My daily driver RX350 2010 with almost 300k KMs drives perfectly and smoothly and never failed. Simply it is a luxury SUV with bulletproof Toyota reliability
Just got a 2013 RX350 with 133,000 miles and it’s in amazing condition. Drives like a dream, with just enough firmness. The premium Mark Levinson sound system is pleasing to the ears. Nicest SUV/vehicle I’ve ever owned. Hope to get 300,000 miles out of it 🤞
@nifty like a dream. Replaced struts and shocks because I wanted the smoothest ride. Not a single issue yet. Regular maintenance and thats it. Will do starter, belt, alt, battery at 100k and I'm sure she'll give me another 200k.
@@dkmrap1 yes and yes. It was a lot of off the road driving because his house was like 5 miles off street. just wear and tear from the terrain. used OEM. back to feeling just like she came off the line.
In 47 years of driving, my Lexus RX 450h is the best car I've ever owned, I owned an RX300 straight V6,i kept that for 5 years, zero issues! Then I bought my RX450h 3 years ago, zero issues Amazing reliability, style looks, economical for a 3.5 V6, with double glazed windows all round!it gives complete driver satisfaction, quality materials, and just sheer class💙
@@StandAloneState Yes I thought that but I've had a Prius for 50,000 miles, a Lexus GS450h for 30,000 miles and now the RX all of them have had between 80 - 150,000 miles on them and I've never had even a light bulb breaking. I might have been lucky !
My first Lexus was a 2005 RX330 and it has a special place in my heart. It was the first car that I finally felt safe driving in the snow because boy I use to be scared! 😅 Gained so much confidence that I would pick up my coworkers when it snowed. I ended up buying a Lexus IS & RC and I let everyone drive the RX anytime they wanted to go on a road trip. So it’s been through many drivers and many miles and still drove so SMOOTH. Better than my newer Lexus. I’m a loyal Lexus customer all due to the RX. I do miss that car!
I moved from a Mitsubishi space wagon , to a 2004 Audi A4 B5 and then to my real stress-free car 2005 Lexus RX 330. It kept me alive after a ghastly winter accident with a 3x rollover. Since then I haven’t looked elsewhere. Owned a 2017 Sonata but had to return to Lexus . Lexus is king
@@dr.asandohlouis4918 The RX did amazing uphill in the snow. We took it to the mountains to go snowboarding one year and the car really impressed me. Hope you keep enjoying your RX 😊
2011 Lexus rx350 3.5L awd , 280497 current mileage and yes still driving strong and rides great , added remote start ,hud , new Coils and sparkplug at 240000, replaced blown oil cooler lines - Canadian recall item on these replaced with solid metal cooler replacement part, everything is intact and working, simply fun to drive . Love the 4wd hybrid awd system Lexus genius
Always loved gettin the RX350 as a loaner whenever my IS350 was in for service. I caved and got a custom order 2022 RX350 this summer and love it. It’s been the best selling luxury vehicle in the US for a long time now and see them everywhere. I think Lexus doesn’t push their marketing or segmenting as hard in other markets like they do stateside.
Lexus would have to introduce new engines for other markets. In most European countries, the larger the engine displacement, the more taxes you pay (sometimes a lot more), making the Lexus 3.5-liter engine unsensible to operate in the long run. For example, you would be much better off with an Audi Q7 that offers a 2-liter engine (anything above 2 liters gets taxed additionally). Plus, subjectively speaking, I feel like Lexus goes heavy with a US-focused design, while European buyers would turn to other car brands in terms of styling.
that's bcuz japanese lux brand started in the U.S. and they did so bcuz americans are not smart consumers ('im one, so i kinda know a bit about our markets--- so so dumb!)
I have had the current model F-Sport RX 350 since I bought it new at the end of 2016. When I walked out of the showroom after signing on the dotted line (shaking life a leaf), I thought "what have I just done spending $100K on a car!". I have to say, it has been worth every cent. Apart from a set of new tires and a battery, nothing has gone wrong with it and it still drives like the day I picked it up. Servicing is reasonable and the comprehensive insurance is even cheaper than what I was paying on a Nissan Maxima Ti. It is an absolute pleasure to drive, looks smart without looking like a pretentious eastern suburbs nob (i.e. BMW, Merc or VW driver) and is a dream to drive on a long trips with good fuel economy and adaptive cruise control. If you are not careful, you can get yourself into trouble with the power under the bonnet.
