Good to see you Ty, and great choice of a song! You can never go wrong with James Taylor. For your consideration--his live version of "Steamroller" and "Fire and Rain."
James Taylor a grampa vibe? FYI, JT in the 70's was a heartbreaker. Very handsome guy. His wife Carly Simon is singing with him on this one. JT is one of the very best and so is Carly.
Love James Taylor. What a great singer songwriter. His style is more folk rock. I grew up with his music & had some of his records. He is one of the best-selling music artists of all time, having sold more than 100 million records worldwide. He had a lot of hits such as "You've Got A Friend", "Fire & Rain", "Carolina In My Mind", "Handy Man", "Sweet Baby James", "Shower The People", "Your Smiling Face" etc. He was married at one time to Carly Simon. They had a few duets together including "Mockingbird" & "Devoted to You".
True it's a cover but more importantly, a testament to James' love for his then wife Carly Simon. If you love How Sweet, check out JT's "Shower the People", his followup his success w Gorilla. Btw not only is Carly singing harmony w James Graham Nash and David Crosby provide backup harmonies on several tracks.
Sax solo.......David Sanborn.....passed away less than a month ago......IMO..the greatest pop/rock sax soloist in history.....check out Young Americans by David Bowie. Better yet.... The Dream by David Sanborn.
JAMES TAYLOR AND J.D. SOUTHER - " HER TOWN TOO " 🎸🎶 1981 Classic you guys are gonna like this song too it's Amazing. The Bass & the Drums+ incredible Acoustic and Electric Guitar combined sounds Super Groovy
James Taylor's voice is just great. This is one of his r and b covers. Handy Man and he and Carly's duet on Mockingbird are two other r&B covers. Sound so fine. He doesn't sound like Marvin Gaye, but he is still bringing the magic.
Top 40 radio played the crap out of this in the summer of '75 when I was in the early throes of teenage infatuation with a girl I would be with for the next seventeen years. This song will always remind me of her. I was already familiar with the classic original version which many times ruins my appreciation of any remakes, but for this I made an exception. You can't go wrong with the smooth voice of Sweet Baby James. Re: your speculation about JT's nature, he has always had demons to battle, and other songs of his (not this particular upbeat cover of a classic) come from that pain and inner turmoil. Fire and Rain is a good example, where he talks about times when he felt like he was just hanging on by a thread and could have gone either way. On another note, I have an odd, small world-y couple degrees of separation with Mr. Taylor. My late 20s pharmacist son filled an Rx for him a few years ago when JT's tour was in town. When he mentioned it to me, he started out by seriously asking "Have you ever heard of James Taylor?" 😆 These kids today.
You guys are so positive and gotta love your shenanigans mixed with thorough analytics of the music. Glad I'm a subscriber for over a year. You deserve a bigger recognition for all the work you do.
Congratulations to the guys on 48,000 subscribers. The true planning for the 50K extravaganza has to begin now. The "Dickie V" riff was great stuff and worth watching just for itself. Terrific having all 3 chairs filled for "The dream team." 😁
He was the nice guy Singer songwriter with a guitar, good looking guy that few women would have said no if they caught his eyes. Just a breezy guy we all loved
This was a sweet classic from the legendary JT! The three of you always bring a smile to my face for the sheer joy you get from music. Thanks for the channel - look forward to more!
James Taylor has a great voice but when you brought up Mister Rogers, I couldn't help thinking "Yeah, if Mr. Rogers had a syringe in his arm"...since I've known about his various addictions for many moons. Taylor worked with an amazing backup singer (Valerie Carter) and if you're willing to be really adventurous, listen to her cover of the 1970 soulful hit, "Ooh, Ooh, Child". She had extraordinary pipes, very powerful, and probably a 5-octave range. She put out her 1st solo LP shortly after the time this Taylor album came out in the mid-seventies.
