Just so you know, Mystic, you can download the Universal Pokémon Randomizer to bypass trade and other special evolutions. It works with all Pokémon roms, and has a bunch of other options as well. Link to website: pokehacks.dabomstew.com/randomizer/ Hope this helps anyone who needs it!
I understand Snorlax is a tempting choice, and it's good, but its Special stat in gen 1 was only 65, so not particularly high. That means it won't tank these special hits quite as well as you'd think but also means Psychic and Blizzard really don't deal that much damage. Pikachu is also definitely not mandatory and also just not really that good honestly. But cool video!
Really good setup! My first Yellow playthrough (that I somehow won with) was...well, let's just say I was an odd kid with odd choices... Pikachu Venusaur Charizard Blastoise Butterfree Primeape Despite what you might think, Butterfree actually helped me destroy Koga's Gym. XD
Caden Crawford good but mew is technically not obtained through legit matters you have to glitch but if you want to you use it go on ahead I’ve glitched a game and exploited it a bunch I don’t agree but I also don’t disagree with using it but what can I do it’s you’re team :P

Something I find EXTREMELY overlooked in this Video is Nidoking. It is a ground type as well. And after beating brock, ESPECIALLY in yellow since it gets Double Kick way earlier than Red/Blue, you can get a Moon Stone and obtain Thrash, a move that in gen 1 lasts 3-4 turns, a great move that can easily sweep up a rocket base. A second reason to use it is Horn Drill with X Accuracy. It becomes an unmissable OHKO move, as well as getting the move Thunderbolt and having Stab Earthquake for Agatha. It alone can absolutely mop up the elite 4 with this alone. So the choice of Golem over it seems like a slap in the face to the poison type.
thats the best starter for gen 1 for you and yes a I am saying that for the old games cuz even though he has a limited move pool crit-leaf is still op, and vaporeon is just a way better water type in my opinion
To be fair by the time you get bulbasaur in yellow you're already past the point where it's most useful. (I.e Brock and Misty) Everything afterwards that you'd use the bulbasaur line against (water/ground/rock types) can be handled just as easily by pikachu/whatever water type you have
TheDjbz I understand why they weren't added. I just commented because Venusaur is my favorite poke, so I was feeling quite salty about his absence. Not saying he should've been on the team.
Ariana Isabella it’s a shame, Venusaur is the best grass type in gen 1 that isn’t exeggutor Blastoise is massively outclassed by starmie, lapras, vaporeon, slowbro and even gyarados that has 100 special in gen 1 and Ninetales outclasses charizard with 100 special to really make those fire moves hurt
Next time, could you put all 6 Pokemon together at the end of the video just so we get a look at the final complete team? Btw love how you use the old school artwork, it's so refreshing and nostalgic to see them!
Great video! Last move for Alakazam could be Thunderbolt. :) Also instead of Blastoise, I’d personally use Vaporeon. Also bulky and just overall a super well rounded Pokémon.
Jolteon, Dragonite, Arcanine, Gyarados, Snorlax, Exeggcutor I've done multiple playthroughs, and this team is what I always settled for. Blastoise, Venusaur and Charizard are all still in my heart, however
I recently caught a Tauros in the Safari Zone, taught it hyper beam, body slam, earthquake, and I forgot the last move. I ran trough Pokémon Blue. Nothing stood a chance. Tauros is ridiculous in gen 1 and often overlooked because of how bad it is nowadays

@@Ewremen it’s a very easy glitch, you should do it at least once just for the sake of it haha. I just did a play through for the first time with mew and it felt like fulfilling a long lost childhood dream. Just Google how to catch mew in gen 1 and you’ll find it, will need to start from the beginning though. You get a level 7 mew with a glitch involving the bridge in Cerulean city
* Clefable with Thunderbolt, Hyper Beam, Sing, and Reflect because Clefable can be obtained very early, has pretty good stats, and a massive TM access. * Nidoking with Earthquake, Thunder, Ice Beam, and Surf because, yeah, obtained early, really good stats, and great TM access. Also, Horn Attack is a solid move by learnset until other moves are obtained. * Kadabra/Alakazam with Psychic, Recover, Thunder Wave, and Reflect for reasons listed in the video. This Kadabra/Alakazam is powerful and annoying to opponents as long as Psychic is effective, which it is against 90%+ of opponents. The thing that sucks about this moveset is running out of PP in-game for Psychic, but I wouldn't want to use another move slot on any of the other damaging moves available to this pokemon. * Articuno with Blizzard, Agility, Double-Edge, and Rest because I don't mind legendaries, ridiculous stats, and a small but versatile moveset * Blastoise with Surf, Blizzard, Body Slam, and Mimic for reasons listed in the video * Pikachu with Thunderbolt, Thunder Wave, Submission, and Seismic Toss because it's Pokemon Yellow and even though you don't technically have to use Pikachu, you kind of do. The biggest reason to choose this version is because it's Gen 1 but consistent with the anime and you have a cute little pal to follow you around. Pikachu may be relatively terrible in battle, but it adds a lot to the fun factor. Also, this moveset makes Pikachu at least not totally defenseless against most foes. Obviously you'll need an HM slave or two as well, but Surf is the only great HM for battle (though Strength and Fly are not terrible). Also, I would have strongly considered Golem, Gengar, and Machamp, but I don't have a 3DS so I avoided Pokemon that needed to be traded, besides Kadabra because its Sp. Atck. and Psychic typing make it good enough without being fully evolved. Having these amazing Pokemon only be obtainable through trade was a smart move on Nintendo's part when the games were released, but sucks when that's not a viable option for you in 2018.
