International Women’s Week and I’m so excited to be working with a young female entrepreneur whose ethically sourced, sustainable blankets are like no other.
This is a paid-for collaboration with Forestry Wool, and each blanket ordered comes with a free wool comb, which is great for keeping the blanket fresh and pull-free (handy for any wool clothing pieces too). The wool is from New Zealand, but the company is based in The Netherlands, and there are no DUTIES or customs charges for sending to the UK.

Sorry in adv for rant but I feel the BBC have behaved appallingly. They must know that the night shift is for younger folk. It’s tantamount to constructive dismissal because they must realise you will have to walk if you can’t keep up. Put your health first Jo but I can appreciate a terribly difficult decision for you. 100% agree! I think to make life more manageable, take transport into work, Asthma hates cold air! Ones health is far more important and you have lots of fabulous memories to enjoy 🇦🇺💐
Sometimes, a money hit is necessary to get on your right path. I did it a couple of years ago, and I studied. Not where I want to be yet, but the job I was in, was literally draining the life out of me. I hope you enjoy your new journey and wish you the best.

Jo, I'm 69 and at a huge cross-roads in my own life. At our ages, we carry on as though we're in our 40's, with our duties. Yet, whether we like it or not, even with caring for our health and watching our diets, there is no denying that our bodies can't quite keep up with our minds. I'm glad you spoke of your own cross-roads. You've become quite successful will make the right decision. I, like you, tend to "fly by the seat of my pants". You took a chance on your you-tube channel and look what's developed!

Oh Jo, watching this blog I really felt for you - you looked so fed up and down and I know that's not you. You're always so upbeat and jolly. During the lockdown you carried us all through it wonderfully with your afternoon show and I think it's criminal that the BBC moved you to this difficult night time slot. You could write columns for papers, join another station, guest present/field journalist on your UK morning/news shows, podcast, all kinds of things, Jo! Never let age etc stop you from letting everyone know you're sooo qualified & see what a gem you truly are... they just need to watch your yt channel!!! Also, love how you championed a NZ brand! As a journo, was thinking exactly this, watching you, Jo. So many opportunities out there and you already have the experience, contacts etc. Don't be tied down by the known. You've so much more to give that might be more of a joy, less of a stress. Not a slippery slope to let go if you've prepped. x
Working at night is just too much, especially for a 'day person' like you, you need ALL the sleep you can get Jo, you're a morning person. Sleep is needed for our brains, bodies, all.. Jo, I can hear the heartbreak in your voice about the conflict regarding the the love of your job and the actually working hours. I think you’ve made your decision.
May I just say, I carried on with my work and ignored everything (even my Doctors and Consultants telling me I must stop) at the cost of my health. It’s not worth it. In the end I had no choice but to retire on the grounds of ill health.
Our health is precious - without it we really have a poorer quality of life.
You’ll make the right decision for you. You’ll also find a new lease of life. When one door closes another door opens, my friend.

People love you because you’re honest. Moan and questioning and wondering out loud to your loyal viewers is like having coffee with lots of friends who love you, even though we’ve never met. You do what you need to do. Praying helps!

You may not think that tailored trouser suit look is your "style", but it's actually the most flattering outfit I've seen on you. It's sophisticated, gives you height, and makes you look ideally proportioned.. Small slim women look best in well-tailored outfits.

That's what I was thinking some employers will listen and find another slot. These days I wonder if these things are done on purpose to give the employer no choice. There are other radio stations that we would move along to. They should snap Jo up immediately shouldn't they. 🥰

Now here’s how far you reach. I was teaching a hand spinning class in Melbourne (it’s what I do 😆) and after chatting and then mentioning you during my beginners spinning class, one of my students was a subscriber! We bonded instantly… because of you. You reach far and wide Jo! Take care dear Jo🤗🤗

Make the decision before the health makes it for you
You're not moaning Jo at all. Asthma can be so debilitating as well as frustrating. Your health is more important than anything. Everyone thinks you are just amazing,and you produce fabulous vlogs, even if you are just at home,snuggled up with Myrtle,whom I have just had hysterics watching,they are brilliant Jo. Take great care of yourself love.
May sound like a cliché, but life is way too short for doing things you don't have to. Your channel is fabulous and fills people with happiness and inspiration. You are a little bit of luxury in everyone's week You are a stylish go getter and long may it continue! I think this is definitely your plan B.👍
With the wool blanket Jo, I would recommend once summer arrives and it’s too hot to use, I would defiantly clean it, put some lavender drops on it and store it in a vacuum bag till winter. Suggesting this because I know you have had problems with moths eating your favorite clothes and that blanket would be a nice gourmet meal for the moth larvae to much on and you don’t want a mothademic on your hands😄🦋🍽️ x

Jo I just have to write I am 79 and was made to retire at 65 . You are such an asset to the BBC and they are not appreciating you, as others have said here your health comes first whatever the future may bring you have such capacity to bring the joy out of every last moment, older women are in more demand than ever in history, a more diverse way of spreading your talents would be so enjoyable, let everyone know you are available. Dear Jo, you are such a trooper but I completely understand your dilemma. I am nearly 62 and worked in hospitality for many years which meant strange hours but I really could not work late at night now and wouldn't want to. You are so clearly a morning person - I remember how happy you used to be in your vlogs when setting off for a crack of dawn yoga class, filling your day and then naturally winding down for a reasonable bed time. You are a lark not an owl. I feel your asthma is moving you to the right decision for you - your health and happiness is everything and a daytime radio show would be so much better for you. Hey Jo I've been watching you since the pandemic. You looked amazing in that suit. But to be honest there last bit of the vlog made my heart sad.. seeing you walking into work trying to remain upbeat like you always are was difficult. Your face told a different story. As beautiful as you are you looked tired.. I hope you work things out. Since the changed your slot I haven't listened to the station during the day.. I think there was an injustice there and it's wrong. X

Love your interview style. You must include a ‘Chewing the Fat’ style segment. They are fun and interesting. I don’t think you would have any problems also finding interesting people to have a chat session with about their lives. Doggy chats. People, places things. Health, Exercise, Food, life. Etc! And David! 😛 I definitely think there is a niche for you doing this. x
Give the job up Jo your health is much more important. You are brilliant at showing us what London has to offer so be an online tour guide. Move down to Sussex near your Mum and just come to London several times a week. Time for a change. x

After ending up on an oxygen machine in hospital a few months ago, I was diagnosed with adult-onset asthma. Totally out of the blue and with no previous breathing issues. I am 60, not working, flying solo and wondering what to do for the best. Money is v tight but my health comes first. I feel strongly that quality of life is what counts most. Wishing you the best in making your own decisions. It's not easy. gillian

That pink pant suit is glorious on you and I love the blanket. Regarding your work hours, I completely understand. I'm also a morning person and my bedroom faces the front of the building which means horns honking, construction, deliveries being made, etc. I'm up so it's ok but if I had to get my rest during those hours, I would be frustrated and tired. Too funny, my husband and I just had this conversation this morning about health is everything and how when we were little our grandparents said that and we would think, yeah yeah and now that we're 60 and 61, we think health is everything and life is becoming too short to be doing something you're no longer happy doing. ❤️❤️🇨🇦
