    People keep wondering if he sped the video up at 2:48, but fail to notice he repeats the same sequence a second time not even 15 seconds later at the same exact speed without the video ever changing pace. Just accept the fact that he’s mastered the art of shreddy fingers. As for the track itself, bet half of the critics would be in awe and baffled, should it be transposed onto a piano and they’d revere it as a true display of classical composition taken to new heights. Let the man reap the rewards and respect he deserves for all his hard work and effort. This track was a masterpiece.

    It’s difficult to even comprehend how Jason’s mind works. I’m an older dude who has played for over 3 decades and I absolutely recognize Jason’s greatness. He’s totally more than just world class technique; He’s got loads of feel and soul in his playing. Gonna be fun continuing to hear what Jason creates in the coming years.

    To everyone who says he can't write a song:
    Write down the song structure, analyze it. Watch and listen to the riffs and placement of licks. Just because you don't understand something doesn't mean it's garbage.
    Dismissing beautiful, emotional songs like this is arrogant and narrow-minded. I pity whoever doesn't see this type of music as wonderful and valuable.

But the same way people who aren't metal heads call metal noise, no matter what metal it is, sometimes people just don't understand this kind of music. There's a lot of musicians out there that are just soulless speed, this guy is not one of those people. There's just, so much power and rage in there.

      This guys techical abilitys on the guitar are just beyond good and evil. But i dont like this kind of music in anyway. Its just boring. And the rythmic parts, this annoying "brrrt brrrt brrt brttrtrebrrrt" thats not even brutal or hard in any sense. Its just like someone has eaten to much cabbage. Ok, my taste is different, but there is to much information in this music, it did not breathe, there is no real arc of suspense, its just to many notes. I can hear one song, think "this guy has a fantastic technic" and than i listen to real music that tells a real story that has more content than "look, how fast i am". Maybe i am just to old for this. For me, thats not even metal, especially in other songs with vocals that change from completely gay to sensless screaming. I just hate djent.

      He actually plays it with the fingers 2-3-2 not 2-1-2. I took lessons on sweep picking on Jason's teacher, Matt Mills. I don't like that way of playing though. It takes a lot more finger dexterity. So I just bar.

He is a GREAT guitar player. No doubt in my mind. One doesn't just become this by accident and when some comment so shallowly about it? That's what I don't understand. I guess I could click on their channels and see if they are doing something that much more interesting, but most times it's just trolls that call themselves players or are self proclaimed guitar gurus. Old school guys like Jason Becker for example pushed both musical and technical boundaries at the same time. Every single classical maestro that's remembered today is because of their musicality despite handful of them were virtuosos on some instrument.

That had to be added after the fact because if you flick a pickup switch hard enough that the pickups react to the vibration, the sound is nearly not as clear and pristine as it is here. Maybe if it was from the DI track.

    2:49. I learned this part of the song for the lols. Its actually the easiest part of the song. Its just a sweeping thing super high up on the neck so you really don’t have to move much. The rest of it is like a complex neck breakdance routine. This is like like doing a backflip in the middle to flex.

    • @dylandawson585
      @dylandawson585 4 роки тому

      I have only learned the intro riff but am about to work on more of it. I havent learned that part but you can actually get a similiar sound by just doing really fast diminished sweeps in that area of the neck

    Joshua obviously has his own style of playing, which I love, as he makes it look almost effortless. I swear this young man can play anything. I have to admit that his blinding speed, coupled with his precise hits and clarity leave me in awe, and quite envious to say the least. Aftermath sounds like it could be part of a movie sound track. Who knows you may end up going the way of an old friend of mine, you may have heard of him, Danny Elfman. He had a little band called The Mystical Knights of The Oingo Boingo. I don't know if you have considered that route but with your talent your possibilities are endless. Keep em comin brother, I look forward to the next one.