A feather in Dugtrio's cap versus golem - in Digglet Cave you can occasionally find Dugtrio of level30+ which is grossly beyond the lvl25ish electric types in the electric gym!
In my last run through Yellow, I boxed Pikachu and used Jolteon instead as it's just a better Electric type overall, plus it has access to Pin Missile and Double Kick. Previous playthroughs where I have used Pikachu out of sentimental value have meant that a Vaporeon was used (Surf, Ice Beam, Acid Armour are its main moves), otherwise my water type Pokemon has been Lapras. Access to Surf, Ice Beam & Thunder makes this a very strong member. Charizard is my favourite of the starters and it has access to Earthquake, Body Slam and Swords Dance. My grass type Pokemon has always been Vileplume because of access to Petal Dance, a highly powerful attack with the advantage of being able to switch out in Gen 1. Dodrio is (in my opinion) the best regional bird in the game with great attack and speed stats, plus access to Drill Peck and Tri Attack (Which in Gen 1 is just a very strong STAB attack). Finally, despite the lack of a decent ghost move, having Gengar/Haunter is brilliant for trolling those self-destructors, plus it gets Thunderbolt and Psychic allowing to utilise its high special stat.
The best thing about Pokemon Yellow Pikachu is not only is he strong, but you can trade him to Blue and evolve him for a very high stated Riachu. #SurfingRaichu
Red and GSC work too EDIT: Or change your name with ws m, evolve Pikachu (the game will let you because it considers Pikachu foreign) and change your name back.
The fourth move I use for Alakazam is reflect to keep him from getting hit too hard with a physical attack. Use that, and pretty much all your opponent can do is hope for a crit at just the right time.
@@blakedup6190 Recovery is for the hits that were weakened by Reflect. Alakazam's defense is so weak its nice to throw a reflect up and then recover if needed. Because otherwise, you're gonna recover, and lose all you recovered with the next hit
I doubt that. At that point pikachu only has a weak thundershock and misty's starmie can tank that. I highly recommend to grind your spearow and rattata to lvl 20 to evolve them and it will potentially sweep her team. A bit time consuming but its good in the end.
Also: Not sure why people are making a big deal about speed in this game. The purpose of these teams are for sweeping the game from Pallet Town to Pokemon League, so you'll be higher levels (and invariably faster) than opposing pokemon 90% of the time. And the one time your Golem get outsped by a Rattata isn't going to hurt.
If we're going to be completely honest the best way to beat the entire game is with just a Nido (either will do) maybe with something that's not weak to Psychic or Ice attacks for backup.
Nidoking can destroy Psychic types with STAB Earthquake since they have weak physical Defense for the most part. Exeggutor and Slowbro could be problematic though critical hits turn the tables on Slowbro's 80 base Special.
Gen 1 Crit chance is determined by how much higher your speed is over your opponent's, so naturally stacking with high speed Pokemon will give you more crits and easier battles.
Ashley Gillespie-Horne you won’t be higher levels, you’ll barely be level 45-50 because of the lack of grinding by the elite 4 and speed is very relevant given base speed determines the crit hit ratio and high crit moves like razor leaf have a perfect crit hit ratio on anything at base 70 speed or higher because of the 8 times multiplier
Ashley Gillespie-Horne in gen one the critical chance is determined by the speed stat. slash increases your chance to crit even more and combine that with the fastest pokemon in gen 1, Persian you will crit all the time
I like that you considered how soon you can get the Pokémon as well as how viable they were. As a suggestion for alakazam's 4th move, I'd suggest psybeam (or even confusion). Most of the routes are long with many battles. And if you wanted to go as far as ev training (for stadium), 10pp on psychic is just not enough. As for competitive, could work in synergy with double team if you can pull off the small chance of confusion
Just came here from the future to say that in yellow there is one trade evo you can use. In the underground path from route 4-5,there is a girl that will give a machoke for cubone, and it does not have an Evers tone, meaning it WILL evolve once you receive it
Santos Warrior Champion (now Wallace) and 8th gym leader (now Juan) are different in Emerald and you have to deal with both Aqua and Magma. I don't think there are many other changes prior to the postgame.
Personally, I would replace Alakazam with Exeggutor, teach it psychic and mega drain, and switch Blastoise with Cloyster, gets stab on both water and ice attacks.
@@txtsavage2702TxTsavage if you played pokemon gold, silver, or crystal you would know that his original team and that he had an Espeon instead of a Lapras. But technically that was his team after the 2nd gen games. So you are technically right.
