James Taylor is not just an unbelievable Singer-Songwriter, he also has this ability to take any song and perfect it. Examples 'You got a Friend', Handy Man, Up on the Roof, etc.
James Taylor just has a voice and delivery that everyone could love. Can't go wrong with anything he does. And nothing wrong with being cheesy and corny, Angela, its what makes you so adorable! xx Keep up the great reactions! 😊
Love both versions. James is one of the greats, both as a songwriter and in covering old songs. His covers lean strongly to 50's and early 60's songs. He doesn't change them much beyond giving them an arrangement that really lets his great skill on acoustic guitar shine though and sings them with that straight forward but unique voice and style of singing that lets you know he's singing right from the heart, He gives the covers a whole new sound but somehow stays true to the original.
Anyone who hasn't seen James live has no idea who he is. Most think of him as simply writing and singing folky countryish mellow material, which he does will. But if you watch, let's say the 1988 Boston concert which is available here on UA-cam, you'll see this man tear up a stage with some of the greatest musicians on the planet and transform a crowd into a tornado of emotions and reactions. The crowd (many dressed to the nines out of respect) can be seen at times dancing. At other times crying and at times laughing and generally losing it with excitement. I've never seen anything that compares with that particular show.
He got a brother that sings too is Livingston Taylor and his son Ben Taylor that's also made a song which is incredible but like I said you going down a rabbit hole, Sweet baby James!! My father used to dance to this song
That is his wife at the time Carly Simon doing the beautiful background vocals. I would recommend "Mexico", "Honey Don't Leave LA", "Bartender Blues", "Carolina on My Mind", and the live version of "Steamroller" from the Greatest Hits album.
@@davidhart8621 If you know Mexico off the In the Pocket album, Carly, David Crosby and Graham Nash do the background harmonies and it is beautiful - one of my favorite JT songs
James Taylor played in Halsey Field House at the Naval Academy in 1976 (I think) when I was a midshipman. Highlight was when Carly Simon joined him on stage to do "Mockingbird."
"Angela" You make me so very happy I'm so glad you came into my life tonght!!!! Thank you for a very wonderful reaction. I'm a new subscriber and very happy I found you on yube tube, I love that your cheesy, and so adorable my kind of women looking forward to many reactions from you Angela!!!!
I actually heard the JT cover first growing up, before hearing the original by Marvin Gaye, so I lean more towards the cover. James Taylor did another cover called "Up on the Roof," originally done by The Drifters. You should also check out another great upbeat tune from James: "Your Smiling Face."
There you go being all sweet and Charming again😏 You sure do have the ability to bring a bright light to a gloomy day. I hope if you're ever feeling down you realize how many Smiles he bring to the faces of thousands of people when they watch your smiling bubbly reactions to these videos. Keep up the good work 👍😘
Angela, His cover of Buddy Hollys song Everyday is a WHOLE vibe! The back up singing, instrumentation is awesome! In my top 10 of cover songs for sure.
I've been a JT fan since day 1! But I went back and checked the original by Marvin Gaye 1964. I'm leaning toward Marvin's early Motown sound. It's like going back in time.
First of all don’t ever apologize for liking a song and secondly it’s a simple yes and sweet yes love song that does not equate to cheesy in my book it’s sweet and it talks about love and we could use a lot more of that these days especially in music where everything is going to the club band the booty end of this send that I’ll take Stevie Wonder his love songs at James Taylor‘s love songs any day of the week keep up the good work I thoroughly enjoy your reactions
I've always had such a crush on James Taylor. Now the first time I heard Marvin, it was his song Sexual Healing, definitely fell in love with his voice, and he sure was handsome. Thank you!
Stan Walker's cover of Don't Dream It's Over by Crowded House - what a voice you won't be disappointed. He's from New Zealand and the backing group is amazing.
My wife and I was in Biloxi in like 2009, I was playing poker at the Beau Rivage and she was at the I.P. well, she was tipsy, and met James in the Buffet Line (lol), and she was like looking back at him, at saying don't I know you, and they were both dinning alone, so he had dinner with my tipsy wife I missed out. BUMMER. I don't drink, but if she wasn't tipsy, I doubt she would have bothered him, except to maybe say she was a fan. He gave her something of his, I forget. We went to see Yes in concert that very night.
Feel-good seventies! Nice! I was eight years old when this version of the song dropped. I remember the song because the break caught my ear -- "I just wanna stop -- and thank you baby" ... Taylor's then wife Carly Simon provides the backing vocals and legendary session player David Sanborn provides the sax solo. This is a great song and a very fine version of it, but I'm more likely to pick the Marvin Gaye version these days.
Nice reaction. Even though there are so many great renditions of this song, James Taylor really makes it his own. Song suggestion to react to would be Sting's "Fortress Around Your Heart"
One of the BEST covers, for sure. Now I hope you have on your list 'A Groovy Kind of Love' covered by Phil Collins. He takes a teeny-bopper pop tune and turns it into an adult full power love song.
What I thought James Taylor brought to this song was what was missed in the Marvin Gaye great version....the stops on the word "stop" each 2nd time in the chorus, is an old trick perhaps, but it works so well! Made the old song new, and unique...a musical hook...this aside from James taylor's arrangement and excellent vocal...always have wondered why Motown didn't think of using the musical silence on the word "stop."
James Taylor is so much more than his popular songs You need to check out shed a little light..and there we are ..so great just about every song he's ever done is awesome but please check these two out for yourself and let me know what you think
One of the all-time best covers by the way in my opinion is Tom Petty‘s song called The Waiting. Linda Ronstadt recorded it in I think 1994 and absolutely knocked it out of the park
James recorded this for his (then) wife Carly Simon to express how much their relationship meant to him. If you listen closely she's singing background. (And good Tacos require cheesy.)
I could only wish to find such a beautiful soul like hers to be in love with and have a life together. Sadly I’m too old and too far gone as I watch her dance across the imagination of my mind and playing “what if” with my heart knowing it could never happen but so sweet if in some life in some universe it could happen. We would dance the night away together happy and laughing and talking about the future but also remembering the past. Christmas would come and we’d dance the night away in our home. Oh well it’s my imagination but it’s a sweet thought. I can only hope she finds a good man to love her like she wants and needs. Take care sweety

