than 'up a hill'... NOW 'gravel bikes' can do what an MTB used to do cept they've got drop bars just like John Tomac used to have, 1 day, someone will (re)design an 80's mtb 🙃