AK and team, you are amazing! There are many people cant afford to buy a brand new car right now and your reviews for pre-owned reliable cars are spot on! (more specifically Lexus reviews). The best part to me is "the honest fuel consumption" not as per the specs sheets. Thanks again!
I have a 2012 450h and love it, it's a bit of a luxo barge around town but dead quiet and smooth, and it's a mile eater on the open road, did I say I loved it? awesome car!
I daily drive the same car and I love it. On board, it's all about calm and low blood pressure. The dipping mirors are quite something, it's one of my favorite features with the automatic adjusted seat position. I get about 8,5 to 9,5L/100km
My friend has the previous model (2007) with about the same KM and nothing has ever gone wrong on it. Its still super luxurious and drives like new. Its kind of unbelievable really.
RX is a very Japanese design in that it is very understated and composed on the outside, it spoils the driver and passengers, and is built with quality and reliability first before all other considerations. The color screen models had Bluetooth which was a rare feature for cars in the early years of this generation.
Best SUV I've ever owned. I'm on my 4th year of a 2012 with 89K miles when I bought it. I'm now at 140K NO issues not once been to the Lexus dealer...fun fact Lotus buys this same model motor from Toyota to use in their sports cars 👍
I have been driving this exactly model (450h) since 2012, now it has 170.000 kms and i have to say it is fenomenal, easy to drive and manoeuvre, very comfortable and spacious. One downside is the leather, i find it weak and very synthetic to touch. The engine is a rock and the electric battery has never complained at all. All revisions were made in Lexus dealer. Downtown is where this car shows it’s potencial with such low consumption between 5,5 to 6,5 L/100km. Downside: on the motorway has significantly high fuel average (8-9 L/100 kms). Overall a great vehicle, which lasts forever.
I just bought a 1 owner 2013 rx350 with 82,000 miles for 18k. Not a blemish on it, inside or out! I still have my 1999 es 300 with 415,000 miles. Every feature on it still works perfectly. AC is still ICE COLD 🥶
@@paulnell I bought a lexus rx330 thunderbolt edition 2005 185thousand miles 2005 for 6300 had to get repairs like coil timing belt waterpump and gaskets spark plugs 1298.80 for repair but should be good to go for a while beautiful inside and out drives smooth my first suv and I'm hooked
@@modemarose4497 Hahaha. Yea, but people buy LR knowing it will breakdown. Plonkers buy the three German shitboxes thinking they're better than LR. Just ask em' they'll tell ya' 🤣
I bought one two years ago. A 2010 RX450h model with 183k km on the clock. 2 years after it still runs like new, with the original hybrid battery and zero maintenance costs (apart from regular service).
@@fabrizioaprile2111 Even if it fails, you can recondition the battery by replacing only the damaged cells at a fraction of the cost. Where I live is around 1000 euro cost. Still less than dual mass flywheels, DPFs, turbos and all these things that can go wrong especially with diesel cars.
@fabrizioaprile2111 hello Did you buy it ? Let me know how is it please am going to buy the 2010 rx 3.5 450h with 128.000 miles am scared of the lifespan hybrid battery? Looking forward to hear from you soon
I have a 2004 RX330 AWD made in Japan. 38,500 on it. Like new. Powder coated the rims gloss black and put in a new head unit with back up cam and CARPLAY. Awesome ride.
My 2010 RX350 has worked through my wife, older daughter, younger daughter, and now sits in the driveway until the younger is home on college breaks. 230k miles (370k km), bulletproof until 200k miles, when the AC compressor went. It will be in for a new battery in a week - 13 years on 2 batteries. I keep most cars to 200k mI, and this has been much cheaper.
