  • Middle kings is about as all time a run can get. You gotta be willing to put in the work to get there but it’s one of the most epic places that’s out there. Not only is the hike one of the most amazing places I have been to, but then the river itself is also all time. After almost 2 weeks of constantly checking the flow, we finally committed, and it was another epic lap!

    "Not a lot of people run this one" Jesus Christ I can see why. That's one of the most brutal lines I've seen. Also, just one of the most gorgeous areas I've seen.

    I can remember being in the Upper Gualey River 15yrs ago watching you paddle as a young boy. You were on the river and absolutely owning it at a very young age. Our guide actually made the comment you were too young to be on the river by yourself!!!! Boy was he completely freaking wrong!!!

    Sooo good. Beautiful scenery and amazing paddling and great commentary. I most liked the shots where you are scouting and pan the cam down a stout rapid set and then Isaac comes into view with a WTF look on his face. Your films are really good.

    That's one of the most beautiful runs I've seen on anyone's videos. Thanks for trickling out your short Cali season as Winter sets in. Pray for snow.
    Meant to ask, did Hull get some video of you running some UMK stouts? I liked the two videos Jackson and Ferraro got of Upper Cherry, especially Graceland. Those are good to watch for folks who liked this.

    That just looks like such a fun run! Those boulder gardens and such blue water, wow!
    And those views are just spectacular!
    But yes, that's quite the hike in to get to paddle all of that!
    Just one expression that I didn't hear before (non native English speaker here): What's a "wheelchair" on the river?

    Dude,been waiting for this one.Got in there in 2010 at similar flows.Brought back so many memories!Recognized so many features that I have forgot because most vids are at higher flows and like you said it’s way different.We got passed by Stokesbury and Korbulic on their one day,we were on day 4…You gonna do a one day record time next year?I think you could go sub 17 hours but I’m not sure if the record is to the confluence or to the takeout of garlic.Anyway you could do it if conditions are right.If they have a good snow year and you could get a lap to know the lines,I’m sure you could do a one day.

      @@yetigonecrazy They passed us a few rapids above the big bad Beaver.We tried to just jump in behind and follow there lines as they came by but we only lasted 1 rapid.When we got out to portage the beaver,we could see them,already 3-4 rapids below.

    Dane, I have watched a ton of your videos and a couple questions always arise. First is, you have been doing this for a while so I have no doubt about your skillset. Your built in safety checks are commendable and I also want to commend you on how you are always considering the skillset of the guys you bring with you. Great job looking out for everyone. I really enjoy watching your videos, but leaving your POV portions aside, I truly enjoy catching glimpses of how amazing the scenery you get to see.
    My questions are simple and easy to respond to.
    First, how do you not sustain injuries to your back?
    I have only ridden a kayak a couple of times and both times were on a very calm river. So I have no idea what types of impact you endure going over all of the rocks and drops.
    Second, What additional items are in your custom kayak compared to a boat you get at one of the sporting good stores? For instance, are the seats manufactured differently or installed with a suspension that absorbs impacts?
    Just a guy who has a really bad back and no clue about professional kayaking.

    • @NargaaaFFA
      @NargaaaFFA 2 роки тому

      most of those drop are pretty small and not really hurting your back , to keep your back nice you have to always be in a forwad positions when you hit a drop , and of course doing some workout to keep it nice. Whitewater kayaks have not any kind of suspensions in it , a normal seat with some adjustable backband , footrest , nothing fancy to keep it "light".

    • @EH-nw6bu
      @EH-nw6bu 2 роки тому

      @@NargaaaFFA Thanks for the information. I have a R&D department and was curious. We are constantly trying to revise or develop better technologies to improve existing systems to ensure peoples safety and comfort. My son does fishing from a Kayak and we have developed a couple addons that make it easier for him to fish and video at the same time.
      The guys in my R&D are always looking for new projects so I was hoping to get information from professional kayak riders. I told them to run with it and see what they can develop.

    I have seen a number of videos on running the Middle Kings, and none of them ever show anything of the 10-mile or so stretch between Cartridge Creek and Tehipite Valley. Is that because there is no significant whitewater in that section? How long did it take you to cover that section?
