Most would not know Sammy is 75. He is not a bitter old man, he is still living life and sharing his accomplishments.
Well spoken. Amen and Amen 🙏♥️🕊️💯
Wait why would he be bitter? Except that he has a baby penis. My escort friend wouldn't lie. She said he was really shy about it but eventually opened up to her about it.
Kind of makes sense, women in Mexico are already used to men with small penises. And women in Mexico are also used to broken white men going to Mexico for some non judgemental TCL
* see Born on the 4th of July
Would explain his girly laugh and singing range too.
Hey don't kill the messenger, I've always liked him. I think Poundcake is my favorite VH song next to Janie's Crying
@@grungestoryteller dude pass that joint, you are holding it too long. What did the women do in Mexico that has haunted you?
The world needs to protect Sammy Hagar at all costs. National treasure in my eyes.
From what? Who? The mob? Alex?
Yes!!!!!
You got, what, in your eyes!?!?!
Must be painful, ... huh!?!? 😬
I like pizza.
@@eriklarson9137 ya, pizza is pretty great.
John Mayer playing 'Finish What Ya Started' ....soloing and singing with Hagar....It's awesome.!! It's the pinnacle of rock!
Sammy still has his awesome voice range after all these years. 🤘
Nobody sang "I'm incomplete"! 😥
Yup. SH having those vocal chops at his age is the most impressive thing about this video. A true rock legend.
I totally agree with Sammy on his choice of guitar players . Beck and Satch but I would ad Brian May .
John Mayer killed it as usual.
he was close
John humbled himself cause of who really played that song and solo, RIP EVH ☝
Messing up a lead? Say it isn't so!!
I need to hear John Mayer's isolated guitar part on the outro! He's doing some great things but they're lost in the mix.
This goes well with JM's "Panama" performance from years back. He's not an Eddie Van Halen player, but it's fun to hear him try other styles that he loves.
Has he ever played a Metallica cover?
@@betacam1160 I noticed he played one note off, but it's still not bad. At least he's paying homage to a legend. If only we could all just appreciate each other's music and not have an ego with comparisons.
I am smack dab in the middle of my second serious cancer battle, and when I see kids at the cancer center, it breaks my heart. Great job for a great cause.
Sammy's voice range is unbelievable. Just unreal!!
Sammy is amazing at - 75 years old, unbelievable, others in his age are not functioning as good, his vitality is like - 55, he is a beast.
Correction...75 years young!
The fact he can still sing just as he did 30+ years ago is astonishing.
must be the tequila
Rock and Roll keeps you young!!
He can't drive 55 LOL)
Sammy is by far the most rockin' artist of all time!
Lol. Not quite.
LOVE THIS JAM~!! John did a great job and Sammy can still belt it out~!!!
This is a great song, never loses its sex appeal. Sammy is just right for it. All the musicians/ singers, excellent!
It's crazy that there's still people that don't know John Mayer is one of the best guitar players alive.
Or maybe people just disagree
He's not.
@@user-eh1og1ci7h you can diss Mayer all you want but you can't discredit his guitar skills, he's phenomenally talented.
and writes creepy/rapey lyrics lol
If you are a 14 year old female. Yeah he is lol.
Sammy KILLS IT every single time.
John Mayer’s always makes me shake my head in disbelief. Living legend.
Dude plays anyone's song like he wrote it
@@knightimer2 Listen to the last 30 seconds of the song. All that 16th note stuff he's doing? Jesus.
Satch with just an acoustic. What a treat.
Tommy lee is one of the most rock solid drummers ever. Never misses a beat and grooves uniquely like no other.
is this his father ?
I love his kick bass
@@justinkassinger8238 Totally agree. Hes a big reason for Mötley Crües succes in my opinion.
Yes, finally some appreciation for Tommy Lee. He is easily in the top 3 of the most kick-ass drummers in rock history. Nr. 1 on that list would be Phil Rudd ofc
…Would have like to have seen more syncopation. Good drumming, but too predictable
John’s playing at the end is insane
As Sammy does! Sammy is off the chain! The legend himself!
Love seeing Sammy,Vic,Tommy Lee, and John having a Good Time !!! Don't know the other back up singer ? He sounds Great !! They all sound Great !! John heck of a guitar player !!!
I've been a John Mayer fan since I first heard Your Body is A Wonderland, but I didn't know how good a guitar player he was till I stumbled upon his jazzy and blues stuff in the library one day! It was then that my mind was blown and said, "this dude can really play"! Most people haven't been exposed to anything but his pop stuff and because it's really catchy music, they don't pay attention to what he's really doing on the guitar! It's easy to just get lost in the catchy melodies!