Yeah, let's be redundant and tack on low accuracy STAB moves instead of increasing a Pokémons move diversity or giving them more strategic options like Double Team. You seem like the kind of person who thinks that if a move doesn't do damage, heal yourself, or put the enemy to sleep, it's bad.
When I played Yellow on VC, it took all of my willpower to not dump Pikachu for Jolteon. Aside from my Pikachu, I also had Ninetales, Gyarados, and Hypno, because I liked the idea of using Pokemon with good Special stats that got screwed by having it turn into Special Defense. My fifth and final member was Venusaur.
I wanted to recreate Red's team from pokemon gold/silver but I wasn't able to obtain espeon. So my final looked slighty diffrent: pikachu (of course), three Kanto starters, snorlax and lapras
As for late gamer, I like to be diversed: 1. Gengar (Ghost) 2. Alakazam (Psychic) 3. Zapdos (Electric) 4. Motres (Fire) 5. Articuno (Ice) 6. Blastoise (Water & For surfing)
Golem's (and Graveler's) Earthquake and Rock Slide hit harder, plus it's just fun sending Graveler/Golem out before all the Lass's and Jr. Trainers and watching it devour all of their normal/flying/poison-type pokemon and coming away with hardly a scratch. I usually had to run back to Poke Center to recover it's *PP* , not it's HP, because it was so good in battles.

You know, I always thought Blue's Eevee was determined by your own Eevee when you got it. Based on what you evolved yours into, his would evolve into something else. Say you got Flareon his would be Vaporeon, you got Vaporeon his would be Jolteon, you got Jolteon, his would be Flareon. Didn't evolve? He'd have Jolteon. Never knew it was connected to battles.
I thought exactly the same. And I remember evolving Eevee to Vaporeon and Blue having Jolteon, evolving it to Flareon and Blue having Vaporeon etc. I found out about being battle dependent much later, but in my mind (=in my heart) Blue's Eevee evolves according to what you choose your Eevee to evolve.
@@AzureKyle I'll say a couple more things. I can honestly say that I never, in any of my saves, skipped the non mandatory battle, and Blue always ended with jolteon. But every time he ended up with jolteon, I had evolved eevee to vaporeon, because it was the best suited for my team (surf, ice beam). But I clearly, clear as the day, remember going for Flareon in another save, because design wise was my favorite, and Blue ending up with Vaporeon! Man, I thought I misremembered my childhood with this "depending on battles you won/lost" rhetoric. And it might be right, no doubt, but it's not the way I remember it.
Pretty cool video! The Yellow version is a different enough experience that it does merit a separate video considering what works. Still, it's kind of upsetting that you can't get Raichu in this one.
It would be interesting to see what team you would pick to fight another Pokémon Yellow player who had this team. Example: What team would you use to fight a friend or sibling that had a Pokémon Yellow save file with this team.
My Pokemon Yellow team: Pikachu: Because he is the starter pokemon. Charizard: Has great offensive stats and easy to obtain. Blastoise: Can learn surf, great stats and blizzard really helps against dragonite. Eggsecutor: Can double as a great grass and phycic type, fairly bulky too. Nidoking: Is bulky, amazing offensively and has one of the best move pools in the game. Dodrio: Is ok, often got replaced with my syther tho.
What always scared me away from using the Nidos is that it's weak to four of the strongest types in the game (Ground, Water/Ice, and, the boss type, Psychic). Also it's stats are just... okay. Certainly good enough to beat the cartridge game, but I preferred to use the likes of Golem, Alakazam, Starmie, and Exeggutor instead.
ua-cam.com/video/bVwfu_pSdGE/v-deo.html Hi Guys I am an You Tuber I am making Videos of Pokemon Legends Red Gameplay So , I need support For my New You Tube Channel Can you please support me by Subscribing my CHANNEL.
I think one of the best pokemon out there is Starme because of her move set diversity. You can teach her electric moves! A water pokemon with electric moves?! Plus, she is super fast, right behind Alakazam. I can annihilate anyone with her, I usually teach her psychic, recover, thunder bolt and blizzard. Anyone who dare gets in my way will feel the wrath of my Starme!
Its worth keeping for the reason that the level u get it to by the time u get the rest u need it's to high of a level to ditch as ull not have a pokemon to be able to catch at its level if u get what I mean
Pikachu(thunderbolt, body slam, thunder, flash) Dragonite(surf, ice beam, dragon rage, thunder bolt) Charizard(flamethrower, fly, earthquake, slash) Alakazam(toxic, psybeam, psychic, recover) Gangar(hypnosis, dream eater, pyschic, mega drain) Machamp(rock slide, submission, dig, seismic toss) By the time I reached the elite four all my Pokémon were at least 62 with machamp being my weakest and pikachu being my strongest at 70. I beat them all on the first go.
