That's what I never understood about Palpatine; He came from opulence and should understand and assign value to quality. He was so learned in Sith ways and proceeds over the ages that he definitely should have taken a page out of Vitiate's book. If you watch the Mandalorian and see how vested Jin is in Besteel for his armor, the shortcut doesn't even make sense for how well Palpatine planned stuff out. I always seen that as a story flaw in the original movies moving forward. Jedi, Sith, force sensitives, tinkerers etc... ALL created stuff, and that stuff should be having material upgrades when able.
Need to consider why they were commissioned and the context of the galaxy at that time. Stormtroopers make perfect sense. The Old Republic era Sith were preparing for war. Old Sith Empire troops were genetically streamlined with caste systems and bred from birth to not only dominate other soldiers but stand a chance against Jedi. Brainwashed fanatics bred to kill in a winner take all future war. Storm Troopers were meant to essentially be the "peace" keeping bullies of a subdued galaxy after the war was already over. And it was over. Jedi were all but extinct and the republic toppled. They were meant for patrolling cities and standing guard. Even then they did have elite units for anything serious. Sidious believed his enemy was defeated and anyone who rose up would just be the occasional small band of rebels which could be subdued easily by overwhelming numbers. Sidious was also focusing most of his resources on the Death Star. Who needs an army when you can blow up a planet. Any Jedi that was discovered could be nuked from orbit.
Palpatine did not want anyone to become too skilled, and thus become a threat to him. The Sith Troopers were trained to fight force users. Experienced Sith Troopers had an basic idea of what to expect from both Jedi and Sith. While one on one, Sith Troopers did not stand a chance against a Jedi or Sith, a squad of Sith Troopers would be dangerous enough for a Jedi or Sith to take seriously. A fully equipped platoon of Sith Troopers would give Vader a workout.
Thats only in the shows because plot armor. In the actual lore stormtroopers have impeccable aim but you cant have them one shooing important characters so Disney made them cross eyed 😂

From what I know of the Sith Troopers, is that yes, almost no military entity in the history of the lore, minus force sensitives, could even compete with the absolute overwhelming force that the Sith Troopers were.
The ancient Sith definitely put more of an emphasis on combat than the Rule of Two Sith, so it only makes sense their armies, however expendable, would be absolute units on the battlefield.
I often wonder what it would be like to play as an Imperial trooper in SWTOR. I like the idea of being a soldier, learning and climbing your way through the ranks of the Imperial military, that even sith have to recognize and respect you. I mean the Republic trooper is an elite soldier that can kill sith. So why not have an elite Imperial trooper that can kill Jedi. And since the Republic trooper is a part of the special forces, I think the Imperial trooper should either be an elite shock trooper or be in Imperial BlackOps. Plus I think I’d be fitting to have both factions that have classes that deal with the military. Both sides have classes that deal with the Force(Jedi and Sith), and both sides have classes that deal with the Galactic underworld(smuggler and bounty hunter). The closest we have to playing as an Imperial trooper is the Imperial agent’s story on Corellia, where we get transferred from intelligence to the military.

The Old Republic writers actually knew that, even though Force-users may not have always been able to assume the responsibilities of command, special units couldn't do everything at war.

I don't know about weapons technology being lesser during the old republic era if anything they fielded more powerful weaponry on a more consistent basis if your using what we know from the SWTOR game. Lots of troopers carried around immensely powerful blaster rifles, plasma rifles, disintegration weaponry, heavy blaster pistols, disruptors, rotary blaster cannons , assault cannons with barrels bigger around then a mans arm and plasma cannons to name a few. Not to mention most troopers carried a variety of grenades from incendiary to cyro, thermal, etc and utilization of highly advanced personal shielding technology and medical tech was fairly common, even personal cloaking tech. In a infantry on infantry battle the old republic era would decimate most modern star wars armies easily. Only really losing with vehicles enter the fray.
