Rob is one of few that you can understand every word he sings.
Rob has such a great voice!
I haven't understood a word Eddie Vedder has been singingin 30 years. Doesn't mean I don't like him. I agree about Rob. Lol
Roger Daltrey as well!
Avril Lavigne too but she’s whiny as hell.
Amen! ❤️
Man Hagar is a Super Unreal Phenomenon at 75 years old. Wow!!👍👍👍👍👍
Carlos Santana is also 75! Just sayin...
@@vanessamahon6524 True Vanessa!!👍
I’m sure living on a beach in Cabo doesn’t hurt
@@Farfignewton29 You are absolutely True! Technically livin life! You don't age!
Songs are like your kids, it's hard to pick a favorite. I always tell my kids that my favorite is the one giving me the least grief.
Rob is a down to earth guy. As real as you can get. Sammy is a class act himself. Both are stand up people.
Rob, Justin Bieber is nowhere near your league... enough said. I feel like Johnny Reznick should feel happy as hell to be compared to you, he's great (I love Iris, among others) but not comparable to the Rob Thomas!
I can listen to Rob Thomas sing all day long. He just has such a unique and engaging sound that is instantly recognizable. And, yeah, Sammy is a royally under appreciated guitarist.
I saw Sammy at a small airport getting off a private plane years ago. I took a picture of him walking from the plane, and he saw me and walked over to me and shook my hand and said hello. Truly a great person.
Wow Rob looks great. Hasn't aged a day. Sammy too. Really cool nice dudes
Rob Thomas and Sammy Hagar really sounding goid together. They both are musical icons🎉🎉.They both compliment each other perfectly 🎉🎉.
Props to Sammy for getting with Rob for his show. Rob Thomas is one the coolest guys ever and one of my favorite artists. Truly a talented genuine musician, Mr. Thomas is.
I love how Sammy steps on the backup singers by accident, then realizes. "OH shit"!
Went to a Santana concert 3 years ago and Rob showed up to sing “Smooth”. How cool is it that he does that.
Rob seems to be one of those rare talents that truly loves what he does more than the fame.
I love Sammy Hagar, Rob Thomas has an amazing voice! I love them both
The most amazing thing about this vid for me is how generous and present Sammy is. He's only trying to do the song justice, not pull out all the stops and grab the spotlight. There are even a few points where he oversteps a bit and just smiles and pulls back. What a fucking LEGEND!!! And Rob Thomas... well... I don't know what you can say. His worst song is awesome...:)
Sammy is a real gentleman to play as understated as he did. Hes obviously great, and can shred, and most people dont know that. He knows that. So instead of shoving a thousand licks in out face he plays tastefully. Honestly this is better than the surprise of seeing prince shred for the first time.
Sammy I've been a fan since the 70's and you're like a fine wine brother, always getting better with age and Rob Thomas is simply awesome, thanks for the great performance.
A short story; As a single man having a much earned midlife crisis, I traveled on holiday from SoCal to Thailand in 2001. I found myself in a GoGo bar in Pattaya. Back in the late 60’s, I was too young to be drafted in the Vietnam war. I had read that many solders took R&R in Thailand back then. As I sat in this GoGo Bar, a stunner came out dancing to the song “Game of Love”. Then came on “Smooth”. Sitting on a leather couch, I had a girl on my left hugging me, a girl on my right hugging me, while Carlos and Rob were killing it with that song. I just rested my head back and grinned from ear to ear as it hit me, this is where and why my brothers took R&R here. I get it! The memory of that trip gives me joy to this day. 🤟
Rob will always be one of my biggest heroes. Someone Like You is still one of the greatest cassettes I’ve ever heard. Long love MB20
Rob Thomas is the real deal. Nobody more deserving of the good stuff of fame. Great songwriter, soulful singer, and seems like a genuinely great dude, the kind you’d like to pop a couple cold ones with and trade stories…
Let's give some recognition to Rob's backup band. Wow, they are so tight and talented. Excellent..
Sammy Hagar 74 years old and still rocking hard. Impressive.