I just recently subscribed. I saw your Rebel Yell reaction and a few Queen reactions. And some others. I’m pretty surprised that you haven’t reacted to Queen doing Bohemian Rhapsody (studio version) or Queen at Live Aid 1985. Those are iconic videos, especially since you said you like Queen, and Freddie is beyond good. Bohemian Rhapsody has over a billion views. Check them out. I love the interaction between the three of you and I like listening to your input on the various songs.
Cocaine Jesus! You guys are too funny. Actually JT had a bad Heroin habit that wrecked his marriage to Carly Simon. So glad Ty is back! Have a great weekend. Amazing David Sanborn on Sax. This whole album and his previous 5 albums were all fire. ❤❤❤
Such a great song, from an extremely talented man. His whole catalog is well worth your time. LOL @ singing while shopping. I do that. I'll sing out loud if nobody is in my direct line of vision. I don't care if they HEAR me, I have a very pretty deep voice. I can't handle watching them watch me sing! Always in choir, never interested in singing solo. I like singing harmonies better anyway.
I was young when he was and he did comfort while I was living alone on my own after living in a house with eight peoples it was quite a shock to go from constant noise and commotion to only myself. He soothed my soul.
Such a great album. This one and it's followup, In the Pocket, are a fantastic pair. They have a similar vibe and "sound" throughout. Could have easily been a two-record set. Even with all his other terrific tunes and records, if I could only have two, I'd be content with Gorilla and In the Pocket.
JT has soul. His songs and voice can't help but touch your heart. I've been in love with him, his voice, his message since the 70s. Try listening to Going to Carolina in My Mind and also Fire and Rain.
Ty is just being so sweet... So I get why he wanted this song. This is a great song! Such an upbeat love song. James' voice is just so smooth. I don't think there is a person who does not love him! His catalog is all good and varied. He even has a sweet song in the movie "Cars". So all generations love him. He is even in an episode of West Wing... Ryan - yes his lyrics are what you think. But they are wholesome like Nick's grampa vibes. You guys had fun with this!
Back in the 1970s on the TV drama "Kojak," actor Telly Savalas was known for his catch phrase, "Who loves ya, baby?" ... which he would say to everyone and anyone. 🙂
I love James Taylor’s cover version!James has had dozens of hits and even more great songs! You need to play some of his best off of his JT album like Handyman,Your Smiling Face, Secret O Life, and Terra Nova of which he recorded that one with his then wife Carly Simon!im not sure if you are familiar what James went through as a young man. He was a heroin addict just as his career was taking off. Lucky for him he had some good friends, including Carole King that helped on get through those times.
Carly Simon on backing vocals (JT’s then wife) has a song with a fantastic sax solo (also by Sanborn)…check out “You Belong to Me” (written by Michael McDonald).
Iconic alto sax solo by the late great David Sanborn who succumbed to prostate cancer last month.
RIP. Anyone who had anything to do with this. Remembered fondly.
An awful way to go. I lost my husband to that and it was such a brutally ugly thing to go through. 💔
@@CalamityJ765 My condolences.to you and your family.
I didn't know about Dave passing away. Such a great performance.
@@CalamityJ765Sorry for you loss. My dad passed away from complications of prostate cancer. May your husband rest in peace.
Carly Simon’s stellar backing vocals fit perfectly too.
The former Mrs. Taylor!
Good to see you Ty, and great choice of a song! You can never go wrong with James Taylor. For your consideration--his live version of "Steamroller" and "Fire and Rain."
James is Amazing!! Another great song is “Up on a Roof”. So happy to see you Ty! Nothing beats The Trio back together again 😍😊
Great song! Happy to see Ty back! Yay🎉🎉🎉
Awww, we miss you so much Ty! So glad to see you again.
James Taylor a grampa vibe? FYI, JT in the 70's was a heartbreaker. Very handsome guy. His wife Carly Simon is singing with him on this one. JT is one of the very best and so is Carly.
Sweet Baby James!
How sweet it is the have Ty back at the mic!😊
Nice to hear Carly in the background. 😍

