This performance was his FU to Rolling Stone, I believe, because they left him off the list of best guitarist. He was like, "I'll show ALLL of you!". Iconic legend. May he RIP.
@@bethtanner4481 Well yeah, if you don't mind those other dudes. Bob Dylan, George Harrison and Roy Orbison. Roy was the only one who had Elvis worried in the '50s. Elvis thought Roy could sing better than him. Roy had more hits in the '80s.
Jayy? You've ever seen "Purple Rain"? Yep, he could play 27 instruments. When he was in high school, he was known to just walk into the music room, pick up an instrument and start playing. He was self taught.

One of the best things about this video is Prince's expression when he does his solo...he has such a delightfully devilish look on his face cause he knew he GOT this and his sheet joy and talent on the guitar....he knew how to make a guitar weep. One of the most underrated musicians of my generation. RIP.
This collaboration of legends is so soulful that you feel the guitars weep. I had the opportunity of going to a Prince show in the early 80's at the Worcester Centrum, MA. Fantabulous show and I was mesmerized...what creative skills he had and a performer like no other. Tom Petty, I am still in denial that he is gone. The Heartbreakers can't play their music anymore and my favorite rock singer/band. RIP TP! Nice review girl!
RIP to Prince and Tom Petty . They definitely stole the show of this performance , especially Mr. Prince. Nice tribute to the late George Harrison of the Beatles by the way.
Miss JAYY, Prince was the best guitar player that this world has ever seen or ever will.. I am just a bit bias since his music was the soundtrack of my life.. I simply cannot understand how people don't know just how good he was on Any instrument that he picked up.. The Purple Yoda is the hole package.. Most of his albums are him playing Every instrument and doing All voices.. Out of the 40+ albums that he released, there were only a few with other people playing and singing on them.. Prince sung All the vocals and played all 27 instruments on his first album "For You", which he released at the age of only 20.. Listen to that album and you will hear how good he was as a teenager.. Of course, he got much better with time, but from the "get go" he was/is Everything.. It has been over 5 years since he left this world and I still can't believe that he is gone.. But, he left us with so much music that we will never run out.. In his vault, there is enough music to release an album every year for the rest of this century and then some.. I miss U, my brother and I'll see U on the other side..
I knew you were gonna freak on prince playing, young ones don’t realize what a musical genius he was, played every instrument, arranged, wrote and produced all his own, amazing
💜I started listening to Prince in 1977 (the year before his 1st solo album For You came out) when I was 9 years old. I still have the 1st album he played/sang/wrote for "Minneapolis Genius" by his cousin by marriage Pepe Willie. Later, he worked for Prince a lot of years. My first ever concert was Prince April 8, 1982 (the concert is on youtube). I've seen him so many times. One of the best moments (considering he only toured for Purple Rain 6 months) was being close enough to touch him, screaming my head off "Prince I Love You" & him looking directly at me & saying "I Love You Too Baby"!!! His label wanted him to tour another year but he refused since he had already completed record his next album Around The World In a Day.💜 **FUN Facts: The cover art is a painting. It shows Prince with blonde hair. He had his hair dyed blonde but had a bad reaction & his hair (he had beautiful hair) broke off so bad that he had to have it dyed back dark & most of it cut off, but they had to do some scene reshoots for the movie Purple Rain. Since he had cut his hair they had to make a wig for him for those scenes. His hair grew really fast & I loved it long. He said it looked good blowing in the air when he did guitar solos but he liked it short. 💜**Another Fun Fact: The video for the song KISS. There are 2 different women in the video (not twins or related at all) One was hired for her face/close-ups. The other was hired to dance (covered with the big sheer black scarf. **You've seen her before! She was in Coming to America in the club scene. She's the last girl in blue w/short curly hair (yes she's Black) talking to Them about being in videos putting them to sleep. Yes that IS her. I read the whole story as she told it. She said after the video shoot Prince sent her the scarf from the video but she didn't know what to think of that & no, he never hit on her. Also, Vanity (Prince's ex Denise Matthews), her sister was also in that club scene near the beginning. Her lines were "I have a secret. I worship the devil". Eddie Murphy was dating her at the time. He & Prince were friends & that's how he met her.
Every time I see a reaction to this song I tear up. Yes this is an amazing song with amazing artists, but I actually spent time with Prince in the 80’s. I was a mere technician and was blessed to see and hear many great artists. But there will never be another Brutha like Prince! RIP PRN!!✊🏾✊🏾
Prince was an ALL around entertainer. He was a fabulous and unique performer who actually had a great sense of humor too! This is from George Harrison's solo induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Prince was a beast on guitar. The guy with the black hat is Jeff Lynne (ELO and the Travelling Wilburys). George's son, Dhani, is behind Tom Petty and Prince. He looks like a George clone. Jeff, Tom, and Dhani, along with Paul, Ringo, Eric Clapton and a bunch of other musicians performed at the Concert for George (a tribute on the 1st anniversary of his death) . George's widow joked that with Dhani on stage with all those other guys it looked like George remained young while everyone else got old.

There was greatness on the stage that night, amazing musicians all of them. However, Prince is a once in a lifetime artist, his talents & versatility run deep. I hope you explore more Prince, he's one of my all time favorites. I think his music is healing, he followed his muse and asserted total control over his art.
