Forever frozen in time. Brian still alive Wyman on the bass playing like an upright bass, Keith switching lead guitar with Brian. Brian so enthusiastic! And Charlie Watts being Charlie. This belongs in a museum. The crowd have to be in their 70's and 80's now. I am 73 so I was about 13 when this aired.

The Early Stones were the best with Brian In the Group. Yes, they had great songs after Brian died, but AS A ROCK N ROLL/BLUES BAND, they were far better in the early years.

    Notice Keith's guitar...
A sunburst Les Paul Standard, a model that was first made in 1958 then discontinued in 1960.
Keith bought the guitar in NYC in 1964 during a US tour and brought it back to England where guys like Eric Clapton, Peter Green, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page were knocked out by the biting tone and awesome sustain.
Perhaps "Keef's" biggest contribution to rock'n' roll was to introduce the Les Paul Standard to the guitarists in England. (Not a lot of the guitars were produced and thus there were few, if any, in England in 1964.)
Years later Keef gave/sold the guitar to Mick Taylor - Brian's replacement in the Stones - who removed the Bigsby tailpiece and installed a standard bridge assembly.

That's because their amps were turned up loud. Almost any valve amp will sound good when turned up so that the sound breaks up.
The trouble with guitarists these days is that they buy 20, 30, or 50 watt amps to use at home but they can only have the volume on 2 or 3, which is pointless with valve amps.
The best valve amps for using at home are 1 watt, which are still pretty loud, but you can crank the volume and get that tone that we all buy valve amps for.
I own a 5 watt valve amp and it's incredibly loud, but I can attenuate it to 0.5 watts and it's still loud, but I can crank it up and it sounds the dog's bollocks!😆👍

Adding to my previous comment I liked everything by the stones up until Angie and very little afterwards.
I was 16 when they exploded onto the scene in 1964 they were a sensation being so very different
I have to laugh when I hear Mick putting on his faux southern accent Being as he was a boy from Dartford a suburb 20 miles down river from central London.
However I must congratulate the stones for still performing after 60 years if you had told me back in the 60s that they would be going strong when Mick was 78 years old I would’ve laughed and laughed.
Now I am just amazed! Good on them

The Stones closed out the show by following James Brown. Keith has said it was one of the worst decisions the band made because James absolutely killed it. The girls were still so amped from his performance. Similar to another concert when The Who open for Herman’s Hermits. Imagine following Keith Moon & Townsend smashing his guitar with “Mrs. Brown You’ve Got A Lovely Daughter”
