Bringing Dead Js Back To Life: 1985 Air Jordan 1 Restoration

- The 1985 Air Jordan 1 is arguably the best sneaker release in the sneaker game, but how many people can say they still wear them in 2023?!
In today's Customs and Restorations with Vick, Vick pairs up to deconstruct and rebuild a 1985 Jordan 1 Royal to a wearable condition with the help of Flippin Kickz. The full deconstruction process started with removing that outsole/ midsole that literally crumbled in the hands of these two restorers. From there it was time to take this sneaker from its crumbling condition to refurbished.
This project took days, but hey we would say it was well worth the work! Now we will see Vick rockin' 85 Jordan 1s around the office as his "flex." If you could wear this pair would you?!

the marina blue soles was a smart touch, mainly because the uppers are left to look OG and aged. But because of the lightened shade of royal on the uppers the sole match up nicely with that aged factor

Bro, hype video! The both of you two taught me how to de/reconstruct a shoe. Yes ive seen it before but never in such detail. Gave me confidents to do it myself, and ive never done it before. I was in grade school when this came out in 85', I had the OG Chicago at the time and I also really wanted this as well, but can't afford it (my mom wouldn't buy me a 2nd pair 😊). My all time fave J1 colorway.

Yep - I've decided. This is my favourite I've seen from Vic (and FK) - love the minimal touch up paintjob so you know they are OG but rebuilding like new on the inside - dope! I watched a vid from 4 years ago - same shoes but not '85s - there was a comment saying that you wouldn't be able to repair a split on the right shoe - you should go back and reply to that comment ;)

Honestly really cool. I'm not a sneaker head, but this is really cool. I just got my first pair of Jordans after watching the Nike Air movie and they aren't originals or anything, but they're the same design just modern and the colors I like. They're the Air Jordan 1 Zoom CMFT 2 in blue/black/orange. I had a really hard time putting them on the first time and after I realized they were suade I found your water and stain repellent spray. I had just finished applying the 2nd coat before watching this video and I bought some stretch laces that I just installed and I'm absolutely in love with them. Unfortunately I got the shoe lace length wrong, so gotta return and order the correct length, but these are incredibly easy to put on now in comparison to before and now I don't have to worry about wearing them out.
I came back to this video and I’m so ready for the reimagined royals that’s coming later this year and will probably beat them up a bit with some light sanding around the shoe to give it that true og look and probably going to do the same thing to my lost and founds ones are just a shoe that looks good the more you beat it up

Hi Reshoevn8r,
First of all, good job. I noticed something, though. I'm not sure if this also applies to J's, but most of the time, shoe makers are using wooden shoe pattern templates for the shoes thus giving it shape. It like defines the shoes' shape by stretching the material, in this case leather, to the shape of the wood. Then glueing it to the bottom with it still in place. When all is done, they'll remove it and proceed with the stitching. Your creations are great, all that is lacking is that defined shape.
Maybe you can try that method, too, for the next video.

Fantastic video guys, I think you sould have picked up a Jordan 1 85' Georgetown soles, painting the bottom on blue and then sew them, i think they had looked more 85ish, even, you are great guys Im glad to see this videos ❤️

If you guys give the trenton & heathe channel a look you may find a better way to get after that side stitching on the midsole. These guys are professional cobblers
