Funny thing, Admin sent the email about him telling the owner what not to do, and the owner said to do it anyway. Not Soho fault, the car was fine for over a year on a safe tune. It's the owner's fault for wanting to go beyond the tuners recommendation.
Your timeline has errors in it, it was fine when it was stock engine for over a year. This engine in this video had issues immediately.

@@admintuningyeah so why would you drive it an hour and a half..🤡🤡🤡
The internet loves a good drama but the blame lies with ol griffy. He obviously didn’t break it in properly, second he’s running stock exhaust headers?! Third, he pushed the envelope to chase a number and clout.
Just my two cents. I think everyone takes some blame here. They showed the runner that was used and I have to say then shits is small af. If the cylinder can’t properly and efficiently extract the exhaust it will cause high internal temps and if you run a more aggressive timing it will not help the cause which in turn showed the head gasket being the week point before real detonation happened and why the customer would even drive it after it was found out the head was lifted.
The engine was going to fail regardless of any turbo kit or any tune, the only blame here is how bad soho is at building motors. The pistons were smacking the hg in several cylinders, would have failed with no boost.
@@andrewwentworth2860 so soho released a new video. I honestly think this is the car owners fault
It’s the owners fault for deliberately going against the tuners advise.
If soho built shitty engines they wouldn’t have multiple shop and customer owned 1000hp+ engines that are reliable.

After watching this and Soho response. I have to side with SOHO. I dont think Admin did anything wrong either. The client wanted what he wanted. He drove a car with a damaged engine, he disregarded the number one rule. He wanted a certain number and everything else be damned. A built motor does not mean you can do whatever you want. You still have to be responsible with your stuff. Sucks for all parties involved though.
I think admin should’ve stopped tuning at the 850 mark like he even suggested in the email, regardless of what the owner wanted. With that being said I don’t think admin should be blamed for this, ultimately he was doing what the griffen asked of him
You gonna side with soho lol a 25k motor with some bunk ass head gaskets that wouldn’t ended up fucking the motor off anyways later down the line from the over hand in the cylinder walls? Not to mention the boof ass rtb all under the gasket? You think if the motor was fucked off because of these shit gaskets that they would’ve gave him another motor because of it? Nope would’ve posted a vid saying it’s everyone else’s fault but their 25k motor that looks like it was assembled in tj
Well obviously the owner doesn't know about modding, specifications, and how to heed someone's warning... "with great power comes great responsibility" he didn't watch Spider-Man lol

Yep, owner cut some corners and just said I want more POWER when it hasn't outputting the 1000hp he wanted. It takes much more than a built block and big turbo to get there realiably.

Folks just love blowing OEM blocks. Don't care how much it can handle. Your turbo kit money could have went to a minimum of a forged bottom end.
Do it right the first time.
@@pushinP87 my point exactly, but on a 370Z decent boost is okay! But I’ve always said run built before boost so I highly agree with you.
Do the oem head gaskets not hold up at high boost like that? Also I remember MotoIQs VHR build used titan valves since they were 1mm larger and were sodium filled, was there any consideration for that? Sucks the installation was done so poorly rip motor
Stock head gasket does not. Current I am helping a friend build a car that is using tkm mini hoops with an MLS gasket. This combo doesn't have the annoyance of running a copper hg and will hopefully allow high power applications. We will know more later this year.
It feels like everyone was at fault but no one wants to admit fault. Obviously hindsight is 20/20 but it never occurred to Soho, Admin or the owner that the stock headers were way too small for 1000+ whp. Also, it’s never a good idea to just keep throwing boost/timing when a motor is already maxing out.
This right here
You're the man, and after meeting you in person I can tell you don't dwell on drama. It's unfortunate you have to face these accusations.
It sucks for you, but I feel exceptionally bad for the car owner, and I hope he returns to being tuned by you with a better-built engine.
Wait so it was blowing coolant all over the engine and that was the green light for starting to turn up the boost? Why would you crank up the boost if there is such and obvious problem with the motor? Sus. Seeing the other video now, that engine what heavy cleaned before making this video, and you avoid showing all of head, the heavy pitting on the exhaust head of cylinder 5 can't be cleaned up and it makes sense that the oem head would show heat damage more than a forged and treated piston head.
I never said that was a green light, lol. We also didn't 'avoid' showing the head, this video was made to debunk all claims of this failure being a detonation related/aggressive tune related failure, which the pistons and bearings clearly show.
What ive gotten from this video is it was just a head gasket failure and if he didnt drive it home after it blew he would have been fine? Am I missing something? Because all the bearing damage seems so minimal that like you said couldnt have been detonation.
The best part of this is that SOHO sells a “vq trademarked” engine package as a head lift solution but can’t follow the head gasket manufacturer’s instructions for a torque procedure. I’ve seen plenty of motors with pre-det crack a ringland before they even come close to lifting the head. Very unfortunate that soho tried to cover their ass the way they did.

