Old PC parts are awesome and it is so unfortunate that we lost all this personality and variety from PC components in two decades or so. Now most computer builds try to achieve some specialty with unnecessary amount of RGB but non of them can achieve this feeling, can't really describe :)
That GPU mount is extremely technical, I love it.
That is the real spirit. Doing a bit work to get things working. Did something similar on the Socket A cooler for my Pentium 3. The mounting hook was a bit long, but nothing a Dremel can't deal with. Same for a diy benchtable from some old case.
Also reminds me on the copper shims people put on their Athlon XP to protect it when using coolers with higher mounting pressures.
I've seen these accessories before separately. Never in my life have I ever seen all of them on one computer. We need to bring back PCs with style.
I think too much effort and cost for brand , so may never again see ones like that:/
OMG I built this exact pc in 2009 .... so cool. Those TT Duorbs sucked but they looked so cool. God this brings back memories.
Thanks for posting this.
I still have my Nvidia 8800gt with that cooler running in a server.
Such a great Era of pc technology beautiful build
Those temps on the 4850 are really something, below 40c at full load! excellent work man!
Brings back memories of looking at products for hours on eshops from when I was younger.
that GPU mounting strategy is top notch, props to you!
That one fan with the red leds... aughh what were thermaltake thinking???
who knows :-)
bro that red fan killed my vibe, i would buy 2 just to swap a fan out
You assumed Thermaltake was attempting to think... The same company that made the Volcano 9...
bro its like 2008 tech they where thinking good....
Haha, nice, 74 people thought the same
I remember this being my first build, Core 2 Quad Q6600 hooked up to a GeForce 9500GT, soo many memories, glad you can bring back soo many memories
As a piece of modern art, this is a masterpiece build of the Zalmanesque copper coiled cooler aesthetic. I love it and wish cooler manufacturers still built in this style.
Wow that thing sure is pretty funky!
And that RAM clearance was tight, with a very interesting GPU mount
How much copper do you want ? YES! I totaly dig this build mate. It's something that I used to drool over back when this stuff was new.
Awesome build and skills man! I have a sweet spot for the core 2 quads. Thats what I started tinkering with after 15 years of being out of the loop. Now I'm back into computers doing what I used to.
The good ol days of cutting edge of PC tech
This is the first youtube channel my son ever has seen he is 9 months old
I don't know what to say, that hasn't already been said. You managed to make this collection of parts, into a work of art. Well done, sir.
Just write some "Yeah..." answers like I did xD
absolutely love the look of this build, heatpipes ago ago and flower orbs ftw
That is just awesome! I used to be a big Zalman fan, and thought they made the best looking retro copper coolers, but that is seriously the best looking cooling setup from that time era that I've seen to date. Also...STALKER series...one of my top games of all time. Played through all of them and a bunch of mods. Might go and see what new mods are out, haven't checked in awhile.
The nostalgia is real
Продолжай заниматься этим, у тебя отлично получается!
Эстетика в этих видосах зашкаливает.
Крепление видеокарты - мое почтение!
Had the XFX HD4850s 1GB edition in crossfire back in the day. Good cards, good times.
So cool that you found these coolers new in box.
Fantastic build, I wonder if anyone back in the day tried to assemble these parts.
not to much people, these coolers were quite expensive and noisy ... I saw lot of hates and customers returned items to shops
@@RETROHardware even more costly tryna do this today, bc of you I started to get back to my roots when I started pc gaming & man getting retro parts is not only hard but expensive, I'm doing a retro xp build rn with a lanparty 939 ultra I paid 200 on ebay but came with mint box cib using a Athlon 64 3400+ with a asus silent knight the cpu only costed me 30 usd but the cpu cooler new I'm box costed me 80 usd, still need memory & gpu, I wanted a chieftech dragon case but that's impossible to find so got a ultra wizard case brand new for 200 shipped which that case is the next best thing and psu I got a ultra a 500 watt ultra it's the neon green one that reacts to black light, that costed me 60 usd and brand new in box, so I'm pretty much almost done just need memory and gpu
@@SeriousGlitcher Man, that's some coincidence. I'm doing a 939 build also, except I went with an Asus A8N32-SLI deluxe because I didn't feel like paying for a Lanparty. Also got an FX-60 with the board, and I'm reusing my old Scythe Zipang.
