  • This video goes into a comparison of these two coatings. Gyeon Mohs Evo was reformulated and aimed to compete with Gtechniq Crystal Serum Light. Both coatings are very similar in application and hydrophobic behavior. These two are really close.

    There is a fade out before the slickness test. I did not want to wait another 3 hours to process the video in the editor. But the test is not impacted.
    As seen both coating coatings are very similar to each other in application and hydrophobic behavior. Gyeon Mohs Evo for me gets the edge in darkening and hydrophobic behavior. Gtechniq Crystal Serum Light gets the edge in slickness. Both good coatings but for me I like Gyeon Mohs Evo more than Gtechniq Crystal Serum Light.
    Have any of you used both of these coatings?

    If you are planning on both of the additional ceramic layers to both of these iconic brands, especially looking at this comparison in mind- Syncro kit with Gyeon's ''Skin' or Gtechniq's CSL with 'EXO V5' which one is better? Secondly, would that change the outcome of your decision overall? based on both of these brands base layers AND their toppers? making if say, EXO V5 out performed Skin? would the toppers change your mind overall?

    I'm happy with my Gyoeon Mohs Evo after 8 months. First ceramic coating experience so can't compare to anything. Application was too easy can't get it wrong, Flashes/Beads almost immediately in Houston TX weather. Still rinses dirt easy and beads great to this day. What are your thoughts on the Gyeon Bathe soap compared to Carpro Reset? I prefer the Gyeon myself. Seems to be more suds and slicker feel. Anything else to try out?

    I switched over Mohs Evo before installing CSL exo, water spots issue with simple rain and CSL is easy but if make a tiny mistake on the wipe off its not as forgiving as Mohs Evo. Price on Mohs is better in my area as well. 1 layer is very attractive I'm done with multiple steps coatings. Cheers

    Tried Gyeon mohs on a customer car after years of doing CSL & Evo installs (Gtechniq installer). It's leaps and bounds improved over their original formula. I remember putting 3 layers of the stuff only for the hydrophobics to be gone in 12+ months. Also I remember the water spotting issues. Was the reason I stopped installing Gyeon coatings. I've tried both Cancoat Evo and Mohs Evo and have nothing but good things to say. However these days I'm more inclined towards single coating applications.

Paint stays slick and very easy to clean. Used cquk 3.0 before this (1,5 years) and the degraded to fast for me. Mohs EVO on my daily driven car for 7 months now (circa 15-16k kilometers, that is something like 10k miles)... Car lives outside, bird poops, dirty rains, pretty average maintenance (I use exclusively Gyeon products on my vehicle, but sometimes I washed car after 5-6 days, sometimes after month and a half)... Coating is still same as the first day, EXCEPT in the middle of my hood/bonnet, but that is because my cats sleep there (because of heat of course), and they rubbed it off (so cats 1:0 Mohs EVO haha)... Very smooth application (it was easier for me than any wax I used), and great slickness...
    Next up for me will probably be Pure EVO on my new (new to me), car that I just got...

    • @MikeGDetailing
      @MikeGDetailing  Рік тому +1

      That is going to be hard to answer as most coatings are not sunlight friendly. It would be best to find some shade to apply them. Gyeon coatings are outdoor friendly with the caveat to top them with Gyeon Cure. Gyeon also has their Flash coating that is available to mobile detailers. I don't know what it takes to be authorized to install it.
      If you do use one in direct sun the flash times will be fast as the panel is hot.

    • @MikeGDetailing
      @MikeGDetailing  Рік тому +4

      For me UK 3.0 checks all the boxes and is still my go to coating. Mohs Evo is a good option and Gyeon got this one right and I would have this as #2 from the coatings you asked about. Mohs will be slicker than both UK and Beadlock.
      Beadlock is a good coating as well. Not as durable as UK from my testing but overall it is good. I have not used the marine combo.
      UK will be more hydrophobic and have tighter water beading. Sheet rate is about the same as Mohs Evo. Mohs did a better job repelling soap when I use the pump foamer to and add soap to the surface.

    • @MikeGDetailing
      @MikeGDetailing  9 місяців тому

      @@BigBear-- I am not a fan of Gtechniq coatings. I do not think they are that great. Sure they are easy to work with but their overall performance is rather lackluster for me. I like my coatings to be hydrophobic and this is where Crystal Serum Light comes up short. It tends to sheet more than bead. Perhaps this is what you are looking for in your area for a coating to not have that tight water beading. In order to get that water beading, Exo has to be applied. I have not used V5 and I do not plan to. V3 was good and V4 was not good.
      Gyeon Synchro Evo is better than the previous version but Skin Evo still falls short in its overall performance. And yes it takes away from the slickness of Mohs but slickness is not that important to everyone. Mohs Evo by itself performs better than Syncro. You can always top it with something like Gyeon ceramic detailer or Cure.
      If you want to stay within the Gyeon family then Gyeon themselves states Pure to have better resistance to water spotting.
      Another coating to consider is Cquartz SiC as that has better resistance to water spotting than Uk per CarPro. UK topped with SiC is a great combination.
      As you stated you an always go the graphene route with something like the Adams Advanced, DIY Detail 3 year Graphene.
      Me personally I have moved away from multi-layer coatings and have moved onto single layer applications.

    I installed MOHs Evo end of July, covered about 7-8k miles since.
    Water behaviour is not as good as the first few months. Beading is still nice and tight. But the water used to clear off the car whilst driving, so the car would be dry after driving in the rain, now it hangs around.Gyeon Trim on the lower of the car is pretty dead after the same time.
    Gave it a wash with Reset/Descale a few weeks ago and Restart and Iron this week. Hasn’t really made it any better.
    Application was spot on, after polishing, cleaned with Feynlab Pure Rinseless and Gyeon Prep. Car didn’t get wet for two weeks after application. No water spots really from what I could see prior to descale.
    I expect it will be pretty dead after UK winter.
    Will try a CarPro coating next year, and will transition all my Gyeon stuff over to CarPro as I use them up. Too much marketing and under delivering from Gyeon.

    That's not how Mohs is supposed to be installed (cross pattern).
