Gutentag, it's Tyler from MKM! Thanks to TFB for this video from IWA, and I'm happy to answer a few questions. 1) You can do it cheap, or you can do it right. The chassis includes a complete custom OEM unit from Timney in the sell price, as well as a 20moa rail. There are around 30 precision linkage components inside, so this is quite a bit more complex than your standard $1200-$1600 chassis and includes some crucial components mentioned previously. 2) Remington 700 SA, LA, and Tikka T3, fits right AND left handed actions interchangeably. Safety is also relocated to the front of the trigger guard with ambidextrous paddles, which is not the cheapest route, but far more ergonomic than the safety under your ear. 3) Bolt extension for Rem 700 is available and will bring the bolt handle forward several inches. We will be manufacturing a swept forward bolt handle for the Tikkas since they are dovetailed in. Aesthetically, I prefer the stock bolt knobs and I do not treat this as a rifle for rapid followups-although it is maybe a second slower than a typical bolt gun for the average user. 4) There will be some cool stuff coming in the next few years-think straight pulls, actions with the bolt knob at the front of the bolt, etc. A modular platform for popular existing actions is the first step to create something awesome without incredible investment. 5) We can build custom rifles as desired-the possibilities are endless so price varies widely. Only the action footprints are set in stone to work with the chassis.
I’ve been convincing myself for the past year that I need a precision bolt action. Y’all have a great idea here! I’ll definitely be adding this chassis system to the list of options I’ll be choosing from.
Thank you for these amazing products man, I will definitely buy your product. I'm looking forward to being able to purchase chassis for my Tikka super varmint in 300 win mag!
Mk machining is a fantastic company they custom made me scope caps and a anti reflection device ARD in green and tan for like 100 bucks easy af in install and tough as shit saving up for their chassis
A Bullpup Chassis I gotta say is a home run, but $2K is quite steep although MK matching makes great products. After seeing this I bet every CNC marching company will come out with there version soon enough, the Desert-Tech SRS platform is one of my favorite Bullpup platforms!
I'm sure it was completely unintentional but when you were asking about a complete rifle package, it wasn't being fully conveyed that chassis manufacturers (most) do not sell firearms. So James, you intention was to get to the point and you wanted a complete package cost but since they cannot legally "sell" you the firearm, or firearms, he was giving you a round about quote. He did say that the 2k was you shipping your rifle or action barrel etc and they install the chassis and timney trigger for that cost. Just my humble opinion, and you know what they say about that 😂- God bless
When he said 2,000 I enjoyed about 30 seconds of thinking about all the fun I was going to have owning this. Then, James ruined the fantasy with a follow up clarification question. Damn it.
So savage, howa/vanguard and ruger actions in the future or no? Lol well never mind I hadn't heard that you wanted $2000 for a chasis. I can literally build a whole custom rifle in a normal chasis for this. So I take it back.
It includes a top of the line trigger in there, so not that expensive. Ultimately, not everything is meant to be affordable, not all products are meant for everyone.
@Lucas Tonoli so your telling me your gonna try and justify this aluminum chasis that cost more than my hnt26 chasis because it has a top of the line trigger in it and some things just cost that much. Even James fucking looked like he was gonna die when the dude said that. You can literally get the same top of the line trigger for $300. Yea not everything is cheap but how the hell you gonna claim this cost more than a mdt, xlr, sharp Brothers because it has a $300 timney in it. I've used several mk machine products and he makes good stuff but holly shit he's shooting for the fence on this one.
The only bullpup I have ever shot and carried was a Steyr Aug with a hard mounted and qualified with it. It was a slung system and timed reloads were a bitch. Then again, being made to lay on your belly for the first few shots at 100 in desert sand on the summer sucked. On the bright side, I did well enough over the kids that got the m4 platform, that I became the outside perimeter DMR for long shot security on warrant raids of dope houses.
There is a certain perceived awkwardness with the bullpup configuration, but no denying the superior geometry of the chamber being closer to the center of body mass. The heart. Ignition closest to the still point. Instead of holding everything way out in front of your face. I look forward to seeing someone proving this concept across the course offhand at 200. Or across the valley...
Interesting, I can't think of any other precision bullpups like this. Like James's complaint, I wish there was a standard complete rifle that could be advertised.
It's a great idea, but it looks like the bolt handle needs some kind of forward extension. It just seems really awkward trying to run it right in front of your shoulder.
Why not add a longer grip on the bolt that comes forward? EDIT: They apparently got an extended handle but they don't add it to show it. Time schedules are a b****.
Many people despise bullpups. I'm not one of them. I know many of the ergonomic issues they talk of are just made up and bullpups are mostly just as easy to operate than standard config weapons. But to operate a charging lever there is just stupid. Do you want to make a bullpup bolt action? Make an effort and make it STRAIGHT PULL with the lever placed FORWARD.
My issue with the design is I'm a big guy in the chest and shoulders so a bull pup is just uncomfortable because I feel squished. I'm the guy who gets the longest lop and adds to it. My Bergara HMR and Savage mk2 in a Boyds Pro Varmint stock are all 14.5" lop which is quite long.
"Make an effort and make it STRAIGHT PULL with the lever placed FORWARD." They are working on that atm apparently. It probably takes more time than just a chassis. "But to operate a charging lever there is just stupid. " The lever could be displaced forward to make it a bit more comfortable, they offer that service already.
Consider it has probably 8x the parts of a typical chassis (precise linkage system), a custom Timney trigger included, and a 20moa rail, and it is not so absurd. Standard chassis can easily run $1500+, and a DT chassis is over $3000 which is the only thing comparable.
If you've never shot a $3000 BULLPUP bolt-action precision rifle (and probably never will), go ahead and hit that Like button.
I have been fortunate to have had a few shots behind a Desert Tech. It was an amazing rig. Just far out of my financial realm.
One of the prototype .50bmg rifles I fired approximately 25years ago was a bolt action Bullpup.
The chassis is pretty nice though. I was able to tune my trigger down to 7oz in this chassis
Chat is out of control ! Lol
Bro is $3000 without the scope? 😂😂
"....That's for the chassis". We all felt that.
Tyler seems like a no bullshit kind of guy. Surprised he got the job lol
Tyler, (my boss) is the owner of MkM
@@stridor0606 get back to work!
Those Germans sure know how to gas.... their rifles and properly tune them.... what?
OH GOD THAT’S DARK
Yes, gas their bolt actions. The rifles at least will work fine after that.
@Xenophon well correct it didn't apply to this rifle, go apply it to HK
The real secret is in the ovens. You know the ones.......they use them to heat treat the bolts and receivers.

