    • @ScaleAudio
      @ScaleAudio  2 роки тому

      That’s a very specific situation I’ve never had experience with, nor would I know how to recreate that situation to troubleshoot. My best advice would be to make sure all drivers and software are up to date. If your midi controller worked before and everything is up to date then try to revert to previous versions of the driver or FL studio.

Other videos on UA-cam just made me confused and losing interest in that... . But I'm sure once i get the understanding of it, it can be a very powerful tool to express n create..... And what are the advantages of using ur MIDI controller with an audio interface on FL studio......coz i just ordered some equipment including audio interface to start making my own home music studio

      Sorry for the late response! I do not have any videos for that specific topic regarding making music with an MPK3 + MPC Beats in FL Studio. I can however tell you that the advantage of using midi through an audio interface is latency. Your interface is like a centralized place for processing the audio for your music, so if you feed the MIDI directly to it, you will most likely see latency improvements.

    Thanks for your video! It was pretty good, but I had a different issue and maybe you or someone else can help me. Whenever I record with my MIDI, at the moment when I stop recording, the notes lose their shape and they are positioned automatically in places where it doesn't make any sense. I thought it could be the quantization but is not. Any idea of what could be affecting it?

    • @ScaleAudio
      @ScaleAudio  2 роки тому +2

      Could be your global snap to grid on which is in your toolbar up top. Or it could be the option in your audio settings that lets you choose “mixer”, “hybrid”, “driver (I think)”. I’m not at my laptop so I don’t 100% remember what it’s called.
      The global snap to grid can cause odd quantization if it’s not on one of the top 3 options in the drop down.
      And the one in the audio settings can cause weird glitches and malfunctions.
      Let me know if either of those options help.

    Nice video!
    I have a question. I have 2 MIDI controllers and I want to record 2 VSTs independently with them, for example, one playing chords and the other playing the lead, just to say something. I managed to get 2 VSTs to receive signals from the controllers respectively using the input and output ports in the MIDI section of the wrapper settings of those VSTs. After all that, my main question is, now that I managed to get them to sound independently, how can I record that using notes and automations in a pattern?
    And of course I want to record both VSTs with the controllers at the same time.

    • @ScaleAudio
      @ScaleAudio  Місяць тому

      Hello! Sorry for the late response. If you right-click the record button, you should have options for what you want to record. There should be an option for Automation, and an option for notes. You'll want to make sure those are checked. After that, you should be able to hit the record button, press play, and go for it! If you have any issues with Latency when recording, I recommend using an ASIO driver.

    X goes up and down, Y goes left and right.

    could you please create a tutorial on linking Midi controls to buttons like "play/ Pause" "forward/backward on playlist" "open/close channel rack" or how to map controls to similar ones via the MIDI CC's corresponding numbers? I recently got a MPK mini 3 and really thought it would be really cool and more efficient but i've been trying to figure this out for hours now but im not sure which CC's correspond to what inputs in FL

    • @ScaleAudio
      @ScaleAudio  2 роки тому +1

      Hey Bebay! Although I’m unsure of the setup process required I know the “play, pause, forward, and backward” are considered transport controls. I do know you have to make sure master sync is on and that your output and input ports match to use these transport controls. However, with that said, I’ve never actually used midi transport controls myself. Since you brought it up I’ll see what I can figure out. From my understanding transport controls use what’s called mmc messages but you may be able to program them to CC’s onboard the akai mini.

    • @ScaleAudio
      @ScaleAudio  2 роки тому +1

      Hey just took some time to check it out. Basically FL Studio recognizes MMC Information instead of CC info. So you have to change it on your controller if your controller can even do that. To check if your sending CC info look at the top left when you click the play or pause button. Does it light up orange or green? if green its CC if orange its MMC. I was incorrect about the master sync in my previous comment. It is unneeded to send transport info only to receive and sync it which we don't care about here. Will be making video soon.

      First thing I would start with is checking to make sure the drivers for it are installed and updated. I would probably visit their website and see what kind of downloads they offer for that specific model. After that, if it still doesn't work, I would make sure that all the drivers on the computer are updated, sometimes you can run into compatibility issues if they aren't. If you have a Dell computer, you can use a tool from them called dell support assist. Also, how are you plugging it in? are you going by midi into an interface or by USB?

