Absolutely the Pinnacle of The Stones greatness. Plowed under a mountain of drugs at a chateau in France. Writing and recording at all different times and yet still delivering this somehow cohesive masterpiece. Only the Rolling Stones could have crafted this. Possibly the greatest Rock & Roll record ever made.
I'm going to vote for Sticky Fingers as the greatest Stones LP. I love this album but, Sticky Fingers is a more cohesive collection that has not a single weak moment.
I agree even though music magazines torched the album the fans bought it . I believe it’s length was one of the factors . People were not ready to devote the time required to listen to and flip double albums......the fact they did not use all the extra songs on their next album Goat’s Head Soup is extremely strange. They basically had one side of another album done and ready to go ??
@@pc7135you cannot compare this double Lp to the single album effort of Sticky Fingers if that’s the case Let It Bleed in my opinion is better then Sticky Fingers......song for song ......
The greatest rock album by anybody ever. Not just the Stones. This is the great masterpiece of the entire 70 years of Rock 'n' Roll history. If you don't believe me, listen to the whole thing again. When I die, I will direct that Exile on Main Street be played at my Memorial, AS LOUD AS POSSIBLE!
IT WAS A LONG TIME AGO BUT I REMEMBER IT AS IF IT WAS YESTERDAY, GREAT TIME,S GREAT MEMORIES.AT LEAST I THINK THERE IS. PEACE BE WITH YOU ALL MY FRIEND'S. ✌️😎
Impossible to overpraise this album... opinions may wildly vary but to me its the peak of the Taylor years and Keith and Mick's writing and arranging God tier. Imho their magnum opus.
I worked my way through hearing this album and always found it rather tiring . I know many people out there seem to love it ,but i just don't get the point. Beggars Banket, Let it bleed and Sticky Fingers is heads and shoulders above it, imho.
It's just "okay". The five songs that FM radio played then , Tumbling Dice, Happy, All Down The Line, Rocks Off, Sweet Virginia , were really good, interesting , dynamic songs, but the rest of it just didn't do much for me. I just don't think it needed to be a double album. But, Whatever, The Stones are great.
No words for magnatude l hope live long enough every day is a new Day Rolling Stones are something you can Bet on Dark horse running can't get enough of that down home feeling Glory Hallelujah Bro 🤟🖤🧡💚🤎🤍💙💜❤️🍒🤟 Ciao
I was 12 when this record came out, the stones had been around a long time already, their so prolific back then, new hit songs on the radio, year after year. The Beatles were the clean cut band and the stones were the dirty boys, that was the thinking back then.
Rolling Stones é uma banda que nunca vai acabar. Mesmo depois que todos os seus integrantes se forem, cada álbum deles será sempre ouvido como seu mais recente lançamento.
Upon its release the album was panned by music magazines proclaiming it was a collection self indulgent songs made to feed the Stone’s egos . There was no clear direction to the album and a double album was a lofty indulgent presentation. When Goat’s Head Soup came out Exile On Main Street was forgotten about until years later when what the Stones had actually made was a diverse collection of different style songs making up the greatest rock and roll album of the 70s . As a footnote decades later the Stones pulled out some astounding sounding songs that had been left off Exile On Main Street and had not even been used on Goat’s Head Soup...........
Rock critics were and are a joke. Rolling Stone (no relation lol) in particular is ridiculous. If you look at their retrospective reviews, they basically reverse course 75% of the time or more.
Lots of hype. It's a good album, maybe even a great album, but I think the Stones have four that are better. The White Album isn't the Beatles best album and Physical Graffiti isn't Zep's best either. Think for yourself. Don't just repeat what you heard someone else say.

Great, great album, but for me Let It Bleed is my pick...hard to go wrong.
No one makes this kind of music anymore. So sad.
No one else ever did. Exile is the greatest accomplishment of all time in Rock 'n' Roll.
Stones forever

I respectfully disagree. It's good, but Sticky fingers and Let it Bleed our on another level😊❤

From LP, 8 track, cassette, CD, iTunes best tunes ever 😁
Yeah those 8 tracks produced the most godawful quality of sound. But the memories...sigh.
The best album
Im a Grateful Dead head ..but a STONE😮FREAK ... nobody better.. Garcia and The Grateful Dead did many Stones covers...RIP CHARLIE..
A vibe naqueles anos era outra... o universo estava em lua de mel...

The Beatles were well and truly over by the time this was released.
THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST STONES ALBUMS EVER!
ESPECIALLY LIKE THE PICTURE INSIDE THE COVER OF MICK AND KEITH SHARING A DRINK WHILE SINGING, TOO COOL
Top 5 rock n roll pic of all time, easy.
MY FAVORITE STONES MUSIC.STICKY FINGERS AND EXILE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A DOUBLE RECORD.AND YEAH THIS MUSIC MAKES ME SO HAPPY.....RIP CHARLEY WATTS.

Except Keith. If they don't break up after he dies (in 100 years) the Stones are over anyway.
Sans aucun doute, le dernier album "majeur" des RS , fabriqué en France 🌴🧙♂🦹♂🧞♀
First time I've listened to this record...1:10 in and I'm already floored...

Excellent album. The Stones wound up, no sleep.

No worries. I don't get how you don't get it, but I dig that you think it's weird that you don't get it.✌
Why edit out Tumbling Dice?
This is titled Part I so I assume it is or will be on Part II.

Mick Taylor, or "Mick 2".
BALLZ
Bad to the bone,
This is not the whole album
where's Charlies bass drum? where's Bill's bass line? Mick is a nasty egomaniac.
