    In regards to the MIDI Channel Through option: I have M-Audio Air MIDI controller, it allows me to select up to 16 MIDI channels from the keyboard itself. When I load Kontakt and import, for example, three different libraries, with midi channels 1,2,3, the keyboard is connected only to the library that is on the 1st midi channel. Even if I select the 2nd or 3rd midi channel on my keyboard, the other libraries do not become active. When I have engaged MIDI Channel Through, and I have selected the 2nd midi channel on my keyboard, the library on midi channel 2 becomes the active one. So if you have loaded up 16 libraries in Kontakt, each on different midi channel, you can select which one will be triggered by your keyboard.

    This is such an amazing find... I needed this topic explained exactly like this... while I've been learning production daily for years now, there are certain topics/techniques that , yes, i utilize , but feel that if i knew certain things all the way thru like i do in other areas, i could unlock new inspiration. It's just for rmw whatever reason, i just can't lock my brain around certain things... And i always seem to find tutorials that either assume too much or are just too much to follow for whatever reasons, or at least for my add to deal w/ lol...
    Anyway, i appreciate the extra details, explanations and examples. #subbed

    Great stuff fella. It seems that these things should be some of the first things someone should learn in this vastly technical field of music production. And yet two years into this process I'm here on this channel scratching my noggin. However, your approach to teaching this boring side of music is also boring but highly retainable. I feel that so many producers talk way too fast when describing something they obviously understand, but we don't and fast teachers have us getting tired pausing and rerwinding. It gets so annoying at times I just give up. So thanks a bunch for your time and teaching me slowly. Hehehe

    I am having difficulty with something that I might be overcomplicating for myself. I have a generic expression pedal hooked up to my NI S49 mk2.
    I want my expression pedal to be a secondary control for the CC1 modwheel parameter. Can I have two things (in this case the keyboard modwheel and the expression pedal) control the modwheel?
    Great channel. Thanks.

    • @ScaleAudio
      @ScaleAudio  10 місяців тому +1

      That is a good question. I’ve never tried to do what you are asking. You could see if your mk2 has setting that allow you to change the expression pedal to CC1 also. You can also try using the midi out plugin and see if it will allow you to assign 2 knobs to the same CC#. Then you can just use that midi out channel as a middle man between you and whatever virtual instrument you want to play.

    • @ScaleAudio
      @ScaleAudio  Рік тому

      Depends on which input/output you're referring to. which VST is it? Also, what are you trying to achieve by changing the input/output on your vst?

  • @Studio7g

    i have an MPD26 and the knobs give random inputsq without me touching it, is there any way to disable some midi controlls so it doesnt interfere with others?

    • @ScaleAudio
      @ScaleAudio  Рік тому

      Nothing I can really think of. If you go to your Midi settings and turn off "auto accept detected controller" that could help. "Auto accept detected controller" is what makes it so that you can simply turn a knob and have that knob on your midi controller automatically attach to a parameter within FL Studio. If you turn off the "Auto Accept" option, you will have to manually accept the controller you are linking. Besides that, I'm not sure to be honest.

    I really don't understand FL studio, for not sticking to the MIDI standard, used by every other DAW!! This is so convoluted. Why cant I just have an option to set my Sustain pedal to CC64.
    Not a setting within a vst that is CC64 of that one plug in??
    I mean How hard can it be to implement this. And the worst one is the Pitch Bend wheel wheel!! A lot of VST's do not have that option. So I can only use the wrapper option for this.
    But when I open a new project, my setting for the Pitch bend all default being set to nothing.
    I realise I can set up a template, and start from there.
    Pitch bend, MOD wheel CC1, Aftertouch, and Sustain Pedal CC64, these are all common settings which should all connect without having to program them.
    Great Video though, you explain everything well. Thanks..

    • @ScaleAudio
      @ScaleAudio  Рік тому +1

      Yeah, some things like the inability to program transport controls kills me a bit. Happy the video was informational!

    • @AutPen38
      @AutPen38 Місяць тому

      My understanding is that the original creator of FL hated (parts of) the MIDI standard, so refused to implement it fully and people have had to use workarounds ever since. It's really annoying that some very basic things don't work straight out of the box. A few makers of MIDI keyboards/controllers don't even put the FL logo on their packaging (with all the other DAWs that work immediately with their devices) or supply MIDI templates for FLS because it's such a pain.

    How can I make a button on my midi controller change the current selected channel? For some reason the controller is already dooing this but it's not the right buttons and not the right channels it's selecting when pressing the buttons how can I solve this?

    • @ScaleAudio
      @ScaleAudio  Рік тому

      If you can program the #CC's assigned to each button on your midi controller, then you can check and see which #CC is assigned to the button you said is changing the selected channel. Once you figure out those settings you can program that same #CC to the button of your preference. They could be MMC info besides CC as well but regardless, if you can replicate the settings of the button that is already doing it and apply those settings to the button of your preference you should be good to go. FL Studio itself doesn't offer much customization or help regarding special actions like changing the selected channel. With that said you have to make the changes on your controller. The most customization you have for these things is choosing a preset in the Midi Settings menu. Generally changing these presets will change which #CC's effect which MMC or CC destinations within FL Studio. You don't get much of a choice past the presets though.

    • @ScaleAudio
      @ScaleAudio  Рік тому

      If you are seeing it on screen then it’s most likely not a midi issue unless there is a velocity problem. If you are trying to hear audio from the keyboard, the keyboard doesn’t actually send audio info, only note, and other value information that is used for velocity, knob positions, and other parameters within FL Studio. What plug-in or instrument are you trying to play with your device?

      Completely different than performance mode which is meant for FKJ style live performances minus.. the live recording. At least according to the FL Studio user manual cuz that’s where I got that fact from. I don’t use performance mode though so I’m not we’ll versed in it and maybe there’s a workaround. However, you are correct in a normal context. Edison is an audio editor, you can record live into the playlist as well as into the editor.