Just purchased my first certified Lexus 2021 NX300 Automatic/gas 36,000 miles leather seats sunroof backup camera with sensors great sound system heated seats, nice sporty rims. Smooth ride!
thanks for this, very helpful, just bought a 2012 (pre facelift) so identical to the one in this vid but 35,000 miles (57,000 km) after watching this, and you nailed it, the car is as you state and so far has, like you, impressed me more than I believed it would. Thought it would be characterless but functional but it's so all round competent and comfortable that it gets under you skin
I test drove an early model back in 2006 and to be honest it’s very hard to fault from power to comfort to quality. It’s all there. Felt nicer than the BMW suv even today. I test drove it in Japan which it’s called the Toyota Harrier
OMG this video is perfect timing! I literally bought a 2011 RX450h sports lux with 29k yes 29k miles 2 days ago. I LOVE it. I bought it at a Lexus dealership that offered me a 3 year bumper to bumper warranty $100 dedutable for $2000. This video was a GREAT overview. Also the little door bin cloths i believe are added by the owner.
As a former RX270 owner, I really would recommend skipping that one and getting a RX350 or a RX450h. The 270, while smooth as hell, was really gutless, struggling with hills and overtaking. Fuel economy was around 11.5L / 100km for me in my combined city and highway driving. You might as well get the 350 which sips 13L / 100km (i.e. not much more) but makes for a much more enjoyable ride. I loved the Lexus experience so much that I wanted to upgrade to the newer model RX450h but my Mrs wanted the antithesis of a Lexus RX so went in a different direction!
A lot of cars are like this; gutless and kinda thirsty or punchy and thirsty. May as well go with the latter and you’ll find you don’t need to be driving it as hard either.
Bought my 2012 Lexus Rx 350 at $71k July of this year 2022. Perfect condition, previous owner kept it in the garage and took great care of it. Interior, exterior are immaculate. Coming from a Lexus lover, I know this car will last me until over $300k. Peace of mind as far as dependability and everything else. Never have to worry about it breaking down all the time.
I bought 450h in 2011 and now it turned 200 000 km. Nice to drive and big car. Went to Italy and germany on highway standard..Had to replace ECU for steering caused by condensation water . Salty water came also into the two ECU underneath back rear axle . These control the stabilazer both front and rear. Very costly repair. Fuel pipeline into the tank in rear corroded and was replaced. now Rear and front shocks are a bit leaking and will be replaced. I also had the 12 v battery replaaced 2 times during the years. But all in all a nice buy, do not regret it.
I've got a 2007, 230,000 miles...drives and runs like a dream. I've also got a 2010 RX350, 125,000 miles...mint-condition, drives and runs like a dream. I just sold my 2003 GX370...great off-roader, big and safe, comfortable.
I have and still own this car. Been driving this for my fifth year now with no problems what so ever. Absolutely great car with alot of room and all the luxury you need. Also love the Lexus dealer experience. ❤
I have over 260,000 km on my 2010 RX. Only issue so far was rain was getting into car from sunroof drains getting clogged. It spent about a week or so in winter with water going every where inside. The engine wouldn’t start but after drying it out and cleaning the drains it has been working fine for 3 years. I thought I was going to have lots of electrical faults with water drenching everything but its been perfect.
😮 My daily driver is one of these, 2015 Lexus Rx350 silver bought it at 37k miles and have it for 3.5 yrs now. The car jus reach about 66k miles and feels like a new car ppl are always giving compliments on it.
Thank you guys for the suggestion. I just got rx350 2014 95KM ,very happy whit that purchase. After my new ,from 2020 rav4 hybrid was stolen , i got my insurance money ,spend half the price of rav4 on rx350 , double the luxury, less anxiety from all the new beeping safety gadgets and the best part i can serves the car at Toyota on a price of Toyota, bargain!!!
Absolutely love Lexus. I have a 2015 Lexus rx350 purchased new with only regular maintenance that’s needed done. I also have a 2018 Lexus es 350 and perfect vehicle
Just bought an fsport. Will take delivery on Saturday coming. Cant wait. I had to do something because my LS was getting too old, and wondered what to replace that with. Basically bought this for my daughter to drive around, but I think I'm going to enjoy it as much as I can too. Having run lexus for most of the last 20 years or so, I love the brand. I get what some people say about the European cars. but I lived in London for 15 years, and none of those comments mean anything to me. When you've seen Mercedes Benz's being driven around and beaten up as taxis, the "aura" disappears quickly. I've now had some Japanese car or other for most of the last 30 years, and I dont think I'm going to be changing any time soon. Just so reliable.
