      Chasing a Plate - Food and Travel Channel I am absolutely looking forward to eating in Thailand. I'm a slim guy with a massive appetite. I heard food is cheap but portions are suited to Thai people so they're small. Were you able to eat several dishes because the dish sizes are small. I'd like to know as I'm planning to fast in advance!

    • @ChasingaPlate
      @ChasingaPlate  7 років тому +1

      JJ L both Thomas and I (well actually more me if truth be told 😆 ) have massive appetites and the food is just so good in Thailand that we eat about 6 meals a day hahah. Also, like you mentioned, portion sizes are small but commensurate with the price point. We would probably spend a maximum of about $10-15USD a day on food per person in Thailand- that's eating all our food on the street and in really local restaurants- and us not holding back at all. You find yourself constantly snacking or just stopping for a bowl of noodles at a street vendor if you're peckish. There is literally food everywhere you turn! You are going to have the BEST time! Cheers, Sheena P.S Hilarious that you're going to fast in advance 😂

      Chasing a Plate - Food and Travel Channel Absolutely, I take my food seriously even if it means a 24 hour fast beforehand! I won't be in Chiang Mai during a Sunday sadly but I hope the food stalls will still be up during the week nights.

    Guys where do l start!! This has got to be our favourite video of "Chasing a Plate" we cracked up laughing the entire time. How many Beers did you consume prior to whipping out the camera🤣🤣!! Sheena you totally rocked at working all the moves for this lot. So glad you got a new microphone at some point, those close ups had you both going cross eyed. The content still sensational and thats never changed, you find all the good stuff. Thomas trying to explain the Look Choop was golden "thing". I have got to watch this one again when lm "feeling blue". If this ever arrived in my "suggestions list" l would still have fallen in love with your videos and stayed for more good stuff this was a hoot👍👍👍👏

    I wish I can be in Bangkok now. Yes the pretty little dessert is mashed up mung bean shaped into fruits or vegetables and then then dipped into melted agar agar/jelly.

    I love your videos and thank you so much for making them. You guys are so down to earth. I'm returning to Asia for my 3rd time since Jan 2017. I have been using my phone and a 9 yr old Canon camera and need something better to capture my memories. May I ask what camera you use? Did you use it for most of this video? As the quality is very good on my 55" TV. I need to get a new camera and I am a novice, would receive this right before my 2mo Asia trip with no time to learn now or on trip. Will I still get excellent pics and videos? How about for low light and night pics and videos? Thank you so much!

      Hi magicbobNJ! Thanks so much for your kind words and we're so glad you're enjoying our videos! How exciting that you're got a big trip coming up! Where will you be visiting? We now film on a Lumix GH5 but this video that you've commented on was filmed with a Cannon G7X Mark ii. It's an amazing point and shoot camera and is very good in low light. Please let us know if you need any more info! Thanks so much for watching. Cheers, Thomas 😀

      @@ChasingaPlate Hi Thomas! So using just it's point and shoot features, pics and videos will be as sharp as yours, including in low light? Here is my itinerary: Bangkok Jan 20-23, Amphawa Jan 24-25, Bangkok Jan 26-29. Chiang Mai Jan 30-Feb 5. Luang Prabang Feb 6-12. HCMC Feb 14-17. Hoi An Feb 18-21. Hanoi Feb 22-25. Then somewhere in Northern Vietnam such as Ninh Binh/Trang An, Mai Chau, and/or Moc Chau. I'm considering Myanmar after that. Have you been there?

    Sheena and fried chicken. 😂 Did not hear about pork spine soup until after Thailand but I want to try it! That mixed noodle dish is Bamee Asawin. Bamee (egg noodles) Haeng (dry...often soup on the side) is typical street food. Bamee Haeng has simple toppings like sliced pork. When it comes with seafood, pork, veg, dumplings, balls, the kitchen, it's Bamee Asawin. Quite delicious.
    Terrific night. Made the train market look super interesting and fun. 👍 So many fantastic shots and really excellent commentary. Oh and Chang beer...doesn't get more Thai than that.

    • @ChasingaPlate
      @ChasingaPlate  7 років тому +1

      Tosh T I'm just obsessed with it! I think we had fried chicken about 7 times whilst we were in Bangkok and we were only there for 10 days 😆 Thanks so much for that info on the Bamee Asawin- we really need to get better at learning our different Thai noodles dishes! Got really into having bamee haeng after our visit to Rot Fai! The pork soup was fantastic- definitely a goer. Rot Fai had a lot more variety than we were expecting so really glad we made it. Thanks for watching mate. Cheers, Sheena

    My favourite thing I ate in Bangkok was the salted fish that is stuffed with lemongrass! I'm not sure what it is called in Thai, but often if you go to little roadside restaurants they'll have these huge salted fish rotating on the BBQ outside. A must try!

      I love this place near Phloen Chit BTS. Just after the highway there is this big green market with some seafood restaurants. Might not be the best in BKK, but for the location/price it is very good! goo.gl/maps/uHuLGqj2Pvx

      Awesome! We have a faint recollection of eating around Phloen Chit but I don't think it was at the market. Will pop it on the list for a visit next time. Sorry for my English might made you guys bit confused. I'm really not good with it. At last to find it just ask Pla Nin Pao(ปลานิลเผาเกลือ) hope I can help you more or less, enjoy Thai food 😀😀😀

      Thanks so much Yara, that's such a lovely thing to say! Especially as I feel like I'm wearing the same old gear every day!! 😆 I honestly have just packed the clothes I'd wear at home- I wear a lot of white and black so I can mix and match bottoms and tops. And then when I'm in Thailand I'll always pop to Platinum Mall and buy one or two cheap dresses to add to the mix. I find accessories and lipstick helpful to give an outfit a new look too 😊 And then just trainers and sandals which work with all my outfits 😄 It helps that we've been travelling a lot in hot countries so my gear is all pretty light! Hi mate! Aren't the night markets amazing in Asia?! Being from New Zealand we're totally envious of this kind of food culture as it simply doesn't exist in our part of the world either. We love how cheap it is and also how much variety there is. Plus it's so convenient too- if you don't feel like cooking within a few minutes you can get this massive feast of different foods! Ooooo please let us know how you go with the Khanom Thuay- we've never made it so I'm curious as to how hard it is! Good on ya! 😋 ❤️ Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment Plejade!
