We need a breakdown of whats in Pat's shirt pocket.
I met him once. First thing I asked was “why the f*** do you have 30 things in your pocket” he laughed. Pretty cool guy actually
Could be it's own series lol
Guess he likes pens
Pens, markers, a magnet, and a ton of Dad jokes….
@@OriginalMomo And the winner is......!
That engine wanted more RPM. 6,000 RPM is big block stuff. 302's like to rev
MORE RPM!!! Power curve was going almost straight up when they shut it off! SPIN that little 3" stroke!
yea, this was horrible testing. More rpm, more fuel,
@@starbattles1 i mean the computer already adds fuel and you dont want to spin a 302 past 6k too much cause they start coming apart trust me i own a fox
@@mustangmadness530 with a professionally balanced rotating assembly there’s no reason you can turn 7000…
@@Texas_Road_Warrior yes but if it’s stock block they won’t hold
@@mustangmadness530 Not true!

Though, they use a Mexican 302 block which should be the strongest of the stock varieties. I would like to see how balanced internals in an H. O. block would do at 7K.
As much as I loved the combination of Pat and Mike, I must admit that Frankie and Pat have truly become an excellent team. Frankie is now much more comfortable in his role, and Pat is jumping with joy, just knowing that he has a cohost who hasn't heard all of his Bad Dad Jokes!
@@bigboreracing356 To the casual viewer, camaraderie adds to the appeal of the show. This isn't a classroom.
@@bigboreracing356 As I implied, casual viewers aren't street racers.
Did Mike leave?
What is a bad dad joke?
Pat and Frankie are a great team. Love the projects they do together!!!
I'm i the only one who watches this on Sunday morning while eating breakfast?
No your not its me the WINNER
Eating breakfast right now!
Tomando mate en Argentina! Saludos.
Nope. Doing it now! lol
No sir. You're not
Pro-tip, on Windsor engines, always, and I mean always put a bit of anti-seize on the longer water pump bolts, you or the next guy will appreciate it, as there's a lot of 302/351s out there missing a water pump bolt, or like mine, have a stud welded in.
That engine is to die for. That will fit perfectly in my 1963 Ford Fairlane
Great job guys. Love that you are doing more and more SBF's. Keep them coming. Love the tricks you show as well.
I remember the trial and errors that we used to do with the Ford 289 with headers and a 500 two barrel. Take the Allen wrench and stick it in the vacuum advance to adjust the total advanced. Those were fun days getting out on the street and everybody thought it was a 289 hypo
Love this build. Sure it doesn’t make loads of power but this is the sort of engine that outlasts owners when properly maintained. You could beat on this thing all day at the drag strip and have no worrries about not being able to make it to work on Monday.
Love to see the old school knowledge come out( watering it)
Wouldn't be an episode without one of Pat's classic bad dad jokes..... thanks for the consistency guys! lol

Pat should have his own show and channel. You just get the feeling that he thinks about valve seat transitions and best stones to use for honing before he falls asleep at night. He is a monster!
Surprised with the tall tunnel ram intake that you didn't take it to 7k. Might have gotten a little more out of it. That's where my little 302 with a tunnel and decent sized cam made the most power.
Typical of a big bore short stroke combo. Chevy 302'S did the same and more.
Just love this channel there's always something you could learn I wish I was live close by you all I would love to work and learn but must say great job 👌👍
One of if not Ford’s greatest creations.
Wow just love watching you guys. I am currently restoring a 1990 Franco F100 sport utility series. To be given to my grandson when I pass. I am working on a budget. It is currently being sandblasted primed and a military undercoating. Beautiful truck only has a hundred and twenty thousand miles on it and was well maintained. Only thing lacking is a fresh motor so that we can pull a camper or both spend some time together. This boy has had it rough abandoned by both parents I am all he has. He is definitely a truck nut. Does not realize the project truck is for him. Everything is in blue tones. Just like that small block Ford.
I love the way Pat cackles at 20 minutes 43 seconds! He knows darn well his old school know-how just paid off!
I have a 93 Bronco that has been sitting around for about 4 year's !!! Could really use an engine to resurrect the Bronco!!! Glad you guy's are on UA-cam I try not to miss any episodes!!! Longtime fan!!!
Great video! Love the Small block Ford content!
Love the small block ford builds
amazing what that water temp difference brought!
This engine will look and work so good in my T-bucket autocross racer.
