Or simply extend the 2 grips a bit till 18650 would fit. The current external battery clip is an absolute no go. ok as someone whos started fpv hobby just few months back and watching quite a lot of video from your channel i cant not tell you that its great to see your appearance change! huge progress in short time, keep it up! it fits you better!
This video is an above average review for Nick - which places it pretty high in the order because I find his reviews to be the top of the heap overall. Nicely done Nick.
I watched a whole series of the Zorro reviews today ...one after the other....and Nick Burns....is the one I trust most. Non biased - straight to the point . Bardwell of course comes next lol ;)
Thank you Nick! Interesting to see how my "vintage" HK Turnigy Evolution transmitters have evolved? A favorite radio among my younger students, due to form factor, and they Still somehow fly trippie spins around most pilots, on std 2.4hz no less😎
Just watched Albert Kim's review of it, the details all added up to one conclusion: SOLD! I like the 'proper' shoulder switches instead of the rocker switches some gamepad style TX's have, and how the gimbals are a little sunken which makes the whole thing feel thinner, like my old Turnigy TGY-i10 which is really thin compared to my current TX, the T16.
This is the first review that mentions the gimbal adjustment screws on the back of the radio! Your videos keep moving higher up my list of reference videos, Nick. Thanks!
Best review of this radio I have seen Nick. I like that radiomaster used switches for aux instead of buttons like some others turning out ELRS radios. If I was in the market for a game pad style radio I do feel this would be my choice 👍
I really like my t-lite but this is my replacement for it... The big screen is big plus for me and i like that they stuck with regular toggle switches. External battery capability also very nice especially to feed a power hungry elrs module👍 Good review again!
I agree. I've been flying RC for 50 years now and am accustomed to the classic box shaped radio. I have had no interest in the gamepad style - until now. Not saying that I will be getting a Zorro, but this IS the first gamepad style radio that I have seen that I find even vaguely interesting.
Wow! It's amazing on the innovation of this hobby, specially this TX. For the price, I'm thinking of ditching my hardly used T8SG and just get this one Instead. Thanks Nick for all you do.
I like the stick throw adjustment, I am a thumber and I find you lose precision or induce unwanted yaw or bank as your thumb arcs thru its range of motion. I shorthen my sticks on many of my radios by cutting the screw and knob a mm or two so for me this is a plus as i wont machine it immediately upon getting it.
I was sold even before any reviews came out, but when you say that it feels sorta like the X-Lite, I cant wait to get my hands on one, I also liked it a lot. Im just hoping that the elrs version wil be available in EU together with the 4in1 version.
Thanks for showing charging with Usb-C at 9:35. I keep my radio in the car and only charge craft batteries in the car. It would be a hassle to require another charger to charge both the craft and the radio at the same time.
Finally a nice, inexpensive game style radio without a ton of negatives. I actually don't see any! If I was interested in a small radio, I'd buy this one. Very nice, thorough review, Nick! Well done my friend!!! 😎🤘
There was another comment that I thought was interesting. When we will see wireless charging in our radios. I wonder if that would be a desired feature or the cost would be prohibitive.
@@NickBurnsFPV Meh ...Saves us from plugging in the super easy USB-C ... How hard is that?!!! LOL Most overrated cell phone feature on the planet! A person's gotta be ultra lazy to think that's needed, IMO. ;)
@@KOrnhOliO1 funny now that you say that, I did have a cell phone with wireless charger and two chargers. Over the last 3 years I haven't used wireless charging.
I put that TX16S Max in my hands two weeks ago, and that boy feels awesome! My daily driver is an FrSky X10S, and have really liked my radio from day 1, but that RM Max (exactly like yours in red...which everyone knows red is for racing!!) is butter smooth, especially those gimbals!! Anyhow, I'm looking at buying the Zorro for my daughter. When she holds my TX she says "My hands are too far apart. It's weird." So, maybe the game-style controller will be more her speed.
Hi Nick Great video and review of the RadioMaster Zorro. I still use my FRSKY Xlite v1, and like the game style radio's. I just can't pinch with them, I need a old style for that. ELRS is great and you are able to add a module for your regular receivers. The battery issue is not that bad ,just have a second set and then you replace as you need it. Thanks again for the video and information about this radio.
