Prince was an amazing guitarist. I never understood how anyone could overlook his brilliance. It's sad that his death finally gave him the recognition he so richly deserved while he was still with us.
Steve Winwood is playing the organ and Jeff Lynn is the singer with the black hair and sunglasses. He is with Electric Light orchestra. Tom Petty with the long white hair playing guitar.
Oh man Prince is about to give it to ya. Can't wait to see how you react. I'm old enough to know what he can do to a guitar. There are a whole bunch of 80's baby guitars out there that look great in purple.
Tom was NOT annoyed with Prince. Tom was interviewed afterword and was blown away by Prince's performance (according to Tom's words). Tom and Prince were friends and spoke a few times a year by phone.
@@jjjones8609 I don't think there's hardly a performing musician alive who would be annoyed at getting to back an iconic Prince solo at an iconic event like George's memorial. You didn't ask Prince to come play to have him standing up straight and playing straight too. How many people have seen this recording now because he completely killed it!
I think Tom was a little gobsmacked at first. He was used to playing with Mike Campbell, who can play anything but is usually pretty restrained when he does and Prince was anything but restrained here. Not mad at Prince, just not used to this kind of performance.

You could only really appreciate this after having listened to all you have listened to on your musical journey. I didn't know Prince was such a great rock guitarist, I regret that I overlooked his talent. What a moment in rock history with all these greats!
WOW!! Wow the guitar players there!!! That is incredible! This must be one of those Rock and Roll Hall of Fame concerts. I remember when George died, it was in 2001 and the country was still very "sensitive" from 9-11 incident and I remember I cried. He was my favorite Beatle then my next was Paul. BIG smile for Prince when he comes on stage from his son! LOVE IT! Prince played to his son, and wow those huge smiles!!
This is one of my all time favorite jams. An all-star line up for a band, with Prince showing off one of his best talents. Hes such an awesome showman, and makes it look like its effortless. I also love your reaction to it. Its always great to see perfection appreciated. His man in front of the stage caught the guitar. You can see Prince glance downwards to make sure he caught it ok. Since I had never seen a Prince show live, I never really knew of his guitar talents until I heard the song "Lets go crazy" when it came out, and the guitar work in that song, plus the sweet solo at the end, sure caught my attention, like its catching yours now.
On top of it being just an astounding performance, I love watching George’s son’s face once Prince plays. He is just having the best time and his grin is amazing.
The entire concert for George is amazing (my dog is named Harrison if you want to know my commitment level to that man). But this performance is legendary. Prince seriously underrated guitarist. 💜 This hurts my heart to watch though after losing Prince and Tom back to back. I cried real tears for both those men, and my teenage boys had to console me.
This is not from the Concert For George. That was Eric Clapton with the band, who plays it the way it's supposed to sound. Eric gets it, Prince doesn't.
Actually, they rehearsed it the night before (Prince really didn't do anything, so the back ground guitarist did everything.) They stopped the rehearsal and asked if Prince was okay. He said yes, they perform the song 1 more time and the same thing happened, the background guitarist did all the heavy work. Every thing you see in this live performance was new to everyone except Prince. I think the lame rehearsal was a ploy from Prince. If he gave the performance that he did during the taping at the rehearsal, it wouldn't have been as exciting. Not to mention they might have told him to tone it down. Prince was a smart performer.
@@jjjones8609 yes they rehearsed twice and Prince let the other guitarist perform the solos. It wasn't until the day of the show that they decided to let Prince do the end guitar solo. No one knew what he was going to do since he didn't practice his solo

This one is epic! I've shared this one around because of Prince's famous guitar solo. His guitar virtuosity is overlooked by many. That is George Harrison's son, Dhani, on Tom Petty's left, our right, with those legends!
Karen Jay did do a reaction video to one of their songs a few months ago -- I think it was Handle with Care!
@@monica11760 Awesome! Thanks!
Darlin', your face when Prince threw his guitar...Yes, Prince is a magician
Prince stole this number and brought down the house! One--if not the best guitar player ever!
And walked off like a £ucking boss!
I listen to this at least once a month!!! I love it!!! I can't believe Tom Petty and Prince are gone.....Love Petty --and Roy Orbison! Watching again!!!
