Deathcore is an acquired taste. Early on my my metal journey, I couldn't listen to this kind of music. But in the past 5 years or so, I've grown to love it.
The first deathcore band I liked was Suicide Silence. But I stopped listening for a while then discovered A Night In Texas and Aversions Crown. I instantly loved both of them. But after a while I couldn't listen to either. But honestly just recently, when STP released Demolisher, I fuckin fell in love with deathcore. Now Im exploring more and more and going back to these bands and Ive found an absolute love for deathcore. Lorna Shore and Infant Annihilator are currently apart of my top 5. Also exploring more TAIM.
The heaviest thing I was listening to during freshman year was slipknot or pantera, then my friend showed me A Job for A Cowboy and suicide silence. I still thank till this day for showing me some of the greatest bands
Yess for real. Couldn't stand deathcore. But within past year or 2 I've gotten. Into it
Forever Marked I could stand it but I could never listen to it every hour of the day, but now I listen to it every damn day lmao
To be fair, most people don’t just jump in to deathcore. Gotta ease into it over time haha
lol i remember listening to my first infant annihilator song, whatever the opposite of cleansed is, that's what happened to my fucking ears.
@@K3nseiii Defiled?
@@djomla9999 There we go haha
It’s all about the energy.
K3nseiii yeah same at first I was literally just like what in the Fuck is this. Now, they’re new album is probably my favorite deathcore album.
He just needs to listen to more deathcore, gotta get that guy more into heavier music lol
I mean he also said Misery Signals sounded generic so yeah I kinda just don’t listen to the guy lol
A bit of backstory: He was into metal before me when we were kids actually but he's been in the EDM scene for a long time and now he's really getting back into metal, a big help cause of this channel actually. So I think I need to keep showing him deathcore lol. And oh yeah he's just straight up wrong about Misery Signals lmao but I like hearing him out still, but with enough time he's going to be repping merch of all these bands hahaha.
METALBIRB hahaha no doubt, he just needs to jam more and more bands eventually he will fall right into place
Exactly what I was about to say.
@@METALBIRB EDM? show him Northlane - Eclipse lol
I disagree with what he said , I could understand every word with the lyrics on screen.... Honestly
Come on, as much as i love Tom and the band the "prison planet..." part at 3:33 is incomprehensible even with the lyrics on screen haha but i love it, is just pure filth!
you know that is a "skill" that you have to hone. When I started with metal I couldn't understand Heaven Shall Burn lyrics at all, now they are the easiest thing on earth to me.
This channel has really helped broaden my taste in metal, particularly in deathcore. Keep it up METALBRO! We’ll get there together.
Aidan Vosooghi love to hear it! I give everything I listen to a fair chance, I just haven’t found the deathcore song that’s going to make me a fan of the genre yet! We’ll keep trying lol!
Dead Royalty Productions lol I feel you and definitely appreciate your honesty in these reactions! part of what keeps this channel fresh
Idk what’s wrong with me, but I can never understand lyrics. 😂 even with pop or slow songs it’s very hard for me to understand lyrics. So I just focus on the way the music sounds with the singing and not what their saying exactly. Lol
Same lol, I'm not a lyric guy that's why I talk about music composition and other things on the channel haha
Yep same here. I literally have to read lyrics and learn how to sing a song before i can understand it. At first few listens im all about how it sounds and not what its saying.
Ryan McGill yeah the only songs I know the lyrics to are ones that I’ve read what the lyrics were, or ones where I’ve literally known the song for like years upon years.
5:01 is me at work on the spotify shuffle
Hot damn this song was fire. I'm glad to hear tom barber bringing some of his lorna shore vibes to Chelsea grin. Also that pink hat is dope I'd totally wear it!
Tom is a God I been a fan of this band since there first e.p to now! I loved them with Alex, and love them even more with Tom is Range is so underrated.
I really like this song, particulary the vocals. It's been on repeat the whole weekend.
2:00 If only more people had the attitude towards "different" music that metalbro has. Great guy.
Btw. I am sure that "Breakdown of Sanity" coule be a gateway band for metalbro to more deathcory stuff. They are one of my "To go to" Gym bands. I'd suggest "Back to Zero" from their last record Coexistence which features Ryo from Crystal Lake.
Chaz Hartwayne I appreciate you man! Not everyone is gonna like everything but at least give it a fair chance! And just because you don’t like something it doesn’t make it “bad”, it just doesn’t align with your personal tastes.
Cheers!
Naw he's right, Tom Barber's lyrics are completely unintelligible at times, and that is by design. I like it at least. Very talented
I like to think both your necklaces form a heart and when connected, you become a magical girl.
I'm so proud of what Chelsea Grin has become today.
