People keep wondering if he sped the video up at 2:48, but fail to notice he repeats the same sequence a second time not even 15 seconds later at the same exact speed without the video ever changing pace. Just accept the fact that he’s mastered the art of shreddy fingers. As for the track itself, bet half of the critics would be in awe and baffled, should it be transposed onto a piano and they’d revere it as a true display of classical composition taken to new heights. Let the man reap the rewards and respect he deserves for all his hard work and effort. This track was a masterpiece.
It’s difficult to even comprehend how Jason’s mind works. I’m an older dude who has played for over 3 decades and I absolutely recognize Jason’s greatness. He’s totally more than just world class technique; He’s got loads of feel and soul in his playing. Gonna be fun continuing to hear what Jason creates in the coming years.
To everyone who says he can't write a song: Write down the song structure, analyze it. Watch and listen to the riffs and placement of licks. Just because you don't understand something doesn't mean it's garbage. Dismissing beautiful, emotional songs like this is arrogant and narrow-minded. I pity whoever doesn't see this type of music as wonderful and valuable.
People who write music like this are writing it on a different plane of existence. People who listen to 'normal' music simply can't comprehend what's going on here.
Watching Jason play reminds me how important it is to practice guitar standing up. There's no use being a proficient couch musician unless you're a studio artist. Adding this to my pre-practice inspiration playlist.
You are the best evolution of John Petrucci. I can hear his influence in your way of playing.....but you are adding some unique magical notes. You are with no doubt one of the greatest around today.

But the same way people who aren't metal heads call metal noise, no matter what metal it is, sometimes people just don't understand this kind of music. There's a lot of musicians out there that are just soulless speed, this guy is not one of those people. There's just, so much power and rage in there.
This guys techical abilitys on the guitar are just beyond good and evil. But i dont like this kind of music in anyway. Its just boring. And the rythmic parts, this annoying "brrrt brrrt brrt brttrtrebrrrt" thats not even brutal or hard in any sense. Its just like someone has eaten to much cabbage. Ok, my taste is different, but there is to much information in this music, it did not breathe, there is no real arc of suspense, its just to many notes. I can hear one song, think "this guy has a fantastic technic" and than i listen to real music that tells a real story that has more content than "look, how fast i am". Notice how his left hand move. When he sweep, he avoid barring the chords...It mean that when we play that major chord where were barring the B-G-D string. Jason will play with fingers 2-1-2 instead of 2-2-2. This is just unreal how this guy is amazing. OMG
He actually plays it with the fingers 2-3-2 not 2-1-2. I took lessons on sweep picking on Jason's teacher, Matt Mills. I don't like that way of playing though. It takes a lot more finger dexterity. So I just bar.
When I’m able to buy a new guitar 🎸 again oneday I plan on learning all your solo music stuff and I’m gonna go high action on my guitar and play it at the best of my ability! Been away from guitar due to my mental health and head trauma and amnesia I suffered back in 2018! I’m all better now 2016 was last time I played and I plan on getting back into it soon just one day at a time.

Old school guys like Jason Becker for example pushed both musical and technical boundaries at the same time. Every single classical maestro that's remembered today is because of their musicality despite handful of them were virtuosos on some instrument.

That had to be added after the fact because if you flick a pickup switch hard enough that the pickups react to the vibration, the sound is nearly not as clear and pristine as it is here. 2:49. I learned this part of the song for the lols. Its actually the easiest part of the song. Its just a sweeping thing super high up on the neck so you really don’t have to move much. The rest of it is like a complex neck breakdance routine. This is like like doing a backflip in the middle to flex.
I have only learned the intro riff but am about to work on more of it. I havent learned that part but you can actually get a similiar sound by just doing really fast diminished sweeps in that area of the neck

I would rather listen to this than some generic Poppy instrumental playing bullshit that takes no effort whatsoever,and they take so much credibility for not doing much at all...oh wait they don't play their instruments,and probably can't,only the people with the same capabilities find those type of people variously talented for no reasons besides mostly looks

To me, all of his songs have structure and almost tell a story. It’s very well put together, just showcases his incredible talent.