Hey, cheese is good, cheesy, though, is in the ears of the beholder. If this is cheesy, it started out great and it's aged into a fine flavor. I've loved Sweet Baby James and his songs and his voice and phrasing and his ability to help me understand how I feel while entertaining me, since I first heard him on the radio, all too many decades ago.
Then Angela, you stay cheesy and corny. Because that's what your followers like about you. Honest, sincere reactions! And as far as I'm concerned, if you don't like James Taylor then you don't know what good music is to begin with. Can't imagine any of your followers fitting into that category. Keep being you Angela, and we will keep watching!
It's cheesy today because love is out and lust is in. Back then you held your woman close as you dance and spoke love things in her ear, she melted in your arms. Now it's go back to my place and do the nasty with no emotions involved, just self gratification. Sorry for the maybe to deep of an explanation.
This song makes me so happy
James Taylor is not just an unbelievable Singer-Songwriter, he also has this ability to take any song and perfect it. Examples 'You got a Friend', Handy Man, Up on the Roof, etc.
Never seen anyone react to James doing Handy Man! Also a cover song.
Love hearing Carly Simon's backing vocals on this song.
I agree. They always blended together well.
Facts
James Taylor just has a voice and delivery that everyone could love. Can't go wrong with anything he does. And nothing wrong with being cheesy and corny, Angela, its what makes you so adorable! xx Keep up the great reactions! 😊
This song is more uplifting you can dance and be happy on this one
This song is so beautiful and his voice is golden❤
Fire and Rain, Sweet Baby James, You've Got a Friend, the list goes on and on...
Love both versions. James is one of the greats, both as a songwriter and in covering old songs. His covers lean strongly to 50's and early 60's songs. James Taylor "Your Smiling Face" Will put a smile on anyones face, and "Her Town Too",a duet wih J.D.Souther.Nice Song.Love Sweet baby James.
Your Smiling Face, yes!
James and Carley are a gift from God to my teen years. Their music is essential.
One of the best concerts I’ve ever been to
Glad you liked this. Cheesy is cute!! 😊
James also did a great cover in 1979 of "Up On A Roof" which was written by Carole King and originally done by the Drifters in 1962.
your phone is screaming out YES PLEASE!!! This is a classic deserving to be on any phone 😎👌🤩🙂
easy listening music..
I still love this song.

