Love it! That was a stupid move to downsize to a turbo 4. What a shame.
I agree with an additional 17 hp and a liter loss in displacement, there is bound to be some engine issues IMO
Agreed, if they are going to downsize to a 4-cylinder mild hybrid set-up, it should at least either (1) perform better or (2) cost less than the twin-turbo V6. Not only is the new C43 slower than the BMW M340i, it's slower than the old C43.

you seriously think that sound was actually from the car? lol come on... Ambient sound at start up was waaaay different than the sound of an actual microwave making a bag of popcorn. if ANY car sounds like that at idle then it means it has a severe severe misfiring and it wouldn't even run past 2 seconds.
I currently have a C43 W205 and tbh even though I didn't like the new 4 cylinders I was atleast expecting them to outperform the W205 C43, can't believe Mercedes litterly complettly went backwards on these cars making them slower! Definitly keeping my W205 C43 now.

@QuanPham-uq7ml I drive these cars in valet all the time and I can tell you one feels no cheaper than the other. W205 is famous for creaky plastic anyway (doesn't make it bad, the new one just isn't as bad as you say)
you car is probally alot more reliable to this new c43 engine is way overbosst that will eat the internal in wear and tear plus it seems from a glance there alot of plastic parts conected to the turbo i wouldent trust those part to last vety long and the electrification of the whole thing even the turbo have an ev motor attach to it this car is nightmare to service after warranty.
I and a lot of other people would rather take the W205 C43. The old car's V6 sounded lovely.

I love the Tech that is in the New W206. But the exhaust sound of and body lines of the W205 is a clear winner in my opinion.

I have a 2021 w205 C 43 in Selenite Grey with the exhaust option. Let me tell you it’s sounds like a snarling beast and drives angry. Never getting rid of it. Miles better than the new one. MILES!

It is called torque boys and girls.
If you put the W205 in Sport+ and rev it up to about 4.5-5.5K rpms and let off the gas it gives insane pops for stock. Not a lot of people mention that and I think that is very important for this car. It also makes them at 3K rpm but it definetly isn't as loud. Also, you can tune it even with a racechip if you want an easily removable tune and it completely changes the car in terms of power.
No replacement for displacement.

When I see this video, there is no way I would choose the new C43 over the old one, not even mentioning the BMW m340i which is two classes above.
Or even the S4/S5 which is another solid choice
What's interesting though is the new c43 beat the m340i on track time.

@kenoh818 there is a video review of it on youtube. It's in German language however. People have been talking about it. It beat the bmw around a track by 2 seconds which is a large margin for that track and class comparison
@@themercedestraveler9566I was hoping you were not referring to it. I've seen it already. This very channel has pit a RS5 vs a M3 xdrive. Guess who won? The RS5 which is impossible too. If you scout for other videos between the Merc and the BMW, the Merc never wins in any situation.
My wife has a loaded 2020 cabriolet. With the top down it not only looks smart but in sport mode, it sounds amazing!

You can do as many tricks to stop lag with an electric motor but a larger displacement more cylinders and an extra turbo still comes out on top in stock form
Who advices Mercedes into making this stupid decision putting a4 cylinder in the new 63 and 43 models. I’m pretty sure they are gonna notice the drop in sales because most people will choose 340i and m3 and m4 over this 4 cylinder vacuum cleaner junk. I use to be a fan of the old Mercedes models but this is a wrong turn for me and most of car guys

The 390hp v6 restyle w205 has the 9 speedshift tct too. The old 367hp had the 9g converter
Yes , 2019 C43 has TCT transmission ,so 0-100 km fast then old C43
I'll stick to my GLC43 and buy another 43 of any year. I test drove the replacement C43 and the build quality is trash, and it's slow as hell compared to the old one

I think all of those gear changes slowed it down. The V6 model had longer gears
I don’t know if it’s the fake exhaust sound or something, but the new c43 upshifting sounds extremely slow
And then the big story is the efficiency of the 4 cylinder isn’t better either! This is a terrible decision by Mercedes.
Good thing these are automatic so Sam can actually drive the cars 😂
Dont sell your W205 C43 people the new one is a disappointment when it comes to engine sound and straight line performance also i prefer the exterior look of the W205 just my opinion however the interior of the W206 is just 🔥

MB probably underrated the power rating of the 6-cyl so I’m sure the HP numbers are probably much closer than the numbers on paper suggest.
This is right. They claim it's 4.5s, while I can get 4.2s 10/10. The best I did was 3.9s with break boost, no tune.