My favorite of their songs as a duo is Terra Nova!
I think I hear her voice in the backing vocals of this song, too.
Sweet Baby James, great performer lucky to see him many times.
The late great David Sanborn on sax! Great song.
And the perfection of uber bassist Leland Sklar
His wife at the time, Carly Simon, was backup on this song.
I suggest his "Shower the People" from 1976. Another feelgood hit.
True it's a cover but more importantly, a testament to James' love for his then wife Carly Simon. If you love How Sweet, check out JT's "Shower the People", his followup his success w Gorilla. As a kid we were getting our ears massaged and we didn't even notice there was so much good music
Dozens of incredible songs by James Taylor - you almost can’t go wrong with any of them. (❤to Ty! Welcome back!)
Excellent choice
He did write one of the saddest songs ever- “ Fire and Rain”- his greatest tune. Watch him sing it live from ‘ 71.
The story behind "Fire and Rain" is just heartbreaking......and that's a song that I would encourage the fellows to explore.
Try his "stemroller" for a different side of him.
He's great!
James Taylor's voice is just great. This is one of his r and b covers. Handy Man and he and Carly's duet on Mockingbird are two other r&B covers. Sound so fine. He doesn't sound like Marvin Gaye, but he is still bringing the magic.

If you like that raunchy, deeper voice of James Taylor you should check out his "Steamroller" song.
You guys are so positive and gotta love your shenanigans mixed with thorough analytics of the music. Glad I'm a subscriber for over a year. You deserve a bigger recognition for all the work you do.
Carly Simon backing vocals on the choruses, and if you focus in on it, it's a really interesting harmony line she chooses.
Yes. Her harmonies are stellar!
I remember as a teenager trying to learn that harmony! Happy to say I can do it now!!!!😂
Congratulations to the guys on 48,000 subscribers. The true planning for the 50K extravaganza has to begin now. The "Dickie V" riff was great stuff and worth watching just for itself. Terrific having all 3 chairs filled for "The dream team." 😁
Sweet baby James is always on my playlist. Also. His other song called handyman ❤ it is a good one
We do love and miss you Ty! This is a great old song from James. You really can't miss with him 😊

Welcome back Ty!!!
sweet baby james....
Love James Taylor!
He was the nice guy Singer songwriter with a guitar, good looking guy that few women would have said no if they caught his eyes. Just a breezy guy we all loved
he was also in a tragic time, struggling terribly with heavy heroin addiction and alcohol. which he's discussed.
Love it when you come back Ty!
Back on the yacht ❤
Awww “it feels so fine” to be appreciated by you all. You guys make my day and I’m glad TY is back! 502 4ever
He has the most effortless and sweet sounding voice I’ve ever heard. Just perfect.
Fire and Rain will show you James's bad day.... it's a moving song about the tragic loss of a friend. A must listen in his catalog of great music
Welcome back, Ty, for _THIS_ upload. 🤘🏽 -of course next week somebody will post “where’s the 3rd guy?”- 🤦🏽♂️
Your collective review of this song 🎵 had me in stitches, especially when the Sax started playing 🎵
How sweet it is. Great sax. I'm with Ryan - can't get enough sax.
This was a sweet classic from the legendary JT! The three of you always bring a smile to my face for the sheer joy you get from music. Thanks for the channel - look forward to more!
That's Carly Simon on background vocals... 🙂
Love both versions. But, Taylor’s is just the one that really does it. Beautiful gents!!!
His wife at the time, Carly Simon, is singing backing vocals on this song---so good. Have you guys done any Carly Simon??
You guys kill me! Love y'all!

You guys … how sweet it is to be watchin’ you !!!!! ❤
My feelings exactly! ❤
David Sanborn on saxophone was ubiquitous in 70's and 80's on pop songs; invaluable
I love this song and it was a song you sang to your woman. So smooth
Thanks Ty! Very sweet of you! Love the channel guys. Keep on going!

My local market plays great oldies, mostly Motown, and I SING and harmonize with other shoppers! So much fun.😊
Great to see you back, Ty!
James, like Van Halen had the knack of making any song his. The woman singing backup was his wife Carly Simon. Have you done "Mexico" yet?
U can hear his then wife at the time, a legendary singer songwriter in her own right, Carly Simon on back up vocals.
Love James Taylor love the reaction, great to see you Ty and thank all three of you for your reactions to great songs. Take care
Such a great song, from an extremely talented man. His whole catalog is well worth your time.

He’s in Mexico there. He’s a quiet, gentle guy.
YEAH NICK, JAMES POPULATED IT FOR SURE!!! 💯😊
Great, great song! One of my all time favorite James Taylor songs. The 70s had so many great singer songwriters, men & women.
