I’m Liam Harrison, Bolton born and bred. I’m a lover of Golf, life and laughter.
Started Golf 12 years ago after packing in football when i was 28 due to a back injury.
I started the UA-cam channel as a laugh and a Wim, to make me practice but that went out the window as i started vlogging, loving being on camera but more so the interaction with my #golfmates.
In 14 months i have seen the channel evolve and become the only real golf community on UA-cam which i am extremly proud of.

Great video Liam, I wasn’t playing the game when these dodgy drivers came out so I have always been interested to know what they were like.
360CC ERC I still have in a golf bag in the basement and in its day it was a hot driver. Appreciated the comparison always well done.
I remember when the ERC came out and I demo’ed it. First time I hit drives over 300, gained at least 25 yards with that thing.
Would love to see what if any difference the taylor r540xd would be in conforming vrs non-conforming setups for the ultimate comparison test.

The original ERC was the best ERC made. The Fusion and Fusion plus were later models. The original ERC was AUD $500.00

Nice vid. That regular shaft on the TM would be a good fit for your swing and add a few more yards too. The firm shaft on the Callaway perhaps not the best for your swing speed. Love your vids.
Great video Liam anything that gets people interested in starting golf always helpful, side note when are you getting that hair cut finished .

It might be an idea to use different coloured balls for each club, as it makes it easier to follow.

I do play in competition's hence why i crapped it. And jus love the commentary, sliced the tits of it hahaha

Interesting test in cold weather. They'd probably be a little longer in the Texas heat! I only use my driver on two of the four Par 5's at my home course, the other two I just hit my 1996 Yonex 13° 3 "wood"... I think it's made of carbon fiber. But...I can hit it 265 yards all the time. It keeps me in the fairways...and it really is a great weapon to have in my bag. But...I am a really big guy...at 1.98 meters or 6'6"...and pretty long off the tee.
My Burner+ still smokes it down the fairway 😎 When I pull it out on the first tee, I see guys smile, then my TaylorMade tp5 goes flying thru the air..I love this driver. It goes much farther than my Callaway FT Tour driver. It's all hype and 💰 I'll never buy another golf club again Liam. I'm a 9 handicap, only if I could putt. Lol 🙌
Just shows you that technology has not change much, all the companies keep putting out new drivers some twice a year and saying they have a faster face and bigger sweet spot and these old clubs still hit it along way . good vlog Liam

the ping rapture was a legendary club in my junior golf days only 2 years ago
Got the Rapture years ago in a 12 degree for better accuracy cuz I used to play a really tight course. Had trouble finding the sweet spot though and found the lie angle very upright. So inconsistent for me. But you're right, that thing was really long on a good strike and felt great. So take some credit yourself and keep using it. It's as good as the new stuff
I have a ERC that I use in Jamaica. Hit square I get 10-15 yards longer, but when I hook it I’m super long but in another fairway.

I've got an illegal Ping eye 2 1 iron in the loft that I've been meaning to get gripped up and have a go for a laugh with some of my regular golf mates. Just to see if it goes any better than my confirming Titleist 2 iron.

Great video Liam. I have to agree it's all mostly marketing to sell new overpriced clubs. I picked up a Callaway X Hot in early January, it's about 5 years old, looked like it had never been hit and I only paid £68. It goes miles!

I had a banned driver in '05 Liam, can't remember the name to be honest, the GUI (Golfing union of Ireland) told me at a tournament and had to borrow one to play 😎 enjoyed the video as usual, great job 👏
I recently bought a stealth plus... I have tested it against my old Taylormade 860 from 2003, stealth is way more forgiving and controlled but the old burner goes 10 yards past it on centre strikes.

Well you have proved the point.New drivers are just for the show. I use old driver,as far as I concern it is the player who really matters.
I played with the 540XD when it first came out. Still have it. Had never heard it was illegal until seeing this video. Was no longer than my TM 360 or R5, or my Ping Rapture. Have to say though it did feel fantastic on center strikes. I recall it was well known that the ERC was banned. And was really expensive so never tried it. Maybe I'll just get the 540 out again for fun. Love these videos.

I have a 540 Taylor made drive along with a host of other drivers, it so true they are just as good as todays clubs, all the hype is to make us want to buy a new club thinking you will get X amount of extra yards out of a new club ! nice job golf mate go team OMP

My golf buddy gifted me a slightly used TaylorMade R580 , and I regard this as one of the best clubs. I enjoy this club tremedously ! Too bad it is banned . Thank you Liam for this awesome informative video!
I had the JVS,longest driver I've ever hit,but had three,first two split in the faces as they were so thin.