Good video, but sadly as you said yourself Pokemon like Alakazam and Golem can be pretty hard to come by nowdays when you play Yellow on the old GB cardtrige like me and have no way of trading these Pokemon with anyone. From own experience I can say that great alternatives for these Pokemon are Rhydon and Hypno, who really surprised me with their gen 1 strenght in my playthrough
lavender town as well, but only 14 caught^^ I am more of a just catch who I like guy, building the team around my favourites currently thinking about wherever to replace pikachu once I get evee and have acess to volteon
Jolteon is super good but I want to challenge myself using Pikachu as main electric type but probably I will fail... it's hard to build a team in gen 1, pkmn's movepool is garbage! ahhhhhh...
Yeah the damn movepools ... TMs are so much more valuable here. I really want to get Gengar into my team but it pretty much has THE worst learnt moves in the game.
Note: this is MY team for yellow. This isn't so much a suggestion, so feel free to take it with a grain of salt. The starters - I don't plan on using the starters actually. Nickname them, Box em. Trade them to Gold/Silver and breed em and start out my game with better mon's as well as some of my preferred ones from my Yellow/Blue LP. Pikachu - I caught a Pikachu in Blue. I named it Ion (Ion, referring to the molecule that has to do with electrons). For this Pikachu I'm keeping it a Pikachu and I'm naming it Thor after the God of Thunder himself. Thor's move-set will be Thunderbolt, Agility, Double Team, and Thunder Wave. Pikachu in general is super frail, but if I slow down my enemy down by Thunder-Waving it and then adding Agility to Thor's stats, then Thunderbolt - it'll do damage. I'm not going to send Thor out against anything it can't handle. Spearow/Fearow - Hawkeye. Ahh yes. My favorite bird of this gen. Pidgey/Pidgeot doesn't learn Wing Attack until level 37 I believe and Gust is a normal type attack. Hawkeye will be my Flyer of this region and again, Hawkeye will out-speed everything it comes across and Pecking everything to death. > : D Hawkeye's move-set will be Peck, Fly, Swift, and Toxic. Cause why not. Mankey/Primeape - Steve. Yes, after the spangly bastard himself, our favorite red-white-and blue hero and ex-avenger Captain MURICA. Steve's main job will be taking out Rock Types, and the first gym. It's only fighting move really is Low Kick, which I don't know who's idea was it to design that part of the game (only one fighting move, really Game Freak?) But yes - Steve's move-set will be Low Kick, Karate Chop (unfortunately no STAB in this gen, why?), Rock Slide (for coverage) and Body Slam Geodude/Golem - Hulk. See the Avenger's theme? Yeah, I love them. : 3 Another member of my Blue Team. It will learn Rock Throw, Earthquake (it learns it upon level up), Dig, and Fire Blast making it a real MVP of this LP. But you're not going to be sending Golem out into battle with any grass types anyway or fighting types, because why? Hulk will totally wreck Lt. Surge's Raichu, just a couple of Dig's and bam. You don't even need a fire type for this team since you have Hawkeye, which will take out the Celadon Gym. The thing I suggest getting is a HM slave that can learn Cut. Because you WILL need it (you can't even get into the Vermillion City gym without it) so catch a Bellsprout to do that. Using cut will get you Fly. Teach it to your Fearow before entering the Celadon gym beforehand, even if you can't access it without a badge, you can still use it in battle which will be super handy. Trust me. So, you've beaten Erika, time to go to Lavender Town, the road's closed, get the Tea from the old lady in the Cleadon Mansion but wait! Our other team member is here as well as our Surfer for this region! Grab Eevee from the building next to the Celadon Mansion (I believe this also requires cut). You will then purchase a Water Stone from the Celadon Department store and evolve it into Vaporeon. Vaporeon - Elsa. So, I didn't name it Natasha because Vaporeon will be our dragon-slayer of the team, and what better name to give our dragon slayer than after the Ice Princess herself. Anyway, Elsa's move-set is: Bubble Beam, Surf, Ice Beam, and Aurora Beam. Again, Dragon Slayer. This will take out Lance's Dragonite. Boom. You get Bubble Beam after defeating Misty, Ice Beam from giving a Fresh Water (vending Machine Celadon Dept. Store top floor) to a little girl at the top floor of the Celadon Dept. store, Surf, and Aurora Beam which you learn through level-up only in yellow. Last teammate - Haunter/Gengar. Nickname - Vision. Yes, I know, Gengar is SUPER frail in this gen as it's weakness is Psychic and it's own type. But, it will take out Psychic types for you, as there are no dark types in this gen. It can learn Psychic which you get from Mr. Psychic's house in Saffron City which isn't far from where you catch a Haunter. But it's special attack is good, even if special wasn't really a thing in this gen either. Even if this isn't really a Pokemon you want to invest in, it is for me. I'm fine with it either way. Move-set for Gengar - Psychic, Lick, Hypnosis, Dream Eater. I have more than one 3DS so I can trade them to myself. I really don't mind the extra effort put in to making this team as I know I'll enjoy the challenge and like playing with them. You can again, take this team with a grain of salt but I wanted to give my two cents on how I build my team.