Yes, "Should you buy one?" Absolutely! There will be repairs...so be ready, but they probably won't be major. Love my 2015 Lexus RX350 Premium here in the US. So much so, that if I had to replace it, I think I would go find a low mileage 2015 RX350 again and avoid the "new" models.
Update to my last post after purchasing an MY09 RX450h... One thing that was missed out in the "what goes wrong" section is the VVTi gear failure. The classic symptom associated with this problem is a cold start rattle that lasts a few seconds. I'm having this issue now. It is an engine-out type of repair, which would mean that the cost to fix it will be astronomical.
A+ for the car and the review! One small ergonomical annoyance is the close placement and near-sizes of the Engine Start/Stop and the Radio On/Off buttons.
I owned 2004 RX330 years ago and it was the most reliable car I’ve ever owned, looks like a soccer mum car though. The lady I sold it to about 5 years ago hasn’t serviced it once and it’s still going! Edit: I’ve just bought a 2005 rx330 sports luxury with 158000kns on it for $6800. Hopefully it’ll be as reliable as my last one
I’m a few reviews into your work and have to say well done - great unbiased commentary and thorough analysis of all perspectives of buying a used vehicle - 10/10 work with only one minor complaint; in Australia they are door trims not American door cards!
I love how thorough and complete your reviews are. Keep rocking! I am looking to buy Lexus RX450h from 2016 upwards generation, I couldn't find your review on that generation, I am eagerly waiting for it.
Gosh you JUST let the cat out of the bag! I'm dying to get my hand on one of these. I'm looking for a 'cheap' but premium SUV with easy to get parts without being expensive, great get up and go. Will compliment my husbands Prado nicely. Hmm.... trying to find the perfect RX 😀
I’ve very recently bought a 2012 Rx 450 h , with 94 thousand miles on the clock, with full Lexus service history, and the last owner having owned it for the last ten years, have to say, I absolutely love the Lexus, it’s so smooth and comfortable, with ample of power , great driving position, awesome stereo speakers, and I’m getting around 30-32 mpg at the moment, which isn’t too bad considering it’s a 3.5 v6 and weighs 2.2 tonnes.
My daily driver, and the first car that I have ever bought, is a 2010 RX450h. It's been a phenomenal car, and an absolute joy to drive. I've been averaging around 7.8-8.4L, so I've been very pleased. The weight is something that lends a fair bit of heft and momentum, so it's something that you have to learn to leverage a touch.
Yeah, if the public tells you its dangerous to jump off a bridge, I bet you'd be the first one to try to prove the wrong too. 🤭 I never poured acid on my skin, but a massive chuck of the public is of the opinion that its a bad idea, should I assume they're all wrong too?
Anybody watching, this car is amazing. It has aged amazingly well and has most, if not all, features cars today have (and some still don’t). It’s reliability is second to none, and so is it’s comfort. It’s amazing.
Once an RX owner, always an RX owner. My folks have had a 2006 RX330, a 2009 RX350, currently own a 2016 RX200T and will be upgrading to the new one when that comes out. Beautiful cars with Japanese reliability. What more could you ask for?! The side rear seats are comfy but did you try out the centre rear? I always found them super hard under the bum and got numb legs on longer trips. From memory, transmission tunnels were non-existent on all models too 👍🏻
@@RevLexus It’s a great car. They got the F Sport which gets better wheels, stereo/screen, grille, tri-LED headlights and a bunch of other goodies. Down sides are it’s FWD and the 2.0 doesn’t quite have the power for an SUV of their size.
