Love it when Mark and Ying are home in Thailand. The people obviously are proud of your family. Speaks well to your reputable ambassadorship world wide that when you come home you are welcomed and appreciated by your country!
34:30 😍 The second plate enters the video! 💪 Love to see Mark enjoying the simple and best things in life. Blessings to everyone reading this and to Mark and his family. 🙏🏼☺️
YES! I’ve been eating and cooking fried rice since childhood. Ethnically I am Filipino so we would sometimes eat Fish and Fried Rice for “Breakfast”. The fried rice I am use to cooking is very simple but when you make it yourself the Fried Rice is absolutely the best. I really enjoy watching your videos from wherever you are in the world. I have mentioned in other comments you are truly the “Food Ambassador” of the planet. I mean that your palate has no boundaries and you seem to like foods from ALL parts of the world!!!
Nice to hear from you, thanks for sharing. I agree, I enjoy cooking fried rice at home, and using whatever you have, so many things can be added to fried rice!
Forty years ago ..Chinatown was my favorite place to eat in Bangkok and would take a boat there very often .. I walked around alot .. got lost and found Talad and a different food. I ate at the Crab rice food stall .. when I came back twenty years later I had cut my dreadlocks off .. a girl remembered me .. came over and stroked the back of my head .. what happened to your hair .. and I looked under the table and in my bag and she laughed, they all laughed as I looked for my dreadlocks and they gave me a wonderful plate. Forty years ago almost nobody had dreadlocks and people always stroked them. Now I didn't have them on my head but they remembered me and treated me kindly .. I was always alone and I'm tall so they remembered my face. And in Talad I found a place that sold acupuncture needles well done, sterilized and packed sterilized. It was alwaysinteresting to see people again who had been very young and now they were grown up with children. I love to watch you enjoy the food .. thanks alot!
Fried rice is definitely comfort food for me. When I was very little we had very close family friends from Thailand and the lady of the house used to babysit my brother and I and she made khao pad (Thai fried rice) often. (She did learn fast that Western kids do not care for squid in their rice for breakfast.) It's such a quick and simple dish that it's easy to take for granted. Many Thai restaurants in the US do not do it justice, if they serve it at all. But I found a small traditional Thai restaurant run by a very nice older couple on Church St. in Concord, North Carolina and they had proper khao pad. The flavors are completely different from other versions of fried rice. It was something I had not tasted since childhood and was a very sentimental moment. So... I understand it being comfort food 100%. Thanks Mark!
Glad to see you Mark! Thank you for sharing all the unique cultures and diverse foods. I've learned so much from you. Love from Kentucky, USA! Tell your family hello as well.
So happy that you covered Talad Noi area, is so underrated and only stone throw away from Yaowarat chinatown. We went to the talad noi crab fried rice last year, this place was on my radar after we went for a good meal in a restaurant called charmgang about 100 m away from the crab fried rice stall. That night i told my husband this stall is very special from the way Aunty plays with the wok and the aroma was just amazing. The next day we went to try aunty fried rice and imho it was better than Jay Fai. Im glad that you came and do like the food, the whole family running it deserves to be featured in your vlog and hopefully will even flourish more in the future
Thank you very much for sharing, awesome that's you've been here and enjoy Talad Noi as well. Charmgang is a fantastic restaurant as well, love the food there!
Rainy day eating videos are the best. Nothing like sitting underneath an umbrella and eating your favorite dish . Have some tea and a good book it’s a vibe.
Hi dear Mark & dear Ying🙋🏻♀️🥰 Thank you very so much for sharing the brilliant vids of your wonderful and stunning foodtours around the world! I must say, I always enjoy it a lot when you are back in Thailand! 🤩 I was born and raised in Switzerland and I have Swiss-Italian roots... Yet, South East Asian & International Food are my faves, yet Thai food is my absolute love to die for! 🫠💯👌🌶🌶🌶... I really love rice & rice noodles the best of all carbs!😉... Often I am eating fried rice already for breakfast... also cook my own Thai & Asian food... we are getting a nice range of many fresh, dry & conserved Asian foods here... happily... With all the best for both of you & for Micah😘Esther
I just went to Bangkok for the first time!! Too bad I couldn't watch this video before my trip... but the oyster pancakes at Nai Mong Hoi Thod near Chinatown, the braised pork hock and congee along Charoen Krung Road were also amazing! We also went to the Thonburi Fish Market, the seafood and stalls were also worth the long commute!!
