Very, very good and interesting talk about marketing and the importance of understanding and using platforms correctly.
Great talk! Dislikes surely aren't about the talk but about tiktoks reputation. Unfortunate because it's such a great platform for quick communication and marketing that serves games well
how do you see the dislike count
I think it's funny as heck this is the SECOND talk about TikTok, and it's from the SAME COMPANY!
Yeah really side splitting, what's your point?
@@Domarius64 Bot? Or just that slow at making remarks?
@@REXanadu no life? Or just really bad at coming up with insults?
@@Domarius64 pay me $5000 to find out
This was super helpful! Started our tiktok for our studio 2 weeks ago and its a hell to get to learn the platform. so thank you!
Brilliant talk, Grace! Thanks for sharing 👑🧄
Great talk. It’s like a new language for me in my 30’s
I don't understand why this talk got so many dislikes. Tiktok is an awful drug for users, but at the same time extremely useful tool to promote your game. I personally wish things like tiktok or youtube shorts never existed, but we live in the world where they are present and they are dominating, and there's nothing I or you can personally do about it but adapt to the reality and use it as a tool to accomplish our goals.
how can you see the number of dislikes? I can't.
@@PaulFidika google "return UA-cam dislikes". numbers can be inaccurate, because *think* it only fetches dislikes of users who use this service, but it seems to work. In this video it shows 167 dislikes, which is a lot - it's about 40% of votes
Because all of this is incredibly obvious for anyone that has been involved with social media marketing in the slightest. I haven't even ever promoted anything on TikTok or anywhere else but i could have told you everything in this video. I was hoping to get some insight into marketing on TikTok beyond the obvious stuff.
@@billyion6161 good for you i guess this video isn't for you then?
Interest topic
Thanks for the video it help me a lot
thanks! really practical tips here
I spent far too long trying to wipe that shadow off the screen 😂
Fantastic talk! Grace was incredibly engaging
Is this all Applicable for Twitter / other social platforms also ??
Some points carry across. And every social network is a different fit for each type of game.
I legit don’t understand why everyone is so mad that this talk happened or why tiktok is hated so much. The data says it has good numbers, and honestly the formulae for making it do good numbers are really straightforward compared to other platforms. Which is why it’s so dang useful for marketing 🤷♀️
More tribalism as usual. Tik tok represents everything detestable about this new low attention span society, so by extension they see it and everything that mentions it as some kind of "disease" that needs to be stopped. As if tik tok is the disease itself (and not actually a symptom)
but the truth is its here to stay, and an increasingly huge way information is being disseminated. So they detractors are just shouting at the clouds.
It is important to talk about tik tok cause it is what it is. Its not really straightforward marketing when the best advice is just try a bunch of things and see what sticks. :( The video does not mention how things that go viral there are very obnoxious, in your face, farrrr from genuine personality content. It is in total a race to the bottom in terms of quality.
What if my game is violent?
"challenging google" is a huge meme and always has been, it's hilarious people are acting like it hasn't been a totally ironic statement
Instead of "power of personality" i would say "power of being a good looking women".
I would never recommend it for personal use, just like I wouldn't recommend Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram for personal use either... But for business marketing and promotion these are powerful tools to reach more eyeballs... The real shame is that it's necessary to promote such an unethical and scummy company just to get a few more views on your product.
Great talk ! Also great to also see young talent make it to GDC !
One of the best and most inspiring talks I have ever seen on GDC ty!!!😊
Thank you for the Advice! Love it!
Keep CALM and hate tiktok
This is a brillant talk. Anyone in the comments treating Tik Tok like some sort of boogeyman I only have one thing to tell you: adapt or die.
Is like that scene from the matrix: "hear that, Mr Anderson? That, is the sound of inevitably..."
its kinda painful how the room of old dudes does not react whatsoever to her jokes but great talk nevertheless
you win trust by not using tiktok
How? People who hate tik tok don't use tik tok, so they will never see your tik tok content...
You can say that you do not use tik tok
@@GranatenGecko Street cred with a small minority of vocal users pays the bills not.
you win users by using it. I'll take the users.
Such a weird talk to have at a GAME DEV conference,
don't get me wrong, I'm not claiming that marketing isn't part of video game as a consumer product, but this feels so detached from the actual challenges of MAKING a game, Curtis in fact does a great talk, it's perfect for... shareholders, CEOs, advertising teams, marketing students... but at no point is it addressed at game developpers, maybe solo indie devs in that they have to handle everything by themselves?
Games marketing are still part of the overall team producing the game, game development is not purely writing code
sounded like someone that definitely didnt make a game.
you two missed the "don't get me wrong" part I guess
"don't get me wrong but I'm gonna be factually wrong rn"
That is a strange comment. If you have to handle everything yourself, marketing is even more relevant.