Damn! Sammy is so awesome! I've been a fan since I was a kid back in the 1980s. 🤘🏻
Grew up on Red Headed Stranger, Rock of the Westies and Fandango. Glad I'm here. Glory, honor, peace.
This is the best Rock & Roll Road Trip ever. Love love slamming Sammy always and forever. Then Rob comes along later and he’s so hot. Then the two of them together. It’s more than a dream come true to me. Thank you do much. This is fabulous.
Rob is very intelligent and articulate
A guitar hero covering a guitar hero; awesome!!!
Wow Sammy tearing it up, awesome. Rock on Sammy!
Hager did great, and of course, Rob is absolutely wonderful!
I love the interaction with Sammy and the artists he interviews. Sammy keep the faith. You are keeping Rock alive.
Rob used to live down the road from me. I used to hear some goofy stories of people running into him at the store or the gym. He’s just a person, folks. But he’s a good singer, too!
I.dont believe Sammy has ever gotten the credit he deserves. His contribution to rock n roll is unprecedented.
I'm lost in words...we gotta love those guys
Sammy is a really good person to work for, and always has a good attitude. My personal experience, his brother in-law Buck is a good friend. Bolinas Roks.
Luv it, I also wore out my VHS tape of Live without a net. R.I.P~EVH🤘
Most people forget what a great Guitarist Sammy really is!
LMFAO
@@jaysantos536 I guess Jay is not a big fan of Sammy's playing?
@@rubicon-oh9km Probably a Roth fan.
@@jaysantos536 to each his own
Sammy is a good player, but he is no Carlos Santana and was a bit lost on this song.
Look here I'm a rock n roller through and through, but when I first started getting interested in writing, Rob Thomas was and still is one of my biggest influences. Lyrically and melodically. The dude is so good ✌🖤🤘
Checkout Rob on Daryl's House! Your kiss is on my list
I think he’s so underrated.
Rob is guaranteed one of the greatest singer songwriters of my generation let alone of all time in my opinion ✌️💙
Sammy can do it all and play with anybody, kinda surprised he doesn't do his own "supernatural" with all the great musicians he knows 😎👌 this was great as always 👏
first time I ever liked something before hearing/viewing it
That Sammy dude just may make it one day .
You can forget how good Sammy is as a guitar player.. THIS ROCKS!!.. Rob's Vocals are perfect!!
He's a decent player, but he's certainly no Carlos Santana.
@@javiermoretti1825 no one is close to Carlos.
@@LostLar Neal Schon who played with Carlos does a pretty good job.
@@javiermoretti1825 Keep in mind this is a 74 year-old Sammy....not the 25 year old of the early to mid 1970s. Dude would be a rock legend just for his vocals on the debut Montrose album alone....
Sammy was meant for this. Such an Ambassador of Rock and Roll. And Rob Thomas, so talented and so cool. Great interview.
I'll second that nomination. Can't think of a better guy to carry the RocknRoll torch.
Rob isn't only a great artist but he is definitely a great singer a great Entertainer. I'm just glad and honored that I got to go see him about a month ago in Chicago. I'll never forget that❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🎼🎶🎼🎶🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻 and let's not forget I'll funny is😅
One of the best interviews I've seen Sammy do. Rob makes you feel like you're part of the process. Sammy's not just a celebrity or musician but a real people person. Him and Alice Cooper are in a league of they're own.
jesus its like people forgot or didnt know that sammy played most of the lead guitar on his songs during his solo career
EXCELLENT!! Sammy can tear up those strings so beautiful. Rob sings words so clearly. Rock on dudes. ❤️
sure wish Sammy played more guitar in Van Halen Cheryl he can really tear it up !
Sammy is really an underrated guitar player... He plays with everyone and it always sounds good...
He sounds really bad in this one
Sammy learnt the main bits that's all that counts 🤣
Rob gots great vocals, one of a very few artist that can actually sing
Santana is pure magic
The best Sammy R&R Road Trip colab yet!
Thanks, guys- really good!
I thought Sammy was pretty brave to take on a Santana song like that but he smoked it.
Red Rocker and the genius of Matchbox 20. Obviously, I was a fan of Sammy’s before, during and after Van Halen, but I’ve been a fan of Rob’s since Real World. Great music knows no genre boundaries.
