Just stop, everyone loves Bruce when they are reminded by hearing one of songs. Can you say "underrated" without actually saying "underrated"? Pfffftttt

My sister’s company managed Bruce for several years. I got to meet him once and he fist bumped me when I went shake his hand. He looked at me and said “gotta protect the hands. You might be stronger than me.” We both laughed.
Weeks later my dad passed away. My sisters and I each got a beautiful, hand written card from him and his wife! As good a man as musician!

The thing I notice about this song is that he doesn't say "watch the rain", or "watch my tears"; he says "listen to the mandolin rain", and "listen to my tears roll down my face". Normally you don't hear things like mandolins in the rain, or the sound of tears. All of the feelings and emotions in the song are explained by the sounds of music, and specific instruments. "Listen to the banjo wind's sad song driftin' low..." A man of music using the language he knows best to let his pain out for the loss of his love.
My, oh my...what a way to express something that is so very hard to express.

This song always makes me cry. Many years ago before my husband and I got married, we were going through some intense times. I went out of town to my parents’ home near the lake to clear my head. My husband showed up a few days later and we reconciled. He took me to dinner at a wonderful Italian restaurant on the lakefront. We sat on the patio and the piano player played this song. I’ll never forget it. Years later, we’re still going strong, married and in love. Now we live on a beautiful island on the coast.

I'm from the VA/NC "Lake Country" referenced in this song. In fact, there's a picture of Bruce holding my newborn second cousin at my aunt's house. This is the Virginia sound--country, pop, bluegrass, and jazz all swirled into one... In case you didn't know, the red fruit shown in the video are pomegranates, a common fruit used as a Christmas decoration in Virginia. I was 19 when this song was released, but it represents my whole life. Love you guys!

I took a University 101 course. It was to aid freshman to adjust to university life. I didn't want to take it, but my parents made me. I chose the 1 day a week one-every Wednesday 5-8 PM. As fate would have it, Halloween happened to fall on that day! A week earlier, a classmate told our instructor Mr. Pruitt he would be missing class. He said, "I'm going to the Dead Halloween show P.rofessor asked, "Where are your seats? He said, "In the nosebleeds" Mr. Pruitt replied, "That's a shame! What am I going to do with your ticket along with the rest of these on row 2? The guy yelled, "DUDE, YOU ARE THE COOLEST!😂😂
The show was awesome! We all dress in costumes much like those in attendance! Years later I bought the CD you're referring to. I'm a huge Hornsby fan. As well as a Grateful Dead one. As a jazz person I got it also because I think Branford Marsalis played on it as well.

One of my favorite all-time songs. So perfectly put together. His voice with the piano & mandolin in the background is just so good.

Yes! He/they are so awesome!💖 In the last year my husband and I were heading to a concert and a song came on the radio and I said to him "Google the pianist. It has to be Bruce Hornsby." I was right!

The first time I heard of Bruce Hornsby it was with the Grateful dead (he was their keyboard player from 90 until 92)I felt in love with his singing and and playing and with his song like the way it is (another you should check) he’s just a genius. Go RAPTORS!! #WeTheNorth

Huey Lewis was a big fan and played and sang back up for them on "Down The Road Tonight", another great song. You should add it to your list.

I have probably watched a couple hundred of your videos at this point. While many of these songs have been in my life for decades, it feels like I'm hearing them for the first time again through your eyes. The authenticity with which you absorb the music and genuine fun you have doing what you do is infectious. I find myself coming to UA-cam and rewatching your reaction videos rather than the original. Thank you so much for what you do.

I am so stoked that you all have discovered Bruce Hornsby. He is such a phenomenal pianist and singer. If you haven’t checked it out already, another place you can hear Bruce play, though not sing is on Don Henley’s (formerly of the Eagles) steller song “The End of Innocence”. Bruce co-wrote, and co-produced this song with Don, though Don sang it. It is a haunting song with extremely meaningful lyrics that ring as true today as they did back in 1989 when the song was originally released. I am a Gen-Xer (NOT a Baby Boomer). And there is something about the End of Innocence including Bruce’s piano that gave voice to the angst, anxiety, and anger that many of us were feeling then, and still feel now.

God it takes me right back to 1986/1987. God I miss the 1980s so much. No computerized instruments. Actual piano and instruments recorded in the studio. There will never be another times like the 70s-90s