You can still see James Taylor Live. How much the tickets are I don't know. But I do think Mum would love it.

Wow, now that I know it's Carly Simon I can really hear her voice there!

James Taylor played in Halsey Field House at the Naval Academy in 1976 (I think) when I was a midshipman. Highlight was when Carly Simon joined him on stage to do "Mockingbird."
Cheesy or not it’s beautiful. Always loved it!
So glad someone finally pay attention to this one!!!
I love the tone to his voice.
I dig both versions! If I had to choose one or the other, I would still choose both, and that's my final answer!
Shower The People
Massive hit back then. The entire album is a must.

James Taylor is a great singer songwriter, both versions are great, can’t pick between them
Laura Nyro's Eli's Coming, Stone Soul Picnic covered by 3 Dog Night and 5th Dimension
I loved your reaction to this song. Both James Taylor and Carole King were popular when I was in high school (early 70’s).
Thanks!
Hey you gave James another go...love it.
There you go being all sweet and Charming again😏
You sure do have the ability to bring a bright light to a gloomy day.

One of my absolute favorite James Taylor songs is: *Slow Burning Love*
Angela, His cover of Buddy Hollys song Everyday is a WHOLE vibe! The back up singing, instrumentation is awesome! In my top 10 of cover songs for sure.
I’ve been listening to this song for a long time but tonight it just hit different.gorgeous lyrics
I believe Jazz great David Sandborn played Sax in this version. And 'Everyday' is another good cover by Taylor taken originally from Buddy Holly.
I loved this song the first time I heard it. Its on my playlist.
...as well as 'Mexico'. F'n love that song for some reason.

I apologize for some of the errors in my message but it was a verbal text and there is no edit option
Great choice. JT really made this song his own here, and that compliment doesn’t come lightly…
Laura Nyro's And When I Die covered by Blood Sweat and Tears
A man with a satin voice. His ex-wife, Carly Simon is doing backup vocals on this track.

This was originally a Marvin Gaye song. ❤
His co-singer is his THEN wife Carly Simon
Scott Weiland does a Great version of Bowie's song Fame
James Taylor's is the original person that made this song He's song this in the '70s
His lack of vibrato in his voice makes it sound like mayonnaise but it’s probably the best mayonnaise I’ve ever had.

Ok, did you play sax in high school band, cuz you did the same gesture on Bad To The Bone. 🤨
I could watch you all day, honey. And I mean that with 'love and affection!' 😀😀😀
I definitely like the original a lot more.
I couldn't help noticing that you're wearing a shirt that says "Honey" while reacting to a song about sweetness. Coincidence? Hmmm. Cute.
Geez you a pretty lady.
Can you react to space cowboy by jonzun crew this may of been first rap song made

REACT TO JAMES TALOR OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO
I like James Taylor's version. But, Marvin Gaye's version is smooth and flowing. Cooler.
A better cover would have been “Up On The Roof”

Nothing James Taylor did is cheesy…
Marvin did it better. James made it different.
Dont get it. Whats cheesy about a good melody and great instrumental rhythms.
Marvin Gaye was far better.
Stay cheesy Angela! I too like cheesy songs.
James Taylor is a good singer, but sorry ... you can't beat Marvin Gaye! The guy was a vocal MAGICIAN!
😡
James Taylor I s totally overated! I'd rather here his ex wife's songs! Carley Simon.
ugh.....but he's a lousy Dem
Sappy awesome suggestion: “falling in love”. Hamilton, Joe Frank and Reynolds. I think you would like it ❤. Studio version. Seventies tune.