I see a lot of people commenting on the blaster technology having advanced notably between the two eras. The perfect way to explain it: during times of war, you get innovative advancements. But during times of peace, you're able to refine and improve said advancements; the actual damage potential of the blasters on 1:1 comparisons for what the average front line soldier had access to would be pretty close if not identical; its the reliability that would have improved (mobility/compactness, accuracy over range, heat build-up/dispersion, maximum effective range, and possibly even velocity. Even "ammo" types would play a factor, as the Clones used a type of energy cells that produced bolts particularly effective against droids)
Id say the old SIth troopers were more similar to the Clone troopers than to the storm troopers. Both basically born to be warriors and trained from childhood to fight. Though the old sith troopers did have to contend with Jedi unlike the clone troopers, so thats something extra.
I wonder how a squad of Imperial troopers would fare against a squad of Phase 2 clone troopers, since both seem to be able to obliterate Stormtroopers and take on Jedi.
Visually, the Sith Troopers look like a mix between a StormTrooper and Battle Droid. Recruitment and training seems to gravitate towards First Order Stormtroopers instead of Imperial Stormtroopers. Their helmets look even more bucket like than Imperial Stormtroopers. I wonder if the rebels in the Galactic Civil War called Stormies "Bucket Heads" to insinuate or imply that they had more in common with Ancient Sith Empire troopers than Old Galactic Republic ones.
I think it is important to take into account the purpose of each force. The nerdier of us know that Stormtroopers are NOT the rank and file soldiers of the Empire; they just rarely, or never, show us these, and so what we see is the Stormtroopers, as the representative of the Empire's military might. On the other hand, what do they typically have to fight? Some groups, like the Corporate Sector Authority, the Hapan Consortium, and the Hutt Cartels, when they exist, might have some military force, but the only big force in the galaxy is the Empire's; this is part of why the Rebellion struggles to find troops to fight them with, but then the Stormtroopers, even when capable, aren't expected to fight long, protracted military engagements, against a similarly capable foe. In some ways, the purpose of the Imperial military is indoctrination, and oversight. If the sons and daughters of the important families in the Empire join the Stormtroopers, then they can be molded into loyal soldiers, and are less likely to rebel, or if they do, get killed by other loyal soldiers. It basically pens up the Empire's best, and brightest, and either makes them sycophants, or ar least keeps them under surveillance, leaving the Rebellion to pick through scraps, and dregs, and othe uninspiring types. It obviously doesn't always work that way, buy I feel l8ke it was the on paper goal. The Empire didn't see itself as opposed by an equal; just idealistic fools, and the civilians they could dupe, but the Sith Empire needed to fight against the power that ruled the galaxy, and win, and both sides had good troops, capable Force-users, available tech, etc, so the skull of their individuals was much more important than 4,000 years later.
They were better then clones given Clones mainly fight b1s and similar cheap low quality droids. And their galaxy had very little in the way of a military naboo was pretty much the norm galaxy wide. Even the mandos didn't support much of a full military anymore so if a true military organization existed it would be considered elite by comparison to most others in the galaxy just by being a military force not a police force. they also were still under the affects of the galactic dark age so tech quality was also overall lower as well as proven by the death stars for example which required them to be moon sized to function while their was many planet Buster's that could fit in a harrower dreadnought. The Sith troopers were fighting fairly skilled and well equipped republic troopers and properly combat trained Jedi and similar. Also the sith troopers were actually better equipped as well given the tech was actually better then most clone wars+ tech along with some chance of Sith troopers being low level force sensitives was actually somewhat higher given how common force sensitivity was in the Sith empire which would give them in the cases they were some force enhancements even if much lower then a proper Sith or Jedi along with more ancient advanced tech laying about to reverse engineer like rakata or even on rare occasions celestial tech.
The old Sith Imperial troopers were better primarily because the mission and enemies they face. For example the Galactic Empire didn't have any rivals that could, militarily speaking, go toe-to-toe with them, therefore there mission was more of peacekeeping. Where as the Sith Empire, however, did have an enemy that could, militarily speaking, go toe-to-toe with them. That enemy the Sith Empire faced was the Galactic Republic, the Republic at the time had a one hell of a military a military that does match the Sith Empire's own forces.