HELLO MARK!!! I’VE LEARN HOW TO MAKE RICE WITH EGGS SINCE I WAS 10 Y.O. AND SINCE THEN IT IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE DISHES. I’M HAPPY TO SEE YOU AND YIN, ONLY THE TWO OF YOU MAKING A VIDEO, LIKE A DATING OUT FULL DAY. I LOVE THE SIMPLE, TASTY AND CONDIMENTLY FOOD OF THAILAND. THANKS FOR ANOTHER TOUCHY VIDEO MARK!!!
Grew up eating tons of fried rice!! Had a superb mouthwatery feeling watching the entire food tour. Evoked lots of emotion and nostalgia seeing the Crab Fried Rice Mark...:)
All of the place’s you stopped at had great looking food, everyone is different how they cook their dishes, the dishes have a lot of ingredients that would give the texture and tastes you’ll never forget.
@21:00 watch for that "old" guy with "old" customers lining up. Best food ever. We tried the dumplings and a couple of others as best we could. So much flavor and fun trying what you find out at home. Best channel on youtube, Mark and I wear my "If it isn't spicy" shirt all the time. You would be surprised at the following you have in NC, USA
As a Thai native, I have enjoyed homemade fried rice since childhood, and my mother’s recipe remains the best in my experience. The techniques for cooking fried rice can vary widely among families. Some may add dark soy sauce to enhance the color, while others might not. Similarly, some include tomatoes, while others avoid them to prevent the dish from becoming watery. The timing of adding eggs can also differ, with some adding them early and others later. Mastering the art of fried rice can take months or even years, as the dish, though seemingly simple, is quite intricate. I am delighted to welcome you back to Bangkok and look forward to exploring and tasting local dishes with you. I hope you didn’t catch cold after the filming. Cheers!
Thank you so much mark i love your chanel ill be in bangkok in september thank you for the heads up with the fried Rice i love it ...brother Kind regards Winston Galea.
Yes, Mark, we grew up with fried rice. We are indonesian a dutch. Mom made it so much that when my friend would come over, they loved it. To.where my mom started catering, making a business out of it. My brother wouldn't do it because his rice came out looking like mash potatoes lol.lol, so mom taught me when I was 5, starting with rice and then moving to other dishes. I love cooking to this day she still teaches me at soon to be 84
That Fried rice goes way back .....in the southern USA, we didn't call it fried rice ...but thats exactly what it was. We just did it a little different and used pieces of fatback with the egg. A rescue food when the pantry got low ....in the lonely deep south.
Mark: I was stationed in Bangkok in the Army in 1972. I also loved fried rice. Since I could not speak Thai well, I found out that I could order Khao Phat Gai because it sounded like cow pot guy. A plate was 25 cents then, and it was a full meal. I ate it often. I have tried to make fried rice at home, but it never comes close. Like you said, it is hard to make it good.
I think its all about the Wok hei flavour from the wok at very high temperatures Sir. As a fellow Soldier from a different country,Thank you for your service to your nation Sir.
@@MarkWiens Two other stories I can tell. I attended a Thai wedding for one of my friends-awesome. I also traveled the country on Army business with a Thai National, and he ordered the food on the street markets. We had some grey colored meat balls in soup which he said was Monkey balls after I ate it. He would never divulge the truth!
I love it so much while I was watching you. I was making nut crab fried rice with Seabass fried rice. It is excellent mark. Excellent thank you but you always got great places you go to God bless you and your family. God bless you.
Mark you have been all over the world and have given us so so many quality food/travel videos!!! I really can’t think of any that have not been fascinating! Thank you thank you!!!!
Lived there for years and you're right, for such a simple dish it was relatively difficult to find a good street version. Prik nam pla is essential as well. To this day khao pad remains one of my favourite dishes along with pad krapow. Sitting on the side of a busy soi under cover in the rain. Happy memories
Mark's presentation is much improved without the exaggerated reactions. Really enjoy the Thailand episodes as he is in his element and his enthusiasm is great to see!
i dont care where mark is n the world hes gonna enjoy his food i always wait after the first bite he closes his eyes head goes back i wait for the mmm❤
Mark i have been watching your channel for a few years and yes fried rice was one of my favourite food too as my mom cooks them since i was young and especially during lockdown where i had most of it! I'm really joyful to see you back in Bangkok bringing us more food Mark!
