That shrimp salad you are eating for lunch actually contains a mix of crayfish tails and shrimp. So that is probably why it taste more crab-like. We eat a lot of crayfish here in Sweden but mainly when it's in season in August.
Mark I have always appreciated the fact that no matter how short of a stay you are having, you always make an effort to research. You try to speak some words of the language and you really just try to immerse yourself. I traveled quite a bit when I was younger and the worst thing was people that hated everything because "It's not like X" (insert their country) Sweden looks absolutely gorgeous! I am really enjoying this series.
As a member of the native Swedish speaking community, I'd like to formally invite people who are of other native language to adopt the word Fika into your native vocabulary. It has proven to use to spark joy. Many of us in this part of the world owe our lives to fika, as it was an important beginning of our parents relationships which led to us being born. LOL.
I love how happy your wife looks everytime you point the camera at her. And how she's your personal camera woman and is patient to let you try the dishes first(I'm assuming for the video/explanation for the audience sake) God bless y'all always!!!
It's a beautiful video today. The scenery and the food was all beautiful, and the rain added a nice feel too. It's the first Sweden video where I felt I'd want to eat the food you had. And I'm also loving the "Fika" thing. I'm addicted to coffee with a snack. Nice one Mark. Thanks to you both.
It's crayfish and prawns in the salad. The crayfish looks like lobster! Loving this trip so much! Loved Rome as I went for my 30th and it was bringing me lots of lovely memories back.
I'd give it a two thumbs up if I could. All the food looked amazing, especially the shrimp dishes. Thank you Mark & Ying for turning a dreary gray Berlin day into an enjoyable one.
This is my second or third time wat hing these travel around the world episodes. Each time I learn something new. I do have to say that I really enjoy seeing and hearing Ying. I know now she is busy with your son but I do enjoy her opinion. Thank you!
The "stringy shrimp or crab" are actually crawfish tails :-) Great video Mark, one thing to get used to for sure is the price though, its pretty much the same here in Denmark. Cheers!
Mark, I just started watching your videos, & im now addicted! Your friendliness & positivity is what caught my attention. Way to go, & I can't wait to see more! 😃😃😃
hi Mark love following since I first 'discovered' your vlog on UA-cam,. like what Claudia mentioned it's always nice to see your wife, Ying do her cameo appearances in your vlog but sometimes she seems a little sad?..no offence but maybe a suggestion that you use....give Ying a chance to host a vlog on her own with you appearing in cameo! I think all your fans plus Ying would enjoy that! keep vlogging... Godbless....
Mark, you are a delight to watch...not only is your smile amazing, but also your eyes, because they smile just the same. Never change that. Happy travels!
I did not know about the "fika" tradition when I visited Sweden. However, I got coffee and pastry from one store and thought "fika" is a brand name for something:-)) Enjoyable !
Mark just started watching your videos and I'm hooked!!! Lol love the way you describe everything and the face you make when you eat the food makes my mouth water like I'm actually tasting it too haha. And we need to see more of your wife Ying eating the food as well!! Safe travels
This made me so hungry. I am actually about to cook salmon and rice with green beans for dinner. Then I saw this video. Now I can't wait to dig in!. I wish there was a Swedish restaurant near me.
*Wow theirs nothing urban about Stockholm the city is super clean and peaceful although very expensive well worth the trip, thanks Mark & Ying for this lovely tour once again damn it didn't even cost me a dime just 23.09 seconds, triple thumbs up!*
Awesome work Mark, love your videos. Even my 9 month old boy loves to watch you talk about food (he giggles all the way). He is a foodie in the making I guess, just like you and his dad lol... Keep up the good work. Greetings from New Zealand.
It's been over 40 years since I was in Sweden, I remember visiting the WASA but you could only see it from the top back then. I forgot how different the sunlight is in Sweden and how much I take the sunlight in Australia for granted. Thanks Mark and Ying, your enthusiasm, energy curiosity is invigorating to see.
I love how from time to time Mark hits Ying with that "what do you think?" and poor Yingwho didnt expect it doesnt know what to say so just smiles and laughs
Very nice episode Mark :) I love seeing you enjoy the food of my country! I just want to say, that the shrimp salad had crayfish in it as well, they look a bit like tiny lobstertails.
I luv the simplicity & subtle depth of This video Mark. One of my faves ..... maybe due to the heavy pouring rain ☔️ which I luvvvvv ☔️☔️☔️☔️☔️☔️☔️☔️🌸🌺🌺🌺💐💐💐💐💐💐🎋🎋🎋🎋🎋🍃💐💐💐🌾💐💐🌾🌸🌸🌸

Watching your videos makes me want to visit so many new places in the world! I absoultly love cultural food and your videos are a real eye opener (and mouth waterer!). Keep on doing what you are doing! And come to Wales! We have some beautiful traditional cuisine to tempt you! (Cawl, Lava Bread and Cockles just to name a few!)
I fell in love with these buns and am attempting to make them at home now. Would you say that the first bun that you had at the 2:47 point had, in addition to the cardamom, almond paste as well? I have been watching lots of recipes for these on you tube and only one made it with an almond paste and butter mixture. Hoping that you can remember the taste as it would help me out a lot in my preparation. Thanks so much.
Never put nuts in cinnamon or cardamom rolls/buns, just butter and the spice(cinnamon/cardamom), and maybe some sugar. Brush an egg on top to make them not burn in the oven.
I know this is a very late reply and you probably have already figured it out but I found a recipe for the cardamon buns that I think would be pretty accurate www.fixfeastflair.com/home/2015/2/9/swedish-cardamom-rolls-kardemummabullar-recipe
Nice episodes from Stockholm Mark! You had some very typical seasonal dishes there it seems. I hope you return to Sweden one day to visit other parts of the country with their own specialities.
Mark, you should try out Aifur in the old town in Stockholm, it's a viking restaurant, they have really good food there and the atmosphere is just amazing. A true Swedish restaurant. 🙂
The place where you had lunch (blåporten) is my favourite spot for lunch during summer! And your salad was with both shrimps and crayfish, that's probably what you felt taste like lobster/crab :) Glad you enjoyed Sweden, you should have taken a boat trip to the outer islands, that's the real soul of Sweden!

9:34 Those berries are sea buckthorns. They are really healthy and refreshing. They have over three times more vitamin C than oranges (165mg/100g).
It's crayfish and prawns in the salad. The crayfish looks like lobster! Loving this trip so much! Loved Rome as I went for my 30th and it was bringing me lots of lovely memories back.

that ship is soo cool, how they can salvage a ship that can still well preserve like that?, that is just amazing
Inject it with resins and plastics, the wood is essentially covered in a waterproof coating so it doesn't break down or rot further. It takes years to complete the process, google up the Mary rose ship
When they first got it up to the surface in 1961, they pumped the water out of the hull, and the it actually floated by it self to the dry dock. That's how well preserved it is. It's because of the brackish water in the Baltic Sea. Wood Worms can't live in it.

That was a nice video Mark, I had no idea that you were coming to Sweden. It's odd seeing you doing all those things in my old hometown. So used to the Asian videos you do. Good work and keep up it up. Hopefully see you in the North of Sweden next time
mark's english is really clear and easy to understand for asians
Vic Setyono he is american
i know. i mean for asian listener. his english is very clear

That's because he's got an Asian accent now after living in Thailand. Go back to his first videos and you'll see the change in accent from when he had a proper American accent.
I totally agree. The way he enunciate his words clearly and accurately makes it pleasing to watch his videos.
Oh how much I really enjoy your show. I love the food as well as the walking to attractions. Very very good.