I’d love to have this engine in my 93 mustang. Nice build
One of my favorite builds was the great white hope ..😂 the 300 6 cylinder.that thing turned out to be an animal.
It's a 400hp build or better pulling it past 6000rpm. It's still climbing pretty hard at shutdown.
Looks like a perfect fit for my 73 Mach .
Would love to have this engine. Of course I would like to have the 351C y'all built awhile back too!
Wish you would do a 351w 427 fuel injucted strocker with a Holley tunnel ram and twin Fi Tech and throttle bodys set up.
Hey.. you guys should do a build on a Dogdge V10 out of a Ram.. see if you can build it to out perform a Viper V10... I've always suspected that you could build a magnum V10 for way less than a used viper engine..
It wouldn't be hard at all, but they weigh like 3x more, full cast iron black and heads. Also the srt10 trucks are actual viper engines so they're out there, and maybe even cheaper than you think.
A friend of mine had the V10 in His truck. He said that His 440 powered race car got better MPG than the truck that pulled it!
@@bigboreracing356 I'm quite aware, but yes you're right.
@@bigboreracing356 why you telling us no one cares
just struck me as a little odd thats all no offence meant by it! hope you have a nice day.
This was a really good episode...
I want to watch this about 2 times at work
I'm taking notes for my 302 I want to build!!
Nice job , love to see a y block overhaul.
So much knowledge in one video 😱
Nice little motor guys! Would be great in my lightweight Mustang notch back!
That was a good little 302! I love the Holley EFI system!
Very nice engine set up, i think my 67 mustang convertible is going to need it 😁
That would be a great power plant for my 66 mustang! I've already got the trans and 9" rearend.
Oh this sweet deal would be perfect for my 68 Cougar. My first car 👍🏻
Love that motor. I miss my 67 fastback.
That's a really nice daily driver hot rod motor.
That is absolutely beautiful.
When will you finish the 300 in-line 6 with a turbo?
If this becomes a give away engine as well, I want the turbo 300!
Amen, I'm working on one and want too add a turbo myself, but wanna see some numbers first!
The 300 cui is the worse of the ford I6's to turbo, apparently the 240 and even the old 200 respond way better to forced induction.
@@bigboreracing356 Oh definitely, but those are not from the same engine family anymore, and available only in Australia.
Yeah!,where is it
Great sbf keep up the great videos thanks
The high ram looks badass on the little 8.2 deck
@@burritocat2018 everybody’s favorite song, hell yeah
Sweet little small block build up, guys. Now let's see what it does to some newer rubber!
Gotta love Fords!
I'm a big fan of the channel and Holley Efi. You should mention to everyone that when tuning and add timing and no improvement you need to back timing back down. Same for fuel, if you lean it our and no difference you need to add that fuel back in. You did both on this one but didn't show putting it back. I sure hope you put it back to give this motor a chance to stay cooler and live longer.
I have an old school 302 (5.0) in an 82 Capri RS 5.0 ( original owner) with 368K miles on this engine. Still passes CA smog!
The terminator x looks amazing to work with. If they had selected less mediocre heads and a real cam shaft this thing would have made serious power
@Frank Bonazza III exactly what I was thinking afr 185s and como xe272hr, probably would have hit 500
Pat, you’re a mechanical genius! Jokes-not so much😆
I have a 5.0 later in my old Ford trucks 87 Ford with 500 thousand miles on it and it still runs like a top
Awesome brother my 96 F150 has a 5.0L (302) Windsor V8 in it with 209,000 miles and still going strong.
Been watching this show and truck u and Spencer Tracy for a long time.
Great video Ford powered forever baby l love it great job fellas
Spin that thing. SBF’s like to rev, especially with those heads and intake.
Doing a resto mod on a 1995 fleetside currently with the 5.0, working the interior first.
That would be a sweet motor when you pop the hood to show it off.
Spin that motor to 6800 .....and put some afr renegades with that cam they should be 7k 450 hp sbf
This. People don't realize not choosing the correct parts that work together and not revving the engine enough can kill horsepower
Nice 302 i want that 351c though in my 80 model ford 150 4x4
Oh that would fit beautifully in my 98 ranger project truck. I planned a 4th Gen hemi swap with the holly efi setup you guys used for the 5.7 hemi build and a pair of Garrett or precision turbos in the bed but winning this would be a game changer 😆
I used to have a 94 Thunderbird LX V8 I loved. I'd love to find another one and put this engine in it. Should be a fairly easy swap since the earlier ones came with 302's as well (but I don't like the interiors in the pre-94 models)
Nice vid tysm guys
I have a 1960 f100 this would go great in.
this in my zephyr on my channel would be PERFECT. ENTERED!! already have an 91 GT 8.8 with 4.10s and SN 95 spindles and SF connectors ready to go in.