MANKIND WILL HAUNT THE EARTH NO MOOOOOORE!!!!
Chelsea Grin & Tom Barber is a sweet spot for me in metal. They're loud and brutal but can also produce beautiful melodic music too. Currently loving Darko US.
Tom is a Super Saiyan Vocalist. He is God-like. And Paolos drums are amazing.
Lol, Metalbro is really driving his point home in this video. I get it though, deathcore can be jarring and most of the time that's the point. I struggle with lyrics every time. Like I'd throw a party if I manage to make out a few words off a deathcore song. 😀
Btw Cytotoxin are releasing a new album soon. Listened to their new song "Dominus" earlier today and it is HUUUUGE. Breakdown and riff city!
king ov deception- lorna shore
Barren and breathless macrocosm - S.O.I
Death portrait - lorna shore
Hollow front - don't fall asleep
Maybe it's just being more used to this style of music but I'd say this song is easy to understand without the help of a lyric video
Same here maybe it just me listening to death core for a bit
@@smarfbag8714 Pretty much just a genre you force yourself into. Find a band whose sound you like and stick with them and it'll translate to others
Jelly IQ yep lol
I just love deathcore because of how groovy it can be and for me the drummer, Pablo Viveros, and as a jazz/funk drummer, he easily carries the band for me. Literally the definition of pocket. One of the most underrated drummers in the metal genre. Dude has some tasty fucking licks.
YAAAAAASSSSSS
I love how the moment the song starts the guy on the left goes STINKFACEEEEEEEE
You should react to the music video for chelsea grin : hostage with metalbro. The word pronunciation is much more clear on that track and it's a banger
I got a proggy suggestion for you! It is Vintersea - Befallen. They are straight up my favorite band and they are insanely underrated.
Have him listen to don't ask don't tell by chelsea grin or the ashes to ashes album. I remember those being less heavy then their newer stuff
I remember when my buddies and I got into metal for the first time. Slipknot was the first band we listened too, but unlike many others, we were thirsty for something heavier. We eventually stumbled across Job For A Cowboy and continued down the rabbit hole throughout the years. Now, some of those same people went back to metalcore and only sample the deathcore genre. As for me, I welcome it all
I respect a man who gives his opinion, but reasonably explains it WITHOUT dissing the topic by bias opinion. And you still acknowledge the message and talent of it. Good job man
It's funny I could never get into Chelsea grin it just seems like constant chugs to me BUT I respect all they've done in the scene! I respect them ever more that their drummer does the backup vocals you can hear him in this throughout it doing vocal lines in and out between Tom
Just subbed! You guys should listen to Martial Law - Murder Grounds.
fit for an autopsy is the perfect bridge the gap. I have a friend/roommate who just couldn't get down with deathcore, and then I showed him Fit for an Autopsy because he really was fucking with Gojira. He loved it. Maybe show him Black Mammoth.
You should react to Darko - Insects studio performance. It’s got Tom Barber from Chelsea Grin and Josh Miller from Emmure in it!
🔥🔥
Gotta check out “In Tenebris” by Defamed, song is absolutely nuts!
Behold the void you got to check out the most recent album super good. In the bliss by them is a great one off the album. By the thousands has a new album as well that is heavy and catchy🤘
You guys should check out bloodbather at some point
It took me a long time to get into their last album but this is way better than the whole album
I remember thinking I would never be able to enjoy bands like Infant Annihilator but now I love them, so i don't blame this guy for not being into deathcore....yet 😉
Z W Anything is possible lol! I’ve been a metal fan for 16+ years, but I’ve just never been able to get into deathcore. I’ll keep trying though!
You should prob show him Lorna shore. Tom was the vocalist for that band before chelsea grin. I think it's a little easier to hear they lyrics in Lorna for some songs. Life of fear he would probably like
The only thing I don't like about this song is Tom's pronunciation in some parts. Sounds like he's putting on a foreign accent
They’re sounding very Acacia Strain-esque in this one.
You guys should react to Alien Weaponry - Ru Ana Te Whenua
Deathcore vocals is a language itself, it is learned with time :)
He would probably like Hostage by Chelsea grin
Listen to him Chelsea grin older stuff hope he enjoyed that 😁
Ed Sheeran hearing Deathcore, respect!
PLEASE!!!!!
React to Sylosis: After Lifeless Years
Whitechapel - Bring Me Home. Its not as heavy as their other stuff, but still great/melodic.
I’m a little with metalbro with Chelsea Grin because as much I would say I don’t hate them, I’ve just had a harder time getting into them (and I like deathcore). I just don’t think their music stands out from a very muddled genre. It’s bit of a chug fest that doesn’t contrast from the norm or from each song of their catalogue. I will say that I sincerely think Tom Barber is a stellar vocalist and lyricist though. Maybe I just need to give this song a few listens and maybe it will grow on me.