I have a 2010 RX450h and a 2012 118TSI VW Tiguan......both ends of the spectrum... great videos on both from ReDriven... Nailed it. The RX is fantastic solid premium excellent...the Tiguan is nice...but it's like a 2 stroke race bike, boots broken soon
The thing about Lexus is if you ask people that have one, even older ones, "how have you found your Lexus has been since you bought it" they all say the same thing. "Great, the only thing I have had to do to this car is regular maintenance." The video points out that the interior materials are all high quality. Having recently bought a used 2014 Lexus ES 350, I agree. The previous owner was an older gentleman and the car's interior was like a brand-new car. We bought the car from a Lexus dealer in Barrie, Ontario, Canada and frankly it was the best car-buying experience we have ever had. The price was the price, no added-on fees and the car was completely detailed and waxed prior to our picking it up. We have had the vehicle for about 6 months now and have had no issues. The only thing I had to buy was new snow tires. I am going to have to replace an ageing Subaru and I am thinking a used Lexus RX 350 or a Toyota Rav 4 would be a good choice. I do a lot of my own maintenance on my vehicles and find Toyota /Lexus vehicles are well designed and parts are reasonable in price, plus no issues getting aftermarket parts. They are logically made, easy vehicles to work on. I have looked at Audi, BMW, and Mercedes Benz vehicles but first off they all use premium gas and they really are not all that reliable. Parts are ridiculously high in price for these vehicles. Who wants to buy a vehicle with a timing chain and have to replace that at regular intervals? Once those cars are out of warranty the cost to repair them is very expensive. Personally, I value reliability very highly when I purchase a vehicle. Toyota /Lexus gives you that reliability. Gas mileage is important but I find a lot of manufacturers have gone to turbochargers to get that better gas mileage. That adds to the complexity and reliability of the engine. Many manufacturers have also moved to CVT transmissions, some with disastrous results. So if the vehicle uses a bit more gas but is made with tried and true technology and parts I think you are better off. That Lexus V6 engine and the six-speed geared transmission is a tried and true combination. Just maintain with regular oil and transmission fluid changes and it will last. A very smooth-running combination. Plus I am retired now so I drive less and gas mileage is not a huge issue. I do think Toyota has that hybrid system well worked out but eventually, you will have to replace that battery. Not Cheap! I realize that the battery cables are all orange coloured but that is a 288-volt battery pack . A regular 12-volt battery will give you a nasty shock but a 288-volt battery if you make a mistake can kill you. If you work on your own vehicle do you want to take that chance? The Lexus RX and ES tend to be purchased new by well-off mature drivers . They drive reasonably, let's face it these are not sports cars they are luxury vehicles that tend to be well taken care of. So look for one with a service history and you can get used at a reasonable price.
I have a 2010 rx awd with no issues or problems not yet anyway, I'm hoping to upgrade to a newer year eventually wondering what year is a good year to upgrade to definitely not over 2016, which would probably be pretty expensive.....
Ive owned my 2010 Lexus Rx350 for 3 years now and I am currently at 156k miles. I wasnt as lucky in a few thing. The power trunk motor needs to be replaced, so does one of the dampers for the air conditioning to blow air throught the face front vents. Had to have the suspension changed about 1 year ago. But even with ALL of that, its still one of the best cars ive driven. I plan to do the repairs myself, but the engine is A+++++
Love my 2013 RX. 126k and not a single issue. I’ve never had a vehicle that’s so trouble free; I had an A6 and an A3 prior. Fun cars but not nearly as reliable.
RX450H Are fantasic cars, not very exciting but very reliable. Fuel wise I get about 30 mpg, (7.3l per 100km). In the UK the warranty on the hybrid battery is 15 years and they aren't known to fail. A great review, only thing I would add is avoid air suspension as it's not cheap to fix
All you have to do is know how to maintain it, but I guess the normal average person doesn't know how to deal with air bags and air compressors and doesn't know how to deal with water getting into the compressor and lines, sooooo... Yeahhh, I see where you're coming frim
I bought my clean 2013 RX450h at 5 years old with 90k miles from a dealership for 1/3 the original MSRP. It was a bargain for a 2013 model that was loaded with what was modern technology (BSM, parking assist, NAV, etc) at the time. I’ve owned it 6 years and haven’t had any trouble. Original traction battery now has 170k and going strong. Solid efficient daily driver with LEXUS badge and Toyota reliability. At this point I feel like I stole it😀
I've got an RX400h, blue with cream interior, stunning & its genuinely fun/sure footed to drive. Built like a tank (but 0-60 in 7.3 secs), everything works and most of them are looked after well & by Lexus (why wouldn't you? - they are honest and treat you like a valued customer). Substantial, but still comfortably fits in a standard parking space. Brilliant all rounder you can trust above 100k miles.
my wife is driving rx400h and I have rx450h , both super reliable and gorgeous cars. 400h has more space and more comfortable ride though , where 450h is more sporty and packed with features.