So much greatness on that stage! We old school prince/music fans already know, but prince does not get enough credit for his amazing skills with the guitar.
Prince was in his own world
Prince was an amazing guitarist.
What a magical rendition of a classic! OMG...Prince! What a legend.
I think Tom is annoyed at first. Prince is really feeling it and just takes over. Amazing.
Also love the grin on Dhani Harrison during the solo.
You can start out annoyed at Prince, but you can't stay that way. He just earns your respect each and every time.
Tom was NOT annoyed with Prince. Tom was interviewed afterword and was blown away by Prince's performance (according to Tom's words). Tom and Prince were friends and spoke a few times a year by phone.
Jj Jones that’s good to hear! 👍
@@jjjones8609 I don't think there's hardly a performing musician alive who would be annoyed at getting to back an iconic Prince solo at an iconic event like George's memorial. I've heard people rip on Prince for shredding it and doing his Prince-y showboating at this somber song, but come on.
What a performance by Prince...the Legend of music!
In the end, Prince threw his guitar up to George Harrison to play for the angels.
That guitar didn't need to be played on earth anymore. It served its earthly purpose in that song.
RIP Prince and Tom! The world misses you 🙏💜
While I was watching you watch this video I kept thinking to myself oh, oh my friend you just get ready
WHAT a PERFORMANCE 😍🥰💝👍🤯!!! TOTAL and PURE talent at its VERY best!!! KILLED IT! xx
Maybe you remember who Jeff Lynne is, but just to remind you - he's the lead singer from Electric Light Orchestra (EL0).
I knew it was jeff lol I cannot forget
@@JayveeTV Try some Travelling Wilburys The ultimate supergroup Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison and Tom Petty. also if you didn't know Jeff Lynne has written and produced for the Beatles together and separately, Roy Orbison, Tom Petty, Duane Eddy and more
Jay just wow. Prince such a talented man such a sad loss. R.I.P prince 😇💖💕💖
I wish Prince would have shown off his guitar skills a little more than he did in his career. When you can play like that, people need to see it.
the superbowl.... Why you wanna treat me so bad (first album), Alphabet St, Lovesexy, Red House, purple version....
His best guitar work was in the after shows. Unfortunately there are no videos but plenty of audios. My personal favorite is when he covered The Temptations Just My Imagination which is on UA-cam.
They began to ignore Prince after he became independent and stopped mentioning him commercially. The price you pay for standing up for what’s right
Prince was skilled.... PERIOD!!! Great song, beautiful vocals AND Prince..... Aaaaaaaaaaw Suuuuum!!!
we all cried when Prince passed away in 2016.
This ENTIRE LINE UP WAS SPECTACULAR!!!! I LOVE THEM ALL INDEPENDENTLY...TRUE MUSICIANS LOVE THEIR CRAFT AND ARE EXTRAORDINARY!!! PRINCE WAS A BEAST!!!! 🙏🏽❤️🙏🏽❤️🙏🏽❤️🎵🎵🎵🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵
Can’t beat this fabulous group of musicians!!!!!!✌️💕
‘Prince is a magician’. I can not count the number of times I have watched this video. It’s my happy place. The talent on that stage was epic. Including the man they were honouring.
Every time I watch this rendition I weep, passionately.
Breath taking what Prince could do with any instrument.
THIS is one of my favorite performances!! Prince’s guitar solo still gives me goosebumps. I could listen to this over and over. By the way, Prince plays every instrument that there is and he is self taught. The man was a genius.
Prince was an underrated guitarist.
Wow! It's been a few years since I watched this but never to forget how amazing a tribute this was for George. Prince just stole the show at the end. If he went back in time to 1955 he would put Marty McFly to shame!
Didn't know Prince could play guitar like that...........AWESOME.🎸❤️
Prince like "hold my beer!"
Prince threw his guitar to the gods & said...hold it for me 💔
Can only imagine the music in heaven...sadly, soooooo many GREATS, gone too soon 😔😢
Steve winwood is on organ.
yes, i read the guy on guitar(don't even know his name) didn't think prince belonged on the stage with rockers, and tried to hog the guitar solos. prince told the producer let the other guy have the first solo, and he'd take the last one. HISTORY
Steve Winwood, is on the lead guitar, the guy on the organ(don't know his name) is one of the Beach Boys members.
