I was in high school in the 80's and my reverence for President Reagan is immense - so much so my youngest daughter is named Reagan. When I went to his presidential library I stand in the midst of the buildings, displays, and look out over the scenery in awe.
President Reagan was one of the best. He motivated us and made us feel as if there was nothing we could t do. He made people believe in themselves and he wanted the government to be less in our lives. He said, the 9 most terrifying words in the English Language are, I’m from the government and I am here to help.
I was serving in the Marines back in 1983 and had the Honor of shaking Pres Reagans hand when he flew into the base I was Stationed at (Marine Corps Air Station El Toro California) We were all lined up at the fence and he walked down the line and shook our hands.
I wish we had him back today. He got things done by communicating with people. He was tough as nails and strong in his belief in the American people, but he was also a man who just believed in freedom and how being free people makes the difference. He wanted freedom for everyone in the world. He loved people and freedom for people and was willing to fight for it. He was responsible for the Berlin wall coming down.
yeah it is...and Lincoln wasn't even the " featured " speaker that day. the featured speaker went on for 4.5 hours If I remember, and Lincoln's speech (which he wrote on the train on the way to Gettysburg) was 2.5 minutes. the crowd at the time was largely indifferent to Lincoln's address, however it's now considered one of the Greatest speeches in our history...
Reagan's career before he became a politician was as an actor. He extensively trained in oration; interpreting and delivering the lines written for him. Excellent training for a politician.

I am a retired History Teacher. The last video I showed my Middle School students in Houston (6th graders) was Reagan’s speech in Germany (“Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall”) in front of the Berlin Wall. Reagan was a popular Hollywood actor for many years before going into politics. He, along with Margaret Thatcher and Pope John Paul II worked to bring down the USSR, liberating millions who lived behind the Iron Curtain. Iran held several of our people hostage (for 444 days) while Jimmy Carter was president. Almost immediately after Reagan won his first election-the hostages were freed and sent home. When he ran for president after his first term, Reagan won 49 out of 50 states in a landslide victory. Thank you for showing this very inspirational video.
He was the "Great Communicator" for a reason! The Soviet Union fell because of him! His second term was the largest landslide victory since Washington, and the reason they created a new term "Regan Democrats", because EVERYONE VOTED FOR HIM, even Democrat politicians!
I remember before he became governor of California, sitting on his lap in our living room while he told me how lucky I was to be born an American. I'll never forget that.
My brother was a door gunner on a helicopter in Vietnam. His crew saved 6 men from a crashed Air Force C-130. 45 years later, his heroism was recognized when he was honored with the Silver Star. He will be buried in Arlington Cemetery.
I'm an American Gen X dude. My dad retired from the Air Force the year he was elected. He told me we were in a great place with him. My dad had that right.
Ronald Raegan was a movie star as far back as World War 2, known in the movie This Is The Army. He later hosted a television series. Then he became the governor of California. He was elected President from 1980 to 1988.

In the beginning of my Army tenure, I first auditioned for the Army Band program since I studied classical music in college. Then I volunteered for the M1 Tank after it first came out. And I was drafted an Army Recruiter. Ronald Reagan to me meant so much. Besides playing for President Carter, I had the honor to play for Ronald Reagan at the Ceremony for his Birthday in Dixon, IL. A very cold day indeed. After he was first elected, I had the honor of playing for the Iranian Hostages when they left from Germany to the States. He was known as the great communicator. He made it possible to start loving our country again. That it was alright to be a patriot. I will always miss him and hold him dear to my heart. I love hearing him again. Ronald Regan was known as the great communicator and is the greatest president we've had in modern times. Many of the problems we have today would not exist were he president today. He was known and respected by our friends and feared by our enemies. We NEED a strong and wise president!
I miss you, Ronald Reagan, the only president born in Illinois. I've been inside one of the houses he lived in back in the 1920s. Very similar to the house my family was renting when I was born. His beginnings were quite humble.
This speech was in 1981, 2 years later in 1983 I graduated from High School and joined the Army. Ronald Reagan was President when I served, which also made him my Commander in Chief.
Reagan was THE president! His “Time for choosing” speech after he switched from a Democrat to a Republican is awesome and despite being from the 60’s it’s just as applicable today as it was then. Then, his speech telling Mr. Gorbachev to “tear down this war” from our side of the Berlin Wall, another great example of how he could move listeners. But, there’s one speech that is absolute perfection, and it came at the worst of times. After the space shuttle Challenger disaster he gave the “touch the face of God” speech and it’s making me want to cry just thinking about it. Just short, sweet and beautiful. You t had every word it needed and nothing it didn’t. If there’s any of his your kids need to see, it’s that one!