I picked up both clubs one ebay for less than 30 USD with shipping. The Callaway fusion is a little harder to hit for I tend to slice it a bit unless I put a real good swing on it. The Taylormade is easier to hit and I did hit them both a long ways. Lot of snow here still so it was hard tell if I hit it farther than my Ping G400. This has been fun! Have fun and drink some pints for me! Go team OMP!

My friend who was a club designer for Callaway gave me the ERCII when it came out right after it got banned in the mid 2000s. You can't find it anywhere because it was a limited release. ERCI yes but not the II. I still use that club today...I get 10-15 extra yards however mine was used as a test club by John Daly and he was supposedly getting 30-40 extra yards while chain smoking butt to butt lol the tech was beyond anything at that time and that's why the big difference back then. With new tech now days you wouldn't see as much as a difference plus it's not as forgiving. I'd loan you it if you were closer lol
Also gave me a full set of X-14 irons 2-SW that John tested. Kinda cool back when he was somewhat relevant.

Liam try and get hold of a COBRA long tom...it was made with the longest legal shaft and illegal head .( I think )? Defo worth a look

I have two unconforming taylormades xr-03 which is huge behemoth of a driver, massive 8.5 degree face, goes miles, and a 9.5 degree r540 which is much smaller, and streamlined both great drivers. And i had no idea they were illegal when i picked them up for next to nothing.

Bought the TM 540XD after having the TM 360. Had never heard back then that the 540 was illegal. We knew the ERC was. The 360 went just as far as the 540. Plus I loved the bubble shaft on the 360. Felt more balanced. Still have both plus 4

Im 99.8% sure my dad has the taylormade 540 in his bag. I never knew. BUT to be fair he hits my 10$ driver more than his own.
I’m guilty of club envy, my set are 10 years old. But I’m sticking with them and having lessons instead.
I had a King Cobra that got banned, for the life of me I can't remember what it was called but it was a total Breast and would regularly drive through Greens! You could actually feel the face flexing when you buttoned one out of the middle!

Callaway Hawkeye pro series 9.0 degree , last of the conforming trampolene faced drivers. when you hit the sweetspot it is still much further than anyone elses driver.
I’ve just changed from the taylormade in this video to the ping g400. The tm was a good club for a long time but can not compete with the ping for me. Struggled massively for ball speed against the ping. However on course it still worked very well, just very inconsistent.
Oh god yes. I’ll be honest I will still use it from time to time, just to reunite with that ‘ting’ off of it. Don’t get the sound off any of the new drivers.

Here's an interesting question that few seem capable of answering. Assume for a moment the R&A ditched all the rules, manufacturers could make whatever they liked. What would those clubs be like? What would they do, and would they help the 'average' golfer? Nice work BTW Liam.

Liam-good fun. I have an Epic too and when I hit it goes a good distance, but I call it a cruel mistress. If I hit it perfect it feels somewhat nice but mishits(not by much) feel like crap but not much lose in distance. I still have an TM R5 dual that was my favourite for years but like most players I was always looking for the bigger breasted girl. Cheers.
Both my driver and 3 wood are 14yr old or maybe more. All my previous ones have been ebay specials too. I think one was the Erc fusion but not the plus, so legal? Anyway cost £10 off ebay due to a small dent in the side! Only didn't get on with it because it made my slice worse, 9° face didn't help. Now using a 12° on a 'borrowed' driver and hitting longer and straighter. Cheap and cheerful golf, it's the way to go!! 😉

I had a Cobra 440SZ that was banned, amazing club, unfortunately I made the mistake of mentioning I had it to someone at the club and he looked sideways at me, never took it out again, flogged it on ebay for buttons, wish I still had it.
Go look up shaved drivers on ebay. They are supposed to go really far, but at the cost of a much thinner face, so if you got high sving speed, they are more prone to the face cracking
Bought a secondhand r5 which I later found out was illegal but I really liked so I went on eBay and got a legal one which developed a rattle so Ebayed again and ended up with a draw bias one (my mistake I didn't read the description).....' which I kept drawing ,it was then that I decided that I was cursed so opted for a different model.To be honest for me the only difference between the legal and illegal was the rattle!
Unless you are on the tour, I would stick with what works
You should play your Epic at the shorter shaft length and see how it goes. You will probably have better center contact and it will probably go further. I play my drivers at 43.75 and am just as long as with the standard 46 inch shaft with much better accuracy.