Hey guys 👊 Absolutely love your show! I talk about this channel to everyone when the conversation about cars comes up From watching this show, I bought a Rav4, which I absolutely love, but this is my dream upgrade. I am in love with this car!!! I have made this series of vehicle my goal retirement present to myself, even if not new Thanks guys 👍
My friend had two RX's; one an RX 350 and the other an RX 450h. Both she put over 300,000 miles on and they were still like new and NEVER gave any issues. I have a BMW X3 Xdrive35i which I love, however, if I could do it over I would have purchased an RX. DOn't get me wrong...I absolutely love my BMW but the LLexus was SO much more comfortable and SO much cheaper to work on. Knock on wood, my Beemer has yet to leave me stranded and has been absolute perfection for the 70,000 miles that I have put on it since 2017. I just know that Lexus is notorious for the Toyota reliablity and BMW is known for better engeneering and driving joy but this also come with expensive repair bills (when something does go wrong).
@20:12 It seems that non-Europeans have the attraction towards European brands. I'm European and honestly don't like at all premium European cars. MB cars although with interesting design, has rattling interiors. Audi has better interior quality but boring design. BMWs, well, you know.... And on top of that, the maintenance is expensive because they charge a lot for the parts and service. Also, normal services (like changing the headlights for example) which can be done in 2 minutes in other cars, generally require more work (for Audi sedans you need to remove the front wheel etc).
My 2013 RX450h has about 70k miles. My Porsche Panamera and 911 have 60k and 40k miles respectively. Lexus repairs = trunk lift motor. Porsche repairs = A/C repair, broken power seat, broken door handle, ignition coil failure, oil seepage, front/rear lower control arms, broken clock. Not horrible for either vehicle. This doesn't include regular maintenance or wear and tear - of which the Porsches far exceed the Lexus. With how much time I (happily) spend in the garage working on my cars, I feel like I neglect the RX450. Like maybe I'm forgetting something because I never have to work on it. Now if I can get a Ferrari I'll have the WW2 axis trifecta lol
Bought a rx450h to replace my octavia rs 230 because of you guys. Absolutely flawless and super premium. I wanted something as comfy as reliable. But to be honest its horriby boring on french B roads. I know its not its purpose but compared to a x5 or a cayenne the dynamic is not the most fun. So tnanks a lot for all the work you guys are doing. Hope you’ll carry on. Merci pour tout!
I first owned a 2005 Lexus IS 250 (4 years Company lease) then progressed up to a RX 350 (c.2010~2024). What a great car with 190,000 kms on the clock, it has been a dream vehicle with a luxury ride, powerful engine, and relatively trouble-free ownership. I must emphasize it is critical to maintain any vehicle (Lexus included) and replace any worn components religiously (as a mechanical engineer). My RX 350 is still running like a brand new car some 14 years later, and a testimony to the brilliant long life cycle designs and materials by Lexus. My next car is going to be a Lexus. 😀😁😀
Just bought a 2011 RX350 with 193,000 KMs, feel like I stole it for what I paid, beautiful car. We bought this for highway trips as we have compacts for around town but this is so nice to drive, may become our daily driver.
Can't go wrong with a used Lexus RX with the V6 engine. Sad Lexus discontinued the V6 for 2023. For 2023 and newer stick with the Hybrid (i.e. RX 350H). Avoid the Turbo engine.
Got a lexus rx330 thunderbolt edition 2005 185thousand miles 2005 paid 6300 for it had to have spark plugs coil timing belt waterpump and gaskets 1298.80 for repair but should be good for a while beautiful inside and out made in Japan
I have 2012 450h F sport. with 215 000 kilometers in the clock. My average fuel consumption is 7,6l/100km. (personal best after refueling is 6,5). I use eco-mode only and it requires prudent driving. It is not a surprise that when people are testdriving these they get bad fuel economy as they are not used to drive with a hybrid. It is like an own sport. But once you get a hang of it you will see much better fuel efficiency. But don't get me wrong. If you push the pedal too hard and are driving at a highway speed it will definitely consume over 10l/100km. Still good numbers when you think that it has almost 300 horsepower and is a quite big car. With gasoline only engine I'd say it would be closer to 15 than 10l/100km. The reason why I chose lexus was that I love toyotas reliability and in my country most people have Audi,BMW or Mercedes this kind of stands out from the crowd and is not nearly as expensive to repair. And even with 200k in a clock it is quite reliable. But as mentioned on the video, service your car regularly, take care of it and it will take care of you.
