Great video and excellent information. I have been collecting sneakers (Jordans and other brands) since 1984 so I can definitely relate with what you're saying. Great content and you definitely have an interesting collection. Love the Nike Air Ships in your collection - I remember copping those back in 1985 in white/red, white/navy and white/purple - rocked them in high school.

Two pairs of my j's crumbled on me in one day. I was in school and I was wearing my french blue 12s. I was hooping, thinking they were wearable. I was wrong, because I made a sharp turn, and boom, outsole flew off. Then, I had to go get some shoes from the house. I got the chrome 6 lows I had in my closet. Got to school, went right back to the court, and boom, another sharp turn and another crumbled shoe. I was 12 at the time, so cut me some slack lmao. Just wanted to share this funny story

I got the ‘05 undefeated Dunk NLs used for this reason. Saved about 600 bucks not buying and DS pair and I can rock them. Them being worn over the last 16 years is what made them hold up and continue to be wearable for me!
You think an 06 pair of dunk low sb would be wearable it looks to be worn
The most durable Jordan's are the ones made with a phylon midsole.The X, XI, XII, XIII, XIV, and the XV, I believe. They can be reglued/restored without needing a donor midsole. The 1's aren't prone to crumbling per se, but they have a polyurethane wedge and an air unit on the inside. Those inner materials will crumble with time. Also, the rubber outsole on 1's can crack with age and will break around the flex groves in the outsole. A donor sole will be needed. The great thing today is that sneaker restoration has come a LOOOOOONG way since the early 2000's. There are people who can do perfect midsole swaps and reglues on OG's and retros from the early 2000's so your shoes can still be DS and not falling apart with midsole pieces in your shoe box looking like pie crust

My superstar Adidas 03 still wearable and all together. Wear your shoes!! All my nike air baltoro sneaker boots are falling apart none of my adidas are.🤔

I'm like dude you were dripped out for free for a month shut up. I have stories for days about shoes tearing up on me as I'm walking somewhere but again they were all nike or puma. I just copped some Dave hite Jordan 1's (10 year old kicks), been wanting these but could not find my size with a reasonable price... i was able to cop these from Flightclub at a super reasonable price and i copped.... I will be rocking these... but hopefully i can rock them without them falling apart. lol

Wear them still brother. I rock I rock I rock fuck that it's why I do it for the feeling of it falls apart. Then I'll try to get them or restore them myself. I rock my 96 white and reds I just bought DS gingers and im wear them and if they fall apart then I'll fix them. Like you say you need to know what your buying. Wearing the shoes in the house has been the smartest thing I've done while checking and taking care of my kicks. And I've recently myself had to start to get rid of alot of my ogs it's so heart breaking lol. The glue holding the leather uppers together on my DS OG 97 flu games kinda dried up causing the sneakers to fall apart.

In my experience with 3s this will eventually happen so either you just keep it as a collection piece or use and enjoy it until it crumbles.

Going to wear my Oreo 6’s I just got near dead stock. The paint is starting to split near the front on one of them but the midsole is still strong when giving it pressure. I’m the type of person that wants to see shoes worn to the end of their life.

Ive had 3 retro jordans that i bought in 2013 that all fell apart after 9 years under different circumstances. My jordan 3s that were used about once per week except during the pandemic had the midsole crumble. My jordan 14 that was also heavily used did not have its midsole crumble but its upper started to fall apart and the soles hardened and lost traction. The last pair was lightly used spizikes that i was not able to use for 5 years then used once last year and the midsole just crumbled after using it once that year. Ive also had an sb dunk bought in the same year(2013) that was heavily used more than the jordans and died the same year but this was due to the rubber sole hardening and cracking while losing its traction. I dont know if this is due to the hot and humid climate i live in. Surprisingly my most durable vintage shoe is my beloved sb dunk broncos which is a 2003 model and still fully intact but due to the sole hardening and losing traction ive decided to retire last year which i purchased used in 2010 and used once a week from 2010-2020.

Only og 7s from 1991 and 92 can crumble since they had an encapsulated air unit. The first round of retros from 02 used a different type of midsole that made them immune from crumbling, the only thing you have to worry about is midsole and outsole seperation on the retros.