Continue the Imminence journey 😁They have like 4 videos that are a story look em up
Paralyzed
Infectious
Lighthouse
Erased
Rock on 🤘
You should check out "Darko-Devine Void" its Tom Barbers side project with the drummer from emmure. I just discovered them and they need to be known. If any of my fellow metal heads miss Tony danza go check them out. Stay metal man🤘🏻
He needs some Hollow Prophet in his life 😂😂 the catacombs by shadow of intent is good too. Ofc both of Ben duerrs projects but hey. Good deathcore.
I'm not a Deathcore guy either.. Much like Fanta pubes over there, I like a bit of melody, I like annunciation, so when I can't make out what they're saying it makes it really hard for me to get into it. It probably derives from rap being my first love of music, lyrical focus plays a big part. Although, when the lyrics are on screen, I see what's being said, I hear how it's said and then I think.. "Ok yeah, I see it now, he's not just making noises" (However 3:33 is inaudible even with lyrics). I wish I could get into Deathcore, I appreciate it, but unbelievably low tuning and lo-fi just isn't for me.
That being said, this song is a banger. Toms vocal range is incredible and I'll be adding this to my very secluded playlist of _"Heavy songs I can tolerate"_ along with Demolisher.
What is This song from Intro?
Link in the description
I say go old school deathcore for MetalBro. All Shall Perish - Royalty Into Exile would be my suggestion.
i get it from somebody's perspective who doesn't listen to deathcore a lot, but this is actually one of the more enunciated deathcore songs i've heard in a while lol
jc 17 I specifically meant the “prison planet” part and the few bars that followed it, not the entire song. I could follow along with most of it with the lyrics, but that specific part there was basically no enunciation at all, I don’t think anybody who speaks English could’ve guessed those lyrics without having them in front of them lol
Tom Barber is one of the clearer vocalists in deathcore lmfao😂
Empty and Hollow by And Hell Followed With is fairly melodic for deathcore.
Yeah he's pretty good. But the whole "prison planet" part is indecipherable.
Tyler Pifer Thank you lol! That’s precisely the part I was talking about in the video where I said there were at least 10 words that all sounded like the same syllable
Too many hours spent listening to deathcore have forced my ears to disagree with you, but to each their own
i second fit for an autopsy. top notch enunciation. and they have rasp singing whic is more melodic and guitar leads are exceptional. also in general if you look up bands with fry screaming vocalists you ll have more chances to find good enunciation. Ofc Thy Art is Murder and Whitechapel are also very good at that.
Cattle decapitation the unerasable past
It took me FOREVER to get into deathcore
Is the intro song on Spotify or something, cuz I love it
Yup link is in the description for the video. Songs on Spotify don't have a link tho
METALBIRB thank you🙌🏻
How about some Within Destruction?
you should react to FIT FOR A KING VENDETTA
Signs Of The Swarm - Nightcrawler
*Great reaction! Can you check out “I’m still okay” by MGK ft. Travis Barker & Yungblud? It’s a really good song*
I like this song especially the vocals, my only problem with this song was that it was a little dull on the on the guitars for me. As someone who didn't start listening to deathcore until 8 years a go, it took a while for me to be able to hear the vocal enunciation in guttural vocals. I can appreciate the music more now that I am more familiar with the way things are pronounced in the vocals.
I liked dis song
Please react to Dir En Grey - Vinushka or macabre (but it has to be the live versions) its pure art and Kyo is the best vocalist in my opinion! Best regards from Germany 😁🇩🇪🍻
Try some Awake in providence
Deathcore used to suck, ever since like 2011 it's been very innovative. I dig it
React to dayseeker the earth will turn
sounds like Acacia Strain
Yeah I don’t know, Tom Barber for the most part has incredible enunciation, but when you’re doing certain low gutturals, you physically can’t make certain syllables, because of the mouth shape it takes to perform such vocals. Overall Tom is super easy for me to understand usually (even without a lyric video) other than when he occasionally does the really low guttural stuff.
He just sounds like someone who never listened to heavier music which is fine but most people who don't like heavier metal even people who are into metal. They complain about the vocals more than anything. Lol oh well
you and Metalbabe should react to Sleeptalk by Dayseeker
1. METALBABE ain't around
2. It's already on the channel dude lol
@@METALBIRB no kidding? Been binging a bunch of your vids today and didn't see it, my b. Loving the content tho, m8
I just can't seem to get into the band anymore without Alex's vocals.