Good review, I’ve got one coming soon and I like it, sure the battery isn’t the 18650, but most people aren’t going to be flying that long anyway, but just in case I leave it on between flights I actually have 4 batteries coming, and I’m confident that they’ll be all I need. I have the Radiomaster tx16s already but I find it a little bulky for my liking and just a little hard to reach some of the buttons, but then I’m not flying enough to really get the feel for it. But this little beauty will probably be near on perfect for me.
Great review, if they had somehow managed to fit the standard batteries in there it would have been a guaranteed buy for me. Now i am not sure, i will hang on to the tango 2 with elrs module on the back for a bit longer.
Currently running a tango 2 with a ELRS module, so it may not make sense to switch… I’ll have to hold one and see how it feels in my hands compared to my Tango!
yes, video format certainly can't tell us if it will have the fit and comfort in our own hands. I to have a tango 2, I found the toggles and buttons weren't something I could get used to. I also wanted more of an inward slant to increase my comfort.
Can you post a log to show gimbal jitter and how it compares to other major/common radios? As an ELRS built in product gimbal jitter is the biggest performance bottle neck on these high speed links.
the only thing that seem strange and annoying is that there are 2 usb c ports. Why not combine both ports. It is definitely possible as other radios have that and even some cheap microcontroller boards can change the battery port and also interact with the firmware. Still think that the Jumper tlite is a bit better. But the expansion is pretty awesome.
I've been pumped up about this radio since its presentation, especially because of the ELRS built in. I choose a TX12 (which I love) instead ot the TX16s few months ago because of its size but this one looks even better... I'm hesitating. The only thing is I have a Tinywhoop on R-XSR and I don't feel buying another radio on 4 in 1 multiprotocol module and then adding a ELRS module for my next 5". Neither I feel buying the ELRS version and then adding an external module only for my whoop. Damn...
that is a tough spot. I don't see a way to keep everything the way it is and not change anything in a new radio. I presume your not planning to use expresslrs?
I guess we'll be referring to you as St. Nick now...Joking aside, serious question. Love the original x-lite but been a long time. Tx16s is nice but just too much bulk and weight for most use cases. Love the T-Lite but sooo many issues. I tried to move to a tx12 but have gone back to the T-Lite. Prefer the ergonomics but mostly the stick feel. Seem buttery, I believe the springs are lighter coefficient so still have good center feel with light tension. Sooo... Are the Zorro gimbals the same as tx12 or feel more like the t-lite, or? The t-pro looks interesting but I do prefer the zoros bigger screen and I will not be an early adopter for any jumper product. I have yet to see the t-pro or Zoro in person. Keep up the good fight, you are the one toober I feel is here for your viewers best interests!
I think its very close to the t-lite, we have the ability to adjust the spring tension with the screws on the back, so we could adjust to our liking. I loosened mine to be almost sloppy then tightened them just a touch to take the play out.
Wireless charging - is this a viable idea? Could have a simple cradle with wireless charging so every time you sit your TX down to take a break or deal with your quads, it gets topped up a bit without you having to even think about that aspect of flying.
physically it should be possible. Not sure if the market is calling for it. I also wonder if those components would have any impact on our signal, I wouldn't think so as we know cell phones use it fine.
@@NickBurnsFPV My thoughts went to wireless charging because I've got to buy a new board for my phone with the USB-C socket because it's become a little loose & faulty from years of use. I did wonder about any possible interference from the wireless charging but a search says they operate between 120 & 205 kHz, far from the 900mhz & 2.4ghz our control systems use. Wireless charging is probably something I could hack into it and 3D print a cradle if I deem it worth my time.
@@licensetodrive9930 it's not worth your time. Unless you think plugging in a USBC is an effort. Lol 🙄 I've always thought wireless charging is like little sprinkles on a cake 🎂 ... The cake is just fine without them! Of all the features on cell phones, that's the one that's so easy to do without. 😎🤘
@@KOrnhOliO1 i would say that I mostly agree with you. Wireless charging isn’t a game changer, but it’s a nice thing to have. I have a wireless charge on my bedside table, and when I go to bed, I just have to put my phone down and it’s fully charged when I wake up. No more « oh no I forgot to charge my phone ». But i hear you, plug a usb c cable isn’t the end of the world
Thanks for the thorough review, in Australia it seems that a shipment has just arrived, all the shops seem to have stock again. Looking forward to trying this out, I'm hoping to be able to leave my tx16s Max with upgraded gimbals (they are really heavy and the way the handle is fitted is a poor design mine broke in the first week) at home and just take the zorro.
