    This is a helpful video, and I had the same difficulty as Mr. Knoblock. When trying to remove the door; removing the 4 screws still left me pondering how to break the hinge loose. And thanks to Mr. Moir's reply, I was finally able to release the hinge and remove the door. So again, the trick to removing the hinge/door is to remove the 4 screws then open the door as wide as it will go - and then press the door open just a bit further. This additional pressure seems to align the hinge allowing it come loose. Would help if the video could be edited to show this technique rather than just instructing to "lift up a little bit". Just the same this was a helpful video.

      I ended up using a hammer and it still didn’t work. Finally wiggled it lose from below while lifting the entire machine with more than enough effort and a litany of cuss words! I thought it was the cussing that finally broke it lose but I must have got it in the right spot by chance. Should have read the comments first…

    After removing the door, flipping the glass and attempting to screw it in the opposite side I found the screws would not go in - thought I had cross threaded the first one but none of them would fit. I took the door of then used a drill to drive the screw in as far as it would go (very low torq) then backed it out and drove it again until the mounting screws went in smoothly - repeated for each. After doing that I was able to get the door on without issue but it was a knuckle biter there for a hot minute while I figured it out!! While a fairly straightforward job - this isn't easy for a novice. Saved me a couple hundred bucks for a call out though so thanks!

    Thank you! The instruction manual leaves out all but the most basic outline of how to reverse the door. Your video made the process doable. Every one of your tips and clear descriptions was helpful. Took half and hour to complete a tsk I’ve been putting off for three years. It’s so much easier to transfer laundry to the dryer now. Great video!

    Huge help! Switched both the washer and dryer doors. One issue, perhaps, is that there isn't a perfect match with the latch when closing the washer door. It works with a pretty big slam though...Any fixes or recommendations?

    Good video and thanks especially for the tips in the comments about removing the door. I had almost given up. I'll add this: Be very careful taking off the plastic strip that covers the holes. The part referenced in the manual as the "hook" is fragile and easily bent or broken off. I had to use super glue to repair it before switching it to the other side.

    Thank you for making this video. I just installed a new washer and dryer set. The dryer had the hook on the back of the hinge that you mentioned, but the washer design must have changed because it's just a pin that pushes into the hole. It was pretty difficult to remove the washer door. Had to try it up and down a bit to release the pin from the hole.

  • @dsacton
    @dsacton 2 роки тому +4

    I found that I had to use a 10-32 tap on the holes that take the door hinge. I could not get the screw to tap their own holes. Easy to do.

    Excellent video, what we all needed to reverse the doors. It seems that only one of the door sensors are actually “active” which is the latch side. The hinge side is just a “holder.” You will need a very good screw driver bit, otherwise you risk stripping the screw - press hard while screwing in, I used a ratchet type to make it finger tight. Do not over tighten.

    If you've removed the 4 screws but still can't get the door off: the trick is to hold the door at the hinge and handle, and keep opening the door all the way using the handle side. Once it stops moving, try to open the door a little more and it should pop out with just a little pressure.

    Helpful video. Only thing I would add would be in my case when I tried to reattach the door to the opposite side of the washer, none of the holes were pre-drilled so I had to “tap” them myself. Would have saved myself some time if I knew this from the beginning before aligning the door and trying to put the screws in, only having to take take the door off then tap the screws then realign the door again and secure it with the screws.

    Very thorough video and thanks to the comments below I was able to pull off the door after removing the 4 screws. I thought I was all set and then hit upon another snag. The 4 screws on the hinge side are larger and completely different from the 2 screws on the latch/plate side so that when I went to screw the latch/plate on the left side (new side) I couldn't screw them in. The threading is completely different. Should I force the screws in? Should the 4 hinge screws be different from the other 2 screws? Did I get a defective product? Any insights would be much apprectiated

    If you own a slightly older version, this information is 100 percent incorrect. You will break several parts if you follow his advice.
    There is a small plastic ring retainer near the hinge that must be removed. Then, spin the entire silver plastic ring counter clockwise with the door closed. Remove 4 screws from the door to release the door from the hinge. There are plastic that pop out to reverse the push spot on the door. Reverse these items. Then unscrew the hinge and stop lock from the main unit and reverse them. Disconnect and reconnect the washer door lock connector. Move the silver plastic part to the opposite side. When you have the silver ring off, it is makes sense. While holding the hinge in the closed position, reinstall the silver ring (clockwise spin to position) and the small plastic ring retainer near the hinge. Then reinstall the door to the hinge.
    I may have missed something. However, do not take the glass out of the door and reverse it. The older style versions only require the hinge and latch to be swapped.

    If you need to reverse both the washer and dryer, can you not just switch the doors (dryer door now becomes washer door and washer door now becomes dryer door), this would eliminate the 180 degree rotation of the glass would it not? Most people will be changing both I would imagine?

    • @davephone8013

If you look at flipping the door you will notice that to do that you will need to rotate it, since the window is asymmetrical you will then realize to be the same as it was you will need to then rotate the glass. Just take a look at your dryer and it will become apparent in your mind.