Great video Mark! I am going to replicate this tour the next time I tour friends thru Talad Noi. I think I will skip the fish Ma though.😊I also like how you add in some history of the neighbourhood. Perfect combo. Also thanks for all the location pins. Cheers
Mark ying and Micah are so wonderful...thank u for ur awesome videos on food travel to every nook and cranny in world... something I never be able to do ...wow...
Can’t wait to visit and try all the delicious food especially the chive dumplings and crab fried rice. Thank you for sharing it with the world. Love from Australia 🇦🇺
Hello Mark as a Turkish citizen i loved your Turkish Serious it was very wonderful and amazing. Thank you for visiting our beloved country again after 7 years. As a fan and a follower of your work is there possibility that you could one day shoot a Documentary about Youself like how many countries you been to, how many countries you plan to go to, have you ever had food poisining in your trips, what made you travel to countries to eat food, how don't you gain weight, and do you eat all the foods entirely that they serve you or do you just taste them like a Gourmet. I have so many questions to ask you i think many of your followers do also. I wish one day you would shoot a Documentary like that a small video sort of to answer all of our questions about Yourself.
Mark, you made my mouth watering. Talat Noi was my roaming ground when I was younger. Your video has shown me what I have missed for the past 30 years of delicious street food. Well done.👍👍
Last April I was in Bangkok for a family holiday, with two kids. We absolutely loved seeing the canals, the old buildings, the food, all of the things that this video highlights! We were able to do a guided tour with friend of the channel Bangkok Vanguards, and it was exceptional! 100% recommend if you are going to Thailand and like me were totally overwhelmed! Can't wait to get back some day.
I love your videos from Thailand Mark, as Thailand is one of my favorite places on earth. I didnt know that it is called Talad Noi, but I have been there several times, in the times before internet, where I went to the GPO to of Charoen Krung to get letters from my family and friends.
I like everything about Thailand. The food, the country, the people, the religion and the general atmosphere. Still, I coulndt live here, as it gets so hot and humid and almost unbearable. I was in Bangkok in March, and it was so hot, that it was really uncomfortable and unhealthy. And it got even worse afterwards.
I love crab fried rice very much and now I am 56 years old still my favorite. I am Thai but living in NYC for almost 30 years, I’d like to thank you Mark for showing the world about Thai food and other food around the world, and I love his genuine, humble personality and all. 👍😻
these humble and down to earth thailand videos are my fav mark videos :) the rain just made it so cozy and comforting too! the food looked amazing in that part of town :D this make me want to live in thailand.
Mark thank you for the rainy video 😬 I didn’t see Mika but Ying as beautiful as always ( sorry if I missed spelled name ) ..as always I loved the video especially the yummy food 🤤 and City of course..🙏🏼 hope y’all don’t get sick 🤧👍🏼 thanks again my friend! ❤✌🏼
I totally agree, it is hard to get a good plate of fried rice. When I lived in Singapore I would get a great fried rice at my school, it was really cheap and so delicious with huge prawns in it.
our Philippine -chinese version of the curry puff is called cuchay Ah- a hokkien filipino puffpastry similar to the curry puff but with garlic chives tofu and pork filling... chinese+thai food is very familiar to us Fil-chi minus the chillie... Hoi tod is also popular with us as Hokkien calls itb Owa Chien (Oyster Fry)... fried rice and hokkiem mi is also popular as with wanton noodles
Mark I love all your videos. I love Thai food a great deal,so I didn't want to miss this video. Yes i love Thai fry rice and I can eat it everyday. I think I am going to try and make some Thai dishes for dinner this week coming. I love the Thai seafood soups as well. It was nice to see your wife with you at the table as well.
Hi Mark I’m a big fan of you Love many clips ❤❤ The pictures are so nice. Could you please tell me what’s camera you use…what’s brand and spec of them 🙏🏻

Looks so good! I love Thai food
Loved fried rice growing up as well. Ultimate comfort food, loved the look of the crab fried rice ❤
i love your presentation
Outstanding Mark!!! Love this one.
Love it when it comes to the OG Mark video about Thai street food!!
I totally agree, it is hard to get a good plate of fried rice. When I lived in Singapore I would get a great fried rice at my school, it was really cheap and so delicious with huge prawns in it.
This is good food tour, will try to have them on my next BKK trip..I love the old area of bkk
our Philippine -chinese version of the curry puff is called cuchay Ah- a hokkien filipino puffpastry similar to the curry puff but with garlic chives tofu and pork filling... chinese+thai food is very familiar to us Fil-chi minus the chillie...