@@NickBurnsFPV yeah thank you, your review convinced me I could try to make the switch, I was thinking of getting the tx16s v2, but it will be nice to have a smaller form factor to carry around. I'll give the radio a good run and then see if I need the upgraded gimbals. I hope that it all works out well, the hobby can become a costly one if the things you're investing in aren't fit for purpose or you can't use them as you'd expect. Have a great weekend Nick.
@@jonowillmer yes, very true. Trying this and that to find what works for us is expensive or if we are lucky to have flying friends that is the best way to go.
Gotta say, as someone who did grow up with video games, esp analog pads, this is still exactly how I use my Jumper T-lite because tbh, if I try just thumbing it, I'm all over the place. You need way way more precision when it comes to FPV vs a game since those analog controller has a TON of assists built in to help out, and a regular radio controller simply doesn't. I use my index fingers to help fine tune my thumbs essentially, keep them from flying all over the place. I tried only thumbs and it was a bad scene. Great review though Nick. I've been looking at this radio but haven't taken the plunge. This review is pretty much pushing me over the edge...
@@NickBurnsFPV Amazing how quick this Radio starts selling out once a review or 10 hits UA-cam =) Managed to score one from DefianceRC from your link, and am quite delighted to mess about with it once it shows up. Thanks again Nick, your videos are genuinely appreciated! Always an instant click for me when I see them pop up.
Could you explain in a little more detail the problems you had with the sim? I was strongly considering buying this radio but I fly a lot in simulators
I use tinywhoopgo and fpvfreerider. Neither recognized the radio by name. They did detect an input device, which required some longer configuration to use at all. I have seen this before with new radios. Its generally just a sim update that gets launched shortly after the product is launched. Tinywhoopgo takes longer to get its update, but major sims like drl, velocidrone etc likely either work by default or get an update quicker.
Nice video Nick, but you said that this Radio does not work well with the simulators? Also, does it have a built in wireless link that will let you connect to your computer with out having to use a USB cord? Thanks!
Not the two sims I use. At this time. Its not terribly unusual for the games to need an update to properly identify the radio. We can make it work without the game update, but its not as seamless. I cover the blue tooth aspect in the video
The X-Lite switches move easy, especially for as short as they are. Do these switches move as easy as the X-Lite switches? Do the S1 and S2 sliders have a noticeable center detent? Thanks for the review! I was wondering throughout the entire thing if you’d be switching, which you covered right at the end 😁
Near perfect...would prefer 18650 batteries. Cosmetically, it has the silhouette of the X-Lite with the screen added. Like the functionalities of the controls. Love the price.
Well if something comes out from an embargo and is a product provided, there usually arent a lot of different perspectives. Only one. And a bunch of links I should click to help out.
Nice review ... Never flew with one of those tiny Tx's. Always the full size Tx. Currently a TX16S on ETX with CRSF module. My question - will my acro flying improve with a tiny Tx like the Zorro?
Boy that is something I couldn't answer and if I did it would be improper. If you have a chance to try one without buying it might be worth asking someone with one to give it a go. I suspect the first few flights will feel very awkward, if its for you I would expect to feel more comfortable with each flight, if not it will feel off through the flights.
I don't think I can properly answer that, as I normally use gamepad style radios that have a smaller gimbal in them. I rarely use a full sized radio with full sized gimbals.
Maybe I missed it, but the version with built-in lrs, does it also have the 4 in 1 module built-in? I have been using the Jumper T Lite as my daily driver and never got around to getting the external elrs module as I've been waiting for something with built-in lrs also. So I have no experience with lrs, but have been very interested in trying it out. Just been waiting for a radio with everything built-in like Frsky and lrs internally. I like the look of this compared to the Jumper T Lite pro which has the buttons which I don't like, this looks more simplified. In short can I fly anything with this lrs version without having to install external modules? 4 in 1 plus lrs?
