GoPro Games 2024 gave us nearly a full weekend of epic weather, fantastic flows, and plenty of good times. Always a dope week to be back in Vail enjoying the food, events, and everything in between.
The games were a great opportunity to put the Epix Pro 2 from Garmin to test and see it's capabilities. Getting to try out the awesome features from simply tracking the race distances, metrics, to even checking the radar when the weather took a turn. Not only was all the data accurate, but all the usage over the weekend and my battery barely took a bump. It definitely didn't disappoint, and I am looking forward to seeing what more the watch can do!

In the sport of kayaking, the longer you do it the more you hear about or are affected by tragedy on the river. I am so sorry for your loss, but at the same time so happy to see you continue to push the sport and not give up. It's what Bren would have wanted, Rest in peace

Yeah, I would up your step goal. Too funny. Funny you used an old boat. I would think if you didn't have want you needed, you could just walk into any store that has Jackson kayaks and borrow one. 😜 Nice job and congrats to the rest of the family. Thanks for taking us along.

Trust me your never too old. I helped a woman who was in he 60-70's empty her boat yesterday. She just learned to roll last week. Just find a local club and join. There are tons of you live in southeast.

I live in Norway. Lots of rivers, but its a bit far away to get enough time in the water to get a grip on it.
So I think I`ll stick to sea kayak surfing and rock hopping. Thats also fun 🙂
@@rogeru73 Norway is the best place in the world for whitewater kayaking! You have to get your self down the Sjoa, its got everything from class II to class V.

Fun to watch. I'll never forget when Eric was competing in the short lived "Gorge Games" on the Upper White Salmon I saw Dane in a play pen in diapers, lol. So much fun to follow his career and watch his videos. Are we gonna get some Cali footage this year?

Hey Dane, any chance you can film you and your dad kayaking together, I watched your dad win the freestyle pre worlds in 2000 and then the worlds in 2001 in Sort in the Pyrenees, be good to see if he still has it.
what is the last one yall were doing? it was like a team race with defence? and how does the defence win or do they even win? what do i look up to learn more?
It’s called the 8 Ball race, basically a normally head to head, but there are other paddlers trying to run block and stop you from moving downstream.
"Not going to check because ignorance is bliss!" Hahahahaha! Is there anyone who has done much kayaking and has not jumped into a boat that has been sitting around unused for awhile without looing to see what spiders, mousie poo, packrat nests and other accumulated questionable stuff is in it? Makes me laugh because that's absolutely something I've done many times.
I'm always amazed at people who can do playboat tricks one after the other and have it all look good. I would wipe out on the first attempted flip. Just so fun to watch people do it so easily, and even in a hole like that with it's weird undercurrents. It's like watching really good gymnasts going through a really challenging floor routine. I've done a lot of paddling, but the best I can do is an ender. Kinda worthless because I can also stand a boat on it's tail in slack water too. When you know what it takes, it makes it all the more exciting to watch. There are obviously some very good kayakers out in that hole. Definitely a cut above.
Was good to see better levels. I remember that last year, after the games, it turned into more of a hike than a paddle, and it was ugly low even for the games. They were putting big plywood boards in the river in hopes of making the pour overs deep enough to get through.
Probably not the right place to say it, especially since he never that I know of was at the Rocky Mountain Games, but I still miss Bren.