Yeah he's better in the studio
Love the video and keep up the great work. You should check out For The Likes Of You - Rot With Me
DESOLATE - OYASUMI, VOL 1
I feel maybe not the best choice of song for someone inexperienced with deathcore 😆😆 Song absolutely slaps🙌🏻🙌🏻
Also side note, not familiar with many people that can understand thy art that well compared to other bands??😂😂
He's already to listened to Infant Annihilator and Brojob so he's past the initiation phase haha but yes song does indeed absolutely slap!
Not into Chelsea grin at all... but I have to say,..this was one of those songs I did hear the lyrics😂
He will get better with time. Stick with it. Stick to listening to the music solely and eventually you will begin to hear the cadence. Not everyone can just dive in and get it. Try listening to Dimmu Borgir and then come back to this. Repetition helps. Much love from Texas. Metal Birb, you never told me your favorite beer from a live cast you have. Get on it!
Changes all the time but i'm loving a sour in the summer. Raspberry sour above 5% is a perfect refresher for this heat, and favourite brand is Muskoka Brewery but they're local so it's an Ontario company that I'm obsessed with.
pls fckng do Grey Daze - B12 or AMBERTOWN - BLOOM -.- do both if you want something epic for this channel, i'm almost begging for all metal/rock react chanel, only one small replied that she will do..
bruh the dude on the right is a pleb this is by far chelsea grins best work (unpopular opinion) with out the lyrics you can feel the emotion in this song. i hate all this technical "um i didnt hear enunciation" just feel the raw emotion
For the Likes of You- Rot With Me Brother
To quote jasta from hatebreed on his podcast.
He just has bitch ears
The only cure is more of it.
Two toe tags reviewed Another Life by Ingested recently I think you would enjoy that buds
You cannot just drop him into deathcore like that 😂😂. Infant annihilator? Ahaha ya I couldn’t put anyone onto deathcore starting off at these two. Give him fit for an autopsy, thy art is murder (like he said, because that’s a really good band to start off at.) gojira I feel he’d like, also maybe some enterprise earth stuff for some melodical stuff. Ima recommend they will know another by thy art is murder or black mammoth by fit for an autopsy.
metalcore brendan schaub on the left
so I ended up fighting a lion... naked... with a toothbrush
people who cant get over the enunciation of lyrics will never get into deathcore. deathcore is a game of vowel shapes which is what gives you the sick tones and sadly you have to lose enunciation for that. to me if it sounds heavy and makes a cool noise im down for it, i can always read lyrics later if i like the song enough
You have to listen to deathcore songs more than once if you are new. Or it just sounds like noise.
You gotta react to Darko! It's Tom Barber (here with Chelsea Grin) on vocals and Josh Miller from Emmure/Glass Cloud on drums.
i actually think tom barbers announciation is 1 of the best in the game, dont know what that guy did listen to? maybe his earphones are shit
BRUH! my friend who didn't know who this band was till I sent this song liked it even WITH HIM SAYING IT
Bro on the right is trippin'
Chelsea Grin RIPS !!!!
It's ok, he will get into more deathcore after he listens to Blasphemian
Someone needs to put their big boy pants on! Deathcore is for grown men! Stick with whatever you listen to dude!
Metalbro, it's quite clear deathcore is something you will not give a chance to
Lorna shore should be the band to try
metalluchaking Louttit I give everything I listen to a fair chance, I just genuinely haven’t been able to get into deathcore yet, but like I said in the video there are a few bands (Thy Art Is Murder, Shadow of Intent) that I can genuinely enjoy. I just prefer metalcore, that’s just my personal taste. But I do give everything a chance no matter what genre.
@@deadroyaltyproductions3061 fair, I would suggest lorna shore though, immortal would be the perfect track
Show your bud some older Aversions Crown 😂
As a diehard Chelsea grin fan I like it, but it’s not one of their better songs at all
Orange hair dude = has to go haha
He needs Evolve/Ashes to Ashes era Chelsea grin, so he will be able to understand it better lol. I absolutely agree, there's almost no enunciation with current Chelsea Grin, very hard to understand Tom, and coming from someone like myself who is a massive Chelsea Grin fan from like 2008 onwards, I can't tell you what the lyrics to any Chelsea Grin song with Tom in them are, because I cant differentiate one word from another. Not trying to rip on Tom, he is a great vocalist, and he took on a role that would have been hard to fill, Alex's screams were incredible throughout their second and third album period. In a huge way, Alex Koehler's screams were what made Chelsea Grin... well, Chelsea Grin. I'm glad he left Chelsea Grin after the 4th album because that album was atrocious lyrically and vocally when compared to previous CG albums, clearly his head was not in the right place. I'll admit, new CG lyrics are significantly better than 4th album CG lyrics.