So far the radios with internal elrs do not also include an internal 4 in 1 module. They either come with internal elrs or internal 4 in 1, not both internal.
This radio checks every box for me. I just have one question. How many flights do you get out of a full charge on the two 18350's? I know it will depend on factors like output power selected, just looking for a ballpark for the settings you use. Everybody made a big deal out of the 18500's on the X-lite and although they are a little harder to find I've never had an issue with mine. I can't see myself using an additional power module, like you I mainly fly close to home so getting 100 flights without a recharge is not something I need.
I can't say with any certainty as I didn't count and spent a significant amount of time in the radio menus between charges. If I had to guess I would have to think we can get 70+ flights, this depends how long between flights and the screen brightness settings.
good question? I like to fly 2 -4 km out ( 30-40min) with my flying wing. This small bateries are to small I think to handle that.... and this antenna ..... We have to wait for more test and long range test too
@@nucleo1772 if you can't fly for 30 - 40 minutes with those batteries, something is very wrong! Lol 🥴 That would be the downfall for this radio!!! If Nick says he expects somewhere around 70+ flights, I certainly think you can get 30 - 40 minutes! Probably 3 - 4 of those flights, I would think. 🤔👍 Plus, everyone has some 2s batteries, don't they? If not, lots are under 10 bucks! Having one you carry with you and tether to a pocket, with that cord, would not be a bad thing in an emergency. Heck, most of us use that for our goggles all the time! 😎🤘 Also, why not get a spare set of 18350's and have them in your backpack?! 👍 I use the DJI V2 goggles for both digital and analog flying. That battery pack that comes with the V2's is a total joke! It's a 2s, probably 18650 pack, and I used it once and it ran out and I was done with it! Sold it. I found a cord with the same barrel connector on it that the Goggles use. I made myself a cord to use a small 4s pack for my pocket. I use it all the time and it's fantastic! Long life, and super convenient. I actually prefer it to having a heavy battery on the back or side of my head. I think you'll find it just fine. 😎🤘
is there some box case for that radio on aliexpress cheaper then the original one ? a small one that perfectly fit for that radio and don't use too much more space ?
One of these companies should make a radio that is dedicated to quads. Not an all-around I can fly planes and helicopters and multi rotors. I don't need 50 switches, I want a tx16s basic model
I do have the t pro, but mine has a defect with the elrs module. while I have used it a fair bit I find buttons/toggles less comfortable to use, and I am not as quick to disarm, which is important to save our esc from death :)
hi there ... greatr videos ... I have recently bought a Zorro hoping to try out the tiny whoop ... the radio is set up for MODE 1 and I need it to be MODE 2 ... any chance you have mae a video about changing the sticks or gimbal from MODE 1 top MODE please??? Appreciiate any help you could share. Thnak you in advance.
I haven't. We should be able to switch the mode in the radio configuration via the buttons on the radio. I can't remember the steps for sure. I suggest diving into the radio configuration or another UA-cam search "edgetx switch mode 1 to mode2" or something along those lines.
I haven't used it in that way. In the cases when I used a secondary battery I use a small 720mah 2s battery. To me in the hands I didn't notice it there.
There is a TBS Crossfire receiver available that you can directly plug your servo leads into. When will Elrs bring out the same sort of receiver so all of theHobby can benefit from this great new Tech. ELRS will explode with these receivers available for planes without the need for a Flight controller.
I think there is a pwm board from matek is that what you looking for or close? I think not as the comment includes plug. Maybe some company will take notice of this missing market segment and do it.
The biggest disadvantage of the FrSky X-Lites is their soft/rubber varnish surface. Three years and it will feel sticky and not look nice anymore. What about the Zorro surface? And is there Bluetooth built in for conencting to a wireless head tracker (e.g. the DIY one)?
While the rubber on the back has a tacky feel to it I don't think its the same. Will it break down like the x-lite, only time will tell. Sorry I don't have any head tracker experience. I can answer that question.