As a man your reputation is important and must be protected at all cost. In the future I would keep all tuning log files. If anyone needs a detonation monitor hit me up. Where is the knock strength log from the dyno runs? Your not logging Exhaust gas temperature or back pressure two critical parameters for a highly stressed engine. Also I would like to see the dyno graphs as these will provide evidence of what is going on. If there are issues before power runs none should have not been made. Why was the go ahead given?
I have just watched SOHO and I think your knock strength logs and dyno pulls are critical pieces of evidence. You can't refute too much heat claim as you have no back pressure or exhaust temperature parameters. I am not sure if water temperature would be a good reflection of excessive heat (cylinder head temperatures). I am thinking at these power levels you should not attempt a calibration without these parameters. At these power levels and cost a detonation monitor is a must after car leaves the tuner.
Lol. If any of that was valid it would have showed on the pistons. There’s no sign of detonation on the pistons at all which means none of that occurred. Your wording and sentence structure and phrasing of “knock strength logs” shows your ignorance more than anything else.
@@admintuning Those who articulate well are not necessarily the smartest. I am not going to get into personal attacks. In court personal attacks do not matter. The nissan motor has a knock sensors on each bank. If there is or was a tendency to detonate the logs would have revealed this. If back pressure was the issue then the torque at higher rpm would be quickly dropping off. In my ignorance all I am saying is that with enough parameters it is easier to make a more objective conclusion. What do you think space x it does when the rocket blows up?
Can you phrase what you did with the knock sensitivity and intake air temperatures verse ignition timing properly? "It is not picking up a ton". 🚩🚩🚩. Where are the knock logs?
Having done some research it seems you may be right about the lack of detonation. ua-cam.com/video/-7cM5UcJO6o/v-deo.html
I hate seeing this shit go down. From the SOHO video, they said if you cram more air into the engine than the engine can push out, clearly you’re going to have issues. Moncef, did Griff tell you to go ahead and push more power despite knowing that might be a possible issue? Or am I wrong here?
Thanks for watching both videos, unfortunately both of their videos had a lot of incorrect information in them to help steer the viewer a certain direction. If your comment, and their assessments were true, there would be evidence of detonation on the pistons or deformation of the bearings which there was not.
@@admintuning what about the damage shown on the cylinder wall, it looks like damage from detonation. Soho shows it around the 19:48 mark in their most recent video, or is that fabricated? I’ve watched all three videos from start to finish and still trying to make sense of all this, at this point I feel like everyone is to blame here. I 100% agree that soho should’ve handled the situation differently, but I don’t feel that they’re solely responsible.
Which is a shame because the content for this build would’ve been 🔥
@@JoeyAG92 No, that is not damage from detonation. Some foreign material fell into the cylinder early on, some spark plug porcelain if I remember correctly. If it truly was damage from detonation, there would be other signs, that I have already mentioned in my previous comments and this video.
@@admintuning I’d imagine that the porcelain would’ve been more likely to damage the dome of the cylinder head, as well as the head of the piston more so than the cylinder wall itself. I am speculating here I will admit though. Was the porcelain ever extracted from the cylinder?
@@JoeyAG92 we do not have any information on that. But like I had mentioned before, if it truly was damage from detonation, there would be other signs pointing at that being the cause. This has been corroborated by the machine shop that tore the engine down, along with other engine builders/machine shops that I tune engines for.
Dynosty head gasket with stainless steel oringed head and CSS block or maybe LA sleeves amphibious sleeves would be the best options under 1100 horsepower. All copper head gaskets and hoops must always be retorqued.
I haven't seen LA sleeves on a VQ yet, so I'd be interested to see how they do. The Dynosty head gasket has held multiple CSS type builds together at 900whp+ tuned by me.
@@admintuning from what I’ve seen, the Darton MID sleeves require too much material to be removed from an already flex prone VQ block. I’ve seen many VR38 guys using the LA dry ductile iron sleeves with high horsepower setups with good success along with Ciccio fire rings. The LA amphibious sleeve has a fully supported deck but only removes the factory sleeve and small portion of the upper sleeve support and is a press fit installation just as with the VR38 ductile iron sleeves, there’s no introduced weakness from completely removing the sleeve and support and there’s no risk of sinking because the upper portion of the sleeve sits on the remaining sleeve support. I was thinking of having my block sleeved with Darton MID but was somewhat skeptical because of all the issues that I’ve previously heard about. I’ve only recently discovered the amphibious sleeves because I’ve never seen them advertised by retailers, I have a spare vq37 block that I’m getting ready to send out to them.
Unfortunate. We all know when things go bad no one wants to take the blame.
How do you retorque a gasket that would void a $24,000 warranty from pulling it apart to do what the HG manufacturer said lol do they expect you to heat cycle it and send it back for a retorque 😂😂😂
13 mins in, I’m just curious how do you go in and re torque the head gaskets after running it at operating temp? Do you have to disassemble and tighten the bolts back down? Interesting.
Correct, with the vq it sucks because you have to disassemble the timing cover to do it but it needs to be done.
@@andrewwentworth2860 right, but what has to be done has to be done. Especially for a 20k motor.
@@tristanoliver2911 literally take it apart to where you can get back to the head studs and retorque them to spec and put it back together. That's it.
You know what’s so insane. I was trying to figure out VQ lift and I came to this conclusion, I asked myself “well if vq lift is a thing, then why not run the car for awhile, then re torque the head gasket since u know its going to lift” I’m not a genius but I’m surprised I has this thought
If I’m not mistaken the manufacturer of the head gasket specializes in top fuel drag applications which explains the use of copper head gaskets and fuel hoops which require machining to the head (in this case sohos hb package). The top fuel engines were designed to be easily disassembled so it’s no problem for them. For a vq, it’s highly undesirable as the timing cover and cams have to come out.