He’s an awesome guitar player
Wasn't a Fan of John Mayer until I saw him live. Wow! What a Great Player.
John Mayer is up their with the top blues players of all time, he is dreadfully underrated and under appreciated.
When he showed up in the Dead many were unsure- but he threw down 1000%
He's amazing! I'm still waiting to catch him live and I hope he goes full blues for me!
Same here. I find most of his studio recordings boring. But I love watching his live videos. Glad I/m not the only one.
HAHAHA!~!!! really ..this shows not even 5% of what he can do/you just like VH that is why HAHAHA!!!
I have new respect for John Mayer.
I wasn’t a fan until I walked into Best Buy one day many many years ago and they had a concert playing on one of the tv’s ; I was blown away by his guitar playing. I had no idea what a fantastic guitarist he is. I’ve seen him solo and with Dead and Co. which Grateful Dead is my favorite band.
Their voices sound amazing together.
The extraordinary partnership between Satriani and Hagar is truly a gift for everyone! Please stay together... composing and bringing us these wonderful talents that make our lives rich and pleasant... and happier to have you..... hugs from Brazil.!
John, Sob Rock is an all-timer for me. Family and I saw you live in S Florida last April and we were blown away! Your guitar playing skills have earned the respect of many. Eagerly awaiting your next record!
As others have said but let me add one more comment on this..... John played that magnificently all throughout.
I bought a cassette of Standing Hampton back in 1982. Saw him live in concert a year or so later. How can it be that he's still rocking all these decades later?
Love it with the acoustic twist!
Sammy’s voice is amazing how it’s still so strong.
I love when a guitar virtuoso show his acoustic prowess
This was seriously one of the greatest videos I have ever seen.
I have watched and been a super fan of Sam for 40 years. I have not once listened or watched John Mayer even once. And Now. I am blown away. Sam at 75 might be better than ever, and this John guy is charismatic and happens to be a superb guitarist and vocalist. Wow. Just . Wow!
Sammy put on one of the best live shows I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot of big rock shows. Nobody works harder on stage.
@@LaddPhoto1 me too. Saw Sammy with VH twice. The Waboaritos once, and with DLR once. He always sounds the same. Filled with energy and gratitude towards the fans.
Damn Sammy’s voice never dies
when this song came out i must of played it 100,000 times great verison love van hagar era!
Sammy still has it! he's manage to protect preserve his voice compared to other guys from the same era. Man I miss Van Halen!
Love that my rockers from High School are paying it forward! Beautiful energy
Its like Bob Seger said once in an interview. The best part about 'making it big' in the music industry is that hopefully, when you get to the golden years, you can do things you want to just for the fun of it. Look at Sammy here, and Tommy Lee, Kirk, Vic, and the rest of the gang, having a blast playing these great old tunes. Entertaining as hell. Sammy, you are a keeper of the flame-- need you to keep going!
As a classic rock drummer in the Bay Area, I salute all off you, on stage and behind the scenes. 🙏
Sammy Hagar, what a legend and still killing it. Add John Mayer and it cannot get much better, until Tommy Lee sits in the pocket. So good on so many levels and for such a good cause. Respect!
That was freaking golden!
Sammy Hagar is one of my favorite people in entertainment of all time. Being humble is a supreme quality.
I remember getting the album and hearing this song for the first time... it was different, but it really grew on me
John and Sammy are two of my favorite people. Always looking for a new challenge and a great pair.
Wow, 3 artists I never thought I'd see on stage together. James, Sammy and John. So damn awesome
Don't overlook Tommy!!
@@swalter36 holy shit!!! I didn't even notice that! Thanks man
Im sitting here mega happy faced …. Great show! Namaste from Kathmandu 🇳🇵Nepal
That version was superb in every single way. EVH would be very proud.
Vic being backed with John and Sammy on guitars … love it.
Man Sammy isn't aging. Happiness keeps you young!
Satriani too! He's 66 and looks like a regular 40yo pizzeria owner
Chickenfoot was so awesome!! I was so lucky to see them live in Vegas.
Great job love it I'm so glad I got to see Van Halen eight times with Sammy
John Mayer is a really great musician! Nice job!
So is my sister
A genius
you need to get out more then!!!
totally feeling Tommy's chill vibe.
Tommy Lee looks relaxed and having a great time.. always enjoyed his straight ahead straight time drumming.
thank you for tackling the Gratful songbook
Interesting how Sammy mentioned his favorite 3 guitarists. Eddie,Joe and John. In my favorite list as well. John as usual blew it out of the water with this acoustic version of Finish what you started and it was improvised even more amazing. !!
Sammy Hagar is 75? Damn. Get me some of that Tequila because it must be working.