I have a nice pair of headphones with that rubberized feel to them. Yes, it got sticky and wore out. Then, it gets dirty because it's sticky. But! Good news ... You can clean the dirt off and the sticky gets removed! Sure, the headphones don't have that rubberized feeling anymore, but to me that's good! Because yes, it does wear out over time, and instead of it being sticky and dirty, you can get all of that off and expose a nice, new looking surface underneath. It makes it look brand new again! Try it ... You'll like it! Just a little elbow grease! Lol 😎🤘
Nick I bought Radiomaster Zorro express LRS 4 in 1 but does that mean I don’t have Express Lrs receiver built in this radio? Or do I gotta add a module now, because I got the 4 in 1 radio? I’m confused I thought the 4 in 1 was Xpress LRS and frysky and others let me know if I need the Express Lrs module an if so witch one?
Yes, the 4 in1 does not include expresslrs. We have to have the module with that edition of the radio to run expresslrs. I haven't tested with my zorro, but any nano size module should work. One that comes to mind is the happymodel ES24TX.
Hello, I'm interested in Zoro because I want to learn drones. But I'm thinking between the ELRS starter set and CC2500. Which one shall I choose? At first, people say it's good to buy an ELRS starter set, but other people say that the cc2500 is good for later, but it's too difficult. Please help me with what I should start with.
With the 16s you have did you have to by the crsf separately cuz there is one that comes with it but not sure if they are the same and one just comes with crsf and one doesnt?
The one available with Crossfire is simply a Crossfire module that pops in the module bay in back. You can see pictures of that model coming with a Crossfire module that looks exactly like my Crossfire module I bought separately. 😎🤘
I wonder how long the batteries last? are those 900mah cells in series or parallel. i really can't see me strapping an extra pack to the bottom or using an external battery in my pocket. and If it doesn't last at least one or two field days without charging it's a no-go...
I have flown it for more than a 60min flight session. I tend to charge often as I don't want to start a session then end up with low battery. There are reports others have used it for 1.5-2hrs before recharging. Will all depend on how long the flight session is.
@@NickBurnsFPV Thank you. I appreciate that. I actually just ordered one today and can test it out soon, so you don't need to worry about testing it unless you still want to.
yes, I believe it will. I plan to bind all elrs quads to this radio as I get them or build them. Of course if they quad is frsky I would need to add a multi module to bring it over.
Ok here’s my question I have the lite pro and I’m tired of switching to my dx6i so should I buy this Controller because I like my pro because it’s a game controller or is there A module that I could buy for my pro that will make it do all Brands of transmitters
I don't believe there is a module that will do "all" the different transmitting protocols. We can get a 4in1 to do most, but this day and age I think a good many are moving or considering moving to expresslrs. I am moving to expresslrs, the range, packet rate (control speed), and the size and cost of the receivers is really compelling for me. Happymodel has a module for the lite pro. ua-cam.com/video/Eek-1W7QWAw/v-deo.html

Nick, I Heard a rumor they’re going to come out with metal gimbals for this Radiomaster ELRS radio an will probably be an extra fee but that’s what I heard hopefully it’s true, because it will be better than the plastic ones that are in it now.

NIck, I am a cyclist and I am looking for the most light, compact fpv setup that can perhaps carry a gopro or something of similar quality? Also I can fly by looking at a small screen, it doesn't have to be goggles. Do you have something you could recommend?
I don't have a small screen recommendation. I have used a few screens, but I don't fly well with them. The most small and light is likely something with the jumper t-lite, but that one might not be sold any more. To effectively we likely need a 3inch quad, unless we drop down to a insta360 go2, which isn't the same quality. The crux35 from happymodel is a 3.5inch prop quad and very light and could carry a go prop, or we might want to look at the avantquads nexa 3. down from that would be the flywoo firefly baby quad, but its not going to fly for long with a full go pro, really needs a naked go pro or insta350 go2.
@@NickBurnsFPV Thank you very much. All good choices. I love the size of the flywoo firefly baby. Is there a compact charger as well that you would recommend?
I am with you, I need those switches to quickly disarm when I crash, and it feels more natural to me.
If I was in the market for a game pad style radio I do feel this would be my choice 👍
wowo, looks like a solid radio. forsure will be on the short list of radios if for some reason i need to replace my current one.
I really like my t-lite but this is my replacement for it... The big screen is big plus for me and i like that they stuck with regular toggle switches. External battery capability also very nice especially to feed a power hungry elrs module👍 Good review again!
