This is probably the cleanest and most useful Packet Mod I've seen thus far, and one that I would actually consider taking the time to imitate as closely as possible. It would be awesome if there was a way to hide the extra cords behind the wooden top plate, but other than that, it's darn near perfection! thanks for taking the time to show us the details of the build brotha!
dude! this is awesome! I'm a mechanic, have been for 15 years, Love Milwaukee tools and let me just say disregard the "naysayers".. this is purely genius and awesome in every way. liked and subscribed. props dude! 👌
Great concept put into action! I absolutely dig this! I am an electrician who does about 85% home service calls and having this setup would be great, because everything is contained into one low-space package, allowing someone to move it wherever they need it when they need to, without having loose chargers and cords hanging out for customers to trip over in their own home, or their animals to play with or chew on!! Love it!!! Definite sharing this with my friends and co-workers!! Thank you for sharing!!
That is the best charging station I have seen !!!!!! So many people leave there batteries out in the van those cold winter months. You are doing everyone that watch’s this a great service. Keep up the GREAT work !!
At the start of the video I was already impressed! And the struts help it stays up and not being wobbly or closing itself if it was knocked by accident
Great tutorial and a good concept for the people that use their pack outs at job sites, I saw your post on a Facebook group originally and saved it to go back and watch it but the UA-cam algorithm had the video for me
you did a great job. very well thought out. I really like the gas struts idea, I don't know any way I would personally improve it. you hit the nail on the head
I don’t know why some people would be upset with these decisions. It’s a great build and as you said makes things very convenient. Great build man. I’d love to out this to use. Good luck everyone
3D printing keeps working its way into packout mods more and more. It's a great way to mod adapters for other brands and to make compartments for inside to efficiently store parts and tools. I'm slowly learning how to design parts myself
There's always gonna be those guys that think their preferences are better than yours. If you have a different idea then great. Do that yourself. Would I do it a bit different? Sure, but there's absolutely nothing wrong with what he did for the final product. It's pretty crafty and slick. Good job dude!
i had previously screwed my charger to the holes in the lid and it worked but barley. This is a much more thought out set up to move and. large batteries. Will definitely be making my own if I'm not lucky enough to get that one. Keep thinking outside the box!
Proud Milwaukee nerd ! The quality power and dependability of their stuff outstanding. I know it's not Ryobi, my first choice (not) ha ha . You get what you pay for !
Thank you for this video. I would use this at work daily. The only thing I might change, would possibly be the electrical plug, however until using it...... I might add LEDs around the inside of the top around the chargers. So I could see it better in a dark room.
Yeah, I could see that being a preference. I was back and forth on changing it to use a traditional extension instead, but this way there isn't an extension to lose. The led idea isn't bad at all, although the chargers are pretty bright themselves.
Screw what haters have to say, that’s very INNOVATIVE bro, I could’ve never thought about that, I wish I was as talented as you are, I like your idea a lot! 🦾💯
Nice and Clean, good work. Only thing I would add is a couple charger cords into the power strip for charging phones or Bluetooth speakers but that doesn't require a box mod.
Nice DYI walk through. I like that you explained why you did things your way, one setup isn't going to work for everyone or please everyone's aesthetic, I do like that 3d printed latch.
Yeah, this is one of those project that could be done 100 different ways. That's why I made the video, so whoever wants to can take the concept and modify to their own liking.
I love this idea as I also use M12 and M18 batteries. I love the lack of clutter for chargers and batteries and conveniently located in one box. I wouldn't change anything and if don't win yours I will be building one for myself. Thanks for the idea!
Well done video. I jusy got started getting into the milwaukee fuel and packout lineup. We need more videos like this one showing great ideas that end users have thought of that Milwaukee didn't. They should adopt this design and pay you a royalty. 👍
very awesome just ordered the gas struts to start my own build! I will probably use a male bulkhead plug and just keep a small coil extension cord in the box
That's a nice design. I like the lift assist. Makes it open easy and holds it open to give air flow for the chargers. Having the cord going through the side keeps it neat and easy access. The outlet keeps the plug from getting damaged while not being used and someplace to get extra power if you need it to say charge your phone. Nice design I wouldn't mind one. You could adapt it easily for other tool chargers too
Awesome build planning to model this and pass on to my coworkers. Having a changer station/battery holder is vital in the rough CO winters where they destroy your tools. Keep innovating!
I love it the only thing I would change is the grommet the plug wire goes through I know they make tighter ones but maybe the plug won't fit through it. I like it all and all though.