Since he dosent offer an alternative for alakazam i recommend mew if you can get one. It can learn any mive in the game and it passes for a psychic type
Alakazam's 4th move should be Psybeam to save on PP. Psychic only has 10, this will let you use it more without using ethers or running back to the pokemon center
+RockyRider25 1. Shadow Ball is a gen II move. The only ghost type move in gen I that does type damage is Lick, which is garbage and not learnt by Alakazam 2. Shadow Ball being a ghost-type move was physical in gens II and III, therefore it was very unviable choice as Alakazam has very poor attack stat
Here's my recommendation Pikachu Thunderbolt Thunder wave Double team Body slam Nidoking Earthquake Thrash Rock slide Bubblebeam Charizard Flamethrower Fly Dig Slash Blastoise Surf Ice beam Double edge Toxic Mr mime Psychic Sismic toss Thunderbolt Double team Snorlax Body slam Submission Fire blast Blizzard
My team: Raichu (evolved with glitches) Thunderbolt Thunder Wave Quick Attack/Double Team Body Slam Charizard Flamethrower Fly Slash Fire Spin Nidoqueen Earthquake Rock Slide Blizzard Body Slam Lapras Surf Ice Beam Confuse Ray Body Slam or Strength, because paralyzed pokemon can't be frozen Mew (if you don't want to use Mew, then choose another good physical attacker) Psychic Ice Beam Hyper Beam Dig Gengar Thunderbolt Psychic Hypnosis Mega Drain (for rock/ground pokemon)
Dude, nidoking should have blizzard instead of thrash. Thrash is nearly useless when you got earthquake. Blizzard hits grass and flying types (who resist EQ) hard
@@xyzzy-dv6te blizzard has only 70% accuracy and I don't trust moves with less than 90% accuracy I know blizzard is high in power I understand that but when it comes to moves in perfer accuracy over power
The thing is... You CAN put the Pikachu in the PC, and trade it with the much better electric Pokemon, Jolteon, and late game, if you really want to you can also repace that with Zapdos! Also, you could've just given Blastoise's spot with much better water Pokemon, Like Lapras, Starmie, Gyrados etc.
I'd recommend finishing with this team: Pikachu, Snorlax, Pidgeot, Bulbasaur, Charizard & Squirtle. Playthrough: Get Pikachu as your starter, going to Viridian Forest to get Butterfree as a Caterpie, later catching Pidgeotto in Viridian Forest. Defeat Brock's team before going to Mt. Moon, defeat Misty, the Nugget Bridge & go to the house with a young girl representing Melanie from Bulbasaur and the Hidden Village to receive Bulbasaur. Talk to the man representing Damien from Charmander; The stray Pokemon to receive Charmander, going to help that researching Furry get out of his fursuit, most likely due to embarrassment you found him being a furry. Defeat Lt. Surge, talk to Officer Jenny and get Squirtle. Make your way through rock tunnel, when you reach Lavender Town, release Butterfree. Defeat the Rocket Hideout, Lavender Tower, and Silph co. and fight Sabrina, as she has Lv.50 Pokemon, you'll lose first try, but not to fear. Go back to Lavender Town and catch Haunter, defeat her with Haunter and release it. Go to the route between Celadon and Saffron and catch Mankey to fill in the hole. Go challenge Erika. Go to the fighting dojo and release Mankey once you get Hitmonlee/chan. Put your Hitmon in the PC. Go to Fuchsia City via Route 14, not the Cycling Road. Challenge Koga. Go to the safari zone, catching 1 - 5 Tauros. Go back to Saffron and meet the Copycat girl, who appeared in the anime under the name "Duplica". At this point, go to Cinnabar Island and challenge Blaine, he's kind of easy, but still, lose the first time and try again using your full team instead of Squirtle and Pikachu. Go to Viridian and Battle Giovanni, then take on the Elite Four. Challenge Gary to a champion battle. You beat the game. Notes: Lapras can be received before your 4th gym battle with Sabrina at Silph Co. Snorlax can be found at the Cycling Road. Feel free to battle Jessie and James. Other notes that aren't important: A.J can be found in the form of a Youngster with Sandshrew. Joe can be found in the form of a Jr. Trainer(m) with a Weepinbell, whilst Giselle is found as a Jr. Trainer(f) with a Cubone.
I just replayed through Yellow recently. My team and I am surprised I one shot the entire elite 4/champion did very well. It was Fearow, Dugtrio, Venusaur, Graveler, Pikachu, and Starmie.

So, why did u include trade evos again?
Just so you know, Mystic, you can download the Universal Pokémon Randomizer to bypass trade and other special evolutions. It works with all Pokémon roms, and has a bunch of other options as well.
Link to website: pokehacks.dabomstew.com/randomizer/
Hope this helps anyone who needs it!
Who is ASH
MysticUmbreon the shirt looks awesome
I understand Snorlax is a tempting choice, and it's good, but its Special stat in gen 1 was only 65, so not particularly high. That means it won't tank these special hits quite as well as you'd think but also means Psychic and Blizzard really don't deal that much damage.