This timeline is so much better than the 'classic' timeline, the movies should have started here n the games too, so much more stuff to cover, n so much more interesting

Find directors that are massive fans and wants to make a story stand on its own but can also add to the galactic story. Also to not be so afraid to make some more hardcore and violent shows in a movie or series. I heard the acolyte was originally going to be more centered around the Sith but the higher ups thought people didn’t want that and we saw how it blew up. When it finally comes time for old republic movies/series about the old republic with thousands of darkside users against thousands of Jedi we want things to get dark and crazy.
I love listening to anything about the ancient sith. A lot about the sith empire is cooler then empire of the movies
I would love a Old Republic battlefront game
Like in the Galactic Civil War, the Empire's weakness wasn't the Army, it was the SITH.
The blonde hair guy that built the ancient sith empire military was a lot like Governor tarkin in the new canon
Hey shoutout to Guard Cullen, that dude on Dromund Kaas was mad chill. Hope he made it to the 20 year retirement
0:46 The troopers were only men though, no women!
There needs to be more stuff on the old republic
Best Sith Trooper company that's ever been, the Gloom Walkers, once led by none other than Darth Bane before he became a Sith Lord!
Id say the old SIth troopers were more similar to the Clone troopers than to the storm troopers. Both basically born to be warriors and trained from childhood to fight. Though the old sith troopers did have to contend with Jedi unlike the clone troopers, so thats something extra.
Time to log onto Swtor and make a imperial trooper.
They could give the Republic clones a run for their credits for sure
Major anri and raven squad always get the job done
Loved the fact that Jango Fett the Mandalorian human male bounty hunter and the clone template of the Grand Army of the Republic
I had these guys as a Lego minifiger
Same. I thought he was Darth Vader 😭🙏
I wonder how a squad of Imperial troopers would fare against a squad of Phase 2 clone troopers, since both seem to be able to obliterate Stormtroopers and take on Jedi.
Cool!
First, let’s go. ❤ love the video
Disney needs to do a R-rated movie about the Old Republic and Ancient Sith Empire. I’m tired of the current timeline.
Actually Blaster tech was way MORE advanced than later and used what would later to be considered Kyber-tech
Always preferred the Daimanate Sith Trooper armour, shame its in so little media
Actual bucketheads
Visually, the Sith Troopers look like a mix between a StormTrooper and Battle Droid.
Recruitment and training seems to gravitate towards First Order Stormtroopers instead of Imperial Stormtroopers.
Their helmets look even more bucket like than Imperial Stormtroopers.
I wonder if the rebels in the Galactic Civil War called Stormies "Bucket Heads" to insinuate or imply that they had more in common with Ancient Sith Empire troopers than Old Galactic Republic ones.
I dunno, I like the rest of the design from the neck down, but my GOD that helmet just looks so goofy.
i like the ANCIENT SITH TROOPER MORE THAN THE STORM TROOPER
Still wish we got an Imp trooper storyline
The sith troopers helmets looked so damn big and their designs were way over designed
Man the og sith troopers in kotor
CLEAAAAN
I'd love to hear them compared to clones
They were better then clones given
Clones mainly fight b1s and similar cheap low quality droids.
Disney SW don’t you fucking DARE lay a finger on the Old Republic Era. You don’t deserve such a legendary part of SW history
The Trooper without helmet at 2:59 looks like Sean Connery
Imperial Troopers would curb stomp Clone Troopers, Storm Troopers, and most definitely First Order Troopers 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Disney and Lucas arts need to add this guy and the HAVOC trooper to the action figure’s black series as a two pack Ultimate army building
When he said “deployed” he made a fart sound
9:00 try telling that to @GenerationTech the guy is obsessed with Storm Trooper superiority
Could literally have opened up SWOTR and find out he was called Vye-kin, but no. Vaykin it is.
This timeline is so much better than the 'classic' timeline, the movies should have started here n the games too, so much more stuff to cover, n so much more interesting
The empire really have a trooper type for each letter of the alphabet
Love our trooper boys.
Replace KK with a die hard fan of Star Wars and knows to find amazing writers he’ll go looking for some of the best Star Wars fan fiction writers who are very good. Me personally would love a game of thrones level of adult brutality and killing