I did a lot of researches 2 years ago about Lexus RX and GS between 2012 to 2015 model year, and I end up bought a 2012 GS450h Sports Luxury. Reasons the RX let me down, in the first place, interior and exterior build quality are not as good as GS, one built in Canada, and one built in Japan.Second thing is mechanical repair access, being a european vehicle mechanic for 10 years myself, reason I decide to buy a Lexus is I don't want to waste my weekends working on cars without getting paid. As the matter of RX with a V6, spark plugs are half a day fun, water pump is a full day struggle, transmission? that's a engine transmission and subframe out together job, I know that because I've been done all these at work, and they all do fail or need replacing at certain times.
@@lobsterwhisperer7932 Lexus parts are not exactly cheap here in Australia, sure majority of mechanical parts are interchangeable with Toyota, but not body parts. Take my GS for example, Windscreen is $2900 parts only out of Japan, 18 inch alloy wheel $2820 each(trade price, not retail). I heard the fully sealed LED headlight on hybrids are $6000+ each side.
Ī had an RX 330 which went over 300 000 kms almost 0 maintenance only brakes and tires but never touched engine now have RX350 and LC 500 and had a few others like GS 350 Es 300 they are all just bullet proof they go forever ,with no problems. Before had 4 Mercs with non stop going to mechanics never again Lexus forever for me ❤
My daily driver RX350 2010 with almost 300k KMs drives perfectly and smoothly and never failed.

Hope to get 300,000 miles out of it 🤞
This has been the best selling luxury crossover(SUV) in the US ever since its introduction apparently.
It’s bc they’re soft and plush like Cadillacs, but since they’re a Toyota and not a GM product, they’re actually engineered to be reliable.
The American housewives favorite car apparently ~
Got an RX350 recently. A 2010. She is amazing. 80000 miles and rides like a dream.
Hi, just got one. How’s it holding up till now
@nifty like a dream. Replaced struts and shocks because I wanted the smoothest ride. Not a single issue yet. Regular maintenance and thats it. Will do starter, belt, alt, battery at 100k and I'm sure she'll give me another 200k.

Amazing reliability, style looks, economical for a 3.5 V6, with double glazed windows all round!it gives complete driver satisfaction, quality materials, and just sheer class💙
Hi what year us your RX450h?

Only thing about hybrid models is the concern for cost of replacing such parts. How has the maintenance been?

Lexus. Luxury export to the US
Lexus would have to introduce new engines for other markets.
@@tucakov91 Audi is trash and unreliable. World wide !!
that's bcuz japanese lux brand started in the U.S. and they did so bcuz americans are not smart consumers ('im one, so i kinda know a bit about our markets--- so so dumb!)
If you are not careful, you can get yourself into trouble with the power under the bonnet.
very nice

I have a 2012 450h and love it, it's a bit of a luxo barge around town but dead quiet and smooth, and it's a mile eater on the open road, did I say I loved it? awesome car!
I daily drive the same car and I love it. On board, it's all about calm and low blood pressure. The dipping mirors are quite something, it's one of my favorite features with the automatic adjusted seat position. I get about 8,5 to 9,5L/100km
Is this city driving?
I got driven around in Helsinki in my son's Lexus.
I want one. It was the smoothest ride I've ever got.
My friend has the previous model (2007) with about the same KM and nothing has ever gone wrong on it. Its still super luxurious and drives like new. Its kind of unbelievable really.
I had a 2004 RX 300 and it was very comfortable and reliable. Sold it for the same money I paid for it too
RX is a very Japanese design in that it is very understated and composed on the outside, it spoils the driver and passengers, and is built with quality and reliability first before all other considerations.

Some markets, like the US and Canada, never got the RX270, so that makes it easier for them. They can only choose between the 350 and the 450h.
A lot of cars are like this; gutless and kinda thirsty or punchy and thirsty. May as well go with the latter and you’ll find you don’t need to be driving it as hard either.