It was that little torque difference from the bigger engine. Now a CLA45 vs the old No brainer but the fact the older car in this one had a bigger engine so the torque band is longer and a little bit more.
Old one is better and nicer looking.
I get it, downsizing is a must now but why do you have to make the car less preaty and with worse interior??!
Honestly at first i didnt like the w206 design but after a while i started liking it the more i saw it. . Its not bad but when parked aside a w205 and i realised why i didnt like the new design. The old looks more exquisite and sportier. That elegance of the old one new one doesnt have it.
The a-class is front wheel bias vs the c-class which is rear wheel bias. Perhaps that's another reason to consider the c-class (but not at this price).

Really nice comparison and completely agree, the c43, as everyday car is just superb how enjoyable it is. Owner of a 2020 one and enjoying it a lot!. I've been driving 4cyl turbo before all the time and when I decided for my last purchase I was clear I wanted something different, considering it could be the last enjoyable non-4cyl engines, I've just regret not going for the v8... What about the handling? is noticeable the difference?
Mercedes is raising the prices like crazy in Europe. Here in Spain the base price now for the C43 is €92k, when the M340i is €77k(old C43 when sold new had a similar price) and the new C63 is €140k now. Is bonkers, just the prior E63S model this year the base price was around €150k.
Here in Europe is going crazy with the stupid restrictions, now the EU is becoming aware some decisions are unrealistic and consider to delay the ICE ban and other restrictions, is causing more "harm" to economy and the objectives are basically unachievable. The only think is causing is that everybody that wants electric ends-up with Chinese cars, as are the only cheap ones. This month in Spain is the first time the most selling car is a Chinese car, the MG4 electric(it's a piece of .....), when the car chargeer network is absolutly crap and one of the worst in the EU...

It’s a shame in general what Mercedes have done.
I’m pretty sure they are already regretting of discontinuing V6s and V8s in their C class. As a w205 c63s owner I would never buy any of those 4 cilinders, at least a v6 with the sound of the c43… it’s shame Mercedes have gifted this vehicle segment to BMW and Audi (as the sales of the new c63s are close to 0).
And the same will happen with the e class, sales will plumb against the new M5 v8 hybrid and the RS6 and RS7.

For now the tuners are able to get 500bhp from a stage 2.
the new C43 AMG cost in Germany USD 110k, it´s really not worth the money.

Yep, well equipped C43 is somewhere in ballpark of 110-115k euro. Which is the same as M3 comp xdrive..... Same spec 340i is around 85-90k, and we cant get S5 petrol in europe ...

@@alengreen589 yep, i have 23' 340i, catalogue price was ~85-ish after options. I like C43 design bit more but cant justify the price. Also the fuel efficiency is insane on the bmw can run it at 5,5-6l/100 almost the same as 30d X3 that wife has.
C43 with the v6 was a great middle ground with a lot of natural snappiness . This new iteration is trash

This reminds me of the N55 single turbo vs the N54 twin turbo. The N55 was a more modern supposedly more efficient single turbo system but the true twin turbo setup in the N54 335i performed better even stock not to mention with mods. Of course this is inline 4-E vs V6 situation.
The N54 was much better in performance.
The N55 fuel economy was quite a noticeable improvement.
And now we have thanks to the n54 and n55 the glorious b58 which is basically the best inline six engine with nearly unlimited potential. Mercedes should have gone a similar way with their V6. But no, thanks Mercedes and thanks to EU regulations, you are the best🤝
The new C43 is a pleasure to drive (I'm sure in line with the previous gen) and has a really aggressive 1 thru 4 gearing. I guess Mercedes isn't too concerned about going fast in their entry level sedans ("entry" level lol $92k)
Entry level are A series. Then comes CLA series, then base C300, then C43. Its far from entry level 😄

The new C43 is has a very cheap plastic interior compared to the previous one. I'm driving in the new one right now as a loaner from my MB dealer.

I have the 2018 c43 coupe night edition. Love the car and it came with a few extras, of course the exhaust but one that is least mentioned anywhere is the front camera. Love that when I am pulling into tight spots and high parking stumps.
What annoys me most about owning a 2015 c300 205 is that it's so hard to find people that truly understands the car and can maintenance it just as well. I purchased mines used at 65k and is overall a great car but the suspension doesn't seem as flawless as the one in this video. If their are any MB experts the knows and understands common issue with this model and year near nw Indiana/Chicago area please reach out.
I owned a w205 c300. Got ir CPO and it was flawless. Quality of plastics on-par. You’re right. Suspension was a bit too harsh. It’s even at the same level than the w205 C43 (the one in the video is mine).
It all comes down to the tires. Those OEM continental run flats are stiff as stone and ruin the ride quality. The ones in the C300 were all-seasons, which worked well for me in Ontario, but with the C43s summer tires, I might have to get winters.
Try that. There are pirellis, michelins, etc. but get a flat tire kit or be prepared to be towed in case of a puncture