Shame it had to come to this, as always there are plenty of variables. But signs of coolant issues are a tale tale sign something is up and not up to snuff. Esp with copper gaskets, usage of hylomar and bore roundness/bore trueness and not carefully blueprinting gaskets when boring/honing. Lot could of been resolved as no "race" engine is guaranteed, but a good builder will stand by their product and not just blame others and leave the owner stranded. Pre-ignition and detonation are completely different. 30 years of turbo engines, I've broke many ring lands early on. Some show no other sign than just a stacked ring land. On your end. I heard the whole thing loud and clear.
Clean your ears mate
Dammm and to think I was saving for a motor from them…..
Oh hell no. Get a Mazworx stage 3. $17k. I have one in my TT 370Z. 850whp on E85 and meth injection for the past 2.5 years literally 0 issues.
@@EatMyPropwash they don’t make them for 370zs
@@EatMyPropwash where do you get a mazworx engine??
@@EatMyPropwash was that just the block ? Or a whole build ?
@@tristanoliver2911 someone on specialty Zs page has one and it made over 1k whp.
All said and done the customer probably could have bought a GTR with all the $ he's dumped into this car.
Remember that guys.
This nightmare situation is probably going to end up with the customer fu*ked over and no one takes accountability
It definitely sucks to see, this video was mainly illustrating the fact that this is not a detonation/tuning related failure.

Thank Moncief
I know you have always stood by your work
So unprofessional of them to blame. Especially with such an expensive product and inproper assembly on their end. They just ruined their entire reputation just to save a few thousand instead of reassembling it for him. What an L for such a big company.
What company if you don’t mind ?

Damn… what a shame
disgusting that they blame tuning..... you spend 30K on an engine to get that bs. I actually considered sending my longblock to them.
@sohomotorsports take notes, what a garbage install 🤦♂️
Soho = scammers damn…
Sad how they couldn’t just simply help him fix it, to then gain more customers and traction, how have we not seen 1 video of the $25k VQ engine ripping the streets ?
Sheesh why go out like this
didn’t knew andrew tate brother tune gtr’s

damn I need to go buy food rn and sit down to watch this.
Don’t forget sohos response vid to this.
@@paulslauser8844 I’m on s3 already 😂
Is a Oil pump faliure
This is def an unfortunate event to see a “ major” shop not trying to fix there mistake, but instead transfer the blame.
It's not 100% clear who's mistake it is and they absolutely did make an offer towards making it right according to the other vids. They're both great shops, let's hope they get it worked out.
@@tksperformance8789 there is more to that offer, unfortunately it's not what everyone is hoping to hear.
Miguel is a good friend of mine. Shame everything happened the way it did.
Soho sold on this one dam
Nah, this dude definitely runs the cars too rich. I burned through 5 head gaskets and have oil on my spark plugs.. bought new everything and got a diagnostic, and they couldn't find any internal problems. The only thing that was done was a tune
Made up comment from a fake account. Nice 😍
@AdminTuning not fake and funny enough I asked you to check the numbers to make sure the car is running good and you insisted it wasn't you. Got emails to prove it
@@rawcircoking What’s your email? Running a car rich doesn’t eat head gaskets, and replacing 5 of them is a very time consuming process, so your comment definitely seems fabricated.
@AdminTuning why would I lie??
Your comment is sus , definitely one of their workers …
Broooooo where you been! I want an email tune.
Send me an email. Moncef.faik@gmail.com
He did y’all wrong bro we need you to keep boosting VQ’S PLEASE 😢❤
