The spray can primer idea over bare metal is money. I think SEM or a product like that would be a bit better though. A true etch is an acid that actually etches the metal. I think everything in the rustoleum family of primers is all lacquer based and doesn’t really etch.
Actually it etches really well. I haventhad a problem out of it in just spot watching wouldnt do whole car though .

Upol has a self etch in a can that's phenomenal...... About $25 a can tho but it's supposed to be the real deal.

I remember watching you years ago and applying the knowledge. It seemed impossible. But after a few years i can say im a pro. So if your watching this if u work hard in a few months you can do good work if u just fil sand repeat. Paint sand repeat enough times.

Really nice job shooting flake. I know I'm going to date myself but I never liked flake whenever it was metal or glass. I haven't tried shooting this new flake but hopefully I will have time this summer to give it a try. It is so light it's like pixie dust. That's a good thing though because there's less likelihood of it clumping or sagging.

Hey sprayway! Love the work! I dont ushally watch hour long videos, but i always tune into your videos without any skipping or jumping! Quick question tho, for a deep scratch on a car(keyed), can i just sand the scratch to smooth, or would i have to fill it with bondo so there wont be a line left behind after paint? Thanks!
You can do either…it probably would be easier filling it with some glazing putty and then sand

That strip that goes along the top of the back bumper, the one with the seem in the middle. That's chromed. Atleast it's that plastic chrome stuff with a clear cover. Did it get painted because it was cloudy? I pulled mine apart and polished it, then coated it back with epoxy. Looked good as new.

So . Adding flake into your base coat saves you some time and material . But , you’re spraying base with no filter/ screen . How does it come out ?

pros and cons of mixing flake directly into base coat? This would help me tremendously aside form the cost too. Please advise/explain =)
The pros = less stages, cost of material……The cons = if you doing artwork or anything over it you might stand a chance of messing it up without spraying it in a intercoat clear / binder

Yes you can wet sand with 400….wet sanding get it much smoother
Marvin, are the micro flakes small enough to be metallic and not metal flake? I have a solid dark blue boat deck paint I want to use on my motorcycle and it is a solid color with no metallic and want to put metallic in it. I'm having a hard time finding online what metallic is exacly. I'm guessing it is micro flake but I'm not sure. Thanks, DC
