I picked up an IdeaPad 5-14xxx with 8GB of RAM and an i5-10xxx; it definitely seemed to lag inappropriately for its specs. So, I checked all the background processes that run at start-up and Lenovo (as my previous experience) has WAY TOO MUCH bloatware and a slow SSD. I was fortunate enough to have a Win10 pro copy to install, and I bought a 1TB SSD, so I did a baseline... the initial results were panicky because Lenovo has done some strange stuff with all their drivers. On initial boot, the trackpad would not work and they would not update (and other devices). Finally, after several MS updates and a few restarts, everything came back to life and it was running much smoother. But note that I did not re-install any of Lenovo's "management" software. If you think of going this route, be sure to go to the Lenovo support site and download/create a recovery USB storage drive (or simply leave the original SSD on the side). I suppose it would have helped if I directly benchmarked it before and after.