Pikachu is also definitely not mandatory and also just not really that good honestly. But cool video!
Pikachu
Charizard
Blastoise
Venusaur
Snorlax
Nidoking
No one’s got time for them trade evos
Zap224 Machoke can be obtained as an In game trade and then have Machamp in your team.
Really good setup! My first Yellow playthrough (that I somehow won with) was...well, let's just say I was an odd kid with odd choices...
Pikachu
Venusaur
Charizard
Blastoise
Butterfree
Primeape
Despite what you might think, Butterfree actually helped me destroy Koga's Gym. XD
Santos Warrior no one has time to wait for snorlax to attack Tauros so much faster and by that better
Zap224 what the heck almost my same team but instead of nidoking
I hav haunter (bas)due to the stupid trade evol
Zap224 That would be my ideal team. Though I would replace snorlax with Dragonite, Aerodactyl or Primape
Cool my Yellow Team was Pikachu, Graveler, Venusaur, Charizard, Kadabra, Blastoise. Because I had no friends to trade with.
because you had friend to love with pikachu positve energy venus charizard evol thru the powers of love
Sorry I would trade
Well on a ROM you cannot trade so this team works
Same just I had Haunter instead of Graveler
My team as of right now is Pikachu, Pidgeotto, Abra, Magikarp, cleffable, and Charmeleon
This was my team when I played this game:
Pikachu
Charizard
Venasaur
Blastoise
Dragonite
Snorlax
Hard to beat rhat
Pikachu
Venasaur
Charizard
Blastoise
Mew
Articuno
Arcanine
Jolteon
Pidgeot
Gengar
Gyarados
Nidoking
Caden Crawford good but mew is technically not obtained through legit matters you have to glitch but if you want to you use it go on ahead I’ve glitched a game and exploited it a bunch I don’t agree but I also don’t disagree with using it but what can I do it’s you’re team :P
My team for the digital copy is
Pikachu
Victreebel
Sandlash
Ninetales
Gyarados
&
Dodrio
I love how you use the original artwork in this and it adds so many layers to how awesome and amazing this whole video is, great job Mystic!
Yo lynk you the guy hybrid is working with in the anime pokemon comparison thing right?
Lynk Cable same
David Aguirre yeah dude the Pokemon Crossover series :) working on a new one soon with Hybrid and I'm so excited for this one
I'm not really sure why he said "be careful of how you train squirtle" though
You don't really need to worry about DVs in gen 1
I love the use of the old art for the Pokémon. Giving me nostalgic vibes
I personally think that some of them look better then the newer ones
never noticed before but you get the move "counter" from some random dude behind a counter lol

Plus it basically fills the slot of both Mankey and Golem without a 4x weakness.
Mystic: Golem has more defense
Quad Weaknesses: am I a joke to you?
Yes
He obviously means the stats, not just typing
**all starters make the team except Venusaur** cri
thats the best starter for gen 1 for you and yes a I am saying that for the old games cuz even though he has a limited move pool crit-leaf is still op, and vaporeon is just a way better water type in my opinion
To be fair by the time you get bulbasaur in yellow you're already past the point where it's most useful. (I.e Brock and Misty)
Everything afterwards that you'd use the bulbasaur line against (water/ground/rock types) can be handled just as easily by pikachu/whatever water type you have
yeah I know that..... but what sucks more is that bulbasaur is the first starter ash gets in the anime
TheDjbz I understand why they weren't added. I just commented because Venusaur is my favorite poke, so I was feeling quite salty about his absence. Not saying he should've been on the team.
Ariana Isabella it’s a shame, Venusaur is the best grass type in gen 1 that isn’t exeggutor
Blastoise is massively outclassed by starmie, lapras, vaporeon, slowbro and even gyarados that has 100 special in gen 1 and Ninetales outclasses charizard with 100 special to really make those fire moves hurt
venusaur took a critical hit
Reflect is actually pretty good on Alakazam in Gen 1. So is Thunder Wave
ALL HAIL GOD
Next time, could you put all 6 Pokemon together at the end of the video just so we get a look at the final complete team?
Btw love how you use the old school artwork, it's so refreshing and nostalgic to see them!
Great video! Last move for Alakazam could be Thunderbolt. :)
Also instead of Blastoise, I’d personally use Vaporeon. Also bulky and just overall a super well rounded Pokémon.

Alakazam doesn't get Thunderbolt
TKnHappyNess I think he meant Thunder wave
TKnHappyNess You’re right. My bad! Always think it does.

* Articuno with Blizzard, Agility, Double-Edge, and Rest because I don't mind legendaries, ridiculous stats, and a small but versatile moveset
* Blastoise with Surf, Blizzard, Body Slam, and Mimic for reasons listed in the video
* Pikachu with Thunderbolt, Thunder Wave, Submission, and Seismic Toss because it's Pokemon Yellow and even though you don't technically have to use Pikachu, you kind of do.
This is late, but haunter is pretty good until the late game
A feather in Dugtrio's cap versus golem - in Digglet Cave you can occasionally find Dugtrio of level30+ which is grossly beyond the lvl25ish electric types in the electric gym!
