I wonder. And WR was/is one of my favorites, but they seem like they may have been the “warm-up” ensemble for the Syndicate?!? Grieving Wayne Shorter right now. His talent will never be forgotten or replaced.
@@susanjohnson2068 They were both great, with completely different styles. The Syndicate is much more rhythm based, but I do agree, the magic Joe was able to create with the Syndicate is out of this world.

Zawinul, truly a third-worlder. I wonder if if it was ever argued to him that third-world cultures are backwards and inferior and that his admiration was misguided? He would probably have responded by saying that there are more important things than material things, trade, industry, economy etc. i.e only feelings matter. He was an artist afterall. Zawinul, truly a believer in the oneness of mankind.
I think talent like his and ability for “fellow” talent happens very rarely. Plus his music continued to grow, mature and change. He is greatly missed but will be remembered for generations.