For my PSU I have a Tagan BZ-700 with the glowing modular ports, and I haven't settled on a case or graphics cards yet. I have 2 Akasa Vortexx Neo's I'm going to mount on them, so if anyone has suggestions for appropriate cards/cases I'm all ears.
I hope your build works out. Athlon 64 lives on!

Good Morning
about cooler fans ...
You know how to modify the fans on a hp server to make less noise ... I have this little problem and I don't know how to solve it
thanks
@@MECANICA_NA_GARAGEM change the fan to low db one like noctua or be quite! Fans
Great craftsmanship and attention to detail! Loved the way you tackled the fitment issues!
Interesting take on a diy vertical gpu mount there, motherboard probably only needs a bios update too support the q9300 or whatever the processor was, got plenty of room for overclocking the q6600 for sure, 3 ghz should be no sweat, just lowering ram speed one step from its rated overclock speed, putting 333 fsb & a bit more core voltage if it's unstable & it's done pretty much.
I still remember when I first saw this motherboard on the cover of a computer magazine back in high school! Wow, I could never imagine I saw this video in 2021
my first "high end" system was an Athlon X2 7750 BE with a HD 4850 on DuoRbs!!!! quiet af, and excelent cooling! for the cpu i was using a Gelid Solutions Silent Spirit!, i clocked that bad boy to 3.2ghz from its original 2.7
My very first "gaming" pc was a q6600 and an hd4870. How the time flies.
Super cool, a sea of copper in one build, very well thought out. Those GPU standoffs were a bit overkill but if you wanted it screwed in it's a great technical solution. Too bad for no PCI sound but I guess this is the point where on-board audio was starting to get decent (P35, P45 and on).
I really love this retro PC build and several builds like this, The style and look is not replicable or can't be replaced by modern tech
I miss the old school stuff and the games were better back then too
"Retro"... I'm watching this on mine HD4850 by ASUS, same cooler, but with painting on it
Eternally retro !!
@@looweegee252 No, I was at my grandparents house
@@mmllmmll22 be less argumentative
@@chilldudie242 well it will be 13 years old this year... and since it cant run any of the latest games due to lack of dx11 and higher i think its pretty safe to call it retro. btw the hd4850 was my first proper gaming card back in 2009.
Yeah! I was playing League of Legends with my HD3850 512MB until months ago, when it died :c
Wow, i have the same exact setup during my Q6600 days. I have two MSI HD4850 in crossfire, MSI P45 Platinum, 4x 1GB Corsair XMS
получилось как атомная станция в миниатюре.))
Ад да
Шикарное видео!
Подборка раритетных комплектующих удивительная. Я вообще первы раз вижу такие комплекты охлаждения, а ведь они из середины 2000-х)
Wow, these old machines have great vibes. Good old days. 2:19
RAM with heatsink and fan, CPU with fancy heatsink and graphic card custom with fancy heatsink. It totally fancy.
And that is wet dream of air cooling before water blocks ;)
Copper copper everywhere ! Excellent build again .
Thermaltake and Zalman will always had the most inspiring designs ever
I would love to watch this beast pushed to limits, I had the same processor and a HD3870 before.
I was having HD 4850 exactly the same model as here in 2010 and also same CPU there was beast of that time!Remembering Crysis 2 comes out everyone freak out how demandig game was.Old gold times, before that gpu i was have HD 3850
A rollercoaster or a drone?
Yes.
No words can describe how amazing it is.
Awesome. Makes me feel like watching some MacGyver or A-Team episode. 👍
Nice job
This isn't only PC building
This is ART
Bravo👏
I had these exact same specs. But I had two HD4850 in my setup. The crazy fans weren't there. I did have an all copper CPU fan though that look like those. Nice build!
On a Retro LAN party I would be all over this! What a great built! Good job love your hard work!
I was a big Zalman fan back then and I wanted that motherboard so much!
What a fuckin AWESOME video! Great shit mate!!!
I feel this comment in Australian.
all those heatpipes could cool down my A8 7600 lol, seriously older machines are totally awsome
2000's where so much fun.
I saw ATI in the video thumbnail and thought "damn, people are getting REALLY desperate for a gpu these days"
Cool build!
It looks like it's about to take off and fly away, I love it.
Aaah the Copper age of pc building
I love this build. I can tell that you put a lot of thought and time preparing. Building custom computers is a lot of fun. Great job and I'm definitely subscribing to this channel
I kinda miss those old school copper cooler
Just Epic the way the copper stands out is greatly !