I tend to wait a couple months after a new radio comes out to get any bugs worked out but, this will definitely be replacing my T-lite.
This gamepad radio actually looks like one I'd get! The angle of the handles are a little less extreme it looks like.
I agree. I've been flying RC for 50 years now and am accustomed to the classic box shaped radio. I have had no interest in the gamepad style - until now. Not saying that I will be getting a Zorro, but this IS the first gamepad style radio that I have seen that I find even vaguely interesting.
Great review! I think I've decided this will by my first ELRS radio, though I'll get the 4 in 1 version and use an external ELRS.
why not buy the elrs version
Looks like a great controller for a great price! I'm a hybrid pincher myself and this looks like a comfortable controller. Great review!
YAY! That looks awesome! I
yea, for wings and planes I think trims are pretty important. its been many years for me. :)
Nice review! Hearing you say this is your new daily driver is a pretty big vote of confidence.
Yes it is, I just got done flying 24 flights with it and a new indoor quad.
Wow! It's amazing on the innovation of this hobby, specially this TX. For the price, I'm thinking of ditching my hardly used T8SG and just get this one Instead. Thanks Nick for all you do.
Thanks for the review. Appreciate your feedback. :)
I like the stick throw adjustment, I am a thumber and I find you lose precision or induce unwanted yaw or bank as your thumb arcs thru its range of motion. I shorthen my sticks on many of my radios by cutting the screw and knob a mm or two so for me this is a plus as i wont machine it immediately upon getting it.
oh I had not thought of that. Good information there. Thank you
I was sold even before any reviews came out, but when you say that it feels sorta like the X-Lite, I cant wait to get my hands on one, I also liked it a lot.
I've been waiting for this!!! I preordered site unseen! Internal elrs, gamepad and hopefully solid gimbals!
Fantastic review, Nick! Thanks a lot! 😃
That's why I watched your review first!!!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
@@NickBurnsFPV Yup, just doesn't save much time or effort! lol
I feel the same way when I hold typical square radios. Even the tango 2 feels like its to wide.
Just got mine and I’m very happy with it
Currently running a tango 2 with a ELRS module, so it may not make sense to switch…
I’ll have to hold one and see how it feels in my hands compared to my Tango!
yes, video format certainly can't tell us if it will have the fit and comfort in our own hands. I to have a tango 2, I found the toggles and buttons weren't something I could get used to. I also wanted more of an inward slant to increase my comfort.
the "gamepad style" probably started with the more ergonomic PS1/N64 gamepads. everything before is what you said, a flat controller.
First again! Can’t wait for that radio with ELRS internal… to get my feet wet with Express LRS
Pincher holder + game pad styler here, it is the way 🤣🤣👍
Looks like the new leader in gamepad-style controllers. (Radiomaster, send Nick a multi-protocol version along with 2 cases!)
I would think so too.
The tx16s has 2 ports as well. The tx12 only one tho.
Great review Nick.
Great review, can you please post the details of the quad that you are flying inside the house. Thanks
If I recall its a 1s with the x12 AIO, 0802 19000kv motors, mobula 7 frame and 40mm gemfan props.
Your video was the first. Good stuff as usual Nick.
@@licensetodrive9930 you would be the one to make it happen. Maybe start a trend in fpv.
@@licensetodrive9930 it's not worth your time. Unless you think plugging in a USBC is an effort. Lol 🙄
I've always thought wireless charging is like little sprinkles on a cake 🎂 ...
But i hear you, plug a usb c cable isn’t the end of the world
Lol, I'm in the same video game age group! Good info!
It will be interesting to hear your take coming from a traditional larger radio down to the zorro. You also getting the ag -01 mini gimbals?
I started thumbing myself and switched, I found like you I wasn't as in control with just my thumbs.
@@Latchfpv I wonder if its the same way for stuff like cell phones or tv etc.
When you tried to use it in a sim was that a wired connection or the elrs bluetooth?
both, I only have fpv freerider and tinywhoopGo. I don't sim much :)
Thanks Nick
I would go with the Jumper T Pro with built in 1W ELRS. Both have their advantages, but the battery on the Radiomaster...
