Foy Thong is an ancient dessert in the Ayutthaya period. It was invented and made by a half Portuguese, half Japanese and Bengali Indian ancestry girl named Maria Guyomar de Pina. She immigrated from Japan because of religious persecution. She married a Greek man who was a nobleman in the Ayutthaya court named Constantine Phaulkon. He was a high-ranking nobleman who was very influential at that time. But when the king who supported him died and the dynasty changed. He was arrested and executed as a rebel. She became a prisoner. Later, she was pardoned and became a dessert chef in the palace. She adapted the Portuguese dessert into Foy Thong.😊

yep, when your culinary palate understand ginger flavors then you been eating for quite some time. also yes before the last 10 years i never understood what the deal with fried bananas was until i actually had some. half thai/lao by the way but basically american and to my surprise yep some reason friend bananas taste quite good just like mango sticky rice for some reason. when your taste buds are so experienced and diverse its amazing how such simple foods taste so much better when cooked differently. for example i know chicken intestines are very niche, but the saying (bullet still in the chamber) actually applies here. yeah, just gotta try em to put your taste buds to the test.
Agreed! Americans are so concerned with MSG and health effects. Asians have been consuming MSG for ages… and yet Americans have more health related issues and problems with obesity
The meat depends on the size of the prawn. Normally in Ayutthaya the size would be 2-3 prawns per KG. In Bangkok also have but the depend on the price. 4-6 prawns per KG will be cheaper, the meat will be less.
Here in BKK for the week and want to try the Thonburi market. They cook the prawns is an additional charge or was included with the price of the river prawns? Question-which stall did you buy the prawns from?