That’s a handy little build, I really like it! As an industrial electrician, that would work perfect to keep my batteries charged along with easy access to them when it’s time to swap them out. I wheel my pack out set to the work area and work directly out of it.
This is next level thinking. It's freaking awesome. As much as I really want to win the one your giving away, it's probably too late. So I'm really glad you made it easy to make for others. I appreciate it. One more thing milwaukee makes many different sizes for packouts what else or any other ideas to use to do like 3 or more charging station.
Awesome video and clean installation instructions. Honestly couldn’t think of anything else you can do to the box. Very clean and fits perfect with any packout set up! Definitely would love to have this with my set up!
Cool idea but I agree with the male outlet in that back. For my use I’d be more concerned with weather tightness. I’d just keep a dedicated extension cord in the box.
Very clean.... My only changes would be staining the wood black rather than the brown and then having a black power cord but that's just the OCD of me! Very clean congratulations!!!
Awesome build. I’m loving the 3D printed handle it really looks original. The only thing I could honestly think that could be changed is maybe a black power strip. Honestly a cool idea bro.
Very cool mod. Great video, great supply list. I added an IEC power inlet with lighted switch, USB A and C charging on the side of the box, and and extra outlet. I'd post pictures if I only knew how.
Only improvements I could see is a small trim on the top of the inside dividers so you can close the lid while battery are on the charger. And a way to put a pad lock or some lock on the lid so I can secure the batteries from being stolen easily. super dope idea might have to make it myself!
Looks great. Love the lifts to keep the top open that’s genius. The only thing I can think of to add would be a couple usb charging ports to the side or back so you can charge your phone etc. without having to have the lid open also a different grommet for the cord to keep it more sealed and ideally waterproof.
Those holes in the lid correspond with the holes on the back of the chargers. Put a screw part way in then you can have your charger on it, as you would the if they were on the wall.
I like the idea of bringing in the box in winter like you suggested. I'm in Wisconsin and have run into cold batteries before. One thing that you could add, is that outlet you had added in back to hold the plug, could be connected inside to that 3 port extension you cord. That way it serves both as a cord holder when stored and another plug when you're charging.
Very nicely done. Since you already gave this away, I will have to use some of your idea and piece this together myself. I will work on a way to reduce the size of the lower hole that you have a grommet in because I just don’t want to have such a large hole in it. Somehow maintaining the low profile plug that comes on that style cord. Anyway good job and thanks for the video. Oh and mine will just have one of those chargers because that is all I have (I own 3 M18 batteries - 3, 5, and 6Ah) and over a dozen M12 batteries. Might have to measure my 4 port sequential M12 charger and use a different box that I can fit that charger on along with the dual charger. Great now I have more projects…
That's very cool. the pack out has been a game changer for my work. I love watching these types of videos that get my brain juices flowing. I love trying to do the same things with my system. thanks so much
No problem. Our guys started buying them on their own dollar and the bosses saw enough productivity increase that they actually gave us a credit to pay us back for it. Most of us just bought more! 😆
Nice! Love the concept, and your explanation for the "extras". I would have liked to see what the cable management looks like inside the box, though. Keep the videos coming!
Been fiddling around with my packout setup yesterday and my OCD decided to binge packout vids and stumbled across this vid. Awesome mod and great sensible thinking on the reasoning of why you made the alterations you made. To give my quirky feedback, I would've gone with a black extension cord instead of the white, since the white will start getting dirty quick, but that's really trivial in terms of a future consideration for another mod. Does not take away from the extreme thought you put into this. I'm in a cold weather state, and I mounted a battery mount to the front of my crate so when winter comes, I'll have to pull my crate off and bring it inside to avoid battery damage. Not the most feasible setup, but could be way worse. Keep creating and sharing. 👍
Thanks for the feedback! It would also theme better that way. I'm glad you found this video so maybe you can work something out that'll be good for you.
Neat concept! As My Kits are the biggest part of My job. I appreciate the improvements You've made from Your first chargingbox. I would incorporate My other brand of charger for versatility.
That’s great, need something like this. Only thing I would change my self is shorter cords so your not wasting so much space with extra cord. Really perfect tho. Thanks for the video.
I could possibly shorten the charger cords, and now I probably will. That's a good point. I wouldn't want to shorten the extension any at all. It's only 3ft as is.
I think you did a really good job. I did a similar thing myself, I’m on the Bosch eco system so it was in an ‘L-Boxx’. (I actually prefer the pack outs, but a lot of my tools come in the L-Boxx’s). An extra thing I added was an 18v-120v inverter which is useful for usb power and low draw 120v devices. I also got a usb heat pad to keep my batteries warm when working in the winter(I live in Canada🥶), then it’s easy to take the whole thing in over night.