Rob Thomas never aged, I watched his concert many moons ago and he still looks the same👌🏼
This was my best friend Chris’s favorite song before he passed away in 99. Thanks Rob and Sammy for bringing back good memories!!! You guys rocked it!!
Rob is a vampire.. he hasn't aged!!
Loved this !!!! Long long time Sammy fan…. Then years later Matchbox 20 from their start with 3AM, etc. Loved seeing them several times… and a nice nice version of Smooth…. Great stuff guys !!! And fitting as it was Carlos’s birthday too a few days ago !!!
Sending love from Arizona !!!!
Thank you Sammy. Thank you Rob. Thank you Axses TV. So Awesome
🥀Amazing time well spent with Rob Thomas he's such a powerful person🥀
I've done security for a lot of artists over the past decades.. and I have to agree Willie Nelson not only the nicest man, but so humble and what blew my mind about him is after the shows he'd go out and sign stuff and meet fans and take photos, and he'd remember some of them by name from a previous time he was in town. The dude is super sharp. And I too, watched Live without a Net all the time growing up, and I think some people forget Sammy is a really good guitarist.
Sam pulls this off, immaculately!
Just fantastic guys
I love this song and Rob Thomas and WOW what a performance by all!!! Go Sammy, go!!
It's so great that he mentioned what a fan he was of "Live Without A Net"...one of the best live performances ever recorded. I can imagine how inspiring it was to a young writer/future performer.
Sammy's road trip interviews and shows are so much fun. This was a great interview with Rob. They both sounded pretty smooth...
Awesome. Rob and Sammy are great musicians!
Sammy killed it
Damn..... Sammy can hold his own
I could watch this 1,000 times, this man has the best voice, he is talented and handsome.
Just now realizing that I saw this LIVE!
I love you Rob and Sammy of course!
@Sammy Hagar Your show is awesome!
I hope this is you, thank you for taking the time out to reply. Lots of love
Absolutely love "So you're a kite without a string"!!
Damn Sammy..that was smooth brother✌️
Sammy, Santana, and Rob are legends.
That was awesome in so many ways
SMOOTH???WOW GROVE? EPIC MOVES ROB SAMMY. DOUBLE WHAMMY. xxxxxoooo
I love you, Rob! ❤️
Thanks Sammy for this. More power!
I wasn’t really a Sammy fan until 5150 and man seeing him playing guitar and singing along side Eddie wow (LONG TIME FAN)
Sammy nailed it.
Sammy was my first concert way back in 1984 , it's amazing how the man is still ripping it up to this day !
I saw him open up for Boston in 1979. Crazy
I have watched many of Sammy's Rock and Roll Road Trip. So real and fun, and you learn a lot. Great interviews and great vibes.
Sammy never stops, what an inspiration
Oh my stars ✨💕🌴😍
Sammy, you are becoming quite the interviewer. Love to see you master yet another form of art!
A remarkable gift to bond and bring out the real in people. You're awesome Sammy.
Amazing interview. Love Rob, Carlos, Smooth!
I love this it's so revealing and it's okay bc we are human
Pure magic with all you greats performing Smooth! I love Marchbox 20 songs!
3:51 same here Rob. Live without a Net had a huge impact on me too.
Rob and Sammy, you guys continue to rock. Musical gold. Never afraid to write lyrics about human yearning. Always ready to rock. Back during the heyday of “3AM” and what was it? “Balance” by VH at that time (I think?) I never would have imagined this vid here on UA-cam -/ but you guys continue to surprise people pleasantly with rock. I would love to see Rob singing about how he can’t drive 55 either.
Two of my favorites
Rob is definitely honest about himself very intelligent guy I really like him ….no bs
Once again Sammy is an impeccable musician and showman.
And people seem to really like him....
How much talent can one man have ? I forgot Sammy can also do rhythm and lead guitars !
Man Sammy jammed the hell out of that.
So damn awesome!! Love Sammy!! Rob you rule!! Man would I love to sit behind the drums with these guys!!
Holy shit Sammy !!!!
WOww. What a performance
Excellent.
