One of my favorites by her is from the "Show Mask Go On" entitled "Oh' It's Not Yet Evening" ua-cam.com/video/cfTiQkJrLi0/v-deo.html. It's an over 300 year old folk song about a Cossack warrior who dreams of his death in an imminent battle. On Diana's face you see sadness, anxiety and pain of the soul of the Cossack warrior. One would swear she borrowed that soul to perform the song.
I'm not sure how many people appreciate the emotional gasps she produces here that absolutely melt me.

Diana's voice feels like a Force of Nature, immensely powerful, enchanting and absolutely riveting. Once she starts singing it's almost impossible to pull away. Your "shock and awe" reaction is not unusual, I have seen other reactions and thy are quite similar-frozen in place, a facial expression of complete astonishment and unable to speak. Thank you for reassuring me that I was not alone in this. Well done.

That is what they call Diana- The Queen of Goosebumps. I saw this performance for the first time less than a week ago. I had the same reaction to it: stunned and floored. The sheer depth, richness and dark color of her tone is something I’ve simply never heard before. So with that, I’ll try to impart what I’ve learned of her. She as a vocalist is considered a Dramatic Contralto who does polyphonic singing. Polyphonic as a term refers to a vocalist being able to sing different harmonics at the same time, in a way giving the impression the singer has multiple voices. The very low pitch of her singing voice is definitely astounding- I sing primarily in bass, and it sounds right to my ears to sing along to the first verse that low. I became a massive fan of hers in very short order. Also, this rendition of the song was redone in a minor key, which creates a lot of the dark spookiness of the feel. And then her incomparable voice completely seals the deal.

Greetings from Scotland! You used some great words! "Majestic, Unique, Insane deep notes, Vocal Strength and Vocal Power!"
Well done for actually being able to even speak after your first experience of just some of Diana's vocal abilities! 😊 Many professional vocal coaches are rendered speechless! Goosebumps are always a part of the experience, so much so that she is known worldwide as "The Goosebump Queen!" So I think you deserve some backstory of Diana's tragic but extremely inspirational young childhood........
Diana is 20yo currently (18yo here) but I've been following her since she was around 13yo. Diana is a natural Dramatic Contralto so the lower registers are her comfort zone but she now has a 5 octave range and it's increasing. She also naturally sings with polyphonic overtones so it sounds like many voices at the same time!
Diana's birthmother had multiple miscarriages but when Diana came along, she seemed to hate her. She verbally and physically abused her, trying to drown her and belittle her. It all culminated when (at 3yo) she dragged her to a bus stop with a broken collarbone and abandoned her, saying "Survive if you can" A passing relative took her in but because she cried constantly (naturally with a broken collarbone) she took her to the authorities who removed Diana from her birthmothers care and placed her in an orphanage. For almost 2 years Diana never gave up hope and she knew that she was meant for something better. (This story is in her Wikipedia entry) Finally her new mother (Irina Ponik, who worked as a masseuse there occasionally) Signed her adoption papers and took her home. She vowed to pay Irina back for her kindness. Irina had a real struggle because Diana had obviously been badly affected by the experiences and at 5yo, she had a very bad stammer. It was recommended that she be taken for singing lessons to help this and immediately it was recognised that Diana had perfect pitch and an excellent ear for music and songs. 1 year later, at 6yo, Diana was performing solo on stage!
This young unique phenomenon sang everywhere and anywhere she could, working constantly to earn money for the family who rescued her. At 13yo she held her 1st solo concert and one of the songs she sang was in a very rare Sephardic Jewish/Spanish dialect, a song called "Me Voy" (I'm leaving) with a power and emotional commitment that staggers belief! ua-cam.com/video/-9_c5fPrqno/v-deo.html
She was already winning every contest in Russia and other countries that she could get to. Then at 14yo Diana took part in an amazing Russian project "You're Super!" for abandoned/disadvantaged children (because Diana spent time in an orphanage) The 1st song she performed shocked the judges and audience so much, it went viral. Excellent reaction and I like your music as well. I do recommend everything from her as it’s outstanding but “Wicked Game (15) on the show “You are Super”. This is a competition show for children who haven’t had much parental influence in their life. Diana is like a Phoenix rising from the ashes. Her backstory on Wikipedia is inspirational. “Human” a cover from “Rag and Bone Man” is amazing as well (15) again. These are in English but it doesn’t matter what languages she sings in, you can feel it in your soul. Enjoy whenever you can and truly anything you choose will be a wonderful experience. Забавная девушка из Великобритании: поёт на английском, играет на бас-гитаре (!). Английский для неё явно не родной язык - и на своём родном (судя по всему, испанском) - она смогла бы рассказать о своих ощущениях более подробно; но реакция получилась неплохая - своих подписчиков она умеет зарабатывать. Что вообще может чувствовать музыкант, поющий в поп- или рок-группе - и услышавший впервые в жизни такое вот пение? Хотела бы она сама петь так же? Я бы на её месте позавидовал Диане Анкудиновой - но себе бы такого голоса не пожелал. Слишком сложно: слишком затратно - эмоционально и энергетически, слишком неуютно, слишком непривычно, слишком выходит за рамки общепринятого. Диана Анкудинова умеет со всем этим сложным клубком своих талантов уверенно управляться. А кому-то другому желать того же самого я бы не посоветовал. Чего бы стоило пожелать для себя всерьёз - так это её потрясающей способности захватывать своих слушателей, вовлекать их в своё пространство, оставлять у них сильное послевкусие, заставлять возвращаться к себе снова и снова. Этот талант Дианы Анкудиновой стоит дороже любых других; этот талант встречается только у самых больших, прирождённых артистов - и этот талант не связан напрямую с качеством голоса или вокальной техникой. Его можно желать, ему можно завидовать, - но выработать его у себя невозможно, - с таким талантом нужно родиться...

Her version of "Wicked Game", a Chris Isaac's song, is another good one. She has so many recordings that it's hard to choose... they are all great. I envy you because you get to hear them for the first time. I play most of her music over and over... that's how much I love her voice. And people like you add to it for me, as I'm not a singer. You point out qualities in her voice that I hear but don't recognize how amazing these are. In other words, thank you for enhancing my appreciation of her voice.