Great idea! I’ve seen similar with the large rolling box, but when you mentioned bringing the batteries in on cold nights this is way easier to bring in the house than the rolling cart. Thanks!
awesome idea! but could you do a low profile extension chord wranglers on the back to keep the chord to the packout, or one that loops the chord around the chargers on the inside so you have the reach for when outlets are scarce and switch the female to a male plug so you can use any extension chord?
Great idea. Only concern would be on the way the struts are mounted in the box. With the constant stress eventuality the screws might strip out of the plastic. Maybe a filler piece inserted in the hollow Chanel for something to hole the screws better.
Because the load is only pushing perpendicular to the screws, or directly into the back, I don't think it'll be a problem. It wouldn't be hard to add that filler piece though, not. Abad thought. We will see how long it holds up. Currently 6weeks in from the original build and it looks good.
thats really sweet. i have a 46 inch milwaukee tool box and have the chargers mounted on the side with my pakcout system next to it, thing is it doesnt look as sleek in comparison to this because of the cables being hung. but this would be a sweet addition to what i currently have on my packout!
Wire the plug receptacle on the back of the box to the third plug on your triple tap on the inside of the box. That way when you plug the charging station to the wall you don’t lose access to an outlet. Now you can plug in your Milwaukee radio charge another battery and your phone with usb, or an extension cord to a 360, tower, or rocket lMilwaukee light while only using one job site plug.
Very clean very well thought out excellent implementation and hopefully it can pay dividends if you patented any of your modifications. Thank you for all of your work and time taken to design and fabricate, and ultimately share your project with us, the viewers. The only modification I think I would suggest , would be to change the wood to a ufmh plastic material for longevity and durability, and it would eliminate the step of staining because it comes in black. Also, you can use a router to cut the chase for the top cord
Great video! Living in Canada, I've been thinking of ways to do exactly what you just did you keep my batteries warm during the winter months. The only thing I would really change is the extension cord to black for looks and possibly a different case to hold more batteries, but all in all a very sleek system!
Nice concept well planed and executed the only thing i would add is a wall over the struts so they do not interfere with batterys or leads in the back compartments other than that well done.
Good work Boss! There is not much improvement to this mod that I can process. I think it was well thought out and it is noticed by how in depth you went about how and why you did what you did! Keep it up man and looking forward to seeing your next creations.
I don't like the use of standard chargers and not rapid chargers. I feel like they are crap free chargers included with any kit. Only some kits get the rapid chargers but they are much better. There's even dual 18v rapid chargers and 18v superchargers. Also I need my upper compartment for 12v batteries in that box. Another also, I don't like open boxes. They are dust collectors that also invite thieves to take an inventory. Mostly the dust, though.
I think this is a great idea. I love it. I use the same Milwaukee chargers. I would love a set up like this. It would come in very handy. Especially during the winter.
I would love to have this. I currently have a couple of chargers and about a dozen of batteries and keeping track of them all gets a little crazy. Maybe add a LED light so when you open the lid you could see your batteries better.
A great way to find mounting holes in back of charger is to put peice of 2"painters tape over hole mark tape were holes are take tape off place tape were ur gonna mount charger
awesome concept and than execution's, curious if the pack out wall charger mounts break cutdown would of been an easier solution instead for the two screws to hold the charger and wood plate .
Really like the project easy way to have all of the battery’s together only thing I’d change is the extension lead but that’s just because I’m in the uk
I like the over all design, particularly the use of the struts which are fantastic. But there are a few tweaks I would probably make. The first one that came to mind, was that maybe I want to charge with the lid closed, with something else stacked on top. You could cut some holes in the side of the Packout and attach standard PC cooling fans for airflow allowing the box to be closed while still in use, you can even put some filter material over the openings to prevent it from sucking in a ton of dust. The other thing is that the cable might be convenient in some ways, but I think it would end up inconvenient in others. I would probably opt for a C13 socket on the back, and put a couple of cord wrapping hooks inside the case to store a cable. My key rationale for this, is that I would almost certainly want a power distribution system for my Packout stack - such as a power bar mounted to the wheeled bottom box or hand truck. In such a case, I would keep a standard C13 cord connected to the power bar so that I could plug in my charging station but could easily unplug from the back of the charging station and move it without needing to find where the other end of the cord plugged in. Finally, when I saw the dummy plug I initially thought you were going to do something slightly different than what you did. That extension cord you had had 3 outlets but you only needed two. You could actually run a short extension from the third outlet to an externally mounted socket just to give yourself an extra place to plug something else in.