Yea, I don't know if that is a good idea. Maybe version 2 of the elrs version. It has a flaw if the flashing doesn't go 100% right.
Awesome review Nick!
What is the quad in first flight? Flight amazing. Thanks
Its a 75mm whoop. nothing particularly special. This is the whoop ua-cam.com/video/wgE_o6Ynmyo/v-deo.html
The X-Lite switches move easy, especially for as short as they are. Do these switches move as easy as the X-Lite switches? Do the S1 and S2 sliders have a noticeable center detent?
Thanks for the review! I was wondering throughout the entire thing if you’d be switching, which you covered right at the end 😁
yes, I suspect they are the same switches. not to many companies make these components.
Near perfect...would prefer 18650 batteries. Cosmetically, it has the silhouette of the X-Lite with the screen added. Like the functionalities of the controls. Love the price.
A bigger battery capacity would have been nice forsure, #1 complaint.
I don't understand why they put the screen on top instead of bottom. That would make it more compact.
I can't say I know if that was considered or not. I can see that it might be so unusual it might not be accepted.
Will you use this over your TX16S? Are they coming out with those high end gimbals for this one?
Yes I prefer the smaller radios. They are to come out with the cnc gimbals but I have not seen them yet
Which PC sims did the radio not work with? Does it work with Liftoff or DRL?
Well if something comes out from an embargo and is a product provided, there usually arent a lot of different perspectives. Only one. And a bunch of links I should click to help out.
That can be true, i wouldn't say its a 100%, global terms are rarely accurate.
I'm still using my Frsky Taranis X9d Plus. See no reason to change if it is not broke don't fix it.
certainly don't need to spend money if we are happy with what we have.
@@NickBurnsFPV Thx. Makes sense. So -- no magic with the tiny Ts -- just preference. I'll stick with my lovely color touchscreen for now.
Did the gimbal feel like a full size compare to the x lite? i have t he x lite and debating rather to upgrade to this.
@@NickBurnsFPV that's a bummer, thanks
@@NickBurnsFPV Thanks Nick. For myself I would say I fly between 10 and 30 or so flights a week so the 18350's would be more than enough for me.
good question? I like to fly 2 -4 km out ( 30-40min) with my flying wing. This small bateries are to small I think to handle that.... and this antenna ..... We have to wait for more test and long range test too
@@nucleo1772 if you can't fly for 30 - 40 minutes with those batteries, something is very wrong! Lol 🥴 That would be the downfall for this radio!!! If Nick says he expects somewhere around 70+ flights, I certainly think you can get 30 - 40 minutes! Probably 3 - 4 of those flights, I would think. 🤔👍
Plus, everyone has some 2s batteries, don't they? If not, lots are under 10 bucks! Having one you carry with you and tether to a pocket, with that cord, would not be a bad thing in an emergency. Heck, most of us use that for our goggles all the time! 😎🤘
Also, why not get a spare set of 18350's and have them in your backpack?! 👍
I use the DJI V2 goggles for both digital and analog flying.
I don't know. There are so many products available for other uses that might work but I could say with any certainty.
One of these companies should make a radio that is dedicated to quads. Not an all-around I can fly planes and helicopters and multi rotors. I don't need 50 switches, I want a tx16s basic model
there is internal ELRS in jumper t-pro can u do review about it ..
Have you gotten a chance to use the jumper T pro yet? I just got mine not that long ago and this video makes me interested in the Zorro. Hmmmmm 🤔
How comfortable is the raido with a 2s 18650 battery underslung like they suggest for back up battery
They must be pushing for express lrs cuz I notice the version for crsf wasn't with the 4in1 it was with the cc2500
Module bay would take a crossfire module. Is there any radio with crossfire built in other then TBS?
@@philsonnenberg6092 not that I've heard of.
One that comes to mind is the happymodel ES24TX.
the slim pro version is the one your looking for

At first, people say it's good to buy an ELRS starter set, but other people say that the cc2500 is good for later, but it's too difficult. Please help me with what I should start with.

my 16s has the namimno elrs module. the only crossfire I have is built into the tango 2 I have.

Do you know if the FrSky XJT Lite module will work, especially on the ELRS version of the Zorro? Is that something you could test?