Gen 1 and you didn't give Snorlax Amnesia? It DOUBLES Lax's special!
What about Nidoking/Nidoqueen for the ground type? Nidoran can be obtained around Mt. Moon and can fully evolve very quickly.
I use Rhydon along with giving a ground move to my Blastoise, and it crushed
Oh wow this was five years ago I'm very late haha
1=Pikachu Moves= Thunderbolt, Thunder Wave, Double Team, Body Slam.
2= Golem Moves= Rock Slide, Earthquake, Explosion, Counter.
3= Charizard Moves= Flamethrower, Fly, Earthquake, Slash.
4= Alakazam Moves= Psychic, Recover, Double Team.
5= Blastoise Moves= Surf or Hydro Pump, Ice Beam, Toxic, Double Edge.
6= SnorLax Moves= Body Slam, Phychic, Submission, Blizzard.
THANKS FOR THIS BRO
Finally, despite the lack of a decent ghost move, having Gengar/Haunter is brilliant for trolling those self-destructors, plus it gets Thunderbolt and Psychic allowing to utilise its high special stat.
imo I don't think you need a bird pokemon in Yellow since Charizard can fly.
The best thing about Pokemon Yellow Pikachu is not only is he strong, but you can trade him to Blue and evolve him for a very high stated Riachu. #SurfingRaichu
Red and GSC work too
EDIT: Or change your name with ws m, evolve Pikachu (the game will let you because it considers Pikachu foreign) and change your name back.
The fourth move I use for Alakazam is reflect to keep him from getting hit too hard with a physical attack. Use that, and pretty much all your opponent can do is hope for a crit at just the right time.
I was thinking Thunder Wave but that's a good idea.
thats what recovery is for......
Psychic, psybeam, thunderbolt, recovery......or replace thunderbolt with icebeam to destroy dragon pokemon
@@blakedup6190 Recovery is for the hits that were weakened by Reflect. Alakazam's defense is so weak its nice to throw a reflect up and then recover if needed. Because otherwise, you're gonna recover, and lose all you recovered with the next hit
"pikachu does well against mistys team"
um
i dont get it
no shit, lightning against water.....duh
however pikashit is completely useless and trash....
I doubt that. At that point pikachu only has a weak thundershock and misty's starmie can tank that. I highly recommend to grind your spearow and rattata to lvl 20 to evolve them and it will potentially sweep her team. A bit time consuming but its good in the end.
@@lucasclyde7424 you can get pikachu to 26 and get thunderbolt by that time just have to grind
@@robmalcolm8042 Wouldn't that consume way more time than grinding your spearow to lvl 20?
Ashley Gillespie-Horne
in gen one the critical chance is determined by the speed stat. slash increases your chance to crit even more and combine that with the fastest pokemon in gen 1, Persian you will crit all the time
I like that you considered how soon you can get the Pokémon as well as how viable they were.

My team in Yellow was: Venusaur, Charizard, Blastoise, Nidoking, Jolteon and Snorlax.
Why the fuck would you replace Pikachu with Jolteon? Fucking monster.
I wanted to recreate Red's team from pokemon gold/silver but I wasn't able to obtain espeon. So my final looked slighty diffrent: pikachu (of course), three Kanto starters, snorlax and lapras

colosseum was dope and quite tough towards the end, because your team is constantly under leveled unless you do the 100 trainer tower
If you keep up with the optional colosseums you'd be pretty fine.
male Nidoran is the first pkmn you can get to stage3, since you can get a moon stone at Mt moon around the time it evolves into a Nidorino (lvl 16)
Wouldn't recommend using it against Misty, however. Because of stats in Nidorino's case, and typing in Nidoking's case.

Yeah dependent on skipping certain battles or losing too
I thought exactly the same.
@@gerasimosst8643 Exactly
I always traded him onto red/blue and evolved him there (at level 26)...
It would be interesting to see what team you would pick to fight another Pokémon Yellow player who had this team. Example: What team would you use to fight a friend or sibling that had a Pokémon Yellow save file with this team.
My Pokemon Yellow team:
Pikachu: Because he is the starter pokemon.
Me: gets to celadon city and immediately throws away pikachu for jolteon
Thought I’d be the only one
Did anyone else put Dig on Charmander and keep it all the way until the end of the game? I always found it to be OP

assuming your main goal is to beat the game asap once you start a new file, Nidoran(king) is a must have

Queen and Clefable are good too, for such a deed.
What always scared me away from using the Nidos is that it's weak to four of the strongest types in the game (Ground, Water/Ice, and, the boss type, Psychic). Also it's stats are just... okay. Certainly good enough to beat the cartridge game, but I preferred to use the likes of Golem, Alakazam, Starmie, and Exeggutor instead.

currently thinking about wherever to replace pikachu once I get evee and have acess to volteon
Correct me if I'm wrong but you're not stuck with pikachu in pkmn yellow. You can put it into the pc, trade it and evolve it.