    • @ScaleAudio

      Does your MIDI controller have a screen on it that will allow you to display the #CC or MMC options for each key or parameter? If it shows these things and you are able to change them, I would create a preset for FL Studio where you remove everything except the #CC assignments. You could also see if you controller has other presets that might work better with FL Studio.

    FL STUDIO USERS: how do you guys do your expressions with kontakt instruments? I have a oriental strings library, which has “heart of violins” expression (Crescendo Decrescendo). Linking Midi cc11 to the mod wheel is suppose to do the job, but the way fl studio is, it doesn’t work as it should. When i link the cc11 it just does the regular dynamics like how it would be with orchestral libraries. Even the image line employees from the forum admitted that what im trying to do isnt so simple & even if i get a expression pedal it wont work. I'm not 100% clear on what you are experiencing. With that said, if you look at the toolbar on the top of FL Studio, to the far right side of your metronome is a button that should say "Loop Recording". This may be your culprit. If your notes are still holding, the issue will likely be related to envelope settings within whichever plugin you are using. There could also be related settings on your MIDI keyboard although, if this was the case, it would effect everything you play.

All internal sounds are in time no issue..gui isn’t lagging or anything..I’m triggering a Korg Nautilus with local control off connected to my mac over usb directly. Not sure if the usb connection is the culprit or not since I don’t have an audio interface with a traditional midi connection. I would’ve assumed a usb connection would be faster than OG midi? But yea for some reason even with the lowest latency settings only external midi lags. I noticed when in settings clicking on debug showed a list of “generic controller not handled -timing clock”. Not sure if that’s the norm or a true indicator of the issue.

      I’m not sure. In your wrapper settings for Kontakt, you could try setting your midi output port to a specific number, and then setting the input port of the target instrument to the same number. If the midi information translates, you can record the midi like you would any other midi information. If you right click the record button, there should be an option for midi information. I think it says “notes” (I could be wrong). You want to make sure that is checked before you record.

      @ScaleAudio  2 роки тому

      @@kettenlaiho3983 gotchya. So your controlling the synth with fl studio not fl studio with the synth? Is your aftertouch pad an xy controller or is there more options on it? Looking in FL studios midi out plug-in you can set a knob to an aftertouch controller type in the control settings section after right clicking the knob. If you go into your synths manual you may be able to find out what controller numbers go to what functions on your synth. And if it’s xy and operates on a per axis basis you may be able to find those CC numbers in your manual.

    • @ScaleAudio
      @ScaleAudio  2 роки тому

      Also. If you go to the bottom of your midi input/output page that this video is about you can uncheck auto accept detected controller. If your synth is set to input signal to FL studio you can right click any knob in FL with the auto accept off. And then when you right click a knob and click link to controller, any control you touch on your synth will auto populate that window with its cc number and it’s channel. If it doesn’t auto populate that means it doesn’t correspond to a CC number. Because I don’t have much experience with aftertouch on hardware I’m unsure of the standards for such things.

      @@adampagria2510 yeah, usb doesn’t transfer audio, all your transferring with the usb is MIDI information which is meant to be used to play virtual instruments (hence your kicks playing) or automate and interact with other devices. • @ScaleAudio
      @ScaleAudio  Рік тому

      @@adampagria2510 probably not a microphone cable because they use a different connector than instrument cables. Audacity is software, you would need some kind of hardware that takes signal from the audio cable and converts that into digital audio. This is generally done with an audio interface which is a piece of hardware. There is a ton of them out there. The biggest problem is that audio signal that travels through microphones or guitars or keyboards is considered analog. Which means fluctuations of voltage dictate the sound waves. Computers can’t read or handle that information. Computers do 1’s and 0’s. Either completely on or completely off. So 50% or 75% voltage which can exist in the analog world, cannot exist in the digital computer world. Therefore you need a D/A converter (aka. a Digital/Analog converter) which is one of the main jobs of any audio interface. As long as you have those 2 things, you should be able to record the audio of your performance directly into FL Studio 🤙