When he was explaining that hot oil cold water makes more power and started the pull I smiled just before he did that thing sounded like it was pulling hard and strong and I thought in my head atleast 390hp and maybe 350ft/lb and I was basically right that engine is awesome I hope whomever won it is giving it the lead foot any chance he gets
Man! This would go great with my son and I's 1979 F150 rebuild project.
My 5th gen bronco would love that engine...
Another amazing show and keep the dad jokes coming great job fellas
Pick me, pick me! I would love to put this in my 66 Mustang. Doing engine work right now. Thank you for all the videos. JJH
Great engine
I’d happy give your motor a nice home. I’ve located an old Falcon that super clean. The guy who has it tried swapping over to front disc brakes, and couldn’t find anything that would work. I think there’s got to be something available for that. The other thing he did was to put an AMC rear end in it, and I’m not sure that’s the best option. I’d rather have a 9” or 8.8” with rear disc brakes.
I can't wait to put it in my Camaro !
That is a awesome, awesome and Beautiful Engine. I have a perfect home for it. A 1973 Ford Courier street, strip setup.
I love this stuff
I have a 1971 Maverick grabber that engine would be perfect for.
That would been nice in my 62 Fairlane 500 race car I am redoing. Not run since early 90s. In East Tennessee was and still part of the Sneaky Snake race team.
Perfect for my fox body❤️
That's 302 engine will great swop in my Ford pick up in South Africa
That engine looks
sooooo good I nearly pissed my pants pure autoporn.👍🇭🇲 Id love to see a barra too.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I've always wanted to build a modernized short deck Clevor. Port fuel injection, coil near plug ignition, the works. See if I could go inch for inch with a Coyote.
clevor would give a coyote a good workout if stroked to 408
The graph was still climbing when Pat pulled it back. Based on Comp Cam's advertised peak of 6,300 and the torque, the engine should make 425 hp (assuming enough cylinder head flow). Great build with leftover parts.
That would be sweet if it was mine been trying too get my foxbody to run good again
After i get mad at Motortrend, i found this channel 🙏🏻❤️
I’d love to have that 300 6 sittin in the back
Perfect for my maverick when I finish it.
If you want more hp and torque ie 500 plus for your maverick, watch richard holdeners show on you tube
Take it till it rolls over
Love to drop that in my 93 ranger
O man I need my 302 like that
That would look great in my 67 f100
This would be a really nice powerplant for a cruiser Fox body Mustang or an OBS F-150. Plus, with the Holley Terminator standalone boost would be a great option for this small block.
on a stock 302 block i'd avoid the boost with .060" overbore, would have made way more sense to start with a 351W
How would you connect that ecm/ecu to an E4OD transmission in an OBS F-150?
Love the dad jokes🤣🤣🤣
There was a person fired for sleeping with clients, they were a mortician.
Y'all make a right pretty Blue Oval smallblock.
Give that thing some RPM!
That would look great in my OBS F150.
I love this n my 302 1986 Lincoln t car
That engine would be perfect in my 93 F150 4x4, it’s very similar to the one in my Foxbody besides the holley equipment
I have a cobra motor in my 94 f150. Its pretty sweet.
They put a CNC 205 head on the LS that flows over 300 cfm and then put a 170 performer head that flows 230 cfm on the Ford and can't even make 400 hp. I'm a Ford guy and this engine wouldn't be a bad street performer but the 302 Ford can make alot more than that. I would love to go on there and show them how to make 450 hp from a 302.
They did a 347" SBF not so long ago and at the 500HP mark they had to go to an aftermarket block so would have made more sense for them to use a 351W based engine if you wanted stock for stock, they would have made over 400HP easily and had more torque to back up the HP. they said the EFI will handle more which is great but if you wanted to do turbo or supercharger then the block becomes the weak link at .060" over i'd pass and used the stock crankshaft another cringe. you can do all of this stuff but does it make sense when your whole foundation for your house is made of popsicle sticks and gorilla glue?
450? 302? At what rpm? Exactly..
450? 302? At what rpm? Exactly..
I have some older World Roush heads. I can't remember the model. I've got a 88 moosetang. I can never decide if to build the 302 I love, stroke it, or go 351 stroker. I want to keep efi on this.