I was confused what the female outlet was connected to but it was just a holder for the power strip. Also if you want to make the hole for the power strip smaller make cut the cable half way and then reconnect them with solder or cable nuts? Very interesting way to keep batteries and chargers organized on the go.
Thanks for the inspiration, I took a smaller one and just store the batteries to also bring in on those cold nights. Will definitely look at building one!👍🏻
This idea is super awesome. The only thing I would change would probably be to the cable, like having the cable be black, and possibly have it extend out longer having some little spring inside to coil and retract it back in
Guess great minds think alike, I just picked up a compact packout tool box for this exact same project. Little different cable management and an aluminum charger base plate seem to be our only point of divergence. Great video thanks for sharing your ideas!
Thank you! There may be. There isn't much space so it would probably require routing an 's' pattern in the back to set the cord in.
Jeff, you are the winner of this Packout Charge Station! Comment here and we'll work out shipping.
@@ironpixeldesigns Amazing!!! You are my hero!!!! Thank you good Sir!!!

@@ironpixeldesigns hey probably won't see this but replacing the extension cord with a auto retractable one would be cool and stronger structs

Love it!!!

Thanks you very much! I'm glad you enjoyed it and see the value.
That is the best charging station I have seen !!!!!! So many people leave there batteries out in the van those cold winter months. You are doing everyone that watch’s this a great service. Keep up the GREAT work !!
I don't think most people realize the cold is bad for them.
You got that right !!!!
At the start of the video I was already impressed! And the struts help it stays up and not being wobbly or closing itself if it was knocked by accident
Probably the only reason I'd buy a pack out, battery sprawl is real. Great job.
Great tutorial and a good concept for the people that use their pack outs at job sites, I saw your post on a Facebook group originally and saved it to go back and watch it but the UA-cam algorithm had the video for me
Hah, UA-cam knows what you need!
This is great. Your voice is like radio people so clear and the depth you explain the process is wonderful.
Thanks! I appreciate that. I went through a lot of effort to make it clear.
That is a really legit idea. There are several packout mods out there but that by far seems the most practical and useful.
you did a great job. very well thought out. I really like the gas struts idea, I don't know any way I would personally improve it. you hit the nail on the head

Great idea! those that live in warm areas don't understand the struggle of keeping batteries warm.
No we don't. I'm in central California and I'm constantly trying to figure out ways to keep my batteries in the shade. 🤣
Best ammo box charging station I’ve seen! Atta boy for starting your UA-cam journey. Can’t wait to see more

Nice and Clean, good work. Only thing I would add is a couple charger cords into the power strip for charging phones or Bluetooth speakers but that doesn't require a box mod.
Its a pretty brilliant idea and well present. Broke down the instruction well. Wouldn't change a thing.

those stand offs are so you can hang those chargers on the lid when the pack out is secured.
If you use those pre done holes, you can only fit one charger.
you can mount the chargers right to the lid, thats what the screw holes are for, but its still super cool, i dig the struts and plug in the back
I love it the only thing I would change is the grommet the plug wire goes through I know they make tighter ones but maybe the plug won't fit through it. I like it all and all though.

The video actually makes it look more brown than it is. I used ebony stain, which is very black in reality.
That’s awesome
Improvement idea
Cut the cord
Stacon and heat srink the cord back together.
I think that's the ticket right there.
Awesome build. I’m loving the 3D printed handle it really looks original. The only thing I could honestly think that could be changed is maybe a black power strip. Honestly a cool idea bro.
Dude! Milwaukee should pay you for this idea! Very very well done!
Very cool mod. Great video, great supply list. I added an IEC power inlet with lighted switch, USB A and C charging on the side of the box, and and extra outlet. I'd post pictures if I only knew how.
Those are things I thought about adding as well. That's the nice thing about this project- it's configurable for specific needs.
Can the lid be closed when 2 chargers are charging?
Only improvements I could see is a small trim on the top of the inside dividers so you can close the lid while battery are on the charger. And a way to put a pad lock or some lock on the lid so I can secure the batteries from being stolen easily. super dope idea might have to make it myself!
You wouldn't want to close it without adding ventilation. There would be too much heat buildup.
Love it!
Like the fact that it combines my battery storage and charging station.
Just earned another subscriber.
Thanks for the sub! That's the idea, there's nothing else to keep track of.