Not knowing much about Mayer.. I love rock/metal.. thought he was soft girly music. ..but after hearing him I appreciate his immense talent and style.
This is awesome. I didn’t know I needed this. I’m like why not use theses collaborations of industry greats. What a good use of talent this arrangement was. I bet these tickets were through the hotter than a 57’ 🎸pickup.
Tommy Lee and John C Mayer y’all. Wow.
Sammy hasn't lost anything in his voice!
My favorite Van Halen song! So funky!
GREAT JOB ALL..LOVE YOU ALL SOOO MUCH THANX 4 BRINGING SOOOO MUCH JOY TO THE WORLD.!!!
John mayer from Fairfield CT giving love to the greatest guitar player of all time
Respect
It's true. You never really know what to expect from John Mayer. Well, except great music. You always get that.
And Sammy nailed the vocals. Good grief! These guys were on fire.
I never got John’s brilliance with Dead and crew and now, when I hear him and Tommy and Sam and Vic I complete get it. Man what talent!
A lot of talent on that stage for sure .
C’mon baby finish what ya started!! Wooooo soo greatt. As a lifelong and beyond Van Halen fan i’m blown away by John M and of course.. who’s behind the drumss?? 👏👏👏👏🤘🤘👍👍👍
Tommy Lee...Mr. Mötley Crüe.
Seeing the start with James Hetfield's arm around John Mayer trips me out every time lol
Best Hagar Road Trip vid yet! I just noticed Tommy Lee on the skins. I like participating in a jam session, nice job Maher on the impropmtu solo.
This video warms my heart - what great contributors to society. OMG this is an amazing episode - interviews with Jo and John - were FANTASTIC
Ohh. man. Seeing Sammy on stage with such an awesome group of musicians - so fun. Tommy Lee; James Hatfield; John Mayer; Vic Johnson ; legends!!!
John is a wicked awesome dude. Nailed the solo in his own way.
Sammy still killing it at 75....
Awesome 🤘
Does anyone have more fun in life than Sammy Hagar? I mean the guy is still killing it in his seventies. Legend.
Sammy's energy is infectious.
This gave me great big chills. Straight up my back. Awesome! 👍👍
18:45 - the start of the 'Mayer Metaphors' :D Excellent interviews
FANTASTIC!!!! Every minute of it!
Frickin’ Sammy is an inspiration to all of us older dudes. Great attitude, super talented and always kills it. Satriani and Mayer? Brilliant
Amazing job by amazing musicians/people!
Everybody on stage is incredible. Sammy laughs in the face of Time. Everything about the guy would suggest he is 20 years younger than he is. Dude will be killing it into his 80's if he keeps it up.
Buddy that's called hair dye and plastic surgery
I would love to see one of your Jam Sessions in person someday! 😘🌵🌹
I hope I can have just 1% of Sammy’s passion and vigor for life at 75 years old…AMAZING!
Finish What Ya Started 21:40 🤘😃🤘
Remember when Dead and Co had Sammy on for Fire On the Mountain?? He was very solid and also it felt like a weird dream “mom, dad! I had a dream Sammy Hagar and John Mayer played with the Grateful Dead!!!!”
Sammy, I am from Fontana and I live in Estado de Guanajuarto, Mexico. Standing Hampton was worn out! Very proud of your class, proud of your work, charity, and your business. 👍 Lee
Tommy has a tight pocket, not as easy as you think.
Mayer is such a great guitarist. I knew he'd kill it on this but I watched it anyway.
Love this event and cause. Bravo to all involved.
That was spot on cool! Talent! Talent! Talent!
Was at Cabo Wabo when john Mayer jumped on stage with Sammy, words can’t describe that night and the energy. Oh yeah, Toby Keith was on stage too, that night convinced me to move to Mexico. Can’t make that up.
Loved watching this video 🤟🏻👏🏻
Nice to see those guys keeping this going.
Does any one else think that Guy Fieri and Sammy are twins. Love this video with John Mayer!
You have a big heart...for everybody
Love Sammy and John
Thanks for this video
Great rendition Hats off too all
Coming from 1986 this is the ultimate line up wow
Interesting to hear John’s take on Eddie’s guitar work here. Two phenomenal guitarists with totally different styles. John stayed very true to Eddie’s riff and solo, but to hear it on acoustic was pretty cool. Interesting that John Mayer also played Eddie’s solo on Beat It when Fall Out Boy covered it. Much more free interpretation there, but showcases their different styles all the more.
I think this is awesome. Sammy is great and John Mayer does Eddie amazing and cool Tommy Lee is also having fun. Great guys
Satriani is the legend, he makes an incredible duo with Sammy
His guitar is a wonderland. In his hands. Just grinnin.
Joe is so inspiring.
