I still have my 8800 bfg, it's broken and the board been stripped to a bare pub. I have another working nvida branded one from a dell still. Probably buys storages off some computer stores that are no longer in business. Retro gaming isn't big in Eastern Europe so a lot of parts are dirt cheap.

I could dead easy get me a core2 or even something like an AMD K6 for less than $5 if I wanted, but I'll be damned if I can find 64MB 72-pin SIMMs for a socket 7 system for cheap!! those suckers have really gone up in price and don't pop up super commonly.
Over the years, I'm pretty sure that you're more likely to enjoy the building process of system than actually having said systems. 😅 makes me think under different circumstances you'd probably be a hell of mechanic or custom car builder.

This was the type of setup we were rocking in New Zealand around early 2000s. Last daily driver I saw like this was around 2011. He even had a 28 button game pad. His clear case was a desktop as opposed to a tower, had CD drive, HDD, PSU at the bottom and motherboard on the top (to show it off). Love the cold cathode lamps!
Oh man, you and your setup took me back to 2005 when I was younger and things were a lot easier. I remember how marvelled I was seeing LanParty motherboards in my local showcase... Thank you so much for making me remember those good old days again.
What so cool is when you build a computer from the ground up, assuming you hand picked the parts based on research, you KNOW what is already in that computer case. Definitely sweet to see these builds come through. Love the yellow/green accents. I'm colorblind.

Had all the bells and whistles, bent sides, vacuum lowered drive bay holders, that was in 2003. Come two years, it was all ruffed from dust cleaning and lan party travels. Swapped back to the old standard dragon front in 2007. That machine has been like that ever since, same x850pe, same athlon xp 3,2+, same enermax 353 and twinmos 512mb rams. Its a time capsule I hold dear, except for that acrylic front, it floats around somewhere in my cellar.

I miss when UV reactive stuff was more commonplace. It'd be super cool to still be able to get modern system boards and components (outside of liquid cooling since that still has UV reactive coolants and tubing, luckily) with stuff like UV reactive coatings on hea t spreaders, cabling and slots / covers again.
I still have those green uv-reactive fans, the black light CCFLs and the yellow cables from my almost identical build from 2006. This vid took me WAY back!

I actually had this mobo back then with the same CPU, delidded and watercooled directly. My god what a good times! Loved the MOBO and I do miss it ever since. Also running ATI Radeon X800 XT i think. I wonder where did it end up, I am still using the DFI case carry straps on my desktop :D
I still have a similar set up sitting in my loft from back in the day. Beantech acrylic case, cold cathode tubes. Originally had the LanParty Nf2, but was upgraded in 2006 to NF590 with Athlon 64 4200+ and thermaltake big typhoon heatsink. BFG 7600GT card, along with 2 WD Raptor HDD's in RAID.
Fantastic build, despite all the _translucentness_ my favorite component are the matte black Tracert! 😎 P.S. you could have done some overclocking on that Opteron though 😜
Ultra-D is the ultimate AMD DDR board. One of the jumpers at the top right is to lock the memory voltage to the 3V rail. then you overvolt that rail. Used to run a set of OCZ Gold Win bond at 500mhz cas2. Has to be one of my all time favorite AMD boards next to the Abit NF7-S.
I still have my Opteron175 with a ASUS A8N SLi Deluxe. I remember I had 3 motherboards, and I was allways RMA'ing them. One or two gone, and another to play... It was nuts how the Opteron 175 killed so many boards :D :D
I've not even watched the video yet and 10 seconds in it really makes me want to make something like this when i saw a lot of these LAN Party boards on 939 and 775 on ebay, but importing some UV power supplies and fans from the USA sends the price right up :(
Had this same board back in the day (still have it, and loved it so much I actually got a second), although with an Opteron 165 to squeeze the most value possible, and I was still able to achieve FX 60 level clocks and thus performance. I never did do the mod to convert the Ultra D into an SLI capable board, but then I was running an X800 XL at the time. I do have an 8800 GTX and could effectively match this build, but maybe its time to pick up a pair of more period-appropriate 6800s or 7800s, do the SLI mod and have some fun tinkering that way.
Stock speeds it will be worse than an FX 60 (2GHz vs 2.6GHz), but once overclocked to similar levels, performance should be indistinguishable (although the FX should have a slightly higher OC ceiling). I had an Opteron 165 overclocked to FX-60 levels back in the day; was particularly amazing value because I was able to buy the chip for less than even the cheapest Athlon X2 available at the time. I had all the cache (most of the cheaper Athlon X2s had half the cache), all the MHz, but for the lowest price, it just took some tuning, which is half the fun anyway