Well done! I found this after seeing your latch on Printables, so I searched for the box you designed it for. Super cool and useful mod.
Looks great. Love the lifts to keep the top open that’s genius. The only thing I can think of to add would be a couple usb charging ports to the side or back so you can charge your phone etc. without having to have the lid open also a different grommet for the cord to keep it more sealed and ideally waterproof.
I think I have to do that now, many requests for USB addition
Those holes in the lid correspond with the holes on the back of the chargers. Put a screw part way in then you can have your charger on it, as you would the if they were on the wall.
Very thorough instructions and I have seen some like these but I love your extension cord idea
I love it, what a very versatile and great way to store and protect the batteries from the extreme temps. Plus a way keep them topped off when needed.
its a good idea. The struts make all the difference
Neat video! I would change the cord storage and simplify it by removing the power bar and making a cord wrap for the back.
Thanks. The biggest potential problem with that is on some stacks, you wouldn't have the clearance for a cord wrap on the back.
I like that idea. I think I may add that. The cold is the #1 killer of batteries here as well. Most people don't think about it.
Well done. There no better tools than the ones you excited to use! And it feel like this set up is and exciting one!
Damn just say this!! Perfect for m12 m18!! Love it for the motorcycle shop!!
Very nicely done. Since you already gave this away, I will have to use some of your idea and piece this together myself.
Great idea. Only concern would
be on the way the struts are mounted in the box.
Exactly this, no need to waste a perfectly good receptacle!
What a great concept. This would be so handy for onsite. Nice touch with the front latch!
Good video.
Yeah I don't have a huge amount of batteries so that's not a problem for me. The black would definitely look better.
Beautiful.. I think a diamond plate would look pretty cool instead of wood! And a black cord of course. Thanks for the idea my friend!
Nice concept well planed and executed the only thing i would add is a wall over the struts so they do not interfere with batterys or leads in the back compartments other than that well done.
I'm not sure how you would go about that as they travel to the front a bit, though not much.
I like it. The one thing I see with such a big hole in the back is dirt and water could get in and that is right were you have the power strip
Thats a very clean way to charge and store batteries
I just built this set up today!!! Thank you.
Been trying to find a charging pack out system. This is a great concept.
Cool idea. I would add electronic/instruments heater to keep the batteries warm during the cold Canadian winter
this is great, im definitely doing this but adding a small warming pad since it gets a bit chilly in my neck of the woods
I'm astounded by your creativity... I was looking at that same packout box for charger/battery storage for by milwaukee stuff
awesome concept and than execution's, curious if the pack out wall charger mounts break cutdown would of been an easier solution instead for the two screws to hold the charger and wood plate .
oh boy I'm late to the party haha I'm just starting the Milwaukee tool and pack out collection. the goal is the master collection
Really like the project easy way to have all of the battery’s together only thing I’d change is the extension lead but that’s just because I’m in the uk
Great Content. I Enjoy This type of DIY content. You take an already awesome product and improve it 10 fold.. keep up the Great work..
Thanks!
Awesome build. I seriously appreciate all the thought and design features you made. Very nice my good sir! 👍
Pretty cool idea! I like the idea of being able to have all your batteries in one spot to bring in in the winter.
Great lil charging station I’m in the process of doing something as well thank you for the tips !!
No problem!
This is the most productive idea I’ve seen
I was confused what the female outlet was connected to but it was just a holder for the power strip. Also if you want to make the hole for the power strip smaller make cut the cable half way and then reconnect them with solder or cable nuts? Very interesting way to keep batteries and chargers organized on the go.
Yeah, that would be one way to do it. I would probably use butt joints or something simple if I did it again.
Thanks for the inspiration, I took a smaller one and just store the batteries to also bring in on those cold nights. Will definitely look at building one!👍🏻
This idea is super awesome. The only thing I would change would probably be to the cable, like having the cable be black, and possibly have it extend out longer having some little spring inside to coil and retract it back in
Lol, so many people have mentioned the cable color! I never even considered it.
Very clean and elegant solution. Love it. I see a build of this in my near future. Thanks for sharing, Cameron.
Guess great minds think alike, I just picked up a compact packout tool box for this exact same project. Little different cable management and an aluminum charger base plate seem to be our only point of divergence. Great video thanks for sharing your ideas!
Thanks! If you want the latch, I just added teh 3D printable files to the video description.
Wow awesome job!!! Really like how it turned out.
Personally I think it's functional and convenient. I think the struts are a bit much but I can't knock it either, great job 👏