ETA on the long action chassis, also will it fit the 700 300WM 5r?
Love MK Machining, they make a lot of great precision accessories. Their scope level is one of the best.

Thanks man, love hearing the support.
They need to make a composite version for around $600.
A bolt handle that's bent forward like on the MAS-36 would improve ergonomics with this chassis.
Just not in that MAS-36 caliber. I haven't found ammo in 3 years.
Oh sweet !
We have a modified extended bolt handle to make this more ergo…

Gucci as fuck.
Love mk machining. They make great grips. I've been seeing their ig posts about the bullpup chassis. Great to see them featured here.
Sometimes I feel like the only Bullpup fan. Glad to see I’m not alone. I know how old the concept is, but I still feel like they are the future
I’d like that for hunting. No need for folding stock. Especially suppressed hunting.
This would be pretty interesting with a savage impulse action (and an improved barrel)
"Three grand to Shah of Iran"
I love this 🤣
This looks like a poor man's Desert Tech SRS and I love it
I'm sure there are about 5 thousand different ways that can design the bolt handle to make it for rapid follow up.
I have a fix: semi-auto.
That’s what’s up! I don’t like bull pup semi auto but shit that bolt action looks LEGIT !

I didn't catch that the optic wasn't mounted to the receiver... I guess that's where a lot of the money goes.

I would love to see this with a short barreled 300 BLK and a folding stock
Exactly Same with ú !
Folding stock on a bullpup with nearly no stock (like 2-3 inches before you hit components that can't be bent/folded) makes no sense whatsoever.
onkly thing yo ucould so is cut the barrel back and the chassis. but are you willing to do that with a 2k chassis?
2k for a chassis system? Hell nah
Over priced