The general design of the CPU cooler is freakin sick. It could be so cool i mean, just go over the complete half top of the Mainboard and cool the VRMs + RAM with 2x 120mm Fans. Holy shit.

Это чудо стояло на входе в компьютерный магазин, куда мы с отцом таскали наше недоразумение с вечным вопросом: "пашыму не пашет, мы же постучали уже палками и приклеили икону?!". И пока моему отцу объясняли, я капал слюнями уткнувшись носом в витрину с этим чудом техники, на котором был ценник заставляющий моих родителей истерично смеяться и повторять: "заработаешь, купишь себе". Так что да, я мог о нём только мечтать, о чём я и написал.

Спустя годы видео этого "чеха" навеяли желание повторить подобного рода энтузиасткую сборку, но меня удивляет, что он умудряется находить "нулячие" акриловые корпуса, не пользованные люминесцентные подсветки и... РАБОЧУЮ 8800 ультра! То есть, вопрос даже не в том, в какую сумму ему все это обошлось, а как вообще он это смог найти!

Магазин славился тем, что в нём можно было не только новое покупать, но и б/у + они занимались ремонтом и покупали у людей разное железо. В те времена, понимания, что и куда особо не было и потому "нагреть лоха" было святым долгом. Я думаю всё дело в культуре потребления. Откройте видео где люди скупают заброшенные контейнера (гаражи) в США и у вас глаза на лоб полезут от того, как они хранят, что хлам, что ценности + развитость Амазона среди этих перекупов. Это не Авито, там над репутацией аккаунта трясутся. В общем все, как всегда, упирается в уровень достатка людей, а не в том, какие они ценители прекрасного. Как по мне, выглядит этот компьютер, в нынешних реалиях, весьма убого. Есть в нём, конечно, свой шарм, но поймут это только старики. Да и в целом, я уже имею горький опыт осуществления детской мечты...

Дело тут не столько в "стариках", сколько в энтузиастки настроенных (увлеченных) людях. Я к там уже не первый год отношусь, человека на данных видео "идейно" понимаю и полностью поддерживаю и от вида процесса сборки подобного железа получаю чуть-ли ни эстетический орг...зм, понятный только таким же (увлеченным) людям. До роста цен в россии сам занимался подобными проектами в качестве хобби. Был там и проект моей "детской мечты". Правда, как правило, все они были направлены на сборку определенного функционала конкретной компьютерной эпохи и его разгон, а вот у "чеха" в каждом втором видео идет упор в визуальную часть (некоторые подобные его сборки толком и не работают). Это мне кажется интересным и есть желание по возможности в будущем что-то из этого повторить.

You should find a Mountain Mods case, remember when they were all the rage? I used to have one and I used it as a table it was so big.... Then I spilt my drink and it killed it lol.
I enjoy watching your content. Also i must comment how good of an idea it is to use ssds if the motherboard has sata interface. Those hdds are just too fradgile and slow as well as noisy, and in your case for filming that helps a lot

RGB can increase your fps up to 15 fps, but UV effects can increase up to 33 fps on the game

You should find a Mountain Mods case, remember when they were all the rage? I used to have one and I used it as a table it was so big.... Then I spilt my drink and it killed it lol.

My friend had this exact case as well. He had a dual socket P3 system, UV lights. It's not forgiving of cable clutter.

I enjoy watching your content. Also i must comment how good of an idea it is to use ssds if the motherboard has sata interface. Those hdds are just too fradgile and slow as well as noisy, and in your case for filming that helps a lot