As enthusiasts (and owner of the V6) this makes me really proud and reinforces my decision of buying.
Can’t deny the tech on the w206 is amazing and MB achieves pretty much the same with more efficiency, less petrol, plus electric. This is the way of the future, whether we like it or not.
Conclusion: (money aside) MB engineers achieved same/more performance with less fuel usage. That is the whole point. But I’m an old-fashioned enthusiast and I love my big and loud engines, so I guess I would keep the W205 V6. And when the time comes for changing it, I might jump to the last of the V8C63.
That’s exactly what I did. Traded in my 2019 c43 for a 2015 c63s. There’s no comparison, the c63s is so much more exciting to drive and puts a smile on my face that the c43 never did.
Except it doesn't use any less fuel in testing, so the new one is lose-lose
@@mikehagmaier3949 meh if you like a powerful daily driver in all weather conditions or race from digs, the C43 4matic bi turbo V6 is where it’s at. Accomplishes all those parameters better then any high powered rwd car.

@@mikehagmaier3949 I have a Mustang with twin turbos (700 whp), built 6R80 trans, gears, etc., etc.and got sick of daily driving it. I can’t imagine going crazy like some these guys do with Mustangs and shooting for +1000 whp. I bought the mustang new and just slowly modded it up. It was fbo NA E85 originally but It’s been twin turbocharged for about 3 years now. High HP RWD cars suck in the rain, cold out, city traffic and gas mileage. Just not a fun daily driver experience overall except for bragging rights or the spirited quick run.
So I bought a C43, did stage 2, downpipes, etc for my daily driver. It is a better all around performance daily driver car than any high HP RWD will ever be, mainly do to the awd. I still own my mustang but now it’s used occasionally on sunny days to work and for the drag strip.
So like you said whatever floats your boat,…I have both a high performance DD and a high performance street/strip car 🤷♂
How much power can that old c43 handle before having problems?

3 liter V6 can handle a lot of more, some of these guys making 600hp on that engine with no issues, that V6 also has forged internals
I got 502 HP and 696 NM torque. Stage 3. No problems until now....
Drove 55.000 km with that configuration.

I got 550 hp at the crank rn and am thinking about adding a bit more power up to 580hp however, it’s a daily driver I just drive to work and the gym and home and sometimes 40mins to NYC if I go out. I’m in Long Island. You think I should do it? I also try to drive conservative until I want to have fun once in a while.
No comparison, C43 W205 is the Beast. Don't forget to use Rotella T6 Synthetic 5W40 Diesel Oil to keep those Bi-Turbos super happy.

W205 looks better exterior wise, sounds better than the new model, interior wise and tech wise, headlights etc i would choose the new model. But there no doubt about it the W205 is the overall winner. I have a 2019 C43 wagon and plan to keep it a few more years at least no rush to replace.

MB wont sell many of the new ones as a 4cyl will turn many buyers off given the price of the vehicle. Less reliable as well. Too small of a motor given the power output for it to not be overstressed. I’d take an M340i for the better performance and less $$$.
On the amg subreddit, apparently people are turning them back into Mercedes for multiple engine and transmission issues.
I'll keep my C450 AMG for a while longer. 2017 C63 AMG next.

Oh man, I totally regret selling my V6 C43 Cabriolet. But I got an amazing deal from Mercedes who bought it back during COVID. Now I'm stuck having to consider a friggin four banger because used V6's are increasing in price and this video is proof as to why. Ugh.

I hated how they went away from the real hand built AMG models to the 35,43, 53 models just to sell more cars. The CLA35 is a real over priced POS. But my answer would still be no on other AMGs. Regarding the Black Series If I had $300k+ to spend on a car it wouldn't be a GT or any MB car. My point is... the progression AMG was on for years was making a better car each time. Something AMG owners were exited to own. Now they are just throwing HP numbers out there. Have you heard the exhaust on the black series GT... If your barometer is HP alone get a modified Japanese car... I also own other MB cars right now and have noticed a trend of lower build quality unless you get the flagship models which in my opinion aren't worth the money compared to other cars on the market. They've loaded these cars up with so much tech something is always broken. Don't even get me started on the all electric models.

Whether or not the new AMG wins when you take both in stock form once you start doing mods the performance world will show why the V6 is superior.