WWI was a terrible war. The soldiers were subjected to chemical warfare. They lived in open trenches. And they were sent across open ground, completely exposed, into machine gun fire and gas attacks. So many young boys on both sides of the war were killed and wounded. It must have been an absolute terror.
yup...what Jono was trying to say to his kids. WWI was the first mechanized war. Always love a Graham Family video! Especially when the kids are a part of the watch too. Reagan was a great public speaker, but having been a Hollywood actor prepared him well for that. He gave many stirring speeches, but he also could be witty on the spur of the moment. A man tried to assassinate President Reagan soon after he took office and shot him before being captured. As Reagan was being driven away to the hospital he apparently said to his wife, "Forgive me, Nancy. I forgot to duck." If I remember correctly, he also said a prayer for the person who tried to shoot him. Several years later he was giving a speech, I believe in Germany, at a festive occasion with balloons and such around. During his speech a balloon popped. He stopped his speech for a second, said "Missed me" with a straight face, and then continued his speech without a hitch after making that teasing reference to the earlier assassination attempt. When he was still in Hollywood he was thinking about going into politics and when he mentioned this to one of his actor friends (maybe Jimmy Stewart? I don't remember for sure) they encouraged him to do it. Jokingly he put on a hurt expression, looked at his friend, and said, "Gosh, don't you like my acting either?" The game Trivial Pursuit came out during his presidency, and he was a fan of it. One time, having landed on a space for an entertainment question, he was asked, "Who said 'I am the Errol Flynn of B (i.e. second rate) movies?'" He correctly answered "I did." and took another turn. 😀 The man was a great president and an amazing speaker. At speeches like this one I can't help but tear up. “Patriotism is a word which always commemorates a robbery. There isn’t a foot of land in the world which doesn’t represent the ousting and re-ousting of a long line of successive ‘owners,’ who each in turn, as ‘patriots,’ with proud swelling hearts defended it against the next gang of ‘robbers’ who came to steal it and DID - and became swollen-hearted patriots in THEIR turn.” -- Mark Twain
@1:50 This speech was given on the day of his inauguration. And, at the time of the speech (12:00) I was officially 2 years and 3.25 hours old. Reagan only lost Minnesota and the District of Columbia. 525 electoral votes out of a maximum of 535.

The opposite side treated him so wrong. To have the Graham see his speech in high honor all of these later prove the other side wrong.
Thank you from Florida
Ronald Reagan was the first president I voted for. I live in his boyhood town where he grew up. Dixon illinois. It's an all American town in the Midwest.
After you pause please rewind 10 seconds
He also gave a speech at the Berlin Wall. "Tear Down This Wall" June 12, 1987

Good day family, I don't know if you know about a Comedian by the name of Red Skeleton? He did a breakdown of the Pledge of Allegiance and its pretty awesome. Hope you enjoy it as much as I have. Have a great day and be safe!😊

I worked at a hospital in Las Vegas early eighties to nineties, I met a WW I vet Wilbur Peterson, he wrote a book about his experiences, he was in rainbow division, he was an advisor on the movie set they made a movie based on him and the book he wrote, James Cagney played him in the movie. He was a funny a great guy, I still have the book he autographed for me
“Patriotism is a word which always commemorates a robbery.
Y’all need to watch his Challenger speech!!!
he was from the Midwest, no surprise he was who he was, the people from this area are some of the best in the world.
@1:50 This speech was given on the day of his inauguration. And, at the time of the speech (12:00) I was officially 2 years and 3.25 hours old. His 1984 performance in the Electoral Process was incredible, and he still reigns as the President with the highest tally.
Reagan only lost Minnesota and the District of Columbia. 525 electoral votes out of a maximum of 535.
This is from his first inaugural address in 1981. You should listen to the entire speech.
Ronald Regan was a Hollywood actor in the 40's and 50's !!
He destroyed the economy and was the start of the treasonous rightwing republikkkan grifters infiltrators to pack the courts etc etc
Thank you for your content, I looked up on Google to find out how to translate Fahrenheit to Celsius Google says it's over 32° c here in Florida 🔥🤟💪💯
Ronald Reagan was an actor for my parents time in black and white
You should watch the videos on American overseas battle monuments. You can see how many American soldiers who have died in wars protecting other countries. It visually shows you how selfless American Soldiers were when it comes to defending freedom.
There’s plenty of WW1movies and documentaries. My grandfather served in the US Army during that war. Then my day served in the US Army in WW2 landing on Omaha beach and taking part in the Battle of the Bulge. I will always love my country and its founding principles.
