Just a tidbit for the record I am the man that set up the first stage for the event of the very first Miles Davis concert held in Frank Holten Park in East St. Louis.
Great Lamonte something to be very proud of a lot of work and the very foundation for the performers etc I had a couple of friends mentors in that band DMJ percussionist to name one
I had the honor to be at this concert. From about 1980 to 1990 I attended every Miles concert possible. Man do I miss those days, especially Montreux , hanging out at the Casino on the lake for two weeks, full of music everywhere!
Miles would call you a musician of the highest order. To hear and appreciate the nuances of his music requires focus and a history of study which only attendance can grant. If you fell within Miles’ purview he would seek you out if your carriage and mannerisms suggested a feel and understanding of the music and a play a series of notes and pronounced emotional outlays that conveyed a magical connection of spiritual communication often lost by critics of his later music. Transformation often identified the purpose and goal of Miles’ music.
@@danyelle8856 GRAZIE!! MILES DAVIS.......MILES AHEAD!!! EVERYTIME I LISTEN, I DISCOVER NEW THINGS IN HIS MUSIC!!! IN YEAR 2O21........ AND IN MY SECOND LIFE!!!
I saw Miles in NZ with a similar band (w Kenny Garrett n Marilyn Mazur) it was unbelievable. He is a genius of the highest order who explored the awesome beauty, power and spirit of black music from 1945 till his death in 1991 Moe mai te kingi
One of my favorites as well. But Miles had many great concerts in his last few years. Listen to Hamburg 1987, for example. I think that 1987 and 1989 were particularly good years for Miles live.
Eye love this whole performance so much! All musicians are so groovy together, a great bite of improvisation! And Chaka's part is so lovebale, Eye start crying being touched by that challenge being taken in a loving and harmonic way, just love it. Thanks for this footage, thanks to Miles, the genious wizard, all the musicians, to Chaka Khan and her beautiful witch voice, all this is pure magic, thanks, thanks, thanks! RIP Miles Davis, my hero, my favourite musician of all times whom Eye never got the chance to see live but whose spirit is always there in my life, thank you!
The end of Wrinkle is incredible and intense! Love the sixteenth note baseline with what sounds like an octave pedal, like some kind of psychedelic fever dream. Many folks are critical of his late period work and I’m personally not a fan of his studio albums from this period, but this particular concert is terrific, great “social music.”
Miles D'avis for ever !!
Miles electronically was Miles at his most creative. The unlimited sounds that could be synthesized and yes, the greater new talent able to use them like never before, made it a musical Disneyland for Miles
one of my favorite incarnations and periods. love the Amandla album. love foley and Ricky. missing Kenny Garrett. love that mostly new material was played and it's a longer set. anybody hating on this doesn't know real Music my real musicians. just my opinion.
Adam, Ricky, Foley mainstays during his Tutu/Amandla era. Rick Margitza did excellent replacing the legend Kenny Garrett for this European leg of the tour.

pazzesco. miles. !!!!!!!!! e i suoi giannizzeri ? che bestie cazzo ! io li ho visti. mostri. suonatori serissimi
The only one capable of making jazz music "popular" trough time (decades)
I fatto che tra circa due anni morirà rende questo video ancora più emozionante. Grazie Miles!
I saw Miles Davis 1990. Unforgettable!!!!!
Miles really invested in his trumpet skin
Miles, the man, the visionary.
Just imagining the amount of time put in for rehearsal scares me. Perfect harmony, integration. High level of professionalism
Immenso Miles, tutte le volte che ti sento,mi illumini...

Name a more iconic entertainer than Miles...go ahead i'll wait
Captain Beefheart… Your wait is over. Miles Smiles 👍
Saxophone player and the band saves the day …davis’ mute sound is overused and annoying… nice outfit though.
