  • They may call it a Picnic, but this is no walk in the park. Bike 23 miles, swim 1.3 miles, hike 3 miles and climb 6,000 feet straight up. Then eat a donut. Turn around. Do it in reverse.
    Before Kelly Halpin tried the Grand Teton triathlon she had no idea what she was capable of.

    I love these videos. They don't just glorify adventure trips, they show the difficulty, ugly, hard work that goes into each trip.

    What a badass! I can say from experience that Teewinot Mountain is no "walk". The vertical gain is relentless, with required scrambling and plenty of exposure. It took me almost 12 hours round-trip and here she running up it, plus a bike and swim portion!!!

    The most beautiful reason to do unique activities: "I'd just like to thank cheeseburgers for existing, because that might be the only reason I made it across." -Kelly Halpin

    Inspiring to me. I've been doing some soul searching as I age. I want to spend the rest of my life experiencing joy. It doesn't mean that I don't anticipate heartache and challenges...that's the journey to joy. Thanks for teaching me.

    Bravely Done - I’m not a good swimmer - much respect for her accomplishment . Seeing her climb out of the water at the end knowing what it must have felt like made me smile

    I can so relate to the donut picnic at the summit after a long ride or swim or after the accomplishment of any physical challenge, I relate to the mmm noises she made while enjoying it that's how I sound when I eat mine when they taste so good you can't help it! I can also relate to the motivational Beer and cheeseburger mention to get it done, when all is said and done it seems to be the simple rewards in life that make us the happiest

    I think there is an over emphasis on speed here. As TM Herbert once said, "Enjoyment in the keynote" so I suggest you can do the same thing a little slower and stop to smell the flowers. Take a little more food and a bivi sack, cache food on the way out and sleep overnight some place (maybe at the lake?). It's not a race. Go at your own pace; it could be a lot of fun!

    • @whollymary7406
      @whollymary7406 6 років тому +1

      Bears don't get you, they are always watching us, they are in the bushes being very quiet and just watching unless they feel you are a treat to them then they might chase you, I was more worried about what might be in the water that might get her

    You really have to fix that diet. You're an athlete and you're slugging down cheeseburgers, bacon, and donuts?

  • @luboyanev
    @luboyanev 7 років тому +3

    Very nice film and cinematography! But a triathlete that eats bacon before race, that's just stupid

    • @luboyanev
      @luboyanev 7 років тому +2

      Hey Loren.
      It's a bad idea because bacon is a high fat food, which is much harder for the body to convert into glycogen (compared to high carbohydrate rich foods which the body turns into energy a lot easier, and you need a lot of energy when doing endurance races :) Eating bacon in general is not a good idea, regardless if you are an athlete or not, because bacon and other processed meats are classified as group 1 carcinogen, which means it is linked to cancer (according an epidemiological study done by the World health organization, that looked into hundreds of studies around the world (www.who.int/features/qa/cancer-red-meat/en/)

    This challenge would have been much easier if she had a better diet. Internally what she’s putting her body through is much more dangerous

    • @chiefsilverback
      @chiefsilverback 4 роки тому

      Ama Rose she all but ran up a 6000’ mountain, I think her body is doing pretty well. For that sort of activity you just need to get calories in to keep you going!

    The truth is, our life was made to glorify God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, not to be "happy", but to repent of sins, and turn to Christ Jesus, the Son of God, and to share the Gospel of why Jesus was crucified on the cross for our sins, and rose again on the third day from the dead, bodily.
    And that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have ever lasting life, John 3:16-21;
    Repent of your sins, and trust alone in Jesus for salvation from the wrath of God that abides on sinners, and receive eternal life, with God in Heaven forever!