I'm surprised that existed; they never put a four cylinder engine in that model in the United States
What direction and why did the Mrs not like it?
Nah. I skip the lexus brand. Boring, uninspiring cars dressed up from Toyota.
Remember to have the oil cooler line replaced... won't change my 2011 RX for anything... excellent long distance car....
Now the 5th Gen RX started popping up on the road and the price of the 4th Gen started to fall, it seems to be a good time to review one!

This is the only generation of Lexus I haven't owned. I have had the Mk 2 RX and the Mk 4 RX. Cool to see this Mk 3 in depth.
Aah you legends, made the one for the car I was looking to get. Thanks all.

Not Cheap! I realize that the battery cables are all orange coloured but that is a 288-volt battery pack
. A regular 12-volt battery will give you a nasty shock but a 288-volt battery if you make a mistake can kill you. If you work on your own vehicle do you want to take that chance?
The Lexus RX and ES tend to be purchased new by well-off mature drivers . They drive reasonably, let's face it these
are not sports cars they are luxury vehicles that tend to be well taken care of.
The Lexus LC500 can be BOTH fun and reliable; although it's not an SUV. So can the RC & IS with the 5.0L engine.
Yeahhh, I see where you're coming frim
whereabouts in the UK are you? Im in Glasgow, Scotland
@@RevLexus Glasgow, you are about 400 miles away from me, I in Barking, Essex
@@sideshowbob32 oh wow quite a distance! Anyways, if you like Lexus you might enjoy my videos :)
@@RevLexus You have some excellent content on your channel, do you still on the SC430?
I own a 2011 rx350 and a 2014 bmw X5. The Lexus still hums along smoothly while I ditched the bmw and it’s absurd repair bills a couple of years ago.
Hey guys 👊
Absolutely love your show! I talk about this channel to everyone when the conversation about cars comes up
From watching this show, I bought a Rav4, which I absolutely love, but this is my dream upgrade. I am in love with this car!!! I have made this series of vehicle my goal retirement present to myself, even if not new
Thanks guys 👍
Brilliant to hear mate. Glad you’re enjoying the car and thank you for watching!
@ReDriven Wow! Thanks for the reply 😁
I have 2013 350RX and love it looks new. 43k miles on it, I keep it perfect.
We have owned a RX300 since new in 2003. 20 years of reliable motoring, 217k miles and faultless.
Dude, your safety feature voiceover was hilarious, and your American accent was spot-on! 🤣🤣
The turbo engine will likely still be very reliable given its Lexus.
@@ln5747 Yeah, they have had a turbo RX200t for about 6 years now.
@@RevLexus exactly and it's been fine. It's not like turbo diesels haven't been doing huge mileages. Turbo doesn't necessarily equal unreliable.
Got a lexus rx330 thunderbolt edition 2005 185thousand miles 2005 paid 6300 for it had to have spark plugs coil timing belt waterpump and gaskets 1298.80 for repair but should be good for a while beautiful inside and out made in Japan
I got brand new 450H 2012 back in 2013 till now 2023 it’s just 10000km used love this powerful machine 250Horsepower
It has been my car for a while now and I’m not planning on changing it anytime soon I love it
I did a lot of researches 2 years ago about Lexus RX and GS between 2012 to 2015 model year, and I end up bought a 2012 GS450h Sports Luxury.
I agree, people get too comfortable thinking its "Toyota" therefore easy to fix and parts are interchangeable...until they get mechanics bill.
Love Euro cars but not the maintenance. Decided to move over to Toyota/Lexus(2010 RX 450h) to minimize those costs. So far very pleased.
It's funny, every European reviewer hates the Lexus because it ain't German, yet this is the best selling SUV in the world.
great video, very informative; please do 1 on Porsche Cayenne diesel. Cheers
Just watch the Touareg video
what diesel are you thinking? v6 or v8 diesel?
@@mattdebyl8806 or watch 'carsofglasgow' theres a diesel 2016 cayenne there
Ī had an RX 330 which went over 300 000 kms almost 0 maintenance only brakes and tires but never touched engine now have RX350 and LC 500 and had a few others like GS 350 Es 300 they are all just bullet proof they go forever ,with no problems. Before had 4 Mercs with non stop going to mechanics never again Lexus forever for me ❤