Sad Onion you can only evolve it if you trade it to another game
You're right about the other things though
Sad Onion If you do that you can’t get the other starters in yellow tho.
Yes you can, but personally I kept him as is and really didn’t struggle playing the game.
To me I hate how weak Pikachu is, so I always put him in the PC, and go with Jolteon or Zapdos for my electric Pokemon!
w0ng™ then just get them before you trade it. 😂
It's only fighting move really is Low Kick, which I don't know who's idea was it to design that part of the game (only one fighting move, really Game Freak?) But yes - Steve's move-set will be Low Kick, Karate Chop (unfortunately no STAB in this gen, why?), Rock Slide (for coverage) and Body Slam
Geodude/Golem - Hulk.
Psychic only has 10, this will let you use it more without using ethers or running back to the pokemon center
good call! Its a story team after all
Psychic, Reflect, Recover and Thunder Wave works better imo
What about shadow ball?
doesnt exist in gen1
+RockyRider25 1. Shadow Ball is a gen II move. The only ghost type move in gen I that does type damage is Lick, which is garbage and not learnt by Alakazam 2. Shadow Ball being a ghost-type move was physical in gens II and III, therefore it was very unviable choice as Alakazam has very poor attack stat
No love for the eeveelutions 😢 Otherwise nice video!
You forgot to mention a ONE difference between Red/Blue and Yellow:
Wild Jigglypuff!
Wild Jigglypuff everywhere!
Here's my team for Yellow. Magneton, Venusaur, Blastoise, Charizard, Rhydon and Hypno.
Super Booster Boy tf but unique
Just go full unique-- Jolteon, Arcanine, Gyarados, Gengar, Snorlax, Dragonite. Cool Trainer Status with that hard grinding😅✌
Glad someone recognized Dragonite Although they robbed him of Hyper Beam Gold/Silver
Here's my recommendation
Pikachu
Thunderbolt
Thunder wave
Double team
Body slam
Nidoking
Earthquake
Thrash
Rock slide
Bubblebeam
Charizard
Flamethrower
Fly
Dig
Slash
Blastoise
Surf
Ice beam
Double edge
Toxic
Mr mime
Psychic
Sismic toss
Thunderbolt
Double team
Snorlax
Body slam
Submission
Fire blast
Blizzard
My team:
Raichu (evolved with glitches)
Thunderbolt
Thunder Wave
Quick Attack/Double Team
Body Slam
Charizard
Flamethrower
Fly
Slash
Fire Spin
Nidoqueen
Earthquake
Rock Slide
Blizzard
Body Slam
Lapras
Surf
Ice Beam
Confuse Ray
Body Slam or Strength, because paralyzed pokemon can't be frozen
Mew (if you don't want to use Mew, then choose another good physical attacker)
Psychic
Ice Beam
Hyper Beam
Dig
Gengar
Thunderbolt
Psychic
Hypnosis
Mega Drain (for rock/ground pokemon)
Dude, nidoking should have blizzard instead of thrash. Thrash is nearly useless when you got earthquake. Blizzard hits grass and flying types (who resist EQ) hard
@@xyzzy-dv6te blizzard has only 70% accuracy and I don't trust moves with less than 90% accuracy I know blizzard is high in power I understand that but when it comes to moves in perfer accuracy over power
@zombiejambo in gen 1 blizzard has 90% accuracy
Also huge fan of your page. Keep up the excellent work.
Alakazam best moveset is
Psychic
Recover
Reflect
Counter / Thunder Wave
Also, Blizzard > Ice Beam.
you don't need thunder wave on a pokemon as fast as Alakazam
That fact that you didn’t include Venusaur with its 100 base special, insta crit Razor Leaf, Sleep powder, and early lvl 32 evolution is beyond me 🤡.
Razor Leaf
Toxic
Leech Seed
Body Slam
@@mattjohnson9948 mega drain?
I love the glitch in red where slash always has a critical
and razor leaf
EDIT: The chance of them not critting is 1/256
@@xyzzy-dv6te o yeah that too
The thing is...
My team was
Pikachu
Blastoise
Charizard
Venusaur
Kadabra
Snorlax
I'd recommend finishing with this team:
Pikachu, Snorlax, Pidgeot, Bulbasaur, Charizard & Squirtle.
Playthrough:
Get Pikachu as your starter, going to Viridian Forest to get Butterfree as a Caterpie, later catching Pidgeotto in Viridian Forest.
Other notes that aren't important:
A.J can be found in the form of a Youngster with Sandshrew.
Joe can be found in the form of a Jr. Trainer(m) with a Weepinbell, whilst Giselle is found as a Jr. Trainer(f) with a Cubone.
I just smash everything with Nidoking. He's a pretty op boi.
Pikachu
Rocky (Machamp)
Charizard
Blastoise or Lapras
Snorlax
Mew on the glitch hypno otherwise
I just replayed through Yellow recently. My team and I am surprised I one shot the entire elite 4/champion did very well. It was Fearow, Dugtrio, Venusaur, Graveler, Pikachu, and Starmie.