Awsome!! Cant wait to seeA follow up video after you have used it for awhile…is it going to take tlite’s place as dd?
yes, I believe it will. I plan to bind all elrs quads to this radio as I get them or build them. Of course if they quad is frsky I would need to add a multi module to bring it over.

@@D18racer51 yes the elrs version. The original multi protocol version they sent with a module had a defect. :(
Ok here’s my question I have the lite pro and I’m tired of switching to my dx6i so should I buy this Controller because I like my pro because it’s a game controller or is there A module that I could buy for my pro that will make it do all Brands of transmitters
I don't believe there is a module that will do "all" the different transmitting protocols. We can get a 4in1 to do most, but this day and age I think a good many are moving or considering moving to expresslrs. I am moving to expresslrs, the range, packet rate (control speed), and the size and cost of the receivers is really compelling for me. most whoop cameras are less than 2 grams then we start to compromise flight performance. I guess we could use the caddx ratel starlight, but its more than 3 grams and not really for a whoop.
Every video I see about this radio, it makes me feel like my speaker is broken. It sounds far less clear than the UA-cam videos. Did you lower your volume prior to recording?
The speaker is about as good as the typical radio speaker, which isn't very good. I believe the volume is at about 50%
@@NickBurnsFPV okay. My volume is at 10. Maybe if I lower it the sound will be clearer
Sorry about this comment out of context : I"m looking for the most "resilient" drone for the hard conditions of winter !! 2" max. Ideally under 100g and strong enough to resist to a wind of 9 mph. Any suggestion to fly outside ? As you mentioned in a previous video the cold weather will harden the frame and the props. what do you think of TKS rocket race ?
Do you mean this rocket race? ua-cam.com/video/ah8SahLPS2Y/v-deo.html
@@NickBurnsFPV Yes this TKS ... 2" max - under 100g - stong enough to resist to a wind of 9 mph - RESILIENT IN WINTER CONDITIONS ??? I'm not sure about my last criteria !!
@@emmanuelcheveau4891 for outdoor with those requirements I would build the rocket race, its one of my favorite micros. Are you looking for something in the whoop category?
@@NickBurnsFPV any type of drone as long as it meets all my criteria : 2" max - under 100g - resist to a wind of 9 mph - resilient to winter conditions of Canada :) My only issue with the rocket is its level of resilience.. the rocket is relatively bare and the components are exposed to heavy shocks, am I wrong ?
@@emmanuelcheveau4891 rocket race on 2s is my recommendation
Looks good, when's the NB version coming? 😅🤞
lol, I don't suspect we will see such a thing :)
@@NickBurnsFPV yet
will this work on a makerfire armor 65 lite?
Nick, I Heard a rumor
they’re going to come out with metal gimbals for this Radiomaster ELRS radio an will probably be an extra fee but that’s what I heard hopefully it’s true, because it will be better than the plastic ones that are in it now.
Yes, They did say they will have something like the AG-01 all metal gimbals. I didn't mention it in the video as plans don't always come to reality. But I hope so, it would be a nice upgrade.
Will this radio work with the XJT lite External module?
yes it should if that is a nano sized module.
I also have to look into a compact radio. For the screen I could use my mobile phone with the receiver perhaps. I know there will be some latency, but I fly slow cinematic stuff anyway.
@@joaomarveloso1049 There are receivers that work with cell phones. Be aware the processing into the cell phone will have a delay. I haven't used one in years. I have several chargers, normally I use at least a dual port charger which makes it slightly bigger.
@@NickBurnsFPV Thank you for your help Nick :)
zorro has the same gimbals as jumper t- lite?
no, zorro gimbals are adjustable via the face.
Nick, do you fly Acro indoors?
I do. I am pretty bad at angle. I try it from time to time but it feels awkward
Hmm.. this might be the first radio tempting me away from my belove t8sgv3.... (which has been rocking elrs for a long time now..)
love this radio even though i havent owned one yet. but its coming ,😍 im really concern with your weight loss. jst curious are you feeling alright sir?😥
lol the weight loss is by design. I have been working on reducing my weight.
@@NickBurnsFPV good to know. 🤗 keep safe and stay healthy.
for TBS Crossfire nano, what i need to select
Would need an external nano module.