Christopher O No, you clearly don’t know what Steve Winwood even looks like. He’s on organ. The guy playing lead guitar in the hat is Marc Mann.

Hence the name, PRINCE. What a talented group of artists.❤️
Prince ate this guitar solo up 🔥You rarely hear him mentioned for his guitar playing prowess...underrated for sure. This a great collaborative performance 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Steve Winwood was on the organ. Prince blows my mind every time I see this video. Thanks for the reaction, it was awesome❤️🎶❤️🎶❤️
Prince: sorry boys i got something to say to Rolling Stone
Boys in the band: no argument here, bruh... show em!
Musicians always unite against the unskilled and uninformed critics.
I’m overwhelmed by this beautiful group of artists and song. 🐕. Yes!
Oh wow what a pick! Yes that's Steve Winwood. You need to hear Steve and Eric Clapton together. 😍 #eargasm *Can't Find My Way Home* and others
A favorite of mine. I played it alot right after my dad died.
Kj Robbi..indeed that Winwood /Clapton performance at Crossroads was pretty damn good. As was Steve's guitar work on Dear Mr. Fantasy.
You finally did it LOL, love your reaction, Jeff Lynne from ELO looks the same LOL....Of course Prince can play that guitar....AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!
Music the language of the soul. Music brings all people together. Need that more than ever today.
Steve Winwood is on the keyboard, y'all.
Stevie doesn’t play guitar, listen to Traffic!
Prince. Genius. End of Story
"George caught the guitar," is one of my favorite memes about the end of that one lol
On top of it being just an astounding performance, I love watching George’s son’s face once Prince plays. He is just having the best time and his grin is amazing.
Love Love all these geniuses 🤩🤩🤩💖😍😍😍👍🤭
I was lucky enough to see Prince in concert a few times, and he owned it every time x
I'm still in mourning for both of them. I think I'm in disbelief. 💜💔💜
@@cici7333 and George. :( :( :(
This is not from the Concert For George. That was Eric Clapton with the band, who plays it the way it's supposed to sound. Eric gets it, Prince doesn't.
I agree with you -- the Concert for George is amazing.
Prince...killed it🔥🔥🔥 Tom Petty and Steve Winwood killed it too. This was Prince’s “hold my beer moment”😂
Prince played ALL the instruments on his first 4 albums! Dude can literally play any instrument!
Prince was the GOAT! In his life, Prince released 39 studio albums Wrote, produced and performed all his own music in his own studio @ Paisley Park!!
Probably one of the greatest collabs EVER!! Who TF would have the audacity to give these legends a thumbs down?!?!
I’m not sure but I have a troll who dislikes all my videos as soon as I post it
And apparently prince did that with no rehearsal. Just showed up
I absolutely believe it!
@@jjjones8609 Yeah, that's what I meant in that they didn't know what he was gonna do haha
@@jjjones8609 yes they rehearsed twice and Prince let the other guitarist perform the solos. It wasn't until the day of the show that they decided to let Prince do the end guitar solo. No one knew what he was going to do since he didn't practice his solo
@@yousexymf With them. I assure you Prince knew what he was going to do before he hit the stage.
One of my favorite Prince guitar performances of all time! ❤️
wow. never saw this cover, pretty incredible.
Me: giddy waiting with excitement to see the look on his face when Prince's solo comes in.😂😂😂😂
He shredded each. and. every. single. cat. on that stage.💯 The GoAT💜🤘🏽
Love the Prince guitar solo on this one! I come here from Jamal's channel, first time I'm watching one of your videos, enjoy! and PS you just earned a new sub from me. I look forward to seeing more of what you do man.
Welcome to the family.
You going to love Jay’s reactions there awesome
Oh I like Jamal! You're gonna love it here! Our J makes me 'big smile' all the time! Welcome! 😁
YES! PRINCE! Show them how it's done! 💜
Such a beautiful tribute to George Harrison. ❤️
