Finally using a good engine. I built close to the same engine and installed it in my 62 Falcon. Top loader, 3 55 posi. Offenhuser 360 tunnel ram. Duel 600 cfm. Holleys tunnel ram carburetors. My daily driver.
Love to see these shows. Ford has always but a stout engine. Since showing these shows to many of my Bud's. To date 4 have dumped their bowties and gone to the Blue Oval. And they are smiles from ear to ear. Why? The power has blown them away. And at least 2 of them has said the durability has convinced them to stay with Ford.

I've always thought tunnel rams were "too much" but they make perfect sense. They remove the advantages efi intake might have in a consistent cylinder to cylinder AF distribution. Torque curve increases across the board in comparison to a single plane intake.
On Season 6 Episode 8 this engine made more power with the Trick Flow single 4bbl intake they took off! 617.6hp vs 602hp and 537.2 tq vs. 519tq with the Holley and dual carbs. They didn't tune and re-jet the dual carbs though. It's funny they don't mention that they made less power!
I know that this would literally be destroying money, but..... I would love to see a engine build comparison where you guys torque bolts by feel rather than to spec, and with/without break in lubricant. I'm curious to see just how important all of these steps are to building a reliable motor.
I'm thinking 540ci, street O-port tunnel ram w/dual 550 EFI bodies and CC magnum 244* roller;1.8 rockers. Ported 300cc AFR ovals. For a modern twist on FI meld with hot rodding.... And the inj.are mounted into the lg. square ports of the ram and shooting into the runners, for better flow. And show the true #s of head and intake flow...And 10.5:1 on E85 for an iron block daily driver in the desert.
It would be very informative to put both a throttle-body injection system on it, and a sequential-injection as well, to see the potential of each system.
It would be nice to see the numbers from multiple pulls next to each other along with percent difference. The RPM mark where the engine makes 80% of its peak torque and horsepower along with the range that it holds that, would be cool too.
Whst happened to the stroker 408 that made 617 hp on one 950 carb. This single carb setup only hit 572 hp. What gives? Is it the same 408? I'm confused.
What does it mean when you stroke an engine...does it mean you make the piston rods shorter or longer if that is the case then what is better a longer stroke or a shorter stroke ....and what is a gasser??why is it called that ??

What's with the ramp at the end of the runner in the head, see 4:00 ? It completely interferes with the direct shot down the chamber. Now I know why we all use Chevy motors. It's easy to see why everyone ram tunnel rams back in the day! For N/A they are the best.

Link bar lifter setup is vastly superior in strength vs the stock style lifter with the spider/dog bone hold down setup. Never ever seen a solid roller setup with a factory hold down style. Always link bar.

Sbf makes power easier than sbc. Engine masters proved it
original 5.0 in Foxbodies proved that from 1985 to 1993. tons of aftermarket came and went.

Yeah they made more with the setup they took off than with the Holley and dual quads.
Those easy packs need to take off with other manufacturers as well. They will recycle so much easier and use less material to manufacture.