So, it seems you found my old PC from 2006. I had a G0 stepping Q6600, that thing was a beast.
wow you took this seriously! really like the result, especially on the 4850!
I love retro hardware
one of the best builds i have seen in a long time. great work.
Really unique looking setup and a surprising amount of work went into it. Those coolers really look nice when they're brand new.
Are you planning on keeping this together or are you taking it apart after this video?
you will see soon :-)
Holy cow! Max temps at 46°C !? That's incredible cooling
Zaman fans... Good old days
that copper heatstink is truely beatiful
Man you should be proud of that. That's functional art brother
One of your coolest builds!
Good for one of those clear acrylic cases. But you have to change that red led
Although the GPU mounting is really janky, this is probably the coolest PC build I've seen, bravo.
Remarkable, I am a fan of many Fans.
This might have been the last time Thermalfake was actually designing their own products.
Still were copying Zalman, and look at how he had to use shims to mount the VGA heatsink, still shit-house quality back in the day lol.
damn i also cried watching this vid..brings back so many good memories back in mid 2000..i have a 478 p4 with agp card..i was so proud because i could play NFS underground
That is absolutely amazing man. It's true piece of art, I think it deserves a nice display case ;)
I know it’s been 2 years but had to respond to this build. My daughter is still doing a little modern gaming on a q9550 running a ssd and a 2gb graphics card. She can’t play a lot of games on it but she can play her favorite game Dead by Daylight with it. She loves your build because she is into steampunk.
Ps. She does have another pc that will play all the games on steam but she keeps using her first pc for sentimental purposes.
"how many fans and heatsinks do you want on your motherboard?"
"yes"
Two years ago, I found a PC in the dumpster. It had a MSI P965 Platinum with 24 bad capacitors. After I did the recap, the board started working.
However it only worked with a few C2D bcs the MSI BIOS didnt support my Q6600 or E8400. I found a Beta BIOS in a forum and now works with all my C2D C2Q.
I had the same mobo, MSI P35 Platinum in 2007, with a C2D E6420@3 GHZ, 2x1GB DDR2 800 Gskill and XFX 8800GT.
I’m just going to say it. This is freaking sick.
I'm planning on a copper build myself. Got a Zalman CNPS 9500 and a Maximus Formula. All it takes is a massive chunk of copper for the HD 4870
Those RAM coolers are so overkill. I mean, they aren't needed, DDR2 stays cool even with oc, but I love how they look.
The build of legends.
If you're first PC Hardware is considered Retro ...
the hd4850 was my first proper gaming card back in 2009... was pretty good for a 12 year old kid lol
@@talvisota327 I actually had the 3870 and it is still working although not used anymore
Some overclock great results. This equipments are so powerful
Love things like the DuOrb! Much like tailfins on cars, they weren't necessarily better than the standard option but they look wild!
I've got a Q35 build in planning with a Core 2 Duo E8400 and a DuOrb right now. Just shopping for a suitable case to show it off!
This is a real steampunk motherboard
OMG!! There are no words! Amaizing build!! Love your work and videos! Respect again! 😎✊👍
Not gonna lie this looks so much better than most modern PC's
one of the best enthusiast builts i've ever seen. looks like helicarrier 😁.
😎👌
Now we need a Thermalright one: VRM, NB, SB, Back of the socket, memory... :)
Damn. This IS My Old SetUp. As Far As HW And I Rocked It For 2 Years Q6600 Though.
Here in Brazil, this is called "Gambiarra" it's like a "work around solution". However, was a good job and video.
New hardware is cool but could we get crazy coolers like that back one day 😔
It's awesome, bro! Like retro from early 20-ties! 2003-2004!
good old time hardwares tt orb
I need to watch this video till the end, because i get 0% brain activity while watching it, it's almost if i were in a catatonic or near death experience, but getting back to normal after it's over, is not easy.
I am enjoying this video thoroughly on my X5470 powered PC
Wow, this build came out really great... Nicely symmetrical with dual fans on both sides... One thing i wonder... Why isone fan red? Hahaha. Looks cool though. Maybe a few incandescent lights (oven lights, undervolted) at the level of the motherboard could give the copper a nice golden sheen to enhance the look? Just an idea ;) i like lights
cant believe this computer outperforms mine and is called retro
Very nice configuration, I would say unique, congratulations for the time you dedicate to create something unique of the old times
Never seen such a weird build, but it looks really awesome.
I do like this retro style
